*brings out the duct tape too*
I will hold her, Liz, you apply the duct tape
*licks sprite's palm* yum... salt...
OK but you can peel it off. Not into inflicting pain.
just one firm, short pull should do it
The letters in this grid are all in the wrong places.
ain't that the truth
Has anyone heard from lickety today
*rubbing palm against itchy feeling from rose's tongue* Still, worth it... amazing what a bit of duct tape will do
*ouch* that's worse than waxing... it's taken me years to grow that moustahe.
*moustache*
but you look so pretty without it! Totally brings out the shape of your mouth!
lolllll... it might prickle Don... wait a moment.. he HAS a moustache
as long as he doesn't spoil drWho, he gets to keep it

lolll... tomorrow is the Melbourne Cup.... the horse race which stops the world...
I know about that... from the books by Dick Francis.
No interest in any kind of racing - Melbourne cup, ascot, derby included.
meanwhile.. back at the ranch... we are going to a plant nursery. i want to start a hedge across the front of our property with daisies, all different colours.
me neither, but reading about it in Francis's books is quite another thing. Very interesting.
oh how lovely, rose. Sounds brilliant
Sounds lovely. We’ve been harvesting blueberries, courgettes, cucumbers and herbs we’ve grown. Other salad stuff too. So yummy growing our own stuff.
and i have persuaded Don that the front lawn needs to be planted with roses and crepe myrtles of as many different colours as we can find.
sweet
anything to reduce the amount of grass which needs to be mown.
lizgirl.. you will never know just how much i envy you both for being able to grow so many veggies.
We’re still experimenting. Seeing what will cope in the heat here.

No Lickety today?
>HelloBichon
I put dmf's list in my profile if anyone wants to use it.
l've never used the list which is why lnever finish
I usually don't finish without looking at the list. Too many oddball words are accepted in this game.
The timesl've finished (maybe 4 or 5) in 9 years was with Molly carryingmeover the finish line
l find what l can, trying to get NBT and NBS and half
no point in asking forclues although if they magically appear, l useed them
Oops, I need to go to the PB for an earlier comment.
Comeover here instead; l'llmke you French toast
Ooo, I will make you French toast. I make this great French toast, stuffed with cream cheese, brown sugar and bacon.
Mine is simpler, maple syrup andlots of butter
but with white susage on the side

Morning all - Lickety's clues seem to be yesterdays. Is there a list??
Morning everyone! :)
The list is on Moll's profile, Alle! :)
Thanks!

Gads, the only thing worse than weather like today's is having to go to the dentist in it.
I like my dentist and hygienist and it is close by
I'll do my best to send some of our sun your way!

anybody else see two different puzzles between babble and lickety?
Lickety is not updated. Still on yesterday's grid.
Thanks. It does say Mon November 5th. Weird.
Lickety lives in Australia. Most of the time, they are a day ahead of us.
looked at the list and there is an ep8 but I am not seeing it.
Ends in consumed food
ok, looking
Good morning, all. Monday, Mehday.
I got it. ty Molly
hi Judy
Heya Jud! :)
Anyone with the sense God gave them called in sick today.
could anyone please clue the co8 plz?
to make together
Could you give the 3rd letter plz? Then I may get it.
the word starts off the left c
Got it!
yay
lol, Molls. Jet lagged from the time change.
I thought that only happened when we lose an hour
didn't we just lose an hour?
No, when you turn the clocks back you gain an hour. 2 AM suddenly becomes 1 AM. Magic.
You lose an hour if you turn them ahead. I know, its counter intuitive.
screw the farmers I say.. abolish DST
We "fall" back in the Fall. We "spring ahead" in Spring.
And, if you are in Arizona, you just don't give a damn.,
The daylight naturally adjusts on its own. I don't know why we mess with it.
I just wish it would stop raining. Although, the weekend was pretty nice. We had a nice littler road trip, a little antiquing in Maryland.
little, rather
Ooo, did you buy anything?
I bought a Pyrex butter dish and a tanned deer hide.
The cats were wigged out by the deer hide.
they probably thought they were next :D
I was looking for a trencher / dough bowl. Saw a few, but they were either re-pops, too small, too damaged and/or over priced.
butter dish and deer hide are two objects I never expected to see in the same sentence.
It's a rather small hide (no head attached, thankfully). And there is a bullet hole in the rear flank. Someone was a very bad shot.
judi wants to make a loin cloth for her husband
Ah Pyrex. I remember a Pyrex Percolator living in our kitchen for a long time.
The hide does still have the tail attached. The dog gave it an experimental/playful nip (just a taste test).
that's more than a little creepy judi .. jmo
There is a store in Havre de Grace, MD called JoeRetro. It's about 805% Pyrex. Other cool stuff too.
hello...help with the co4/5 after the co7?
nm...greyed the C's...must be an extra word
Do you ever go to the cake place in Havre de Grace?
Cake place??? Why, no. But we did find an awesome wine bar.
(has her priorities straight there)
yods
ooops
anyone need that one?
Probably best that we did not discover the cake place.
My hips already resemble cinnamon buns.
(giggles)
ooh found an 8 finally
I see that Lickety is of no help today. Right date, wrong grid.
Lickety is always a day ahead of us. Other side of the planet and all that.
lickety is ahead of all of us in general
Clue for your 8, ru?
a super hot day sc 8
hi une
TX!?
TX!!
i am looking for ocunry craft dinerware by plaltzgraf. i've never ofund any in all y market/thrift shop. garage and estate sale dayes.
country craft.
just overprice3d replacements ltd.
have you looked on replacements
nm lol
hi all (what's it look like, owl? i have an old set of pfaltzgraf)
like speckled cream colored thrown pottery - rings like fiestaware
and how are you today?
how about ebay? my bf found his on ebay for lots less $$
nope, that's not what i have (which is a shame, since i want to get rid of it - and the hand painted italian glazed dinnerware)
there is some but the cost to ship is high, negating savings. and no warranty
Looks like it's a discontinued pattern. Try Craigslist or shopgoodwill.com.
most people think of the yorktown pattern
it waS sold in gimbels here. you would think there would be more around. i have to put up an ad i craiglist
if i love my dinnerware, why buy new? i will probably pay the exorbitant cost at replacements.
I remember Pfaltzcraft as being pretty hefty stuff. My sister had some. Never really appealed to me. I'm a Fiesta girl myself.
or scale back to a service for four
i love the potter look and the coupe shaped large plate, says the original"don't let the food touch on the plate" girl
I have some art deco plates I love to use
failing that, it's a three part toddler warming plate . ;)
I found some really nice malamine plates I like. Found them cheapo at Marshall's. Trying to buy more, but it's scarce and ridiculously expensive.
if recent, post a photo and i will be your picker>
Gimbels!! In 1967 ...my first time in NYC.....I roamed around the store, then was ready to leave and couldn't find the exit....a bunch of construction in the store......soooo I asked a salesperson where the exit was......her response: you found your way in, you can find your way out......
I nearly cried!
well THERE'S customer service for you!
Dang. Hostage shopping.
no need fo that tactic with me. i can spend an hour in tj maxx.
Judi LOL!
i have so much old stuff that i need to purge from the house - dozens of pieces of hammered aluminum, for instance
i have a sugar and creamer. they are not worth anything in these parts. i am also cleaning things out.
i have no idea what hammered aluminum is
no, as you try to downsize, you'll find that the things you found near and dear are pretty much worthless
ok i think it's time to venture out into the dreary cold rainy day.
I'll bet hammered aluminum could be taken to the scrap yard in exchange for cash.
not a bad idea - salvage the crap out of it
i did leaves yeesterday to avoid having to do them all in a hurry before the lawn folks come to lime.
good thought. aluminum brings a good rate
or, donate it all
I'm full of good advice. Ask me anything (after I've had my coffee).
yes. though donations are not worth anything with new tax law
i have an ethan allen dining room set (was my grandmother's) - solid maple with hand blown glass doors on the hutch - none of the kids want it - 2 mission oak rockers (one stickley, one limbert) - ditto
at least, for me. unless i buy a new house.
<---not fond of ethan allen look
If you really want to get rid of things, put them out at the curb and post a curb alert on Craigslist.
neither am i, ru - but when granny died, it became mine
i hear this a lot, welk. kids would rather have ikea. but later, i wonder if they will regret.
Ikea is crap.
and i admit it looks nice in the dining room, along with her ancient secretary (filled with books (also worthless) from the 1800s)
my friends put all their sutff out on craigs list, moved into an apartment and do the snowbird thing. i've considered that.
yes but stylish crap. :0
I'm not an Ikea fan either
oh judi! when i lived back east, folks in the rich part of brooklyn (on ocean avenue) would put their stuff out on wednesdays! bonanza
there is a colony of jersey expats near naples in fla
ocean parkway, not avenue
yes, you can furnish a whole apartment with those discards. stylishly.
so, what i'll do is sell what i can, bring a bunch of stuff to the goodwill and call the local dream centre to pick up the rest
is moving in the cards?
sounds like a solid plan, welki. I have sooo much stuff to purge it's not even funny
probably within the next couple of years - empty this place out, update a little, move to the lake and sell
I have NO problem buying or using used furniture. Consignment shops are another option - when buying or trying to sell.
I have no kids to give anything to. My nephews might want some of it when we move to AZ some day .
happy babbling, all, i am heading out.
bye, owl
I struggle with some guilt feelings when donating things that were family items, but I am getting better at it thank GOODNESS for the new local thrift stores, they assauge a lot of that guilt - if I feel someone else will use it, and it is not adding to landfills, I am much happier
when i first moved here, i had nothing. i got a lot of my stuff from a really nice thrift store - they'll be getting most of my stuff, i think. but i, too, have a problem parting with sentimental items
on the other hand, won't i love it when the house has that 'minimalist' look to it :D
We have some AWESOME consignment shops near us. A good place to donate furniture or other household items is Habitat for Humanity ReStore (if there is one near you).
ohhh, that's a great idea, too! thanks, judi
And - I believe they will come and pick it up! That solves a lot of schlepping on your part.
On that note , I'm off to take a little break. BBL.
yep - bedroom sets, living room furniture, desks - that'd help my old back
later and thanks again
me too - 46 left and no list. bbl.

hi again -- just received a little story on voting (we have an important referendum coming up) -- you may have seen it before but if not, there is a moral to the story. :D
*posted in my profile
I voted early. tomorrow it will be over.
I'm not comfortable voting early. There's something special about going on Tuesday and getting the little sticker.
I got the sticker. I'll wear it tomorrow.
oh! if I'd known you could get a sticker early, I might have gone :)
i've always been given a sticker when i've voted early, which i did not this year.

LOL Soodle :)
Hello Soodle
Loved Nans story. I am working at the voting precinct tomorrow from 5:30 am to 8:30 pm. Please vote. This Is an extremely important election!!!
Good for you NANCY. This will be the 2nd election in a row now for which I will not be an election judge in over 30 years. Last time, I thought, great, finally a chance to actually watch the returns! Got really comfy, ready for a nice evening, a Hilary win & instead, I ended up watching a horror movie. I hope tomorrow goes much better. If not, I'm signing up to be a judge again. Long day though!
this grid needs an n
nope is not in the grid!
see?
I don't know which is more annoying - this grid, or today's 'easy' Sudoku, sigh.

NANCY - hat's off to you. I don't know where you're at, but here, in Chicago, every single election, they change something up & then there's a class (good $ for the class, helps make up for the 50 cents/hour day), but still . . . it's always new stuff, new procedures. We had a consistent crew of 3, we got along great, shored up each other's strengths & weaknesses - like clockwork. That's so great when you work well together with your fellow judges. I hope you have a smooth day.
hot. Thanks, Lil
Ummm, Also NANCY - Go to bed!!! Get your rest. You have to be up soon :)

Be safe, Unea. We are supposed to have it tomorrow. I usually love the fall but now, oh well. Thanks for the heads up.

I just sent a prayer up for you and your family...including pets.
we had tornados here last night.

Do you have any damage from last night, dc? I had damage from hurricane michael ...tore the top off my chimney....and rain poured in.
not near me. they all popped up East and North of DC. I live W of DC. Minimal damage, no injuries, only F1s.
I'm glad you weren't hit directly.
in the early 90s, one hit one block East of where i lived in Fairfax, VA. the road signs, and the Welcome to Fairfax sign were all damaged.
actually got to help hold the cellar door shut during one visiting family on a farm in Ohio when i was 11 or 12.
They are not something to be taken lightly. I imagine the family was glad that you were there to help.
6 in that family, me, my sister, 6 farm hands, after we secured the cows.
We used to have basements when I was young and lived in KY. Can't remember having really BAD stuff like we have now.
yeah, it's gotten a lot worse here since 2001, including 60% more precipitation, and 50% more wind. Plus we now get derechos -- straight line winds. In some ways, sounds worse than a hurricane.
I need to find food.....back later. Blessings all.
