What! No Merkin? How can we omit the victorian pubic wig?!
OH Hahahaha! That is funny!
It must be a brand name maybe.
I dont think they had anywhere to register a brand name back then. I had a friend with a miniature wire haired dachshund called Merkin. Made me laugh everytime I saw him.
I wonder how they get the pubic hair? Do they advertise for it? Ha this is making me smile. Thank you, Granadan!
Im not sure whsat they were made of. Victorian prostitutes used to shave off their pubichair, then glue on merkins. I have NO idea why!
gull
sorry
So I had to look it up. T'interweb tells me that "A pubic hair piece. A toupee for the pubic area/genitals. In the 1700’s when mercury was used to treat sexually transmitted diseases (Gonorrhea or Syphilis) one of the side effects was the loss of pubic hair. To disguise this condition, that was not cured by mercury, a Merkin was employed"
wow who knew! I too was looking it up. It seems to be big buisness still for certain types of a doll shall we say that require a real look..ha! Also used in films too!.
I take it ' Oversaid ' is not worthy of enable.
oops sorry it is very close to another word that is accepted.
Time for me to go and do other things for a while. Really nice to talk to you, Granadan! (if you are still here) Happy babbling everyone!

good day
Greetings! I love days when the words jump out so eagerly for me! It almost makes up for the entire mug of lava hot coffee my son poured on the floor. Thankfully he wasn’t burned, but ooooooooh was I mad. If my floor had been a little cleaner, I may have grabbed a straw to suck it up. Sadly, that kind of clean comes along very seldomly.
Wow, the grid even includes the type of language I used. Oh, Babble, always there for me.

Hello, Jen :-) How are you keeping?
I am keeping well, went out to get prepared for this snowstorm that is supposed to be coming.
Oh yuck. Let us hope it is not too much snow being dumped. Stay nice and warm. Seems like Winter has come early for a lot of people in parts of the USA.
It is pouring rain/a monsoon here. Nice day for it though. Fire in the fireplace and spaghetti sauce simmering.
Hello, Molly :-) Nice! Love pasta. Hope you have garlic bread with it too!

Mulled wine is traditional, though it needs some preparation.

Peri, if you are going hot, Irish Coffee. If you are going cold, any clear liquor (gin/vodka) and sparkling cranberry.
I like the sparkling cranberry juice idea ty Molly
It's great with vodka :)
