forgive my ignorance, but if the Lickety clues are up, why continue to post 7-letter word hints ?
cause we like to do it collaboratively rather than with the computer generated lists
Because not everyone is looking at Lickety yet and I guess it helps.
before lickety, we got a list from brandyjack, but he didn't post it for hours after the flip usually. and before THAT there was no list at all. people got in the habit of working together and we like it.
OK, that makes sense ... working collabortively is quite helpful
we all have tourettes syndrome judy.. we just like yelling stuff out at night

Bonjour! Perfect day for a big grid. l bought most of the floweers for pots, borders and dec yesterday, but overdid it and now l'l suffering

Hi Ruby. Nice that you got pretty flowers for your outside areas.
Hello, Molly
The wisteria has opened and although it looks scraggly, it smells delicious!
Wisteria is so pretty.
l like it better in August when it has leaves as well as flowers for the second round. My mother (R.I.P.) had a strong aversion to the odor f wisteria, going back to the 30's when she was pregnant. lt's funny to remember little stuff like that!
The flowering trees around here seem to have withstood the slow arrival of Spring the best. The daffodils tried and withered. But the trees are still nice and colorful.
The tulips were lovely and then, in oneday, it got hot and they all died. Happily, at the same time, the trees got their shiny spring leaves;
l Wonder if this will be a good "fruit year"
I would love to have enough land some day for fruit trees.
ln the first years, l planted several which died after a year or two since l had no experience: pear, sanguine peach, apricot, etc
But l still have a pretty, but tasteless cherry, hazelnuts (for te Neighbors; l'm allergic), blackberries, red and black currants raspberries, two plms (one mirabelle, on purple) and a magnifent fig tree which gets figs some years (twice!) and none other years.
Also quince, but for its flowers, the fruit always rots before it ripens
half! nbt
cesta
whoops, too excited!
As if I don't have enough flowers on the patio, I just picked up another at the grocery store. It is called Stock and it is a great shade of purple.
we have stocks in the garden and smell wonderful in the evenings not in the daytime!!
Thanks for that. I will check out the smell later today. I've never had these before.
Good morning!
Hi Bich, still traveling?
No, we've been home for a week.
Oh I see. I can't keep up with you travelling Bichons. : )
It's awful coming home from a trip where you are waited on, eat great French food, and be called Madam
Yeah, that sounds like a crash to reality.
ohmygosh, actually found a 9 on my own! LL

After all, how many people are actually laughing out loud when they post LOL

Trif, how is your dear mother, if I may ask?
she is being discharged today around noon, I'm heading up to fetch her as soon as beloved gets his act together. she will have constant monitoring for the first 48 hours, and then we will reassess
thank you for asking. she sundowned WICKED last night, totally lost her basket. Hoping she quieted and rested some
She is going back to her previous home?
Aging sucks, especially when the brain withers away and atrophies.
yes, the memory care unit. it is our dearest hope she can stay there. it may mean transitioning her to a wheelchair to eliminate fall risk. NO idea how that will go
She must be kept safe.
yes.
DON4T YOU THINK IT MIGHT BE BETTER NOT TO BE AWRE OF YOUR DECLINE, l4M SICK AND WILL ULTIMATELY DIE FROM THIS? BUT THE FACT THAT L4M STILL SHARP? CAUSES ME TO OBSESS ABOUT DETH
Watch the TV show, Catastrophe, for numerous laughs and a taste of Ireland.
mY HUSBAND? WHEN HE LOST HIS MARBLES WAS OBLICIOUS
I am not sure, ruby. I am really not. She is not aware of her decline, but we are
sorry about shouting
Agreed, Ruby.
shout all you want, ruby, it is a suckful thing
My husband didn't know. lt was hard on me, not on him.
For me, every day is precious but l go t sleep thinking about dying and Wake p the same way
But we don't usually get to choose our ending. I was at a funeral yesterday for a friend that, at age 76, collapsed with a massive stroke. She never regained consciousness. That was a perfect end for her but not her family or friends.
Maybe my new oral chemo, Xeloda, will buy me some time
Hello. Hugs all round ((((())))
((soodle))
(((( soodle ))))) boy oh boy do I need a cup of tea with you right now!
Soodle, I was thinking of you when watching the TV show, Catastrophe, with Irish actress Sharon Horgan. Hilarious show.

off to the hospital, apparently beloved is ready now (eye roll) MEN!
Yeah ruby

Memento mori. We must accept that we will die in order to truly live.

scrabbler - I love that show. Sharon Horgan is brilliant.
Trif Much love & hugs & good wishes.
Someone told me to watch it and I was quickly hooked. It is so well-written and so funny.
xoxox
l asked my oncologist friend, during one of my crises, if l was dying, and she said "We are all dying".
How you doing Rubes.
Im sorry Trif I can relate.
Yes, we are, Ruby.
Hi Cos. I see you are going through hell. Virtual hugs to you & Ryan.
l'm loving spring, giving the pond fish names; some are more than a foot long
What kind of fish, Ruby?
You should take up fishing!!!
The weather is crazy, but l'm so happy to be warm after this cruel winter
It is snowing here now. I woke up to see a white ground.
It has been the worst winter that I remember. I crave some Vitamin D.
I've just been out mowing ( or as I say, moaning,) the lawns. Ancient lawn mower, ancient me .... I fought the lawn & the lawn won!
Really, Scrabs?
Oh, no, Soodle.
Yes, snow on April 29. I recall snow on some Mother's Days.
Fortuneately we only have cold rain

ty Luv
Hi bichon and Luv :)
hi TK
no more skating for us for a while now :(
hi kate
Are you finally getting some decent weather your way now Luv?
phae is it la**** boards?
It comes & goes, kate. I'm so tired of colder weather
ah Kate, that is what I miss most I think, skating at "Little Switz" the most beautiful outdoor rink I've ever seen
We all are, it's been a cruel season thus far.
my blueberry bush died -- i spent all morning trying to dig it up -- gave up for now
yes it has. But it's supposed to be close to 70 tomorrow & am going kayaking so I have that to look forward to
hi ((flo)), where is Little Switz?
are you sure Shirl? It might just be very late to bud this year... lots of false starts to spring
Luv, we hve to wait until ed. for the 70F... but should get close on Tues.
i started by trimming it back and all the branches were dead -- it's a goner. the other bushes are already budding
ah, thinking of you in Ontario, but still too far - Little Switzerland in Scarborough, Ont. it was about half way between West Hill (where we lived) and the High School - we took the bus up but often walked all the way home
"we" were quite a large group
Oh flo, I've not been there - rarely ventured east of Yonge
St. I used to attend summer skating in West Hill though :D That does sound like fun, nice to get out with "the gang"...I miss Toronto
It's been a hard winter for the garden Shirl... I haven't been out much to inventory here - it's been way too wet.
ta 8/40 how much a hooker charges-LOL
great clue Luv ty
sorry Luv, didn't get that at all
<pictures flo as part of a "roving gang of teenagers", laughing and raucous..>
just finished, any clues needed?
ta 8, pls
help with either ci9 pls
British prostitute bichon... LOL Luv!
sorry, don't know what that is
both ci 9's build off the ci 7, latin plural & different cons at end
how much do you charge for that small pie bichon?
the 8 builds off the 7
sorry peri, my clues aren't clear, both 9's build off the 8, which builds of the 7
even more confused
it is truly a site to behold - built up from the beginning normal arena size, to eventually go around a large circle of trees = beautifullly lit with coloured lights. Created and run by a family, name eludes me at the moment - their kids went to same high school as a great majority of us. It was in a valley, beside a creek that supplied the water to flood it. A wonderful Scottish family, Dad did the flooding and Mom ran the gate and snack bar. You could hear the wonderful music long before you entered that part of the valley
the ci 9s come off the ci 7
ci + a part of a boat, or to be strict
then add a vowel to the 7
and latin plural for a 9
I still don't undertstand the ta8
ty Luv
wow flo... that sounds great. I had never heard of it before - I wonder if it still exists? That's quite an undertaking for one family! It must have been like a fairyland .. I only know of a few outdoor rinks (and of course, the one at city hall.
the opposite of sweet + to be angry is to be i****
tyvm Luv
Kate, if you know anyone from Scarborough, they'll know it
I do and I will flo... if it still exists, I will search it out. Sounds like it was quite a large piece of property.
ok I'm off to enjoy what little sunshine we have. HAGD everyone
Bye Luv
Kate, sorry, I'm forgetting how long ago that would have been!!! Probably only if the son kept it up -- or, if it was sold. It's been so long since I've been there - ugh!!! I hate to think back It would have to have been taken over by others, when I think of my last visit!!! have been living in BC since '95. wow but it is all such a wonderful memory - I do hope someone kept it going - it drew from quite a distance.
he 8/ 45, pls
With the price of land in the GTA...all of Scarborough is pretty much built up now. It would be nice if it wa still there!
I am loathe to give you a hint bichon.
ty TK
he who he************ is lost..... same root word
thanks Kate
I will inquite about it for sure flo!
was forgetting how long ago it was Kate!! Sorry, but I do hate to think it hasn't been kept up - it drew from far and wide - East end of TO, and farther east to Highland Creek I'd say
https://tinyurl.com/ychhjjc3
na 7/28, second one, pls
I just did a search... sounds like the Scarborough golf course swallowed it up. The like is to a FB discussion.. there is a pic, though not a good one flo
not nicer?
did that help bichon?
ty again Kate
np
ahhhhh, what a shame Kate - but of course the family would be getting on!!!! Their son was older than I which means OLD - but such fond memories so many folk have to remember
The golfing season is much longer than skating season!!!
There were several thread wher people were sharing thier memories of Little Switz, yes, it seems like Toronto lost something rather wonderful.
who skates here?
2nd in5?
I do bichon..or I did. We used to have chats about the competitions way back when...
I haven't skated for many years now!! probably only once since last time at Little Switz which would have been early 1960s
bichon I cant skate but i enjoy watching people who do
non-reactive (like a gas maybe)?
they just rolled up the rink at rockefeller center
I am a big figure skatin fan. Daughter used to skate competitively
and wow, aren't I aging myself !
kate huh?
bichon i used to watch figure skating all the time on tv. i haven't watched it too much over the ;years though

that's the third time that came up
How many Germans does it take to screw in a light bulb? Nein
And reich is not a word because the only words playable are the ones approved by the ancient, dinosaur Enable word list. They pick and choose what words can be used.
Yes, I think any time something can be done over again, you should be able to add an er and make that a word. You can totally re ra4/4 something.
I think because Reich is a proper noun
Totally agree with smithchick, and am annoyed reich isn't a word.
Reich means realm in German. I don't think that is a proper noun. Enable will accept some foreign words "merde" and not others "merci".
I do know all that of course but you try googling reich (all l/c) nothing comes up except with capital
Doesn't stop me from grumbling while playing. ;)
: D Champ. Grumbling while playing seems to be the Babble norm.
grumble away (as I grumble about all the spanish words accepted - not being in the US) but it is interesting to understand while some are accepted or not
It's my martini....making me quite the rebel.
It is interesting. Like the slang na5/14. I was surprised that it was accepted.
Which is why I should stop "thinking" and just type.
I find it sad that people in other countries think that Spanish words have something to do with the US. I guess this country has become so populated with Hispanic people that Spanish words are now associated with America.
You know i live in Houston. My church has over 8500 families, and the Hispanic community is more than half of that. I guess their words are assimilating, and it's more colloquial now.
Being from a border state, it's to be expected.
We have a lot of Latinos from many places and they make up an important part of our country. Also, many Spanish named cities are so named because Spanish explorers were conquerers.
In California we have more Hispanic Americans than any other ethnicity.
Houston is extremely diverse. We have 'em all!

happy full moon - especiall for Pinkula; it is named for her! April 29 8:58 pm Pink Moon
Oh my! *blush* Thx! :)
The name Pink Moon comes from the pink flowers – phlox – that bloom in spring. Other names for this Full Moon are Sprouting Grass Moon, Fish Moon, Hare Moon, Egg Moon, and Paschal Moon.
Very cool, TK...thanks for sharing! :)
UW, just something I stumbled upon :)
Learn something new everyday, right?
yup.. the site also had a neat explanation of the Paschal moon... it how they figure out when Easter is... first full moon in April... Easter is the following Sunday.
and here's where the easter eggs and bunnies might also arise from: The ancient Hare Moon and Egg Moon names are often referenced a potential reasons for the emergence of the modern Easter Bunny laying Easter eggs.
got bumped and just got back
of course, there is also the whole fertility thing for crops in new season ;)
