good morning all
{{sprite}} hugs and kisses. how are you this day??
*hugs rose* Slightly better than yesterday. At least I slept :) How are you doing?
i'm doing well. no pain except both hips and lower back. have been to bible study, claimed some medical expenses from the government, and went shopping at my all-time fave place. reall cheap place. the guy buys up excess stock very cheaply. he has two wharehouses side by side to wander through.
wow sounds great. Sorry about the pain, but happy it isn't all over the place atm.
sleep is good. how are you emotionally?
wobbly. Yesterday was a bad day all over, felt very down and ill. Guess I have a bit of a flu. Today I feel more empowered to actually get some things done, though. Progress!
well done you, sprite
:) *smug - rose says I did well!*
I think I pop downstairs to turn on the heat and make a cup of coffee... will you be here when I get back in about 5 mins?
that is, if you are still with me still now, lololllll
brb :D
i am excited. today i found some long, thin white candles which burn for 6 hours. am going to cut/slash a cross in the bottom of some styrofoam cups to push the candles through. then i have deep purple(the colour of lent) and white (the colour which represents the risen Lord) to make a two coloured bow on the candles. we light the candles at the midnight Vigil on Easter Eve so we can take the Light of the World home with us. we tried this last year, but the tapers which the church hands out only burn for about an hour.
wow, that is awesome, darling!
(am back, btw, with coffee and waiting for the temperature to rise, but you already guessed that)
i think it will look nice, and it hooks into what we have been studying. possibly, this may became an annual event at our church.
going strong there, rose. Inspiration from above :)
well, i would like to take the credit but the Orthodox Greek Church has been doing something similar for ages.
*grins* No matter. You are still the one who is inspired to bring it to your community.
sitting in an Ortodox Greek Church at the Easter Vigil is an amazing experience. the whole church is in darknes, and out of the Sanctuary a single candle flame emerges. that candle lights one candle on the two sides of the church. as row by row candles are lit, so does the light wihtin the building becomes brighter and brighter.
must be pretty impressive, to see the light grow towards you
thanks Rainiqui for the ap8, new word for me
then we take the lit candles home with us, and bless each and ever room within our home, beginning at the front door.
ahem... *every*
I like that tradition.
it becomes a very spiritual experience.
I can imagine it being so. It rings true for me.
hmmm, i haven't got your package finalised yet. still waiting for a final delivery. would you like me to include one of the candles?
ohhh yes please :D We'll transport the light from Aussie to the Netherlands.
exactly.... what a thought !!
isn't it? Oh wow, that inspires me too... not telling... you'll see :D
i am picturing it.... the thought brings me so much joy.
it'll knit us even closer. I feel the Big Guy smiling on us right now :)
so do i, honey. in fact He is smiling on all our family.
that is a very good thing
fireflies. Good grid.
WTG SPRITE !!!
right on time honey. i can hear the final preps for dinner in the kitchen.
darling, I am logging off right away. Need to have my blood taken for my appointment next week. Love and lots of *hugs*, dear friend. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
enjoy your dinner! And hug D** from me too :D
xoxox sprite
First run through and I have 47 left to find. No 7s or 8s at this point. I keep seeing the word 'pathogens' but alas no.
Back later to see if I can find any more words. Happy babbling everyone!
Okay, that 8 is just a nasty, out there in left field, word.
My first run through leaves me with 71 to find, including the 7s and 8.
Good morning
Hello Ruby :-D
Isn't there a Scandinavian word for snuff, like snus?
(not up on my Swedish LOL)
i have no idea LOL
but there are no SNs
sussy
sorry
Yes there is Ruby, but Enable won't take it
sorry, 4 x SNs, all 4s and 5s

l wish the MccDo fairy would come & bring me burger and mu mail
lt's too cold to go outtside
l'm going to have to re-group the "troups"
what is mu mail?

Ruby, you are reminding me of how we, as kids, were bundled up to walk a mile to school - long wooly scarf across our forehead, crossed behind head and across face so only eyes showing
darn it -- I thought it would be some new technology!
flosey, l'k like that in my house -- two shawos, two blankets, three sweats, ythermal etc
pls excuse the terrible typing
just joshing, ruby -- trying to warm you up
Nott feeling festive; theey're predicting -10C tonight!
yipes! Do you have to go out?
Just for the mail
can you invite the mailman in for hot chocolate or something?
wow ruby, no heat indoors!!! not good at all
somethinjg! LOL
what WERE you thinking??
Sounds like a good time to have a houseful of Persian cats. Or friendly llamas. Something that would share the heat.
The dogs try, but then l Wind up greyish and covered in dog fur
Try to imagine two 745 lb Pertsian cats, in Spring no less!
Oh dear. Perhaps shampooed sheep?
75lb *
75 is bad enough Ruby!
lt's funny, becausee they behave much like cats
shu t
oops, sorry
I knew a Persian who lived next door but liked to come visit me for some reason. Would jump up on my chest and put her front paws around my neck. OK that far . . . . And then drool down the back of my neck.
haha sounds like love to me
What kind of long-haired dogs, Ruby?
Chows - the boy has long, straight hair and doesn't shed much, but the girl has extremely long, fine fur plus a thick undercoat and leave fur every place. lt'ss Worth it, though, because they aree MAGNIFIQUE!
I'll bet they're champion! Perfect hedgehogs made of fur.
Funny you should say that, had a heedgrhog in the garden and the dogs thought it was a toy and went crazy!
Are there hedgehogs in tthe US?
That's a giggle. Did it roll up in a ball or run away? I don't think we have hedgehogs though I know a politician who resembled onel
lt rolled up in a ball & when l lured the dogs away, it disappeared
but they may live at the bottom of tthe garden
Ruby, according to google, there aren't any in Canada
I looked it up. Hedgehogs NOT native to America, nor to Australia, for that matter. I think they are so familiar to me because I was raised on so much English (that's English-English, not american English) that all kinds of creatures seemed to live somewhere around the corner.
No, we have porcupines :)
Now, now Ruby. No faerie tales. Speaking of which, just saw a program in a local theater made up of the Oscar nominated short animation films -- one was a mix of some of Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes.
lt was funny, watching the dogs barking at it.
Maybe they were waiting for you to throw it ...
No public TV here; l spend my night binge-watching US series on Netflix
Locals have told me they have fleas & othermaladies, so l didn't touch it.
Now that's an odd coincidence, ruby . . . I spend a lot of hours binge-watching British series on Netflix!
Hooray for Netflix!
Lately, there has been a male "rouge gorge" who has come into the house 5 times un 8 days. The dogs chase him, thinking he's a Wind-up toy
Which series? l loved Luther, Downton Abbey and The Crown.
The mystery series mostly. Some police procedurals. Dalziel and Pascoe, New Tricks, Misomer Murders, etc.
l'll note them & look for them later
All the Christie, over and over. ... The first two are gone, ruby. The third has 19 seasons under its belt already and is going for more. Murder in Paradise is a good one on netflix .New Sherlock coming soon. However, we may be getting different choices in our geographical areas.. Downton Abbey was a big hit in the US, as you probably know. I do follow the PBS (public television) shows too.
l think Nettflix in France as well as BBC (which l slavishly Watch for news) have different choices here
The main advantages of being a widow (2 yrs now) are eating in bed and binge-watching TV
<-- not PC!
Actually, the ones I go for first are those that originated as books, favorite reads from long ago. What you said about the choices. Yes. I do get some BBC radio though: 4 and 4 Extra, the latter my favorite. News Quiz Extra is where I get all my political information (stifling chuckles).
l also, regretfully, Watch CNN, but it'ss too repetitive and does too much advertising for itself
I wouldn't trust any of the tv news stations, Ruby. You mentioned the advertising. They are slaves to their advertisers and not at all objective. We are supposed to be a bipartisan country but the tv just feeds us one side. I have to go online to find out what's really happening.

oops again, sorry
Hey, Ruby. Great chatting with you but I've got to get some sleep now -- it's coming on 4:30am and I've been up all nite playing on the computer (started out working but got sidetracked by Babble). So one big warm hug (I'm a short-hair so I shouldn't leave any fluff behind!). Tomorrow....
Ruby, did you watch Broadchurch? Very good....
bonjour, une, ': tying with one finger, eating paté for my lunch
doing the brid "scattetshot" turns out to be more funand no less effective
Also The Fall.....series starring Gillian Anderson
see you later, kids grid*
And Alias Grace was good!
l saw the Fall

that is so awesome trif great job:)
thanks love.
I am, once again, indulging in "babble avoidance" - I have a million things to do, and yet I babble....
another quilt?
I do intend to make another one, yes. I had forgotten how much joy and peace I get from making them, and the joy when giving them to the designated recipient.
this week is all about the house - painting, decluttering, filling the dumpster, etc
oh! there is an ad on TV for a new app called "babbel" = how ironic!
trif their is a webpage with that name too
trif a little spring cleaning before actual spring?
Is the ap word anything I might know?

kje, I submitted an essay to Stanford Med School in Nov, for the Paul Kalanithi Award, but, alas, I did not win.
hello scrabbler dear!
Hi Trif. How goes the painting, etc?
good for you for trying!
Hi folksie, we're hving a heat wsve here
Yes, 62 here now and my beloved snow is melting away after days of rain. :-(
kje, I may submit it to JAMA Pediatrics.

kje, just to know that Abraham Verghese and Lucy Kalanithi read it makes me proud.
you should! I submitted a poem once
And to The Pharos--AOA journal. There is a writing award for that journal.
And how did you do? (KJE)
gu 5/18, pls
as one of my mentors once said... there is a journal for every piece. You just have to find it ; )
submit, resubmit is the game
Yes, I have been exploring. I wonder if I can resubmit for the Kalanithi Award?
gu+ sometimes language can be ha***
What is language sometimes?
I don't know if you can submit the same piece, but I'm sure you can submit a different story
I should have said comments, not language :)
Good idea, kje.
have you read "A History of the Present Illness" by Louise Aronson?

That worked, mael. TW.
No, kje.

Yes, kje. We were all shocked and saddened for this family, but he should do very well.

He sure was, but he was damn smart. Just very flawed, as we all are.
Hello friends
Hi Car! I was just checking in before I leave for the YMCA.
I'm at work...zoning out for a bit
Good. Zoning out in Babble is ideal.

Some winter blues--sluggish and want to sleep/eat a lot- but I am making myself go to the YMCA anyway.
How about you?

*!* - hagd everyone
an American friend passed the following on to me and I pass it on to you..., 1967 - When Jayne Mansfieldwas killed in an accident that caused her car to go under a semi and be crushed, laws were passed requiring DOT barss at the rear of trailers. 1982 - 7 people died from Tyenol pills in bottles that had been tampered with - now it takes a PHD, channel locks and a sharp object to open a bottle of pills. 1995 - when a dirty bomb containing an ammonium nitrate fertilizer killed 168 people, the goverment placed severe restrictions on the sale of that fertilizer. 2001 - one person tried to blow up a plane with a shoe bomb - now all passengers must remove their shoes and have them scanned before boarding a plane. 2018 - gun violence kills on average 168 people in the US every 2 days - but apparently the problem can't be solved except with thoughts and prayers. PS - you are not alone - I think Canada needs stiffer gun control laws too.
ty Nan!
Thank you, Nan ♥
Thank you nan. I am on school vacation this week, and, although I can't really say why, this last shooting has me seriously jiggy. I am just so shaken.
145 children killed in mass shootings at school since Newtown (2012 - 6 years ago). 4300 children killed by alcohol related accidents in 2017 alone. Sounds like we need to ban alcohol.
Alcohol?
it kills far more children than guns
We tried that it was a disaster.
so it only matters HOW a child dies.
OY!
Sorry didn't read carefully.
it's just a little weird that the two corner g words in this puzzle are firearm related
wine is in another corner and shot in the other.
Topical.
Letter order is computer generated and random.
sometimes it seems like it is generated by monkeys.
:)
That's computers for you.
i am still waiting for the one word puzzle
I wonder if that can happen.
Once we had a 700+ puzzle
I remember Kap.
I don't understand probability laws, but it can be possible to have the same grid two days in a row.
Or a grid with only vowels
Or all z's
sure that is possible if the guy running the site does not check out the generated puzzle first
I don't think so about the same grid as they scramble. But only vowels! A nightmare!
Is Dr God a guy? And does he really comb through the grid?
aeiou!
Sometimes y
if you look at the old puzzles - you can see where he has played some grids
haha
Dr God is a guy, I think.
How can he "play " some grids? If there is intelligent design, it makes it less fun.
Random is good.
Moniker aside, he has played some of the old grids
I got annoying on Wordplay because I said the NRA is a terrorist group in the chat. You can apparently have a political name, but not say anything political.
Oh, you mean "Play" them, not alter them
Checkout the ironsudoku site = they have politcal discussions on there all the time
I don't do anything that involves numbers
I would be the opposite of you politically since I am an NRA member
Can we count on you for that?
And I said Im-peach the Orange.
Me either Kap
You can count on me. Ten fingers and ten toes, these are my mementoes.
hilarious
HA!
Even if sudoku is not about numbers really, it has numbers so I can't look at it. I have an arithmetic disorder.
I have trouble with subtraction if there are too many zeros, and I cannot do long division.
you could go on the site and just talk politics. You would have lots of people agreeing with you on that site
Yeah. It's such a nice day I should be outside.
Another left leaning chat site, Knight? I'm shocked. Not.
Neither am I.
Yeah. I'm sure you are. NRA members and other neo=Nazi types are always shocked when they learn that most folks that have more than two or three functional brain cells tend to lean left.
Let me know when you get some.
Fact is the NRA and other neo-nazi types fully support the killing of children as long as they can profit from it.
Name calling - the calling card of the left
What I don't undertand is how you can live with yourself
No bigger name caller than Dumb Donald.
Just like the alcohol and tobacco industry - which kill far more children than the gun industry
But I suppose that you russian trolls don't really care as long as you can excite your moronic targetsx
Bull shit. No one has ever shot up a school and killed scores of babies with a bottle of gin.
you get the numbers, then we will talk
You simply disgust me. You and your Russian overlords.
Numbers? Show me where some has shot up a scholl and killed babies iwth a bottle of whilsky.
Show me the numbers you're so sure of.
Russian troll arsewipe.
let's see, I paid to used this site and I did not start name calling and I'm the troll?
Of course you did. On your russian troll expense acct. Courtesy of Mr Putin. He spends a million dollars a month to support scum like you.
Oh, my- what happened here?
Left-wing liberal here, just looking for an 8 letter word, not a fight...
Same here. what does the 8 start with?
ap apparently
AP 8/60
Can try and give you a nudge if you like?
I'm new here, and don't really understand the jargon
what does 8/60 mean?
8 letters long, worth 60 points
Ah, yes. thx
basically the point system is: 4 letter words equal the tile values, 5 letter = double...6=triple etc

Is the 8 a pl? If not, can i get a clue, pls?
i haven't got the 8 yet sorry
ap + consonant + ____ shalt not kill, plural
ap8 is a medical term - who knows if the s at the end indicates plural.
its not plural, I tried it as if its a single and it didn´t work
Thanks, Molly!
i had to present my speech today in my class, and I think I stuttered a lot, I don´t usually stutter though, I´ve got past that, I only stutter mostly when I´m nervous
I remember I was horrible at doing speeches at school
Plural in a clue means add an S, not that the word is actually a plural
it's a canker sore I think
sorry i was eating dinner, and mool did you mysteriously disappear earlier?
hello....can someone please give me STATS for the left column I and the middle column U?

You're welcome penquis. Nice to see you too.I have been stuck on my last 17 words since 12:46 this afternoon.
Pen's too sexy for her shirt, too sexy to get sensuous, too sexy for this grid...(pop culture song lyrics that the elderly may not understand)
And look, there is our long lost Min. Hi Min, nice to see you around.
hi molly....
I'm 68 & I get it-- I'm just too sexy for anything :)
heh heh....i am just 9 weeks from your age... ;o)
Plus or minus?

Nice!
Hello Molly! I've been popping in and out of here all day.
I am a silversmith & have taken to making REAL seaglass pendants-- Old Orchard beach is a treasure trove, as is Spectacle Island in Boston Harbor-- there was once a dump there...
Good evening. Sitting on the couch not feeling well. Hoping I will be better tomorrow...
nice...i have a friend who lives in Owls Head....she makes seaglass jewelry....nice stuff....
I have always loved seaglass :)
yes, true seaglass is quite nice....i have collected some in my travels around the area....
my friend also makes pieces with rocks....i made one in a workshop she conducted once....
Your friend really should try to check out Spectacle Island-- nice ferryride, and more seaglass than I've ever seen in one place...
ooh-- rocks rock!
where is it?...Spectacle Island, I mean...
It's in Boston Harbor-- one of several accessible by ferry...
Hello phandmd. Sorry you are not well. Feel better soon!
cool....i will mention it to her...
