woot just got the an7 with no clues... feel like I'm "growing in Babble"
just when I thought I had an I word from the 2nd column it came from the third instead
some of the "assignment" of 1st letters seems arbitrary... you could start the word from 3 diff places
Good morning, y'all.
gm judi
Natasha, the "assignment" is always to the first possible letter that could start the word, counting top to bottom, left to right.
ooh learn something every day
thx vicuna

the I words on the 2nd column are eluding me...

mool an L word?
yes
but, have to go...next call to do
bye mool
good morning all
just read the chat - only su 6 food I can think of is a sundae --- don't think that's it!
hi cyber
cyber the word ends in i
its a paste for fish
not something I make then -- only things I put on fish are lemon juice or bernaise sauce
its used in Asian food
I still don't eat it or know about it
starts with tom cruise's daughter's name
didn't know tom cruise had a daughter
lol. Do you ever eat that fake crab? That's what it is...
never - ugh -- stick to the wild crab with at least 50% claw meat
cyber he had a daughter with Katie holmes about 10 yrs ago
NO6?
I like the fake crab too! It's really just pollock fish.
mlf --- all that info really doesn't help when the person doesn't know what you are talking about
you don't know who tom cruise is?
no6 - 16 candidates tried to get the Republican _____tion.
I don't know who katie holmes is either --- don't follow pop music and seldom watch a movie --- don't think there are many really good ones being made anymore. They all seem to be about the supernatural implausible or violence
but its much better you know something like fake crab as I didn't know that part I had looked up the word and that's what it said it was . what I told you:) That was a clue from someone earlier
yes I know who tom cruise is --- the actor who could be a double for my son if he was a foot taller
There are some good indie films made that don't contain any of those elements... I loved the Greta Gerwig film.
cyber ohh
ty Natasha for the NO 6
googled fake crab -- knew it was a white fish, but not the name of it
It's actually delicious.... dip in cocktail sauce!
great quick easy source of protein. I don't eat it too often as it's obviously not in its native state and I prefer eating "whole" foods, but I keep it around for occasional lunch.
prefer to use real crab for quick lunches -- nothing like a crab melt on a wholewheat cheese kaiser
love crab but out of my budget
That would be Mayonnaise Impossible
understood -- that changes when you become empty nesters! Watch at costco --- they get it in every once and a while
the real change will come when I no longer have to pay my medical insurance premiums. My kid's college tuition is less than that!!
But I should shut my mouth. I'm so grateful for Obamacare. No one would insure me before 2014...
ouch! --- I do understand that medical insurance is very expensive in the states
especially as you approach the goal line - 65, Medicare - the premiums skyrocket. Understandably as we older people use services a lot more
I'm one year, one week and 2 days away from the goal :-)
Never did understand while doctors, dentists and CEO's think they deserve 10 x more than what most people earn
I dunno... doctors put in years of training. They also have to take organic chem. That alone justifies it IMHO :-) Seriously... their decisions impact life/death... if they don't deserve to be well paid, who does.
I agree, but there is well paid and there is ridiculous -- a lot of them make more money than the prime minister or president.
same goes for elite athletes and actors
America is very much a winner-take-all society. Every man for himself. Marlboro Man. There is no social compact, no sense of mutual responsibility, no understanding that a rising tide should lift all boats, not just the big yachts.
It's in our national DNA. People move here from all over the globe hoping to strike it rich.
I don't think that's true of just america --- a sad comment on modern society
I often wish I'd been born in a society where there's a greater sense of mutual responsibility, but I see that crumbling even in Europe as the population diversifies...
There's a reason our son is at McGill... he is seriously considering becoming Canadian. He thinks the USA is a terrible society - no healthcare, too many guns...
It is the growing sense of entitlement among our young people and I accept my share of the blame for being of the first generation of parent who overindulged their children.
*first post world war generation
That's one area we did OK on. But no credit to us... we happen to have the single most "unentitled" child on the planet. Right now he's looking for an apt in Montreal for next fall and trying not to spend too much. I keep telling him it's OK and I'd prefer he live somewhere decent but he's bent on saving dosh.
Anyone have a nice 1BR in central Montreal to rent?
our health care isn't as good as some european countries, but our taxes aren't as high either. It all has to be paid for somewhere. Our healthcare advantage is a cap on doctor's salaries and the price of prescription drugs. Also a universal health care system allows for lower costs when it comes to running and maintaining our hospitals. Now we just need to get a cap on dentist's salaries. My last visit was $270 just to have my teeth cleaned, x-rayed and the dentist poke around in my mouth for 3 or 4 minutes.
I refuse x-rays unless there's something bothering me. We don't routinely x-ray any other body part -why do it to my head
our kids paid their own way too and were expect to have a summer job when they were older. But we paid for extra curricular activities, the toys, shoes, clothing that "everbody" had, lived in house big enough that no sharing was required, etc.
mo 6 please?
12 left, but need a break
add a vowel to the mo 5/12 before it
macca does the mo 5 you are referring to end in s?
No. ends with a vowel. add another vowel
ty still looking.......
Start with the M on the left. similar to the No 4/4
hello 199 to go

Natasha, I just popped in and saw the good news about your son and McGill. I will warn you, my son attended and tried the cheap apartment gig. His apartment was broken into twice. The second time with an ax to the door because of the newly installed locks. We went up in the middle of the night to be with him until daybreak and we could get him out and into a better place.
su 6/24?
looking, mac
su + the edge of a glass *** _ a vowel
just looked it up. it's, basically, why we were talking about fake crab earlier in the chog.

Congrats, Gramma!
nice one gram
I don't know why this one was so difficult for me.
Just a cup of tea is all I would like :-)
I found it rather hard with all the vowels all over the place in the words.
not been too bad for me, but yes...lot of one off words
It is funny how some grids go really smooth for me and some people struggle with it and visa-versa.
yep
I also find that if I step away for a while, I come back and find a bunch
had 30 to go about 20 minutes ago, and I have now found 18 of those
Yes I often do that. I will go and do an iron sudoku or just rest my eyes for a while.
also helps when you find a little block of letters that give you a bunch of words :)
hello! Taking a break from doing a horrible job at carpentry, tra la la
Hello, Trif. Enjoy a few moments with a nice grid of babble!
sounds like fun :)
what are you making trif?
hello! "lets hang up picture rails!" I said...."It will look great!" I said...."I am sure I can do it" I said.....
Ha!
Once I get all the nails sunk and the wood patched, and the joins painted it will be fine, I am sure...looks like holy hell now. Mitre cuts are IMPOSSIBLE
LOL bless you ((Trif))
I am hoping God grades on a curve.....
yeah, did some door reframing once....decided now I know how to do that, I will never do it again
I spent all day rearranging my parents furniture around and now my back is killing me.
seriously!
oh no zooz....see, I think that is where the universe can be quite unkind - when you do something for someone else, muscle aches should NOT be allowed after
lol tell me about it!
my poor beloved is quite fastidious. so I am making a nice dinner to soften the blow of the carpentry looking so rough right now
Aww you are so kind and thoughtful, Trif. I am sure he can see what it would look like once finished. And he could even help you too!
and DO NOT tell him if you should run into him, but....home handyman stuff is just NOT in his wheelhouse, bless his heart
god help us ALL if he does, zooz! I try to steer him toward car maintenance (see what I did there? lolol). He is GREAT with cars
Ah that answers the last part of my comment then lol.
Well I suppose we all have our weaknesses and strengths!
Mostly weaknesses on my part though LOL
bless him x a million - when I went away with my dad to visit my daughter at college, I came home to discover Beloved had painted the trim in a room upstairs, as a "surprise" for me. Yes, I was MIGHTY surprised by the drips everywhere, and the fact that he painted the varnished stair rails. But I gave him a big kiss and acted delighted. Because he meant absolutely well, and it was JUST PAINT.
LOL He is a lucky man to have you, Trif!
likewise.
and thanks.
Good to hear :-)
I remain stymied by those damn mitre cuts though - can't figure out how they went so incredibly wrong. Wish crossy was here.....
Can you not google it, trif?
Crossy was here a few days ago. No help to you now I know.
Maybe a Youtube video, Trif?
Hi evreyone :) Congratulations gramma and zooz!
Hello, TK :-)

May I interrupt the Trader Kate and Trifioso show?
Hi Scrabs, certainly!
Hi! I am home after weight lifting at the YMCA.
How did that go, Scrabbler? Are you sore?
I am not sore now. My muscles were trembling near the end, so that means I worked hard. I am disappointed that I have lost just 7 lbs in the last 5 mo. My Appalachian Trail hike is in 3 wks. I am in much better shape but I want to lose weight.
Likely that your muscle to fat ratio has changed - how are your clothes fitting? WHEN spring finally shows up I'm sure a few more (winter) pounds will magically melt away as well. Rmember that overall health is mmore important than weight!
Scrab have you tried intermittent fasting - eat 1/4 your usual calories 2 days/week - I did find that jump-started loss of lbs for me anyhow - a middle-aged woman with a defunct thyroid who's also on Tamox (which puts the lbs on)
I am down a size and in better shape, so I have made progress.
I think that's the main thing! Making progress I mean
Natasha, I have been doing time-restricted eating since Oct. I eat within a 6-8 hr window every day.
I would say that is great progress Svrabbler. Why are you not pleased? WEight that goes n slowly should come off slowly forlasting results.
Yes, that's borne out by science. Quick loss leads to rapid regain.
The body feels threatened by the speed of the loss and slows down your metabolism to try to keep you from starving yourself :-)
Somehow I had this goal, clearly unrealistic, of losing 20 lbs in 6 mo before my big hike.
Wow, I hadn't heard of doing that much time restriction! I have been doing the 12-hour fast as my weakness is snacking in the evening.
My body is a work in progress and I am making progress. My heart rate doesn't go as high when I exercise and my HR recovers quickly now.
That all sounds fantastic!
Ok, I need to be nicer to myself.
YES
Yes
Just read your Confederate soldier poem BTW. Tears in the eyes.
Yes, Natasha, it is a special poem.
I have an article I will try to find for you Scrabbler, If Iam lucky and find it I will send it to you. It is about infrequent bursts of intense energy expenditure for very short period of time. It was from a reputable source...the published paper was interesting.
HIgh-intensity interval training = HIIT
NY Times "Well" section had that info a while back. 10 second bursts of intensity interspersed w/"regular" effort. My DH does it on his exercise bike.
I was doing mostly cardio from Nov-March then switched to mostly strength training.
hi again - 12 to go and I will probably need help as I am struggling with this one. Grats on the weight loss, Scrabbs -- wish I had your fortitude.
I want to carry less weight when hiking and biking, and to just get in better shape.
you make me tired just reading your regime!
I am a bit concerned that you are eating in such a small window of time. Are yu giving your brain daily cues that starvation is upon us and calories must be conaserved?
fr 6 please?
Sometimes I wonder if I need more calories, but on other days I eat too much within that window.
Well, I suspect I am at 2000 calories/day but I need to cut back to 1600 for weight loss.
FR 6 Fold on the underside of the tongue.
The grid looked very unfriendly, so I didn't start nan.. I will help you look though
