Hi all
flip and hi everyone

suspected that was how that would happen, haha, thanks, pug
or8/9
Clues are up
Thanks, Lickety
thank you
thanks Lickety
plural the or8 for or9
and hi all
crashing - good night
Good night Nan. red boxes here :(
well, that in10 fooled me after all, it doesn't end like I presumed it would... nor did I actually see it as I kept checking, but finally typed it in and by golly it worked.
still looking for that in10
Thanks rbud - don't know what it is about what you said, but you prompted me to find the in 10 - thanks.
shouldn't have questioned myself so strenuously (this bit's a hint, heehee!)
:D
so the in10 does not end in ing?
no, I was thinking it would.
No it doesn't
Hi there, y'all. Can you please clue with i the in-10 starts with? Thanks
Top L-H corner
Sorry to hear about your loss, Peach - condolences.
Thanks, Liz.
Thanks so much, Liz.
so sorry for your loss, peach.
Thanks much, peri.
still not seeing that in10
and I have 2 blank tiles
good morning all
Nor I, peri.
hi sprite
Good morning, sprite.
*hugs peach*
Hi and hugs, Sprite
Thanks sprite. I need that.
you are very much in my thoughts and prayers, peach.
*hugs Liz* Hi there :) How are you and your beloved today?
Thanks, hon.
hi peri!
We're fine - really busy - expecting friends from the UK tomorrow. Very exciting.
oh how lovely!
How are you and yours?
going back to bed
night peri
Sleep well, peri
another hint for the in10? (I was in the kitchen, sorry)
we are mostly okay. Terra has a neck hernia, alas. For now, he is on painkillers and that makes him relax more. And I am stressed out about the 'party'. But all the rest is good :)
brb, nature calls
Poor Terra. Poor you too but it'll be over before too long and you can recover from it then.
one who questions strenuously (Monty Python hint - "no one expects the Spanish In******ion!" - but you want someone who does the questioning.)
Time for me to be off - Hugs to Sprite and Terra.
Great clue, rbud. Thanks
Enjoy your nights, evenings or days everyone.
what can be done about the neck hernia, sprite? never knew of a dog (or person!) with one before.
bye, Liz :)
darn i in the second column, and that bottom N - can't seem to get them. So many i's and n's!
all that's keeping me here, I hate stopping without getting at least nbt and nbs, and over halfway.
sorry about that, back now
rbud: i + parked my butt on a chair + not out(s)
oh! ty! :D
and the bottom N is a number word
not that I want you to leave for bed, btw :)
well, fish me for that one. thanks again!
hahaha, maybe I'll stick around till I hit 100 or so
and there's one more 8 eluding me. hmmm...
nothing much can be done for Terra. We are trying to relieve the pain now, and help the muscles relax which should lessen the pressure on the disks. And he gets physiotherapy for the same reason. And glucosamine to help the joints. But that is about all we can do.
can't help you with the biggies, I have a total of one 7 and thanks to you the 10. Biggies are not my forte
well, no qu8 yet! ;)
*grins* thanks
tsk. He who is proficient in the art of loving... an erotist. Stupid enable.
FWs, nice grid.
wtg dizzie!
ty
aha, that ending works for the or8 (and pl for 9)
oh, congrats, diz!
rbud, no qu8 for you until you reach 100
lol I tried to lengthen the colour (or ape, rather)
you tell her, DS, and hi
someone proficient on a keyboarded instrument
finiquito - tell them in one word you are done and finished
*grins* Hi Sprite
found them, thanks rbud
ty, I forgot or5 was a word without the E.
yvw :)
added finiquito to our babble dictionary.
I like that one.
:D
it has become a sizable list by now. Always good for a smile and grin.
found my last 8. gr7 and pl. almost sounds like a word for the list, like a tiny gr**nyrose, haha! sort of a Spanish ending.
don't think I've seen that here before.
*looking*
nope, indeed, my new word learned for today! Thanks rbud
oh! it's an Italian ice, who knew.
yw! :)
"a type of Italian dessert, similar to a sorbet " Yummy!
sounds good, wish I had some.
hehehe, we both looked it up, I see. If we ever meet up, we will have to eat one, rbud!
:)
how can rotini not be a word, I've been cooking those since about 1975!
lol, you know enable is from long before that :) Even from before the internet.
it accepts lots of pasta types, surprises me sometimes.
if there is one thing I learned, is that I can never predict what enable will accept and what not. It is one helluva random wordlist.
+ it
*heartfelt sigh to be sitting down* {{sprite}} hugs and kisses, and {{rbud}} too
sure is! I recall Jillibus had a funny description in her profile, something to do with it being made up by a Scot and... and...
*hugsssss rose* Hello my darling. Looks like you had another day of flying low. How are you?
hiya, rose, just used your name as a clue! :)
jilli's description is in my profile, rbud, under Babble idiom, at 'enable'
aching all over sprite. 214turned up.
we were expecting around 150
oh, I didn't know you had it too, was just re-reading it in hers and laughing
o.m.Big Guy! You must be pooped. But wow, what a success.
it is brilliant, isn't it, rbud :)
very!
that's one way of looking at it i guess. and everyone commented on my fried rice and sausage rolls... loll
he was a well-known character around our neck of the woods. plus he had a large family.
awesome, rose. Rewarding :) But now it is YOU time and you are to sit with your feet up, a drink at hand and of course our lovely company.
oh that i CAN do... lolll
success is the wrong word, sorry. Am glad he was remembered so well.
i read about Terra. how on earth did he do that?
we don't know. He has arthrosis (sp?) in his spine. Made X-rays yesterday and it showed. Plus two spaces between neck vertabrae where the disk is protruding a bit and the vertabrae are very close together.
ewww, not good.
no, it is not. And you wouldn't believe how expensive it is, ugh. But he is worth it.
does the vet have him on steroids? i looked it up and it seems to me arthrosis would respond well to cortisone.
that is one of the options, yes. For now, she is trying to bring down the pain levels and the muscle cramp. In about 3 weeks, we will see what is next on the agenda.
would magnesium help? like the tabs you take?
not sure. Worth asking the vet about. Thanks for reminding me.
did you see my new word for the dictionary?
yes, it's a good one.
*happy dance*
oh my. interesting experience. standing up again after sitting down after being on your feet for 6 hours.
interesting, right. Take it easy, sweetie. I thought I told you to stay put ;)
but, but, but ... i wanted a drink. someone drank all of mine.
must have been Don, so he darn well can get you another one
lolll
yeah lets blame don....
*evil grin*
Don is an easy name. Not complicated like Rose or Cass. So yeah, we blame Don.
shhhhh, he's looking at me
tell him you are innocent, it was all my idea :D (I am SOOOOO brave with the ocean between us)
*gurgling into glass*
abbreviates to GIG :D
here it is often SAOK - spraying all over keyboard
roflol... so we are GIGGING ??
you are gigging. I am saoking.
nope, you got me there.... please explain
spraying all over keyboard? Want me to draw you a picture? :D
oh dear, now i'm saoking too
lolll
poor don... our broadcasting system for all tv stations went down last night, still no new transmissions. for now he is happy watching some recorded show.
that's why they invented books
yeah... i know that, you know that, but don ??
good call. :D
no netflix either?
sorry... squirrel on the back of a two-wheeled vehicle, doing 200 k/p/h around a race track
no honey
lolollll I knew it had to be something important, or you wouldn't have left me
your SIL is in the grid too
the two leaders are trying to wipe each other out. it's nail-biting
I cannot watch it. Literally can't.
okay, resus team to rollings road. i'e just had a heart attack
*shocks rose back to life*
(by flashing my boobies)
ouch, now i have two black eyes...
but you are back and that is all that counts.
can't see much though. that's a lot of boobies you're packing
Morning you two nutters thanks for the ti4 clues xx
true, dat :) *puts them back in* There you go, all clear view again.
hiya Maisie :) *hug* How are you?
hahaha, this entertaining company made me stick around, and now I'm done, yay! To think I was going to go at 100 words...
thank heavens for small mercies.. did i say small ??
woooot rbud! Well done, and it was great to have you in chat with us.
"what, and miss all this?" :D
mornin' maisie xoxox
I'm fine thanks, had a lovely long sunny weekend in the caravan before coming back to rain, how are you?
*grins at rbud*
I was lurking a bit there, but ah, well.
WTG RBUD!!
also in rain here, but otherwise fine.
only the last stretch, rbud, you were active in chat earlier and I enjoyed it.
You all sound in good form
the flipping family party thing is stressing me out, haven't slept any night through for ages. Hollowed out nights, you know the kind? Falling asleep easily, waking up an hour later, and not getting back to sleep until around 6 am
it's called hysteria, maisie, the kind that happens after the stress hits the fan
but hey, that is part of the process and I am indeed in fine form, feeling ready to take on the bad guy.
How long is it till the party
tsk. Hysteria. As if guys don't panic when shit hits the fan.
it is on the 10th of september. Pretty soon now.
Roll on the 11th then eh?
brb, need to wash the split peas and put them in to soak.
oh, and I had my yearly checkup in the hospital as after-care of the gastric bypass. Vitamine D way too low, liver enzymes slightly off still, but ALL the rest was perfect. How is that for a clean bill?
you are SO right, Maisie :)
for some reason, I read Rose's post as 'need to go spit peas'
I didn't know you'd had one of them. One of our friends had one done and he has lost about 14 stone
Lol yes can imagine Rose spitting peas, wonder how good her aim is
wow, well done, he. I lost around 37 kg, and am in the process of losing some more. Had to re-address my eating disorder, didn't handle stress too well and fell off the wagon for a bit.
knowing rose, each pea will be a hit
Yes I thought she would be good. Well done on the 37kg although I don't really know what that is in English I still work on stones and pounds
I'll look it up
5 stone, 11 lb and 9.1366 oz
Wow that's brilliant
it is a good start. Would like to lose another 20 kg though. Which is quite possible once I get back to normal eating. Am trying to from today on. But am kind of allowing myself a bit of a relapse until the party, if I had to.
if I have* to
Very sensible, you come first
I am in the OA, and my sponsor told me to stop being so hard on myself and start taking my stress and flashbacks seriously. Time enough to re-adress my eating when the party is behind me. Good advice :)
Very good advice. not heard of OA
Can't have statin and phantoms tinitus and assist
it is the AA for people with eating issues. Literally Overeaters Anonymous, but it is also for undereaters and people with other eating addictions.
I tried those too
A much needed organisation
I'd like another E in the bottom half of this grid.
it is indeed. I am surprised at how supportive and effective it is.
ohh me too! This grid would flow so much easier with one.
Exactly halfway and I'd better go. Back on babysitting duties today, Roni and Frankie today and Millie and Harry tomorrow
they keep you busy! Have a lovely time with them and take care of yourself as well. *hugs*
have a good one maisie. enjoy those grandkiddies. xoxox
Thank you, hope to catch up with you both tomoroow. You both have a good day too, byeee xoxo
could I please get a clue for the second in7/28?
in + trap ?
*looking*
finally. Thanks, darling. It was in my blind corner.
yvw
how is Don doing, btw?
physical or mental health-wise.... loll
both :D
though I kinda know the answer to the latter
physically he is doing fine just a few aches and pains that come when one starts hitting bricks with a hammer and chisel
good to hear he is well. How about them tonsils?
mentally.... i think he will go nuts if the tv doesn't start broadcasting again. strange thing is ...there is nothing via internet news about it.
tonsils are back to normal again, thank heavens...
maybe it is your receiver that had died, and not the broadcaster?
have tried other tv in different room, same issue.
and where the tv enters the home? Could that be broken?
but we can see old programmes though whatever channel that is. don has just done a check, all seems to be okay.
maybe give the tv provider a call then
ah well, maybe an email to our regular stations might bring some light on the subject.
lolll, or what sprite said
:D
fireflies. That was fun!
a big *hug* to you and Don, rose. Keep those feet up and rest up :) And to all, have a blessed day and a peaceful night
WTG SPRITE !!! hope you have a good day please give terra a gentle pat from me. xoxox
Missing qu 7 40. Next to the tablets.
Do you have the plural of a portuguese vineyard?
Yes.
Then the other one is the same as the tablet one just ends ina vowel.
Brilliant thanks. that finishes the q's
Welcome.
I see 'Squits' is not allowed in enable..*Sigh*
It won't take lolly or nappy either. Enable is only tolerant of odd Scot words it seems.
Enable has a lot to answer for. tsk!
May I ask what the candle is for, Molly?
It makes me laugh that the French word for shit is allowed, but not the more commonly used French word for thank you.
The candle is for Peach. I read that she lost a family member.
Oh I did not know. Thank you.
Yes it is a shame, Dr_God does not use the updated version of enable. Maybe that would solve a lot of these so called non-words.
Enable is such an out dated word list.
clue plz for the gr7/8?
Italian frzen ice!
Starts with a family member.
Frozen*
Then plural gor the GR 8
So sorry for these typos.
ty zooz!
Welcome.
tadone! fun challenging grid
Congrats, Dawg!
Think I will go and grab a bite to eat. Happy babbling everyone!

Hello, Dose. Comment ça va?
qu 8 ...what you're doing when you stop short of completion ...

l'm surprised that statin isn't accepted as it's generic, not a brand name

Good morning, everyone :)

I keep telling the wife that if she keeps being a pain, I will run away to France to be with my exotic french GF. :)
It's possible that my chemo (pill form) witl have to be changed to shots
... numbers are good ... after all I teach math ... but you can't obsess about them ... obsessing about them has a tendency to be self fulling prophecy generating
KI would welcome you, or both of you, wigh open arms!!
Indeed. Just kick cancers ass.
l'm trying my hardest as this place is Paradise!

What do you call two crows on a branch? Attempted murder.
Hello, Buz',
Hello, Ruby
Byz*, it is always nice to "see" you and read a (partical) collective nouin
partial* still too sleepy to typê correctly
I think a storm is coming as itis suddenly overcast and breezy. This has been the hottest summer, ever, in Europe. I don't mind, but it's a big cjhange
sinistra could be the name of an all-girl rap group
we've ha remaarkably cool weather here for the last 2 weeks
Anybody who denies climate change has to be insane....this goes way beyond cyclical
that's the word for them, insane
It's hotter, colder, wetter, drier, than ever before
gr 5/14, first one, pls
I read the chat yesterday about Lyme disease but didn't add anything, but a friend's boxer got it and has been lame ever since
I don't have it, bichon
aah, found it, older female relatives
does the tick repellant help protect the dog against Lyme?
(or Young ones like you lol)
ty ruby
Yes, l think so as they don't seemto attractticks, maybe because they have such dense fur
My lovely Ruby would occasionally get one but it was always around her eyes
Do you have st*** or a hint for the 10?
Happy humpday everyone
Hello Car.
whee! found an 8!
Hi Ruby
One 8 leads to a 9!
oooooh!
but l'm not even close to nbt or nbs
<--- still in first column
I made my first start about 3 hours ago, but had a napin between
I got up and tidied up for about 30 minutes...but I need coffee now.
found a 9 too!
phantom: insofar
Hiyas, kiddos!
Hi Judi
I found a Coen Brothers movie.
:)
Hi Judi
<-- loves Frances McDormand!
Fargo was such a great movie.
But the Netflix series by that name falls totally flat
at least for me
this may be a ridiculous question; I need the stats for the i in the second column please?
l don't have it either
I have In8/75.
I have that as well from the first column i, I believe...
or the bottomn r the orner r or the 10!

I mean lurking, altho' I may lure some people some itmes.
gr7?
l'ver been doing that, off and on, since noon, but never thought of that
sometimes it just pops out at you.
gr7/36 and pl, Italian ice
ty ruby will be back...
l'm afraid to turn on the news; it gets worse every day
At least mpy son, in Austin, didn't get flooded
So how's Austin working out for your son, Ruby?
He's been there for a long time, originally moved there for Oracle. It's a greatplace and they bought a huge house on the greenbelt, but now neither he nor his wife work
And he's notplaying with a band any more
Uh oh.
Texas is a scary place to be right now.
What's Oracle?
They just travel, incomprehensible life-style to me!
Best city in Texas if you can bear the traffic
How on Earth did they buy a house if neither have a job?
The big computer company. Tjhey are both data-base administrators (whatever that means, LOL)
They live close to downtown, so no problem with traffic
They bought it when they were both working for Oracle
Oh, I see. Are they retired now?
As long as they don't ask me for $$, as the French say, "it's not my onions"
They are in their low 50's; l don't understand them
I can't imagine choosing not to work....
Oh I can imagine choosing not to work. And then... reality sets in.
Exactly! But l loved working
i retired at 58.....only did a little contracted work (very little) after that....never regretted it...
I had to retire when we got married and moved to France; l was 55 but husband was much older and sold his company
I was Bluebeard's 4th wife! LOL
lol....
i have lots of interests and have been quite busy....in a good way....
Sure, Pen. Keep rubbing it in.
sorry... :oP
I'm very Lucky to be here
yes, you are....i loved France....been there a few times....my cousins and i have been talking about going next year on a genealogical trip....
tracing our roots...
You're still a kid, Judi!
Where is your family from, Pen?
Yep. Too young to retire.
Hi Kiddies
hi hego...
Hi Hego, nice to see you
Scrabs is on her way ti Maine Penq.
Hiya, Hego!
Hi Ruby
Judi!
my family on my father's side was from Normandy....
can only trace them back to the 1500s because the church burned down a long time ago....
Great food in Normandy, but not in this region.
That's amazing Penq
ONLY??!?
yes, scrabs should be on her way to the Boston area....she'll stay there with a friend tonight, i think...
well it's always a bummer to reach a dead end....
In the Haute Savoie everything is unseasoned and slathered with cheese
my mother's family is from a little town near Larochelle...
She should have a great time.
yes, i am sure she will like it...weather is a little cool for this time of year, but nice for hiking and biking....
It was OK when l still cooked, when husband was alive, but now l only cook for the dogs; my meals are delivered
You are tres French, Penq.
oui....both sets of ancestors came to Canada in the mid 1600s...
Interesting.
l've been in LaRochelle; it's very interesting and old, not too touristy
all my grandparents were born in Canada...
yes, i have been to Larochelle, too....i liked it a lot....
l try to be French....
paternal ancestors sailed out of Honfleur and maternal out of Larochelle....
Honfleur is very pretty but touristy...
It's wonderful that you know all that!
... in their yellow submarine.
:)
I am missing one i word. Dammit!
l think Honfleur has the most beautiful port in France
i started some researh when i first got a computer....then i got lucky....emailed someone with my last name that i found at a genealogical site and she did the research for me to link up her branch to mine...
and my dentist's receptionist had the same last name as my mother...her sister linked up my maternal family with hers and gave me the charts....
That sounds like a whole career, Pen
hah....i did some work on it myself but had hit a brick wall....
i would have had to go to Canada to do the work....at least at that time....
I have so many relatives that I know it never occurred to me to seek more. lol
My family, both sides, came from the Ukraine, but I have photos back to the late 19th C, Nothing more
lol.....well my mother was one of 11 kids....and i have tons of cousins on both sides.....only really close to the 14 that i have on my father's side...
i have been to Ukraine....was actually interviewed for print and for TV when I was there... ;o)
I have 23 cousins.
my Russian friend was born in Ukraine....Ukranian mother and Russian father....i visited her family there...
I had tons of cousins growing up, but am close now with only two
i have maybe 40....lost count....
wow!
my cousin Albert had 10 kids, too.... ;o)
Kiev is a lovely city....
Most are deceased as are all the aunts and uincles
i remember having lunch with my friend's old blind aunt in a small village in Ukraine....she had tears in her eyes....she said she never thought she would live long enough to host an American at her table....
tart tatin is in the grid
Now l have family in London and NY
That is a lovely story, Pen!
well, the last half anyway
Sweet story Penq.
and cousins in Portland OR and San Francisco
Both husbands were only children
yes....and i went fishing with a old childless neighbor of my friend's brother....later that day he came over and insisted on giving my some old photos of himself and his army comrades so i would have something to remember him by....he was very sweet....
French Canadians were notorious for large families....my grandmother was one of 19 children (two mothers; he wore one out)...
Do you speak Ukrainian or Russian, or did you bring an interpreter
my Russian friend was with me....but i went fishing with her brother and the old guy by myself....lots of pointing....;o)
I need a clue for the gr 7/8 pls?
Italian ice gr7/36 and 8/50
gr 7....short word for mother's mother + most of end of pocket bread....
starts with old relative
Pen's clue is better
baguette is not in the grid
Enable accepts that but not rotini....go figure...
ruby I got the first part of the word:)
or styatin grrrr
statin*
It got very dark and l thought it would rain, but the sun came out and it's back up tlo 90GF!
statins had probably not been discovered when Enable was put together... ;o)....but i always try it anyway....
it's a whopping 63 here right now...
i don't understand the bread part of the clue?
never had a pocket bread sandwich?
gr is Italian ices
p*** pocket
Later. Good to see all.
It's time to cook dinner for the "kids"
bye hego...
bye
i should go, too....having lunch with my brother and a friend....bbl to finish....bye all....

what's wrong hurshy

i just became a teacher. like today was my fifth day with the kids. and we did a science lab with watermelon and yeast. and this one boy wanted to eat it after and i was like, ew, it would be really gross, but he kept wanting to anyway so i was like, oh, fine, go ahead, but it is going to taste terrible! and then i come home and i'm thinking about it and i google it and it turns out eating raw active dry yeast is a very bad idea
uh oh
at the least, you are likely to get severe stomach pains. at the worst, alcohol poisoning. and i want to know how much you would have to consume for the latter to happen, but i can't find that information, because people don't do that!
what can happen?
kids are tough.
how much did he eat?
did he eat much?
so i emailed his parents and i was like, um, if he's sick, this is why, and i feel terrible! and well, he has a history of eating weird stuff, which hopefully makes it seems less like my fault and more usual to his parents.
he probably ate like a teaspoon of it
maybe 2
if no allergy he's probably fine by now.
apparently if you have it on an empty stomach it's not a very big deal because the yeast needs sugars to grow
that's good that you emailed the parents right away - I'm sure they appreciate it
but the watermelon has sugars, hence the experiment.
if it is eating sugars it ferments, releasing carbon dioxide and producing alcohol, is the general idea.
i feel like the biggest bonehead ever
my first year with chemistry I lit a kids arm on fire.
he got better
but at least fire you KNOW what the effects are. i can't really find clear info on how much yeast (with sugar present) will cause alcohol poisoning. there's info about it for dogs, because usually that's who eats crap they shouldn't eat
a cursory search says it's not a big deal. If nothing disastrous has happened yet, it probably won't
38 to go. listing!
i am heading out....goodnight all....
bye pen
*waving*....
well i hope
that it's not a big deal
i am sure if he was sick the parents would email you back
unless they are so furious they don't want to talk to me and just want to email the principal to fire me
and i was doing so well otherwise... sigh.
I hope it all turns out well hurshy
