^5 libarebel
we usually try to avoid politics in here but man, him saying he'd have run into the school to stop the shooter... even without a weapon! FFS!!!
feat
name that proper noun! capital of turkey
ankara
ding ding ding!
I know discussing politics here is dicey-- couldn't resist-- but what you just brought up was on my mind-- made me so angry I was perspiring from the forehead, which I only do in 90+ degree weather... sorry
pini - it's funny you said obi wan would be proud when the word is im8! seems like darth vader would be more the proud one there, lol
it's his music that comes into my head as soon as i see/hear the im8 word
Also, ^5 to you hurshy
ok, um, put an ending on ep4, it seems ridiculously redundant but it takes it.

good night all
Hi there, Nanette.
good morning all
what is this ?? who do i see before my eyes?? THREE flips in a row..... {{sprite}} hugs honey
:D Just back from the diabetes nurse. Good evening, my dear friend, and *hugssss* from me. How has your day been and how are you?
yeah wrell
yeah wrell
yeah wrell
lol
ugh... yeah well.... cardiac rehab .... i hurt but it has settled down now. plus or weather is a yo-yo. tonight ho, hot, hot
darn K. Already hate it. Guess there are no KN words today, tried all I could think of. Hmmmmzzz.
no kn words, you guessed correctly
good. Thanks hun.
yay you for doing the rehab. Glad the pain has settled by now, I know it is no fun to do what you need and then be punished with pain. *hugs* Ugh, the hothothot weather is no fun either. *cooling breeze from the netherlands, where it is freezing right now, bad enough to make your hands hurt*
lollll saw it on the news. even Rome has snow
yeah it is wintry here. All good, it is as it should be, but ughhhh it is cold! And to think that we have planned a canoe and camping trip next weekend. In Germany. It is gonna be colllllld! Layers, layers, layers... and a friend of ours has made us a heating device, and other friends are bringing a heater that we can keep :)
and the priests in Rome were out in St Peter's Square, having snowball fights
awesome :D Good priests, then.
so heaping coals on your heads would be welcome? loll
yes please :D
YaY rose!
hiya jwr :) *hug*
ks killed. Finally. Total K blindness struck here.
ummm, that was warm. thanks. I have fleece arm-warmers and fingertip-less gloves and and throws around shoulders and knees and a scarf -- I look like the Bird-feeding Woman in Mary Poppins
good for you sprite. * clapping vigorously, rah ! rah ! *
tuppence a bag! Lol, same here, jwr, all wrapped up
:P @ rose!
jwr, here's tuppence for you
snap, rose!
k's? What k's? I don' see no stinkin' k's.
Oops, wrong movie.
*splutter* SPRITE !! just stop writing what i am thinking please... lol
amen, jwr. No ks. Let's erase them from our language.
now why would I do that, rose? I love sharing your brainwaves :P
no jwr, you were correct. it was Mary Poppins.
Thanks for the money, you two (and you are both on the same wave-length, you know!) but feeding the birds is against the law here.
stupid law. Let's be anarchists. Tuppence a bag... oh lookielook, I dropped a bag! Sorry, officer, it was out of my hands... literally.
these three-person chats do get wildly interwoven
lolll, you noticed jwr.
we babblers are flexible like that, we are
yeah, i've got my ankles around my ears, in lieu of a scarf...
or ear-muffs...
good grief, woman, you KNOW you will hurt from that later... put those feet down.
It's not that I'm not a birdlover in general but they do tend to target me. The last time I got pigeon-goop in my hair it took three washings to get it oout.
*giggle* waves her pinkies at sprite. envy is such a burden..
pigeons are no birds. They are rats with wings.
granny - after that remark, you can no longer plead joint pain'
We just need to even the weather out, too hot and too cold both suck, how's about we all just have perfect weather? And no contortions ;)
see, jwr says so too :D
awwwww, jwr.... please....
hiya Kam! *hugs* How are you and your beloved today?
We call pigeons 'sky rats'
hey ya kam
ooh, glad you said that sprite. I live in chinatown, though, and all the elderly men spend their days playing mah jongg or feeding the pidges.
Hiya!! Figured I'd make it a foursome
I couldn't agree more, Kam. They are filthy. And omg that sound they make... irritating like nails over a blackboard
We pooped - all day Fri and today at the university clinic
mah jonng is a lot better then.
We ARE
wow Kam... that is taxing. *gentle relaxing vibes to the both of you*
don't know, sprite - never had a mah jong game dropped on my head
I love playing mah jonng. Not with chinese old geezers though. They play so fast and smart!
and the play SERIOUSLY
He is finished with all the testing and preliminary stuff - next appt he finds out if he is accepted for the surgery. Fingers crossed
hmz, you have a point there, jwr. It would depend if it dropped in its entirety or in parts, maybe.
oh yes, very seriously! As we say here, they play with the knife on the table.
oh, you lot must not have the wood pigeons we have. their cooing is so lovely to hear.... except when they become over enthusiastic...the Don, yells out... hey get a room you two...
ugh Kam, that is stressful! *prayers upwards that he may please be accepted*
lol @ Don, silly man. Love him.
when will next appt be, Kam?
poor kam and her DH. so much stress, pysical and emotional. prayers for peace and comfort, kam
Thanks, Sprite. Rose, do you guys call the mourning doves wood pigeons? The doves are the ones who coo around here - luckily the pigeons aren't up at our altitude...yet.
oh, could be kam. yeah that describes their cooing well.
Thanks, Rose. Next appt is the 23rd of March. I don't know why we have to drive all the way up there to find out, but that's how they do it.
.... I'd rather have it all at once, thank you. The idea of all those tiles hitting my head one by one by one. By the way, I did slip into another movie, rose. It's an American classic but may not have been popular outside (or anymore, it's an oldie)"Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!" is from a 1948 film The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
no, I don't know that movie
DH quotes that one often
He's an old movie buff, and used to wear a badge, therefore...
isit a bogart film kam?
People play with that line a lot -- my favorite substitute is "badgers"
is Bogie, yes
oh that reminds me, I need to see if Down To Earth is on netflix
nope :(
He's the movie buff...I fall asleep most of the time. These days, he takes his grandson to the theater - it's a waste to pay for me to nap
*sigh* wouldn't you know it? himself has a copy of that film, Kam. and now i am suffering through his idea of a synopsis of it.
Signing off, lovely people -- I'm being pulled into too many directions -- not a complaint, it's all delightful but I'd better see if I can make my goal on the grid (yuck! sounds like American football) and get back to the mystery I'm reading.
loll, jwr. np's honey. you gooo
I just don't care for old movies. I grew up without a TV in the house. Folks finally got one when I was in high school, but I was too busy with band and orchestra to watch much
Enjoy the grid, jwr, and then enjoy your mystery!
*hugs jwr* It was lovely to see you!
gosh, I'm so glad I can understand your language, rose! gooo y-self. Later alligator.
huuuuuggggs
kam, ditto here. i was flat out with ballet, piano lessons, pennant tennis....and then there was school. i was in my final years of secondary, studying 10 subjects plus the afore said.
and my mother couldn't work out why i failed in my school exams...loll
lol
Good morning fellow Babblers xx
I did pretty well with my grades too. Just glad I was the oldest of 2 - my younger brother was a straight A student his entire life
morning worzel
Morning Sprite
Well, it is 34 minutes into the morning here, so yes, good morning!
ahhhhhh......whoot whoot...... goooooood morning yourself, you sneaky little .... where have you been ??
I've been getting up too late to talk to you Mum! How the devil are you? xx
still alive... doing cardiac rehab atm. interesting experience. one hour of gym, then a lecture...
And I should imagine the lecture is more painful than the gym, am I right?
and you and the gorgeous Diane?
yup....
Me and the absolutely delightful Di are pretty good thank you. How's Dad? I hope he's looking after you sufficiently
i could've written the book on the subjects they are lecturing us on.
feel free to tell them you already know and can spend your time better, rose.
Dad is Dad. i keep a close eye on him, mate. he tends to over do it sometimes.
lolll sprite... i think they are beginning to realise that.
Yes, healthcare "professionals" are all very well but they have only done the theory lol, not the "practical" - they've never been through it. Also, tell Dad that he, too, has to take it easy - as long as he takes care of you haha
:D
so, dear worzel, are you and Diane both feeling better, and continue to improve?
Mentally I'm in a good place at the moment - physically not great but nothing serious. Di has been having some very down moments lately but she's worried about her health too and that isn't helping. Some terrible nightmares she's having too - at least she's got her physical health !!
brb, need some breakfast
Have a rasher of bacon for me sprite
okay, mate. putting you two in my prayer list. i know you don't believe, but i believe enough for all of us.
Aha - you know me so well! I remember as a teenager going to see Billy Graham do one of his shows to about 30,000 people at a stadium over here. Let's be honest if Billy himself couldn't convert me nobody can xx
back with goodies
Welcome back sprite - pass the bacon!!
no bacon, alas... simply yoghurt and muesli
Oh I don't mind a bit of muesli now and again - as long as it's Alpen
you could at least add a bit of fruit, either fresh or dried.
there is dried fruit in the muesli.
haha i misunderstood that mum - took that to mean adding fruit to a bacon sandwich lol
ugh, no mate. a bacon sarnie is a bacon sarnie. nothing added... loll
bit of tomato sauce, maybe a fried egg - ooooo stop it, making me hungry!!
it's either yoghurt with muesli for me, or 2 apples with yoghurt and specialK flakes.
Why doesn't bacon taste as nice as it did when I was younger? Mind you, very little does, alas
cos you need to find a country butcher who smokes his own bacon...no.... no rollies *sigh*
good grief.... you have to be a step ahead of kids these days...
The sad thing is, over here in the UK, due to the supermarkets there are so few butchers around now. I recall as a child a butcher out in the countryside where I lived who had his own smoke house, his own animals from his farm. The bacon was so nice.
I think you always had to be one step ahead of them
Have to pop off for a minute need a coffee to wake myself up!
sprite/rose just pooped back in to say g'night. Well, an hour into the morn but who's counting? Saw the word "bacon" and it reminded me to ask: Where's Crossy?
lol, yes, crossy loves his bacon. Night night, jwr, sweet dreams. *hugs*
but but but where IS he?
I haven't seen him in a year, I think.
on a little later in the day, I think
oh, for heaven's sake - though he'd just disappeared. My silly. Glad. Say hi for me if you see him, please.
dinner nearly ready. hugs and kisses to all. sprite, try and take it slow, honey.
will do, jwr! *hugs again*
rose, my dear friend, *hugs* and enjoy your dinner. Love to Don too. And healing vibes to your ole body ;)
Bye mum! Hope i haven't missed you xx
fireflies. Bye all, have a blessed day and a peaceful night
Okay first run through and I still need 92 words. Back later. Happy babbling everyone!
Good morning. theyve named this "cold snap" the Beast from the East, the coldest EVEFR in many places
Did that guy fix your flooring heat? If so, perfect timing.
l can't tell yet; perhaps it takes a while. l don't care, after seeing the dentist, yesterday, this is te first day without pain in the mouth
lark
sorry, the phone rang
<-- can't multi-task
"frack" not in dictionary yet?
neither is frick, can you believe it?
both of those should be in here
lt is so cold in the house that you can see your breath in the kitchen
ruby, did you lose your fire?
trivia: Frick and Frack is for any two people who are closely linked in some way, especially through a work partnership or strong friendship. The origin is from a famous partnership of Swiss comedy ice skaters
The fire is burning, the little space heater is on, l'm wrapped in shawls, sweatters and blankets
lt's horrible!
The good news is that when it's this cold in the house, all the germs die!
Reminds me of living on the homestead in Alaska with only a wood stove, the only warm place was right next to the stove. Brrr
Thank you for makibng me remeber a fly-fishing trip in went on in Bristol Bay in around '93
lt was even cold in August!
Did you catch any fish?
The best fish was a Rainbow on a fluffy bunny fly! We took pictures, gave it a pat and released it
Otherwise l thibnk l was catching chaar for lunch
Nice.
Pe** experience!
UUp to then, l had only done deep-sea fishing off Floridaa
The first year we were in Alaska we discovered the king salmon. We had never seen such a huge fish, my oldest brother got his gun and shot it.
hahah
How big?
We had no scale, estimate between 20-25 lbs. Later we learned to fashion a gaff hook and it saved on ammo
l mostly caught mackerel in FL, but one time, one was so big that they had to strap me into a chair so l wouldn't be pulled overboard
Not a that big of a fish, but we were from upstate New York and hadn't even seen anything like it
l live in view of a beautiful lake, but only went fishing in France once and it was ridiculous
Sounds like halibut fishing, the biggest I even caught was around 40 lbs, but it felt like 100 lbs trying to get it aboard
Where upstate? l lived in Binghamton foir a long time
Just north of Lake George
Never fished in th Susquehanna, either
When l was a kid, we used to spend summers at Trout Lake
above Bolton Landing
l'm old, so it's nice that l am remembering these things.
Bolton Landing was near us, I was born in a little farmhouse at the Glen
learned how to swim in the Hudson River
l always wanted to live in France, but l never thought about getting older and being cold!
I would struggle with that as well, because I grew up "cold" it was just normal, after living in Arizona my blood got thinned out and I get really cold now
Maybe living in Florida did that to me
it's beautiful here, though, if you send me an e-mail, l can send some pix
nelliekelley50@yahoo.com
mine is jacjkc@msn.com
ty, l know how annoying for others if we monopolize the chat!
True, but nevertheless interesting, I sent you an email.
see you soon
Good morning, all.
Morning, Judi.
Down to 111 after the first run through. Eyes crossing. Need more coffee.
Not much help in the chat today. :-(
