my grandson, when he was little, thought all dogs were like his own and often pushed the boundaries with strange dogs - very scary - fortunately he is older and wiser now but still has an attraction to animals
He's never seen a chow chow before; they are quite rare here
l explained to hiu that the dog must approach first and only then, he can offer his hand
We dont see many here in SA - too hot I think and they then need to be shaved which spoils their good looks
They stay in the shade when it's hot but l would never shave one. Most of their beautyncomes fromtheir fur.
And the fur protects them both from,the cold (Raffie sleeps outside ofteh when it's way below freezing) and from the heat, but it's not often that it's warmer than 28C here.
Here in a Durban summer often over 32C with very high humidity - so not good for woolly dogs

Hello, l'm back. The garden guy, Gilles, has been here most of the day, planting tomatoes and geraniums and various plants in pots on the deck and in the border.

We are up to 13 here (only 2-3 yesterday) will be 19 by Wed.! be careful - no drinking with straws, nothing too hot or cold, and gargle with salt water. Swelling will take a while to go down, but should feel a bit better by tomorrow. Can you take ibuprofen or aspirin for it to take down swelling?
