Thanks for in 7
night jbp?
Wow! Happy birthday Tim
without the ?
Sleep well jbp
i'm so dense, sitting here going, there's no such thing as a 5/21
Counting hours yet or still days?
still days, but almost hours now, grin.
When do the hours begin?
will pass on the congrats to him, thanks!
Rose will count hours sooner - she has 24 hours over you because of the travel.
yeah :) So unfair, lol.
Bet she could do without it though :)
i am 85% done
WTG - what's that in real numbers?
oh I bet. Not really fun, just long journeys. She will have a sleep-over in Dubai, just to cut the journey in more manageable parts.
45 words left to find
I'd rather just travel straight through, with as little stop over as possible.
87 left here, so you're way ahead.
Wow. Long tantrum there!
red boxes of doom, ugh
Tantrum followed by red boxes :(
So are you all celebrating today or this evening?
yeah, it was a long one indeed. But looks like we are back in business :)
no, he has to work. If he gets off early enough, his friends will come here tonight. If not, it will be saturday.
I'm sure he'll have a lovely day, whatever he does.
it feels really special, our first child reaching his majority (is that correct? The age of being counted fully as an adult?)
Yes that's right.
Good that you feel special about it too.
maybe even more than the birthday boy himself, lol. He is very coooooool :D
:)
Once his friends start celebrating with him, he'll feel pretty good about it.
oh yes, for sure. He is a bit miffed he has to work today. Quite a good lesson to him, that an employer will not always give in to your wishes. Tim is used to charming his way. But this time, it didn't go as he planned. Healthy, even though I would have liked for him to have his birthday off.
Yes, it's easy to see both sides of that picture.
I'm lucky with a December birthday - school holidays usually began just before my birthday, so i rarely worked on the day. On the few occasions I had to work, can't say that I was happy about it.
if Haz were here, she'd sure tell me Tim has no business being 21. Some babblers have literally seen them grow up, through the years :) Time really flies.
It does - I remember you talking about his 18th. OK - not so long but still time flies.
when is your birthday again? And your beloved's? Could you please email me with them, if you don't feel comfortable saying in chat?
I'll email the dates.
awesome, thank you. Am updating our birthday calendar. I am useless with a calendar, I am ashamed to say.
useless withOUT a calendar. Ugh. Writing hard.
Done and I added a pic of our cockatoos the other evening - desperate to be fed, as ever!
oh how lovely! Thank you. I always enjoy your pictures so much.
they are adorable, the cockatoos.
{{sprite}} {{liz}} hugs and kisses.
so cheeky!
Rose! *hugsssss* my darling. How was your day? Still more preparations done?
Hi and hugs Rose - how excited are you now?
the after effects of four days of ketamine linger on. it is only 4 :35pm and i want to go to bed... loll
So nothing's stopping you. Go to bed and snuggle up. It'll be dark soon anyway!
then go, and sleep, and enjoy that lovely feeling
good gosh, liz, excited is not the word. i have butterflies in the tummy, worried i will forget something important.
No you won't. You'll be totally organised, I'm sure. When are you off?
go to bed she says, snuggle up she says. the bed is in pieces seeing as i stripped it this am to do the washing...
rose, darling: medication, passports, tickets, cpac. All the rest is available elsewhere. Don't worry.
not getting much, too tired! must get to bed, goodnight all
four morwe sleeps liz
Anyway as long as you've got Don, your passport and your meds - what else matters?
sleep well, flosey *hug*
Oh yes - tickets tool.

Sleep well, Flosey.
tySprite and Liz, have fun, I'll be back in the morning
have almost 1/3 of the way, so lots to do in the morning
Got to go - need to put on something warmer apart from anything else. I'm sure I'll catch you before you leave, Rose, but if I don't, fly safe and I look forward to chatting to you in Europe!

nice liz.... moi aussi
have a lovely evening, Liz!
Hugs to you all
oh I found an 8!
yay sprite. and i have all the a's at last
wow, nice job
Rose, if I don't get a chance to chat with you before you take off on your adventure, I wish you safe journeys and a heck of a lot of fun times! Enjoy every minute!!! <3
thanx so much kam. xoxox
hiya Kam! *hug*
Hiya Sprite! You'll have fun with company too...you ladies are going to have such a good time!
thank you! Yes we will. We have lots of fun things planned, but most important of all is being together.
I'm looking forward to stories! We don't have plans for vacation...yet. We will go to Reno for the Air Races if we can, but so far, our health has been taking turns - hubby has a few off days, then I do...we'll get back to having ON days together soon, I'm sure. A minor car accident got in the way. Thank goodness it was minor, but it really shook hubby up badly. No physical injuries, just bad nerves and getting older...
oh Kam :( That is a shock to the system for sure. Glad it was minor, but I can totally understand how the shock lingers.
His truck is in the shop till at least June 1, so he'll have time to chill - and borrow the "talking" car, lol! He has only driven it twice since that time it talked to me...and I still have figured out what button I hit, lol!
*have NOT*
lol! Silly talking car. But good for your husband to go and drive again. Not let the trauma settle, as it were.
He'll be fine, just felt stupid because he was local law enforcement for nearly 20 years, and a prior colleague came and took a report...I think he was just embarrassed it happened.
aw poor man. Accidents happen, even to law enforcement people... it is just the (bad) luck of the draw.
Well, I have to get off to bed, have an early appointment tomorrow. I'm not even half way on this grid yet - we finally get a large grid and I have a busy day ahead! And...stupid blind intersection of 2 highways - and only one has a stop sign and the through road has curves both ways. Mountain roads in Calif!
so many i words!
sleep well, Kam. Lovely to have seen you. Bad intersection! Not his fault.
So many P words...lol! Lots of i words too. I hope I have time to get back to this grid tomorrow sometime, it looks fun! Take care, ladies!
you too, Kam. Have a good day tomorrow :)
I will be away when the great adventure starts so just want to wish Rose a safe trip, a lovely holiday and really look forward to seeing all the photos xx
hiya Maisie :) We will show you our great time together in photos for sure.
thanx maisie. will you be home by July?
I will be back in a few minutes. Def need coffee.

Hello

It is the most perfect weather! Today is Ascension Day, so it's very quiet.
Hello Sugrra
156 words earlier
Looks like a decent grid, I have had a hard time with the past two grids.
Big grids are fun. Type away!
Hello
I love big grids!
Bon jour, Madame Ruby.
Hi ruby. How many people actually go to church on Ascencion
Arf, arf, bichon.
It is lovely and warm here and I've actually done a little work in the garden, if you can cll picking flowers and deadheading, work
Woof, Bichon
It will rain all day here. We have had a very rainy spring. :-(
The Church is tthe village was actually open today. The old priest died and wasn't replaced so there are only funerals and the very occasional hoiliday masses
Actually, I'm glad it's been rainy. Any gardener would
I am enjoying the heat after this cold winter
If I evr complain abiut being hot you can hire somrbody to shoot me!
We have had too much rain as flooding has been a problem in may areas.
When I lived in Binghamton, the Susquehanna flooded every year, sometimes part way up my street
We are so high up from the Connecticut River that I don't have that problem
It was only a problem for the local hospital and for people who lived too close to the river
My apartment was in a 19th C. house with a view of the river, but no risk
When I was groing up in Rockaway [a peninsula], the bay would meet the ocean during hurricanes
Although I lived in Queens, Bichon, I didn't know that about Rockaway. My sister used to take me there to the beach on the railroad
We had the beach 365 days a year
Are you a swimmer?
Yes, love the water
I just realized that we have a gerund ending in this grid...now I am adding -ing to words.
Thanks for that, scrabs, I didn't see it
ty for mentioning that Scrabs
ar 6/27, pls
Gerund, bichon!

Hi Une.

of course it's just over the warranty.
I have a Samsung front loader that I love. But they are expensive
I've had my waash for at least 20 years and it's never broken down. Kenmore
this is electrolux front loader
*washer
I loved the old kenmores
before sears lost its will to live
this is working fine, but it shreds our clothes - I think it needs a new gasket.
I have been through so many Kenmore washers. Not going there again. They don't make them to last anymore.
yes, they were a good deal. Have a Kenmore dishwasher too.
Who would have thought Sears would be circling the drain
when my may tag broke after 15 years i bought another.
I started out with all Kenmore products. Now only have a stove left.
I know!
Sorry, had to step away for a minute....my entire life I have had only two sewing machines, both of which I used until they shuddered and died, and both Kenmores. It broke my heart when the second one died last week. Had to get a whole new brand, as Kenmore isn't making sewing machines anymore
Now I have an Amana dryer, and Frigidare stove and fridge
Its so disorienting, trying to sew on a new, strange machine.
we moved into a house with top of the line appliances - I hate them
but I wash all loads on bulky, because the new one use less water and some of the items on top came out of the washer dry.
fisher paykel dishwashers, wolf oven, subzero fridge
$$$$
when I moved the kitchen, I got all kitchen-aid appliances.
ok. going to eat for real now.
subzero fridge must be very cold
I am now a firm lover of Samsung products, from my phone, TV, DVD player, washer/dryer, etc
Smsung is the way to go

The boys are doing well. Jax had his kindergarten screening on Tuesday and did well. He wanted to start K that day! Ryder is 28 months and talks like a 3-4 yr old. He is funny. They are both so sweet.
I am so glad that they are doing well!
Me too. I see them every Monday.

the father is your nephew?
She is doing well and has a wonderful boyfriend who is mature, respectful, responsible, and adores the boys.

2nd cr7 pls
The father is my nephew and we are waiting for him to become mature, respectful, and responsible. He is 29 but still acts like a hot-headed teenage boy.
hopefully that will happen
We are waiting, but he has caused great distress to the boys' mother and all of us. The boys were in foster care with me because of his bad behavior. It has been heartbreaking.

hi all -- back after a trying day
hey nan! :-) how's the weather up your way? It was sunny at my school, but breezy.
hi cybernan, hope tomorrow is better for you
harry....i left 10 IN words until the very end, too...
been sunny today for the most part, stid -- a threatened thunderstorm failed to materialize -- thank goodness as the lake continues to rise much faster than the dam can let out. I'm so glad we don't live in a low lying area
If your snowpack is like ours, we are looking at VERY high and fast rivers for a rather long time this year. A bonus for farmers, but not so wonderful for some of the others along the banks. I hope you'll dry out soon.
yes -- sounds like we are in the same boat -- hope your property is high and dry
We are good -- on the Salish Sea, there is plenty of catchment for the overflow, and we are up a ways. But some of the folks in the low-bank areas have had some extra high tides with the runoff
that's good -- for some reason I thought you were inland -- close to Olympia
Well, the southern end of the Salish Sea is the Olympia area, so close! :-)

Good Evening, All! Now that I see that others don't like this grid, I wonder why I started before I looked at the size of this grid. :-?
hi Nef. when in doubt just add the gerund ending. lots of words use it
Thanks, Bugs. I'm starting to see that. I take it that you are already finished with this garbage grid?
no. I just went through the list and still have 77 left to find. Yuch
beginning round 3
LOL! And I've found just about 77 words thus far! (well, 75, to be honest)
(waits for round 4)
that is when More Words opens
Round 7 is when morewords and a2z wordfinder are open :D
I don't have the patience for that. If Morewords can't find it for me, then I ask for help, trying not to sound whiney
((((((((BUGS!!!!!!!!!!))))))))
hey all
hello stid. So good to see you. you must be nearing the end of the school year
Three more calendar weeks, more or less.
I need to get my act together... looks like I will be moving rooms over the summer (we hired another teacher, so there will 5 in our grade next year). But so close to the end. I think we'll make it...
I have been having fun with home schooling neices. They made a west coast long house out of popsicle sticks and DAS and on Saturday we will finish the scene putting the inside benches in and making totem poles out of toilet paper rolls.
Hi stid & ruru.
fun -- loved doing things like that when I was a kid I read one of the books I got from i-hos to them week before last. They LOVED seeing the images and talking about the animals. I taught them a few words of Lushootseed, since I don't know any comox or cowichan words.
Wow, Bugs, That sounds interesting... The totem poles out of toilet paper rolls sounds interesting; I take it they will not be carving them however. ;-)
gosh bugs.. no one is really whiny asking for clues really?
Geelah keslah is the pronounciation for Welcome in Komoks
ooooooh. I will teach it to them!
ee hychka is Thank you in Nuu-chah-nulth
Your kids should learn the welcoming word for the territory their school is in. An elder would know
ruru, I am never sure how people hear things in their heads and I try to be aware of others here.
I don't know any elders for the territory the school is in. :-( Maybe someday. It's a rather interesting community -- many students aren't identified as native american who actually are...
I'm joking.. lots of whiny clue mongers
Nef, I thought about letting the eldest carve one out of DAS. It is a non=firing clay for kids but her little sisters want to do whatever she does so they get the toilet rolls. I have some ink stamps of a killer whale and a wolf so the little ones can stamp them on the roll before colouring them and the eldest can draw some.
we have all kinds of red haired blue eyed natives in our school system because they get extra funding so if the parents can find some ancestry and the kids needs the support offered, it is all good.
and actually, one one whiney clue monger comes to mind but I still help sometimes when I can.
I don't thing anyone intends to sound whiney.
um right
I don't know what DAS is, Bugs, but I do know that I used to do lots of projects with modeling clay or play doh with both my kids & grandkids. It was amazing what they can do with some sort of clay and plastic knives or spoons and things like a quarter (using the edge for texture lines or imprints
Re: whiney clue mongers; sometimes it's just easier to clue what they are looking for than read their constant asking.
exactly Nef. My objection to plasticine is that it is so hard and takes a long time to soften up so they get frustrated. Play Doh works in the moment but just crumbles after it dries. DAS is like clay but it hardens in the air, is a nice white colour and can be painted so it is good for special projects.
when I offer a good clue and they don't even make the effort to scroll back to see it and ask for someone else to clue it again.. I just stop cluing at that point
or you could just put the word in the chog and say, "It is easier this way" like Molly does sometimes.
I've done that too
Bugs, if plasticine is the same as modeling clay, I'd have the kids sit on it while finishing another project before we started the clay project. They always thought it was so funny
My biggest problem now is that so many of the polymers trigger the newest reactions, and I cannot predict which ones... so I am reluctant to use ANY of the modeling materials I used to. *sigh* I even reacted to acrylic paints a couple months ago. Hoping to be able to "do" art outside during the nicer summer weather. But of course that limits what I can do with the students.
i've seen a lot of plasticine in LA on women
NEf, you are a genius!!! I never thought of that but it would work and the kids would find it hilarious at the same time. Well done
LOL re: sitting on the plasticine...
poor you, stid. I love teaching kids about things and then letting them create. The first time the girls came ((10. 6 and 4) I made them play doh until they asked me to stop and they cooperatively made a huge ecosystem of a pond and all the life they could think of. It took hours to build and fell apart in the car ride home... sigh
:-) Yes -- we are enjoying many good activities, though. Today Tom and Mother came and we did the annual "electricity" marathon. Hands-on science explorations in rotations all day. It is fabulous. Kids show what they are really made of when it's real-life and hands-on.
well done. no chemicals in electricity.
yep - and lots of great ideas to take home. I always do the safety talk about not trying experiments without adult supervision!
Good for you, stid. My son decided (at age 10!!) to see what would happen if he opened up a bobby pin far enough to fit into an outlet plug. (He was always curious!) He got quite a nasty burn on his hand from that; but he also never did it again!
And thank you for the compliment, Bugs. I don't know how it would work in a classroom, but for about 4-6 kids, it's is pretty hilarious (especially if they also know how to do armpit farts).
(That's the boys' favorite stunt: "OH! I Farted! NO! It wasn't a Fart, it's BLUE!!!"
How many students do you have, stid? (Probably too many to make the home made play doh, I'd guess)
Far too many for that, I am afraid. 24 at the moment. Great kids, all.
I was wondering if food coloring would set off your allergies, stid. If you're sensitive to acrylic paints, how do you do with finger paints & water colors?
We don't generally use finger paint in third grade... food color usually is okay. Haven't tried the water colors, but suspect they are okay -- the problem (I am pretty sure) with the pa5 is the acrylamides, not the pigments specifically.
24 kids would be beyond the limit of most home made play doh, that's for sure.
true -- but possibly something I could send home as a recipe for summer! :-)
I'm wondering if you might be sensitive to just a certain chemical that's in a huge number of things; maybe a petrochemical?
I am down to piano keys...
??? Huh?
(88)
37 to go here, but slow as molasses
LOL!! I thought you meant you were allergic to piano keys; & that made no sense at all to me
I'm particularly allergic to B in the third octave
I figure I have NBT and NBS... unusual for me to get this far on a weeknight, but was optimistic this grid would be easier. *sigh* clearly not...
I have no idea what I'm talking about
wouldn't being allergic to piano keys be stringing someone along?
pu 7/36 clue please? i can't stop seeing pulsating
I think it's more black and white than that ru
does being allergic to pianos affect one's organs?
and on that note...
