grid
all those a and o clumping
hello everyone -- as usual I'm not seeing any of the long words
jane.. there's another swimmer in here!
hmmmmmm.....
oh, wait I already have two marine mammals
ah.. yup
three if you count variations
speaking of animals, i saw the funniest sign at a meat counter today "wild caught bison steaks"
over 1/2 way. no 8 yet
Hmm.. wild caught?
phantom: risque
riot
ooops sorry
That's what I thought. First of all, most wild bison are protected. Second of all, how the heck would you catch one? What kind of bait would you need?
more like wild shot
got an 8! yay
and another
but I think they were both called
thank goodness, no iso- words
crash - good night all
night nan
Maybe I should stop now also. 54 left. My age! :-)
oops. Now I can't. Because i found another word
name that proper noun! early gaming console
Clues are up
Atari

ty lickety
That is a weird in8. Thanks hursh
I'm over 1/2 way on everything now. So I think I shall go to bed. My brain is fried from doing back taxes for folks!
ah crap - down to 1, and it is an 8, and I cannot see it!
sc8/45 ?
yep
is it a common word?
no - no definition - starts with the mark left by a wound + 3rd and 4th vowel ends with 2/3 of what your eyes do
wow, ty!
I have been monkeyig like crazy
i had to use the list and more words to find that
*quietly steals into babble* Good morning all :)
apparently it means thin dry and not green... botany term
hey sprite!
hiya kje!
morning sprite
hiya ursh
supposedly related to a similar word, but different ending, that is an anatomy term meaning thin and dry.... I have never heard/used that term
thanks for that new word, would never have found it by myself
so there ya go... new word for the day
the rest of the grid is not bad at all, all known or easily monkeyed
(just to jinx you all)
bwahahahaha
lol
any clues before I head to bed?
Hiya, Sprite!
*hugs Kam* Hello, dear one! How are you and your beloved doing?
I'm fine, he's having a bit of difficulty cutting his meds and getting his implant to work right, but he's getting it figured out.
And how are you? Have you and your sweetie been on vacation, or just busy?
ok, gn then... happy babbling all
good to hear you are fine! I hope M's struggle will be over soon and things will settle down.
night night, kje, thanks!
have been way too busy. Right now my love is out canoeing and camping for a week, with the dog. So I am finally getting some me-time, which was desperately needed. Am so, so tired. But otherwise, all is well:)
Ah, I get me-time next week, but he's going somewhere cool - both weather-wise and fun. It has been over 100F for days here, my poor plants! I hope he enjoys his trip and you enjoy resting up!
good for him. And some you-time is always lovely.
I'm curious, how big is your dog? M wants to get kayaks, and I hate leaving the dog home, he's my baby.
M is actually going to Father Sit. Dad is getting a bit dotty and needs supervison. His full time lady is getting her knee replaced Monday
we have a king charles cavalier spaniel. It is a small breed spaniel... his head comes to my knee, more or less
oh nice! His father might really enjoy having someone familiar around for a bit.
Ah, I have a Springer. Too big. I had a king charles back in the 90s. Sweet girl. I love *all* spaniels!
spaniels are the best. Springers are lovely, but yes, too big for a kayak. Switch to Canadian canoes, lol, you can bring any dog then.
Dad loves it when he goes over - it's just a 3-4 hour drive, so day trips are out.
nbt nbs
May I email you about tipis? We're getting one
i hear ya. My daughter lives at that kind of distance. Quite doable, but not for a quick visit
yes of course, I always welcome a mail from you!
tipis are wonderful!
Thanks! Will do so later. Back to the grid! *Hugs!*
*hugs right back at ya*
{{sprite}} hello my darling friend. have missed you. xoxox how are you? and Rob?
*hugs rose until she squeaks*
missed you too, hun, lots. Things have been way too busy. I am okay, but very tired. Right now a few days with me-time though, with my love and dog both canoeing and camping out.
and how are you and Don doing?
*squeak, squeak* gently, honey.... loll. gosh i miss your hugs, and smiles, and eyes, and face...aw heck...i miss all of you.
don't start. Right now I could cry at the drop of a hat and I do miss seeing you IRL so much.
oh, that reminds me... someone sent me a video of my singing performance of a while back. It is horrible quality and you have to turn on your sound all the way up to hear something, but it does give an impression... would you like to see it?
in 2 days, it is 3 months since my last infusion. now M pain per se, except for my shoulders. but, sleep pattern upset, sweating really bad, cramps starting up despite oral magnesium.. i think i have to book in soonish.
oh please sprite. you did send me a youtube link ages ago... same one?
*no FM*
no, this is a video, not a link.
3 months is amazing, honey. Yes, book a new one, today. Oh wait, it is evening there. Tomorrow.
Oh, Rose, FM sucks so bad! My hubby had to go to his last programming appt by himself because I had fog so badly I couldn't see straight. Keep taking care of yourself!
poor you kam. my heartfelt EMpathies for you. sprite and i can so feel for the brain fogs.
Thanks, Rose. Can't drive when I can't see straight. Hubs is such a trooper when it comes to flares, he totally takes care of everything. I'm glad I'm doing better this year, cuz he has needed me more than ever.
good for your DH. yeah, and mine is the same when i am in an acute exacerbation. he still has a little difficulty when picking when i am due for an infusion. but once i alert him to that fact, he is great and very attentive.
I just wish he'd tell me when he's having an issue...I thought he was being passive-aggressive when it turned out he was having trouble with decreasing his meds...but he didn't tell me, and I didn't see any outward symptoms. Guys hold it in too much some times cuz they're the "strong ones" - yeah, they are, but come on! Tell me when you have a problem, I'll help!
it is a guy thing, Kam... They think it is complaining to tell us, and that we will feel pressed to find a solution. They have to learn that sharing works a treat, lol
I know!
just like we have to teach them that when WE complain, they are not supposed to fix things. They are supposed to listen and validate our feelings, is all.
Would be easier at times if we could read minds. Glad we can't, wouldn't want to know everything, lol!
good point, Sprite
ugh no, that would be pretty intense
Hi all
*hugs Liz* Hi there! How are you and your beloved doing?
I just hate having to ask 5 differnt ways to get an answer. Pride. I understand, but...
Hi Liz!
excuse me you two. but my DH tells me ALL the time when something is wrong until i get to screaming point. sometimes he should suck it up, but he doesn't. particularly when he has a migraine. he will bust his foo-foo valve to get out and pick up something which HE needs, but if i want to do something, it is nothing but whinge, whinge. i apologise for seeming heartless but i feel very put out when he acts like that.
Hugs, Sprite. We're very well. Keeping very busy at the moment. Hi Kam - hope your hubby's doing well.
as you should, rose. That attitude of Don is pretty aggravating. He is a little spoiled now and then...
i am getting two different messages from him.
{{lizgirl}} and hugs for himsel.
Hugs to you too Rose
You need to realise, Rose, that when a man says that he'll do something there's no need to remind him about it every six months.
HAHA, Sue! 2 years later...
lolll. yes sue. did you know i have been waiting for my new kitchen for 14 years. he pulled out my upright cooktop then, and i am still waiting....
lol Sue :)
Early days, Rose. Early days.
rose, darling, stop waiting and get a handyman to do it.
roflolll sue
I'm planning on hiring fellows to fix stuff during my "me" time
BBL. Hugs all.
he won't let me sprite. not without a roaring discussion first.and i just can't handle that.
That's how I've got around things. There's a man in the village who does a good job and doesn't charge much. He also saves a lot of rows.
bye lizgirl. lovely to see you.
no need for any discussion, just get it done and let him roar. For crying out loud, 14 years is plenty time enough.
Can't you just set it up to be finished, Rose?
don't know kam. i have offered and offered. and now he tells me, it's because i haven't helped him to measure the areas for the deck roof and the carport. he says he needs undercover areas to work under, while he does the kitchen.
lolll. i can HEAR all those eyeballs rolling up into your collective hairlines.
Excuses! Mine at least admits he hasn't felt up to doing the work. We have rotted siding on the back of our house - I'm going to be making calls and getting things set up while he "Dad-sits" next week.
I've offered and offered too. Now I'm getting it fixed!
indeed, rose *eyeballs way way up* It is not his place to LET or not LET you do anything. You are a grown woman in your own house. Have it fixed and just tell Don that is the way it is and that 14 years of patience is plenty.
hmmm, have jut checked the web site of the company we want to buy the roves from. they will send out someone to measure the area needed, then send the particulars to the manufacturer, they will even come out and assemble the rooves for us. yes, there will be a labor charge, but who cares? i will pay anything.
yayyyyy darling, that is the spirit!
Yes!
Firewords!
wtg Kam!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WTG KAMANJAH!!!
Take care, ladies! Rose, get your cooktop! Sprite, relax and enjoy your "me" time! *Hugs!*
{{kam}} xoxox to you both
Kam, take care. *hugs* and sleep well
phantom: sequin
i kept trying to find quince ot quinoa
oh yes, quinoa, same here. Bugs me. I sent you an email with a link to the singing vid... file was too big to send as attachment.
thanx honey
fireflies. *hugs* my darling, I have to be off to work, got a trainee today so get to play mentor :D Love you. Be strong, calm and self-assured, honey. You deserve a home that has a working kitchen.
*waves at the rest of babble* Y'all have a blessed day and a peaceful night.
WTG SPRITE !! enjoy your 'down' day sweetie. xoxox
Themosteffective way to get husbands to fix kitchens, is to stop cooking!
good morning friends
Afternoon all! Please may I have stats for the E in the top left and the R in the bottom row?
the r in the bottom row is a plural - ro5
OK, I feel silly now. Slap me with a fish
the e in the top row is a plural as well - es4
Now I feel VERY silly.
Thanks!
no no, it's FINE - I had to ask for clues earlier this week for a word that was factually right in a line - just went babble blind for a second
I think it's cuz I'm babbling between graphing unengaged users for FordPass ;)
(pretending she has any clue what that means) Oh, that does sound challenging! (hoping comment is appropriate and masks ignorance)
It's perfect ;) (FordPass is an app for Ford owners, that no-one really uses despite Ford badly wanting people to use it)
is app free? that seems like a good way to get people to use it, lol
It is free. Download it at once - you'll make the North America FordPass team very happy (I do Europe)
I imagine owning a ford is probably a prerequisite?
No - it was originally envisioned as a 'mobility app' that would be good for non-Ford owners. Having said that, it is way more useful if you do have a Ford
But really, the point was I'm at work, and am sneaking a babble from time to time - that's my excuse for missing the bleeding obvious ;)
Good morning, my Babble friends. :)
crossy!!!!! xoxoxox
sorry, got distracted.….my friend sent me a link to a survey put out by the reelect trump committee - hope they enjoy my responses!
hello...any one here know any thing about laptops?
I'm probably on a watch list now
I don't phae, I am sorry
Tough little grid today. How is Trif this fine day?
Hi crossy, nice to see you
Good morning everyone :) Just making my second cuppa!
good morning, babblers! prob wont be around much today, but wanted to pop in and say hello!
Hi Eva!!! :) NIce to see you - busy day today (like aren't they all?)
Crossy might know phae.. nisce to see you stranger!
lots on my plate work-wise...though happily, i found out a meeting that i already thought would be pointless has been canceled/rescheduled -- so there's an hour of my life back! they are also moving me to a new/bigger office. so im excited about that, but it will eat up some of my day.
'morning, folks
had a rough morning - woke up early with a massive headache, but im starting to feel human again.
Hello welki!!!! :)
Eva, so sorry you have a sore head.. is it weather related? Hope it lifts soon for you.. On the other hand, a new and bigger office is wonderful news! How wonderful!!!
not really sure what caused it...probably just sheer exhaustion. i had a bit of a headache, and i made the mistake of going to bed without treating it. whenever i go to sleep with a headache i ALWAYS wake up with a headache, and its usually even worse. so, just par for the course.
Might be a bit of dehydration as well Eva? That is weird about going to bed with a headache...wow, not pleasant. :( Do you get migraines?
Morning.
Hi sukee, I have missed you lately in the chog! :)
No one seems to be here when I log in lately :)
Can you clue the top E, there is a clue in the chog for it but I have that ES 4 and it is a different one.
or at least states
stats
eo 5/10
eo 5/10 es4/4
There have been some quiet times, especially in the smaller grids..and all the nice weather is probably pulling more folks out into the glorious sunshine!
Thank you, thought I was blind for a second :)
Great, and found it.
TY dose and Luv, hello :)
Well, I have been out every morning this week so didn't have too much time to play.
Of course, I can't be here long, have work to do.
Busy can be good - if not too busy???
I hope you can pop back in later.. there are usually folks here in early evening, most days anyway.
I'll try.
:)
Missing baseball because of the all-star break, so nothing I really want to see on TV
Ah...it's that time of year... I'll have to look around and see if I can find the game.
Happy I got the Qs and the Ws
Sportsnet, channel 22 usually
Baseball is back tomorrow
Good start! Lots of points and greyed out tiles is always great!

Hi shirl :)
<--- loves ruru's puns :)

Hello babblers

vowel.
ends in the sugar suffix.. SC 8
ELEGANT!!!!!!! big hugs and greetings from Niagara :)
Hello kate, HUGS. Hope you're well.
I am well, how are you and yours? I missed Crossy this morning...
does it start with sc4/5?
found it, yes it does
We're fine thanks, yeah we were both on earlier.
sc 4/5 + vowel + you smell with your n***
ty luv
Lovely day up there for you Elegant? It is beautiful down here...
got it
A little warm, Hopefully it doesn't get much warmer. I hate cold but I also don't like it rally hot.
I finished too soon LOL. I'm procrastinating because I need to work on some paperwork involving numbers and I can't get them to balance :-(
really*
I haven't listed, but I seem to be stuck at 42 left - I have all the 8s but only 1 7....(in7)
If you would like clues or stats let me know matty
I don't have any of the 7s
We have been just perfect here for a few days now. Sunday was our last real scorcher (humidity has dropped quite a lot here) and the nights are cool, so sleep is much more comfortable :) I asm in heaven!
ca7,32 is the only 7 I have
Congratulations Luv!!!!!
there are two ca 7/32's
and in 7/40
I have an IN 7/40 prefix + 5 lettes word and pl for an 8
thanks Kate
oooh! I don't have those CA 7s.. msut go hunting!
(the IN 7/8 is a big scorer)
It must be just me lol it says it's 16 here right now...
as in big points... not a hint
Probably about right.. we have been down to high 50s overnight here..
ty got all the sevens and one eight.
we are at 22 now... is your thermometer in the shade, perhaps on the west or south wall?
Have all the 8s, only one 7... Hi mixi :)
missing an ca7, have the circus folk, clue for the other?
start with the ca5 - diamond weight
That was the weather ap on my phone. I've been running a fever lately so it's probably just me.
well, that was easy :) thx mixi
... ca 7/32 .... sounds like a common japanese martial art
TY shirl!
Fever??? why a fever... do you have a summer cold?
cajudo?
Heya everyone. Jumping in & outta grid quickly for a few minutes, then gotta run. Everyone have a great day.
ty dose!!!
good morning everyone :)
starts with K
Hi HL, have a good one, glad you popped in!
No, I just get random fevers. Dr.s can't nail down why.
got it now dose, ty very much :)
fighting off some environmental allergens maybe Elegant?
I have no idea, I am asmatic but don't suffer from allergies. The things I'm allergic to are serious, but not environmental. Mostly medications.
Huh! A mystery, to be sure... hope the doc figures it out.. are the fevers very high or just low-grade? Hope you're keeping warm!
The onlt thing in nature that I'm allergic to are bees and I freak out if there is anything like that near me. I completely panic lol
Don't blame you one bit Elegant... not nice to have to think about stabbing yourself with an epipen... :(
Low grade, just enough to make me warm and not feeling the greatest.
ugh :( plenty of liquids I guess?
I should get an epipen lol the last time I was stung on the tip of my finger was a child, my whole arm swelled to my collarbone. I'm very careful and haven't been stung since.
as a child*
Made it to 1/2 way. I think the rest will be a whole lot harder to find. Byeeee TK, Ele, dos, nan, lurkers
I don't knkow what their shelf life is, but it might be a good idea to have one on hand... you do go out hiking and what not... not likely to get stung unless you anger them, but better safe than sorry?
Bye HK, the grid seemed a bit friendlier once I looked at it for a few minutes! HAGD!
bye helen
HI nan :)
ASA is the most deadly thing to me, I have a severe allergy to it and it could kill me.
geez, then you have to be extra careful with OTC meds too!
sc8?
It would probably be a good idea to get one. Yes it's amazing what contains ASA, cough syrup, Neocitran, some analgesic creams.
SC 8/45 sounds like the tinned spaghetti you eat on Hallowe'en perhaps?
spaghetti-os?
... that's the one ... but use the sugar ending
kinda like spaghettios... but teh frightening shapes of ghosts instead of little round Ohs.
.... and how were you supposed to feel about all the monsters at halloween
I'm stuck on the first al5 !!! any help please
hi flosey!!! stuck there myself :)
ty
... thing at the front of the church
it's in the church
Hello Flosey

and hi there Elegant
ty nan, I have been having a lot of trouble seein words in that bottom left quadrant...
stuck on that sc 8 -- don't see anything resembling a type of pasta, so I guess it was a brand name that was reference
HI Sallycatlover :)
nan... start with frightening end with the sugar suffix?
Hi Kate. Plugging away.
think a cereal that's shaped like an O -- that can help with your sc8
ty for the ca 7 that starts with ca 5/12 hiaving to do with a diamond
one little fishie for me to find yet!!!
ty kate
Any clues for the sc /21?
(or British good byes?)
... the stratch marks on something
... think of what we call the result of a sporting game ... and add a couple of vowels
most of game result + 2 vowels
Sally, start with the points each team has in a game, end with most of an opera song.. nush them together and you will have an SC 6/21
Got it Thank you.
Good grief! Last word... baby oak tree :/
Busy day ahead of you flosey? Are you having lovely weather on your coast?
Thanks for that ca7!
Hi there Kate, yes, weather has been great
It is lovely up here
Pleased to hear that flosey, enjoy!!
*!*~*!* hagd everyone
would be better for me to be out enjoying the super day - really lost in this grid
Ah ruru... are you visiting The Great White North now?
it's so nice (weather wise) that i'm actually doing laundry <-- very necessary
Congratulations nan!!! HAGD :)
The grid will wait, perfect weather must be gobbled up!
I have yard work to do, but am disinclined ot get to it... am annoyed with landlord.
we have company now and more coming - looking forward to meeting another of hubby's cousins and his family, coming this week
I'm off to do housework, HAGD everyone.

Sorry, I've been in and out (because i'm at work) - I have the in7 and the ca7 - what 7 am I missing, please?
9:19 here
2 X CA 7 matty
Aaah - I have the one that's similar to diamond weight - may I have a nudge for the other?
you may have to kinda fight for one of them matty
are you wearing your tiara mool? (LOL)
you'd be a sucker to miss the other
the other is the hawkers on the midway?
left my tiara in the hotel
Got it, thanks Kate and Mool!
traveling folks that run the games of chance and skill...
33 left, but each word is now a real slog
Oh dear.. well, you will have to wear it if you pop back into the chog later today mool ;)
i have IN 8, CO 8, and RA 8 - stats for my missing 8 pls
probably guilt matty.. aren't you supposed to be balancing numbers? ;)
RA 8/40 teach
I've done my number balancing for the moment - just awaiting feedback (and beer - we get free beer at 5.15pm every Thursday - it's now 4.23 pm)
oops
SC 8/45 teach...
LOL, I love the progressiveness of your company, so the countdown to beer time is on!
Are the dorgis bhaving? <snicker>
Yarp - we get sweets at about 2.00pm on Friday and we get to leave at 4.30 on Fridays. We start at 9.30 every day
The dorgis are shocking!
* wants matty's job *
Can I come and work there? :D
Perhaps we could "job share" Judi?
what type of company is it? we will all apply
may I please have a clue for sc8
Marketing, of course :)
Morning all...hope you are having a good day!
sounds like the tinned spaghetti that you might eat at Hallowe'en time flosey
I get 23 days' leave, plus my birthday, plus 3 'Summer Fridays', where we can take a Friday afternoon off in June, July, August or September for free
And we shut down between Christmas and new year without affecting our annual leave
Starts with most of frightening, ends rather sweetly
Clue for that Sc8, please?
haven't found it yet either
10:27/:28 Judi let me know if that doesn't work for you
Got it.
not familiar with that tinned spagetti
HI Betsy, I mean Glitzy ;)
Waving!
Start with blemish left from a wound, then add a vowel, then three more letters that often indicate a sugar
I guess that's the type of sugar you get at halloween
start with the lasting result of a wound +
:)
Hah - we Kates are thinking alike :)
got it - thnx
I hit enter instead of backspacce...
I love that we worded it almost the same
We do have quite a Kate Kontingent here! <3
non-Kate, reporting for chogging!
Hello
16 left. Time for lunch.
Hello Eva, glad you were able to pop0 in again.. how are things going in your busy wrold?
Bye Judi, later! ")
all moved over to the new office...been trudging away at getting work done, which is a little wonky since i havent unpacked my boxes/supplies yet! and headache is dissipating as well. :)
Your cookie recipe looks yummy Eva:)
ITS THE BESTEST
i make several batches every year for christmas, and no matter how many batches i make, it's never enough!
Wooooot for the disappearing headache...and yay to the new digs! Kind of hard to work out of packing boxes though...
Do you know if they freeze well? Seems like they would...
Hello all.
Bet they'd be really good with a little orange or lemon icing drizzled on them too...
Hi m9 :)
A good way to freeze cookies, is to use one of those handle release scoops and freeze them before cooking. Once frozen, put the balls in a bag. Then when you want fresh cookies you just cook a few!
That would work jsut dandy m9... I am thinking that a foll of Eva's cookie dough could be frozen too.. if well wrapped.. hmmm
oohh.. and then just slice?
I hadn't seen that it was a refrigerator cookie recipe!
I'd probably slice them and then refreeze them :-)
i have 3 rolls of the dough in my freezer right now. ;)
Yes, can you click on Eva's icon to see recipe? I love orange and cranberry :)
Yum, I'll have to make them!
i bet a touch of orange icing would be great -- especially since they have a touch of orange zest in them. but truly, theyre plenty sweet enough without it!
EN, your baby has to be older than that now?? Or am I confusing weddings with births?
haha... or big people's cookies usinc Cointreau or Limoncello ;)
i agree that slicing/scooping before freezing would be best, so you can do just a few at a time. though, admittedly, its rare that "just a few" is enough, when it comes to this recipe!

Hello mrp!!! GEtting late for you isn't it? Nicwe to see you :)
Got a new iPad. Old one died!
woo hooo, shiny new toys for mrp! :) How do you like it?
ty kate
yw, got them both?
It’s 3am! Nice n early. Got a migraine so can’t sleep right now... but am recovered some what.
Apple had to replace my iPad as it hiccuped
Oh dear... do you have meds or other magic remedy for your poor head?
I do Kate! Just waiting on the mersyndol to kick it
Freebies are the best, bless warranty
Warranties rule!
Seems to me you are off in (Canberra?) doing something exciting...
Yes, went to the Cartier jewel exhibition... just beautiful!
Sent you a short puppy video to your wall...
Taht was it!!! Need more pics please, if you have them. Je t'adore CArtier!
Canberra is our nations capital, and it is ugly! But has cultural activity I enjoy
I was not impressed that they ran out of catalogs for the exhibition. We were “allowed†to take pictures but the lighting was awful
Can't believe anything in Oz is ugly...even your insects are quite striking ;)
Yes! Strikingly deadly lol!
Oh pooh! Can you write the people who are organising the tour and maybe get on from the next stop on the tour? That is a shame. :(
My boyfriend travels a lot so I get to tag along and see the sights.
Yes.. not crazy about all the flora and fauna you have that kills you dead...
howdy, Kate and mrp - I wrote you a sad story for your post, mrp :D
Ooh, thanks bud! I’m having a pity party for myself today, so thank you girls
Hi rbud.. I wrote a mallbit too, but it was first thing in the morning foer me...not very creative of funny.
I was inspired and nattered on a bit... ;p
Appreciate it all girls
I’m gonna give sleep another go! Love to you all :)) see you in the daylight
nighters, see ya later! :)
Good night mrp, sleep well!
Good night mrp, sleep well!
dang, after listing, I find that a large percentage of the ones I didn't have end with "ria" - not words that pop into one's head, so guess I shan't feel badly, lol
wow, no one in since midnight last night!! guess everyone's finished - 1/2 way here and dragging
oh! silly me, noon today have been busy this morning
company coming for a few days
one daughter also here
I have a problem with which applies to noon and which is for midnight, myself... AM? or PM? Always been that way for me.
son and wife coming today, from Ontario
hope your company brings you some happy times - are they all well-behaved?
Sounds like a full house, flosey! Enjoy your time with them
ah yes, all well behaved! happy happy times
this house cannot ever get too full of family - and friends
Great attitude to have! I love it when my kids are here with their friends, just hanging out.
is it a special occasion, flosey?
no, nothing special - except for the fact that my kids are all very special
that's lovely, even better when it doesn't take something out of the ordinary for them to visit. :)
our retirement home was built to stand any number of kids and friends
not really kids anymore, they're all adults - one grandson now in second year U
My daughter is out of the house starting her second year at college. My 18-year-old is still at home, but gaining more independence every day.
our sons were well established in Ontario by the time we retired out here but both daughters are in Vancouver - so nearby - ferry trip away
53 to go, but I've got to get back to my research paper
flosey have a wonderful time with your family!
Hi everyone! Back from my walk with Snickers and going to dive into the grid. Anyone have any easy fish recipes? Not something I usually make and hubby is tired of anything with chicken, pork, beef, lentils, salads, omelets, hates quinoa, and tuna melts. Although he'd never turn down pasta.
Any kind of whitefish covered in thin lemon slices, salt and pepper and baked. Ihave also used white fish and covered it with a can of diced tomatoes with basil, oregano and garlic and baked.
Now that's easy Bea! Thank you and how long do I bake? Do I cover with tin foil?
Yes, cover with foil. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes and check to see if flaky.
And he should love the tomato variation! Thanks so much. Tonight's dinner challenge solved. LOL I think he is going to be seeing lots of fishies. (evil grin)
From time to time, I ‘come by’ fresh salmon. A good friend is a keen fisherman & when he has had a good day, I sometimes get lucky. Just salmon, a squeeze of lemon juice, cracked black pepper & butter, all wrapped in foil & baked.... Good Lord!! To. Die. For.
Thanks Soodle!! :D
and lucky you! I am guessing there is a distinct difference in taste in fresh fish. I am not understanding the controversy over Atlantic salmon and I guess farm raised is somewhat like cattle not being allowed to roam free.
Well this salmon comes straight from the River Boyne & tastes like nothing on earth. The fact I get it for free helps ;-)
Sounds heavenly. I'd be awful at cleaning/scaling fish. As a picky eater I'm still learning to widen my horizons. Usually I eat fish when dining out. I have tried cooking what I liked, like scallops (somewhat unsuccessful), flounder and scrod (too many bones though) many many moons ago. Time to try it again.
Usual mistake with scallops is over cooking.. a bit of lemon and dill is nice. YOu can but cooking sauces and use then as a bruch on for baking.
*buy, brush... sigh :(
I seemed to have trouble getting rid of the grittiness even though I rinsed them thoroughly.
Hi ya Soodles and mymuse :)
No problem TK, I read typonese just fine ;)
a light parboil should help with any stray grit
clams minced, add bread crumbs, lemon, parmesan, garlic and butter.. mix place back in cleaned half shells and bake..
BuzznBea was here!!!! I must have missed her :(
I'll give scallops another try then. I like them seared in skillet with butter and evoo. shallots to pour over.
Have not tried to make clams. Will definitely get hubby involved with that one as he loves them.
shallots and white wine, s&p and then pour over.
I'm not a seafood lover myself, but I have sseen things done in friends' homes and restaurants I workd in (years ago) the pan scallops sound good!
hello 71 to go
Hi harp!
you might also try corriander in a white wine sauce.. it has a slightly lemony flavour...
Hello hjane :)
looks like I missed a cooking lesson. I have some mahi mahi in the fridge for tonight
What's your favorite way to make that Harp?
I was going to just throw it in the oven. My plan is, mainly, to have leftovers for a cold pasta salad. I have lots of tomatoes so I might add them in the oven as well.
you could always do a light crumb (like Panko) and pan fry :)
true, maybe put a little dill and lemon peel in the panko.
Mmmmm sounds good!
first i have to freeze a boat load of raspberries.
have you been out picking jane? <---loves raspberries :)
yes, it's like the opposite of purgatory. it's hard to stay on top of them, but then, you have raspberries.....
Thanks for the tips Kate! I have not tried mahi mahi. I remember a waiter telling me some years ago that it was dolphin and I refused to try it. What did I know.
got all the 8's
wow harp! That's fantastic! Only have 1 here lol. Been stuck with 34 left. But then again my mind is on food.
this is turning into the kind of day where I'll be lucky if I get my teeth in by my 6:00 ukulele group meeting.....
going to Yewllowstone tomorrow so there's that.'''
LOL, laughing verykindlu at harp... sounds like the lazy kind of dayI'm having :)
at least i turned off the news
the light breading will work with any white-fleshe fish..and jane is tighr, add some herbs and spices into the crumbies :)
I hope there willbe lots of Yellowstone pics!
I think I'll just make a big album about the summer, once the weather changes.
We're also going to see Our Lady of the Rockies, one of my bucket lists. It's an hour away and all I ever do is laugh at Her when I drive by. Time to show some respect. Google it.
tag the different locations if you are up to it jane.. some of us have never been out that way..after old faithful, I wouldn't know much about all the different places you have gone :)
going now :)
later Kate! Yellowstone adventures ... can't wait to see your pics Harp :).
Bye mymuse! :)
That is really, really big jane..have never even heard of it before - and it's been around since '85!
I got to see the very end of the world's largest geyser--Steamboat-- about a month ago. It is completely unpredictable, so it's just luck of the draw if you see it. Amazing.
She's the same size as the Statue of Liberty.
Wow, never knew/heard about this as I'm reading great story about Our Lady of the Rockies. This is why I love looking at people's trips.
Was Steamboat also in Yellowstone?
She was sitting in a gas station in Butte for years while they raised money to finish the project. (Lots to make fun of!)
Yes, Steamboat is in Yellowstone. Our Lady is near Butte.
I'm taking music lessons near Yellostone this year so I'm going over there every other week or so.
LOL Kate I thought YOU were leaving. I misready the typonese.
Well, hiring a NG helicopter to transport and reasse3mble the 4 pieces must have taken quite a while to get all that cash...
:) was jsut dashing off to Bing OUr Lady... had no clue at all!
Did you want hints for the 8s mumuse?
The helicopter pilot got court marshalled because he did something unsafe. (There is an element of stupidity in every act of courage.)
Oh no.... I hope the guy that oversaw the court martial was an RC...
I don't remember how it turned out
found some vermin
did you find your dolphin yet?
I did :)
You can't joke about catholics in Butte. Even if you are one. There are more Irish Catholics in Butte than there are in Ireland. Really.
yep i have 3 swimming mammal words
ri5? the one that's not a plural?
Not a lot of critters in here today... I see 6 for sure..
cowboy lasso?
thanks Kate :)
I thought I tried that, like 100 times
de nada :)
R's are roped in, time to go put my teeth in lol
:D NIce work, energetic jane!
are those 8s normal Kate?
The CA is normal
I have the sc8
the IN has been seen before, but it may be mor familiar starting with a UN instead...
The RA is normal
You have the "weirdest" one... half the battle :)
(IN is a 7/8 combo)
annoyed that maltose is not accepted.
as you can see my mind sees words that are phantoms LOL
ratio, carrion, etc. Brain must need a time out.
maybe that's what's needed? Take a little break, make a cup of tea.. ponder dinner :)
I saw lots of phantoms too :)
I'm going to step out and pick up my fish for dinner. Catch you later Kate and thanks for hints re 8s.
You're welcome, hope your dinner turns out just how you imagine it! See you later, glad you popped in :)
caught the RA -- ciao!

listing for my last 29
Hi Kate, melon, and ori. :)
hi, mymuseisme
Kate I posted a pic of tonight's dinner on FB. Opted to do salmon.
I'm going to head back out into the good weather in a few min. I decided I ought to read a Philip Roth novel. I've only read the short stories, and the novella, The Breast, and those were long ago, maybe in my 20s. I got Everyman out of the library.
hi, TK!
Melon it's really been a long time since I've seen you in the grid too. Feels like old times for sure. Enjoy.
lol I guess I should say "chatterbox" but that always reminds me of my Mom, who called my nephew that.
Thank you. I have returned. I come in at the flip, altho that is way past my bedtime.
I met a Babbler IRL this summer!
That is so awesome! I have yet to meet any :(
Hi melon :)
I only had to cross the Atlantic!
I did see your dinner supreme post mymuse! Nice job!
The only Roth novel I remember reading was Portnoy's Complaint, which caused a stir then.
My son and I had a fantastic trip. We had a wedding in Israel, the stared in Paris before returning home. He is a young man with challenges, and this trip was a triumph we could not have imagined a few years ago.
I will probably read Protnoy's Complaint. I remember readin about it when I was rather too young to read it.
Hi, all! Melon, that sounds like a great trip!
nbt, nbs
Melon that is wonderful for you and your son. Great memories.
It was a great trip. I'm still getting used to doing "things" again, like vacuuming and paying bills.
My babble icon is a picture of me smooching our waiter in Paris. Makin' memories. . . (:
Now I really will go out and read on a blanket in my front yard. Nice catching up!
besos to all!
HI Pam!
can I get a clue for the sc8?
sc + Onassis first name shortened and sugar ending
ty mymuse!
Cannot believe your daughter is so big now! I remember when you were telling us your love story and your hopes and dreams when she was born.
Goodness the years have flown by with all of us making happy memories.
thanks Kate! Figured out your in7/8 clue from earlier :)
Hi everyone
Hi Jen
Lurkers, come out!
I have a question!
Hi Jen
What might that be?
Hi origami, is there anyway to play babble games that have already been on? Like playing yesterday's 400 game?
brb ... Snickers has a need.
I don't think so - there is an archives list, but it just shows the grid. No way to type in words that I have seen.
I see what you mean.
firewords! thanks mymuse and lickety and all cluers
yw Dan, congrats!
Ori that painting is beautiful!
Thank you muse!
