good morning all. Ks killed.
good morning Sprite, good to see you
did you receive my email?
good evening, flosey *hug* And vice versa. How has your day been? Yes, I received your mail, will get to translating soon. After Sunday, though. I don't have the concentration now.
fine my dear, take your time, certainly do not give yourself a headache over this
I'll enjoy doing it once I have sunday behind me :) Love to translate.
ah, glad you enjoy the chore
no worries, I will
did you have a nice day today?
it's been a good day but headache starting up again - hubby thinks I've had too many, nasty ones lately, so he has booked an appt with Dr. a medical friend thought this should be scanned, we'll see
never hurts to be careful with things like this. I think it is a wise decision. If for nothing else, it will be a reassurance. When is the appointment?
Thursday 14th
ah, that is soon. Good work. Are you very worried?
I've been concerned because they're like migraine which I use to get wayback, from the time I was a teenager but our medical friend does not agree with this, apparently should be long over migraines - I've just been calling them that because they're very bad and that is the pain I associate with what's going on now
we'll get to the bottom of this - it was just a stroke of luck that our friend was here one day when I was in a great deal of pain
ah right. I know my grandmother used to have migraines right up till the end, she was in her 90s by then. Might not be common though. Certainly a very good idea to have it checked out. *extra hug* Sorry you are in pain again.
sorry, really don't like going into all this in here!! but we will get to the bottom of it
I am sorry if I asked too many questions about it
Hi all and hugs
no problem there Sprite, I do appreciate your care
Hi Liz
Sorry you're not feeling so well, Flosey
and hugs - needed that!!
*hugs Liz* Good evening to you both, how have you been?
all good then, flosey... and if I do ask too much, just feel free to tell me, I'll understand!
Wonderful. Having a great time with our friends from the UK. Just had 5 magical days up at the Great Barrier Reef. Snorkelling there is just an amazing experience. I'm so lucky now - this was my 4th time and we're going again next year.
How are you?
my dear Sprite, you ask from concern, I do appreciate that
oh wow, Liz, that sounds amazing!
thanks, flosey :)
AH Liz, sounds wonderful, enjoy every minute
I am pretty okay. Growing calmer day by day, so I guess I am doing all the preparation work well and in time. We'll leave for the open canoe meet this afternoon, so lots of distraction. We'll go home on sunday morning, shower, dress and leave for the party.
It was amazing! Our friends are here for another week, so I won't be around babbling too much - or at least not at sociable hours!
hehehe, real life friends are more important, Liz. How lovely you can spend time with them. Did they go to the GBR as well?
Yes - we nearly always take our friends up there. It's only a 2 and a half hour flight and it's such a special place. We also went into the Daintree Rainforest for a day and did another trip too.
it sounds really amazing. Glad you had a terrific time together!
How have you been and are you building your "dragon strength" for the weekend?
absolutely. Feeling strong and at peace, most of the time. No more sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.
Great and this time next week it'll all be so far in the past!
so true. Just a few more days to go.
would like to get to half way but better to be wise and get to bed - hopefully come back tomorrow refreshed!! so, good night all and good luck
Feel better Flosey. Sleep well.
I hope your head will settle soon, flosey, and you will sl5 well. *hugs*
thanks Liz and Sprite
interesting french word today
Haven't found that yet.
let me know if you'd like a cl4
I'll keep going for a bit - you're so good remembering to give stats instead of writing the word - I know I forgot, when Flosey left!
hehehe I often forget too, or I may not even have found the word yet.
When you wrote sl5, I already had that - should've known better!
just found ph 5/18...no vowels.

Early morning tomorrow, so would like to finish this. Whale watching! Hope it's a great day for our friends.
fingers crossed, Liz. I hope you will have lots of meetings with the huge mammals
do you want the stats for the oddball french word?
Me too - last week was amazing - the whales just performed beautifully! Hope they do the same tomorrow.
Yes please - I'm ready for it now.
es8/55. If you know the german word for mirror, it might help you along.
Yes I do - so I'll work around that.
Thanks - I see what you mean!
I'd never have found that.
fireflies. Very interesting grid. I am off, shower and then packing the last stuff for the open canoe meet. *hugs* and lots of love to you and your beloved, and to Rose and Don too once she logs on. I will be back on monday.
Congrats. Enjoy and see you again soon.
I found it only after I checked the stats. It means rogish, frolicky
Thanks - I was going to check later.

ty une --- now that I've read the rest of the chat it makes sense -- had just come in
no idea what a german mirror is though
... think of the famous german magazine
don't know any german mags either
*only ever visited germany once on a cruise
... it was sitting on the coffee table in the lounge ... title in large white letters in a red rectangle ... usalally said with "DER" in front of it ... (der is German for "the")
no idea dos
... sounds like sp * a big American bird that it on all the money
merry trickster Til Eulensp- - - -
... oh my ... aren't we being classical ... wouldn't have thought of Strauss ... ... well done
recl 4 should be a word - we do it all the time
doesn't help me
got it - thanks dos and jbp
nan - think back to a mail order catalog that began with SP - and play around with the letters
ty welkie
it was the english clue that helped :)
so back to strauss - what does elensp..... mean in english?
it's part of a name of a character
... it's a rather famous piece of music by Richard Strauss ... "Til Eulenspxxxxxx" ... eulenspxxxxx means "trickster"
the title of the music hasn't been translated to english? - one of his waltzes? Richard or Johann?
... Richard ... it's not a waltz ... much later that the waltz king
morning all, down to my last 282
yes, jbp gave the translation - or the trickster's merry pranks
ty - just googled it - saw the reference to ger. folklore, but no mention of strauss -- not the classical strauss I take it
very classical - richard strauss
... not the waltz king Strauss ... Richard isn't related to Johan ... was the leading German classical composer from about 1890 through 1940
oh - thought dos said not richard
http://tinyurl.com/ph2eszq
... wrote Also Sprach Zarathrustra ... remember the theme music at the start of Space Oddessy
half way
there were 2 Johanns I thought -- the younger one was the waltz king -- also a few operettas
... that's correct ... his father wrote the Radetski March ... but the younger Johann died about the time Richard was just getting started ... and they weren't related ... in by family or philosophy or musically
that's why I come to babble, to learn stuff
had no idea there were so many strausses
... I belive that Johan ... the waltz king ... had at least two ... maybe three brothers who composed for the Viennese musical scene
I'm always learning here. It surprises me to find how many things others heard of as a child that those of us who did not grow up in a multi-cultural society missed.
it's great
you forgot about the rejected Strauss sibling the sister
... oh I just had a maiden lady aunt who thought we should experience everything
Alba Straus
... sister were always forgotten ... Mozart and Mendlesohn
... but enough of this musical remembrancing ... the holes for planting in the back garden will not get dug if I hang around here all morning ... ... gotta go ... luck to all
what are you planting?
... got some lilac bushes to replace a bunch that died in the shade of some too tall trees a few years ago
happy digging then :)
still too hot and dry to plant anything here.
... my back thanks you for your encouragement
plants will be dying from lack of sunlight soon -- so much smoke in the air
<---NOW GETS THE catalog clue

Today is our friend Riverdance's 60th birthday. She is never here at this time, but I'd still like to wish her a very happy birthday! I met her 2 years ago, & she looked like a lady in her forties. Kicking myself I didn't ask her if she had a portrait hidden in her attic!!

Hi Soods
Not a snowball's hope in hell of this grid being completed. Just waiting for the dishwasher to complete it's cycle, empty it & off to bed for this reluctant Babbler!
Watching Peaky Blinders on Netflix at the moment. Anybody who enjoys a rattling good yarn, and delectable eye-catching ( Cillian Murphy, Sam Neill), Peaky Blinders is highly recommended.
LOL. Clearly, everybody has charged over to Netflix to tune into Peaky Blinders following my recommendation! Dishwasher finished & emptied. Good night Babblers :-)

oops. Sorry. I was just going to ask for the stats for that top line I & I found a word.

Hi harp; how are you doing? And are the fires near you guys again this year?
they are pretty bad, lots of smoke and lots of people evacuated in my county. We have lost 3 homes, I think. Other areas of the state have it worse. How are things for you?
Doing okay; every once in a while we have some problems with the smoke causing pollution alerts. But I saw the terrible pictures in Missoula & I worry about my family there.
name that proper noun! british comedian John of Fawlty Towers and Monty Python fame
hi hurshy. I can see the guys' face but I'm too tired to remember his name. Sorry.
sok :)
I'm in charge of a part of our churches' fall festival this coming weekend; - I run the Farmers' Market & I'm suddenly short 2 volunteers: 1 is the daughter of the other; & the mother died. :-(
:(
I've been canning pickles and making jams & trying to find extra volunteers all day & I can't even remember my own name; I'm that tired.
hmm, i haven't found any of the 8s or the 9
oh i just noticed that molly noticed that i sighed, lol
I'm sitting here "relaxing" while I'm playing Babble; was hoping to get half way; but didn't start until about an hour ago & my brain is fried.
how does she know that?
i said "sigh" in the chat
Oh! I missed that when I came on!
may have been before you came on
molly is a good noticer
i've noticed it
Yes; judging by the time it was.
I have too.

Would you like a hint?

(A tiny hint: it's a combo)

not quite
ok then, hint me up
OH I GET IT!!
Duke of ea** & sailing vessel
i always pretend that my cats are royal. the oldest one is the king or the queen. i address them as 'your royal cuteness' or 'your cute(sailing vessel)' sometimes.
if i could just find one more P word from the lower P...
Cute. My cat always thinks she's the queen.
mitten was an excellent queen for 16 years
now we have King Opie the Magnificent
Unfortunately, I'm now too tired to go on and Must go to bed.
and the one in my picture is lil princess rilla
g'night nef
How old is that one, hurshy?
in the picture she was only a couple months old, but she will be 1 year old at the end of this month.
she looks sweet
she is. she's a darling, darling girl. but we have a constant dispute over whether she is a darling baby or a grown-up, sophisticated lady cat. (she thinks the latter).
she has only one vice - tries to steal the keyboard cover from my laptop.
LOL! Now, I'll say Gooo Night. Goos luck babbling!
night!
and i constantly have to repl4 things in my house because FRITZ, the VERY NAUGHTY one, is always being so raucous that he knocks them out of the sockets, so i really think that ought to be a word.
