Clues are up
Thanks, Lickety
phantom (kinda): antidote
thank you lickety!
if the "Clues are up" is an automated message, why do people say thank you?
it is?
thanks Lickety
there are days when there are no clues. also it is nice of lickety to let us know.
because Lickety has very kidnly posted them
kindly
but if he's not going to see the thanks...
volcano poker alert
who knows!!!
some of our posts musts sound so weird to newbies, lol
we aim to scare them!
i dont like this grid. period.
Lickety is automated but he is a person and does sometimes chat in the grid, so I say thanks in case he happens to look at the grid because I appreciate the clues.
So hurshy, you mean to tell me that part of the process, when Lickety puts up clues, is for a message to be automatically posted to the chog?
same here mkg
Yes, Jane - it's an automated message
that's what i was told like, sometime in the last few days, harp, yeah
anyone have the bottom O?
yes od 4/6
od 4/6
na8 is the third 8, don't think it was called yet
oh duh, thanks gals
Thanks
just tried a totally whimsical di6/33 and it worked, lol
4 left...
hello everyone
Hi nan

FWs
hursh I just did that with a du 6.... no clue what it means
Congrats both of you
well, mine i can at least guess at a meaning
good morning all, an early start because I have to leave early
Hi and hugs, Sprite. How are you?
i am STUMPED on my last word di6/30
And how was the weekend?
*hugs Liz* Good evening to you. I am fine, had a lovely weekend. And you?
hiya hursh
Good thanks. Hubby had 2nd cataract op this morning. Sleeping it off now!
I hope he will recover quickly and see better. Please tell him I said to get well pronto :)
morewords to the rescue! night all
sleep well, hursh
I will and he will. He was amazed but the quick improvement to his sight after the last one.
Congrats and sleep well, hurshy
aw that is good
He said the details were amazing. Hadn't realised what he wasn't seeing.
subdiet - eating even less than your diet orders
Not possible
I remember that from the first time I got glasses. You don't realise because it declines slowly, and then wham, details come back.
ah, you are right, it is a phantom
Exactly. He can't wait to go back and reprocess some of his photos.
No not possible to eat less than a di4 demands!
please tell him he has to revisit the netherlands too now
hehehe okay, true
We will sometime but no idea when.
I used to work for an ophthalmologist, and the reactions of ppl after their cataract surgeries were great.
Funniest was the lady who had bought what she thought was a brown comforter for her bedroom.. turned out it was purple and didn't match anything else in the room. LOL
hiya ladyM. It is almost magical, isn't it
lol!
She'd gone years not knowing
He had his first eye done a month ago - had to wait 2 weeks longer than necessary for the next eye because the surgeon went on holiday. Outrageous!!!
that's too bad :( drags out the drops schedule too
how dare he. Tsk.
:)
is this today's puzzle??? I thought we had 67 yesterday.
hiya sandy, yes, today as well *hug*
I cant remember when we have had so many small puzzles. and Hi everyone, Sprite liz and all
41 down - enough for tonight
night nan
Sprite have you heard from Rose? Is she continuing to have an amazing time?
Sleep well nan
Sprite what is the largest you remember, I remember a 600 puzzle
Hi Sandy
Yes I haven't seen Rose for a while
yes I have, Liz, and the only reason she is not in babble and not sending emails is because she is thoroughly enjoying her journey, getting out early, and once back, dinner and off to bed. She is feeling great and having a brilliant time. And so is Don.
clue for the di6/30 plz
744 was the biggest so far
That's great. Is she managing her pain OK and where is she now?
she is doing great with managing her pain and fm. They are in Scotland now.
Sorry movie man - don't have it.
I would like some larger ones while I watch the Tour
me neither, movieman.
I'd've liked a larger one yesterday so I had something else to do while waiting for my hubby.
I loved Scotland and England. I particularly loved haggis and black pudding as well as their gorgeous smoked salmon
Time zone confusion there - I'd've left the grid until this morning.
it is a shame we cannot do older grids we missed, like with the sudokus
Love smoked salmon. There was a Loch Fyne restaurant near where I lived in London and the fish, especially the smoked salmon, was just amazing. Sent down from Loch Fyne
smoked salmon is food for kings
Good morning, babblibng in bed
Hi Ruby - a good place to babble from :)
good morning Ruby, Sprite, Lize, all
Hi Flosey
*hugs flosey* Good evening to you, I hope your day was nice?
10 left - BBL - enjoy your days or sleep well. Hugs,
It's nice to see everybody -- like a reverse pajama party
yes thanks Sprite, had a lovely day but very tired now
have a lovely evening, Liz, and sleep well
If only somebody would bring me a coffee....
maybe turn in early tonight, flosey?
yes, will do just that Sprite, very soon
finish this tomorrow
it can be so nice, turning in early after a lovely day. I hope you will fall asleep easily and sleep through the night
just half way and too tired, good night all
*hugs flosey on her way out*
di 6/30?
hi macc, we don't have it yet
Hi sprite. only one I have left.
di 6 - the last 3 letters sound like "not hard"
same here macca, and it's pissing me off
hiya broll *looking*
what's the 3rd letter broll
you only have 2 choices - monkey it!
oh sorry - more than 2, go right, young man
Fireworks!

I am off for now too, back later today. Y'all have a blessed day and a peaceful night
37 this AM, looking for a few more now
Hi Ruby. Have you been enjoying your biker boys?
r died for a minute. My favorite, Valverde, had a terrible crash the first day and it probably was a career-ender.
Computer*
Now I'm looking for a new hero
hey ruby and molly, I am watching the tour as we speak
Today's étape or yesterday's
except for sipping wine and doing this
I'm afraid to write to you about it, don't want to spoil the pleasure
Im watching live as it happens
Thats why I have to watch at night
they have 172.3 kms to go
OK, on my way upstairs, laptop in hand, so we can watch together
I was thinking of that Ruby , Molly do you watch it?
Do they ever have women racers?
OK, blankets deployed. At least it's not wet today
Separate races, bichon, but it's not very popular with French women
Bichon they don't have women in theTour but there are women cyclists racing in female grand tours I believe - but I don't watch those
Sandy, is the coverage in French or English?
Our coverage is of course in English with our australian commentators that are at the tour
I've never heard about them. Must be like the WNBA. It's there, but without the popularity
It's a very good French lesson for me every year, a 3-week intnsive course
Phil Liggit He's English) Michael Tomalaris
You must think in French by now
168.5 ks to go here
Yes. Right now they're having a protracted (and very stupid),discussion of what to do with the empty water bottles and other trash tossed by the riders.
They had that discussion here yesterday and went into great detail. However if I was watching I would be one of the ones to grab some of their trash LOL
I'm sure that if it wa in the US, there'd be people to pick up the trash
Me too
They are discussing Chris Froome at the moment
Each day, after the race, there is a veitable army ofcleaners!
There is a grand tour in the USA bich and here in Australia and in Italy. But there is no race like the Tour de France
I am surprised Ruby, they said here that anything the riders throw is gathered by souvenir hunters
Ruby I wander if we are seeing the same thing
There are stretches of forest and countryside with few spectators. I think the race is run very resonsibly
I'm sure as the mileaage you mentioned is the same.
Cool, eh?
The countryside is soooo gorgeous
I only know one other woman herr who is interested
LOL I have taught my grandaughter to say "Vive le Tour"
Now we have an advertisement!! too many of those
I will be back in 15
One year when I went to see it in person (Lance and Richard Virenque werr still riding), I was so tongue-tied that I couldn't even say "Allez" when Lance passed in a yellow blue

hello Lynxx
Sandy and I have been sharing simultanbous glimpses of the Tour.
hi Ruby! how are you? - and your puppies of course
We're fine, thanks
And you? Are you rooting for Richie Porte?
I probably should be - and I do enjoy watching bike racing but haven't been watching
I think most people fid it very dull
I do prefer the track riding...exciting and so skillful
Chacun a son sport! LOL
I think half the pleasure is seeing the countryside
does it go anywhere near your village?
back for the rest. Hi lyn :) xxx
It has, several times since I've been here, but it's much better on television
Hi Sprite!
nice to see you, it's been a while. How are you and yours?
Today it'smostly Luxembourg and Belgium, not even France
Im back too. Yes the countryside is magnificent and they give a lot of history about various buildings on the way.
wb sandy
All pretty good down here. Hi Sandy
They do something funny: when they pass a fiekd of cows grazing, they insert moos
good to hear, lyn
What a beautiful child Sandy. Your daughters?
Hi lynxx how are you? How is the weather where you are?
Dry and quite cold this year, although they promise some rain over the next week.
LOL lynxx, you are talking about the huge baby. I really want to put up a photo of our new Jack Russell puppy . I am working on it /
I am sure the puppy will be very cute but not as much as that child
It has been really dry here but finally some rain over the last week to put water into our tank. We rely on rain for our water . No scheme water on the farm. Saves on water bills
Of course it is my grandchild. She is called Rosie and is really sweet .
bore water?
best name ever, sandy
We have a bore but the water is fraught with minerals. Not even good enought for stock. We have a dam . We use rain water in the household
Good morning everyone
hiya car.ee :) *hug* How's life?
good morning, babblers!
Still moving forward...slowly but surely.
You?
strong lady, car.
hiya EvaN :)
I am doing very well, thanks
Hi Car and Eva
Hello everyone!
Good to hear!
House hunting sucks :(
hi guys, Eva is that your first baby?
yes, my little man!
he is adorable
He is so sweet!
Congrats, I haven't seen you on Babble for ages
Yes very cute
Hi kids.
TY all - im pretty smitten! work has kept me busy these days, but i have been trying to squeeze in some babble time. :)
((Scrabs!!!!))
hey scrabs et al :-)
hi Scrabbs
hey Scrabs :D Good to see you
hiya Une *hug*
I didn't even turn my computer on yesterday. I was too busy with my little nephews. We had a fun weekend.
Ruby they are interviewing Chris Froome at the moment
The pics of them in the pool are adorable!
too busy for puters is a good thing, Scrabs
Hello Une
scrabs, loved the pic of the boys zonked after their fun day :-)
Before we got in the car, to go meet their mother, Ryder, age 30 months said, "I'm driving!" He is a brute, physically and otherwise. Fearless.
:D
hee hee
Ryder....driver....fits!
LOL Scrab, we make sure there are no keys in any vehicles with our little 3 year old around
He is a typical bossy toddler.
Smart, sandy.
Soon to be 3
Bonjour une, scrabs, car.. totally French at this moment
Bonjour!
::takes notes:: (1) hide keys from toddler
:p
hey ruby, car, et al :-)
Ruby, we do love our guys -- you've been watching the Tour and right now Nadal is about to play his first match at Wimbledon 2017! woohoo!
Eva, I didn't see you, bonjour
Bon jour, Ruby. I don't know which TV channel has the Tour de France.
I love this; it's a grand annual pleasurem
Eva, boys are especially sneaky, fast, clever, and fearless.
hi Scrabs, Eva, ruby
hiya bichon
hey bichon :-)
<Maybe a cable sports channel, scrabs?
Ooh I like Nadal but unfortunately the Tour takes precident
The race used to be on NBCSN but I don't get that channel anymore.
hi Une, sprit
fireflies. Have a lovely day/evening all
on my tv the Tour is right now live on NBCSN
bye sprite!
bye Sprite - have a good day
i subscribe to the sports channel that carries tennis -- i guess that's why I have NBCSN, eh?
google "le tour" ... they have a list of about fifty outlets ... I recall from last night that NBCSN is one of them
There used to be a wonderful "color" commentator, Jean-Paul Olivier, with whom I was smitten, but he's retired now, replaced by a dullard
Our commentators are good but there was one - can't remember his name that I really loved. I think he died
It's on NBCSN so I will have to follow the race on the website.
I Wonder how all the slack-jawed riders keep from swallowing insects
Prhaps it's an added proteint for the Tour di**
LOL I don't know but I bet they all are very smelly at the end of these stages
I think of that when they're all hugging at the end of each day -- yuck!
I always wonder how their rear ends hold up!
Last one - di 6/30 any clues available?
My bottomhurts after 5 minutes on the stationary bike
di6.30 a church district
Those seats look very narrow
I'm going for the night - bye everyone, nice to see you all
how bout the di 6/33?
Sandy, did you just see those lovely small horses?
Bye lynxx
di6.33 nip a flower off
Yes those palamino looking ones are a breed known as Haflingers , they are beautiful
thank you@
!!
Hah, I knew you'd know!!
I am still thinking about those di6 words.
That'swhat I do to the roses, to make the central flower stronger
me too , I have the first but 'pick a flower off?'
got the flower one, but can't get past "diocese"
which isn't right
That is the word that I typed, Dan.
unborn flower
do + a circle + another vowel + the hotel had a vacan**
Thanks Ruby
Got it finally.

It's "good boy cookie" time, each dog gets 10 apérosnacks
brb

Our pup is no angel
She is very good at night tho
di 6/33, pls
They are throwing their rubbish away now
Do any other cocuntried have bottle return deposits? Maybe Canada
*countries
we used to but not now. any body got a clue for the te5/12 please. I am so stuck on this one
They pretend to recycle here, but unless bottles are sorted by color, it's not real.
no, sorry, don't
'morning folks
hi welki
We have single stream recycling
Three vowels in the middle of that te5/12
(yep, we recycle like crazy here)
yay thanks molly
9 left
caveat - calgary recycles like crazy
what is that, bichon?
We have everey other week curbside pick up of recycling. Glass, plastic and paper
good morning all -- who though daylight saving as a good idea?
yeah nan, i hear you - 4:30 and feels like it's time to get up
I never understood DST. It's based on an agricultural economy
I hate daylight saving cyber, it is too hot here and the best time of the day is 5pm when it starts to cool. Daylight saving makes our long hot days even hotter. When we had a trial for it here it was too hot to even have a barbie the trial failed
I would like it in the winter when we could do with a bit more daylight
if we had it in the winter here, the kids would be coming home from school in the dark
but 4:30 am birdsong is a little early right now!
I sleep with window fans and ceiling fan and they drown out all noise
the kids here might go to school in the dark in winter but would come home in the light and have some time to do something before it got dark
except that baseball players could not play evening games....not enough time before dark... ;o)....hello all....
di 6/33, pls
there are arguments on both sides....during the energy crisis in the 70s we didn't use daylight savings for some reason...kids did have to go to school in the dark...
People at norther latitudes get used to having their day in mostly darkness
the only reason they want it here in west aus is to fit in better with the eastern states stock market trading times
but that's all they are used to....
in the summer here we have long sunny days. My neice lives in Sweden where she says it almost never gets dark
there is a movement here to change Maine to Atlantic time....that would be weird for us....
I guess that is in their summer
i have been in northwestern Russia in the winter and summer....in summer, it's great.....light till midnight....but in the winter it's terrible....dark at 3 until 10 the next morning...
and it's worse in Dec. and Jan. ... i was there in mid Feb...
good morning all. not liking this grid but will plod along as usual
hi peri...
i hate this grid...
sandy: do you know who got the "pois" yesterday? I missed it
I have 5 blank tiles
hi peri and pen

end with unopened flower
ty nan.....
di 6/33 ends with unopened flower
yw pen
di 6/30 is my last word....the one i can't find, lol...
di 6/30 please?
Thanks - I did not know that was a word.
Unopened flower...I just wanted to post it again : D
me too, pen
nobody did, dianne
nan - that c/30 has to do with the church
di6/30 sounds like a division of the Catholic Church but ends in sometimes vowel, not ese
It actually has nothing to do with the church, it is a Greek word meaning "contains male and female"
dite
oops
mmm - not diocese not diocey
got it
So close Nan
not working for me either...
*!* - ty
Hint: Sounds like doesn't mean spelled like
a little like old macdonald's farm in the middle!
off to start my day -- have a good one everyone
bye, nan...
well i give up on that word...
i am heading out...bbl to work on that stupid word... ;o)
oh...tried one more thing and found it... i am done...
heading out....bye all....*waving to the lurkers*....
found the 7!
what's with this pathetic tiny grids
It's an epidemic
Hello all!
I bet there will be a huge grid tomorrow, when everyone has holiday plans.
Praying for tiny grids all week
*sniffs* I smell grid conspiracy.
Ru, just a thought. You could actually ENJOY your vacation and not be concerned about playing a word game when you are off on a lark. : P
oh.. I'm sure I'm going to enjoy my vacation.. if there are giant grids. I am just not going to do them
if they are smaller..i'll bang them out
any clues for the di6/30 and di6/33?
got the di6/33...still need the di6/30
I don't see either of them
di6/33 = "not quite bloom"
Yes. Pondering those 2 myself.
wow.. never heard of that word before
thank you ouw
Fireworks!
judi...what is the di6/30?
Hateful grid!
I found it ouw
relates to the catholic church
ruru ... need a better clue...thanks
brain dead today
hello all. and thanks ru, got it from that
related to the dioceses
throw an extra vowel in there ouw
Not making any comment on Ru...bang...vacation...nope...not me
thanks...that helped
.... wistfully... in my dreams
I have no idea how to clue that Di6/30.
Gotta jet. People at work are annoying me.
Work? I thought everyone took today off to make it a long weekend.
no 6/21, pls
Daughter is working.
she's in human services
bichon, I posted a no6 about the upcoming meeting.
sorry, need the first no 6/21
I guess Bichon didn't no6 your no6
The other one sounds like po6 license
Something Walt Whitman might use
lol! (and thanks for that clue)
tyvm Molly
Has anyone noticed that that our grids have been shrinking
<---loves small grids
I thought it was just me, but yes bichon our grids have been shrinking. I do enjoy 250 plus word grids
hoping for 25 word grids for the next week
Like mega grids. More fun
help with the bottom O or D please?
got the D.
just need the O
found an 8! nbs :)
oh well. 22 to go - bbl to find my sad lonesome missing O
stats or clue for your missing o, HH?
stats or clue for your missing o, HH?
Harry, it is OD 4/6.
hi, ori! Hope your fraud ordeal got sorted out!
Back to work, lunch is over. I
I was one of the few who didn't take today off. Not like it's a stressful day, though! Nice and quiet.
hi all. any clues for any of the 8s or the 7? ty
harry please clue the an 8 for me. ty.
Hi JBs. Still working on the fraud, but have taken steps in the right direction.
is the an 8 two words with first being "against"?
there's not an an-8
Good to know. I spent about 10 minutes looking for one :D
oh i thought someone said they found it. sorry
an 7
ok i get it: the person said they found an 8 and i assumed ....silly me. any clues for 8s welcome with stats.
This is how chat goes awry. Harry posted "found an 8"...meaning he found an 8 letter word. Then someone assumes he means an/8. And off people go on wild goose chases.
when you assume you make an ass out of u and me.
i did it. i admit it. i am guilty
i have the ad 8. opposite of subtraction
so all clues welcome.
Sorry, no clues. Stats only: ad8/50, na8/40, su8/50
Thanks Gwen. That is why it helps to consult the list if you are unsure.
mkg, the an7/32 is a musical term meaning slowly.
na 8 - academic word for swimming
su 8 - medical word for sweating
(won't make a comment about molly posting about 8")
ty Knight, I was wondering what it meant.
Hi Ru
Ha, I gave up writing fiction. : P
I'm so behind the times. I thought the medical term for sweating was diaphoresis.
that's excessive sweating.
me too, Molly
(wistfully thinking about excessive sweating)
:D
Oh, that explains it. For me, there is only one kind of sweating. Excessive.
True
And since my experience is with medical transcription, diaphoresis is the only one I had to commit to memory. Doctors don't usually mention regular old sweating in their notes.
true again
I don't easily sweat
diaphoresis sounds like wet depends to me
And I doubt anyone will ever read about su8 on her swelling cleavage in a Harlequin romance novel. : D
Kind of does
swelling cleavage sounds interesting as a subject
Whot? Not a soaked nappy? Blimey.
toodle piss... oops I mean toodle pips :D
Bye...
I'm not leaving .. I'm joking hego
your beer drinking brother was in the grid the other day hego
Kego
hahaha
God, I hate these annoying little grids. GRRRRR...
nation
not quite hego
oops!
How'd that get in there?
Oh, I thought Kego was that lady parts exercise
LOL
close
for women who are tapped out?
see you guys later.. thanks for the laughs
bye again
I can't believe I was missing that od4.
21 to go!
sudoriferous for swimming is more than 8.

well ty for clues but sorry i am not getting the 8s.
further clues welcome for the 8s and the 7 as i did not have any luck.
tried suition and many others. not gettibg anywhere
got su from more words. ty
na8 is country with an added british goodbye
I'm listing.

di6/30, please?
No sweat 2Bit. Enjoy the 4th
di 6/30 - sounds like a word catholics would use
although I think it has to do with plant life reproduction
I am not Catholic so that doesn't help and I know nothing about plants, sorry
I tried 'diocey' but that didn't work
right letters, marc. just change the order
got it thanks
had no idea how to clue it tho
(picks up the pope off the floor)
*still waiting to hear if the pope is ok*....
hi all.
hello....i am in and out...
weird word that di.
i have so many blank tiles still with 39 words.
he's good pen.. he's washing some peasant feet right now
ah....what a relief!....he seems like such a nice person...
i was worried about the most humble taking a tumble...
Dominus vobiscum
et cum spiritu tuo...;o)
fedum clam scit
well, you got me there...
i was not a latin scholar....just a church goer...
pact with who?
I guess the world is Dan's oyster :D
anyone know what you call a sexually confused clam?
... a bi-valve
(ducks from tomatoes)
"he knows the faith secretly" is the translation
cool...
but it's funny to adolescent boys taking latin because church latin pronounces "sc" as "sh"
I think i'll have a gin and tonic and contemplate that by the pool in the sun :D
agrees with Pen.. I think this is the best and most honorable pope in a long, long time
amen to that...
At the very least he isn't a ex-nazi like the last one
Amen to that too
what are you all talking about? did i miss something????????an ex nazi????????
The previous pope had a connectio. To the nazi regime and had ties to some terrible things
help with no6 pls
Which one peri?
first one please
The first one rhymes with well-versed
The second it to pay attention to something
hmm, well versed thinking
Like a poem 😜
