it sometimes will pull up your previous view of the page especially if you have "save data" or "load faster" settings on (like chrome does by default) even if you refresh normally, ctrl+F5 or shift+F5 forces the page to load fully

1:34 am

mk thanks :)

1:35 am

my good deed for today did not go unpunished. i noticed that one of my sister's gerbils had blood on one leg. so we decided to get her out and try to gently clean the wound with a wet cotton ball and a little dish soap. i held her while my sister cleaned, and the poor little freaked-out scamp bit me.

1:35 am

aw poor hursh

1:35 am

gerbil is a phantom today

1:36 am

indeed

1:36 am

but the one that bit me was no phantom, lol

1:36 am

lol Hurshy...

1:36 am

hiya Flask!

1:36 am

definitely not, lol. Sharp teeth on them too.

1:37 am

Hiya Sprite

1:37 am

i just hope that the wound won't get infected

1:37 am

you'll be fine!

1:38 am

we read that rodents have fatal reactions to certain antibiotics, though others help, and we couldn't find the name of the one my sister had for her dogs in any of the lists of either safe OR fatal, so we decided not to try to use it

1:38 am

*healing desinfectant vibes to hurshy's finger*

1:38 am

hey ya flask. long time no see honey

1:38 am

no i mean the GERBIL'S wound, i'm worried about her

1:38 am

if mine gets infected, i'll get treated and i will not die

1:39 am

let it lick the wound as much as it wants

1:39 am

Hey Granny...nice to see you, how are?

1:39 am

well of course, sprite. we can't really stop her from that anyway.

1:39 am

long time no see indeed, Flask. How are you doing?

1:39 am

have done better flask, but not gonna die just yet... loll

1:40 am

hey i just had that thing where you type in something and don't expect it to work and yet it does

1:40 am

Well Granny am pleased for you, how was your christmas?

1:41 am

btw, sprite, flask, it is looking more promising for May 2019. i, and DH, will most certainly be over for 4 weeks then.

1:41 am

we once did all we could to prevent Terra from licking a wound at his foot, then the vet told us we should have let him, it is their way to clean the wound and usually works better than the things we can think up.

1:41 am

awesome, rose!

1:41 am

would humans licking our own wounds help clean them?

1:42 am

christmas was frenetic to say the least, flask. hence today being a recovery day..

1:42 am

Hurshy, tell us what the word was then we can all try it and see if it works us?

1:42 am

probably not, hursh, with all the bad stuff we eat like sugars and all

1:42 am

hurshy, have you never sucked a jammed finger, or a paper cut?

1:42 am

well flask, it is an en6. you take a normal en6 word meaning to last well over time, and then you change the last letter

1:43 am

yes, granny, i have sucked, but not licked.

1:43 am

this convo is going downhill fast, LOLOLOL

1:44 am

*giggle* hurshy....

1:44 am

this one, i tried to push out blood for a while, washed, and put on antibiotic ointment and a bandaid

1:44 am

sounds good to me

1:44 am

Wow! it worked for me too.....do you have anymore like that???...lolol

1:44 am

what i gathered from the internet seems to indicate that it is not nearly so worrisome as a cat bite

1:46 am

well, i have made one trip through the grid. i have half the 7s but no 8s or 9s, with 27 words left altogether

1:46 am

Hi all

1:46 am

not too bad

1:46 am

*hugs Liz* Hello dear one! Great to see you, how are you doing?

1:46 am

it was the same for me hurshy. those biggies totally eluded me too.

1:46 am

Yes, I think the big ones are hard today!

1:47 am

HEY LIZGIRL !!!!

1:47 am

may i have some clues then? :)

1:47 am

Hugs, friends

1:48 am

All’s good here - as usual. Hope you’re all well and are enjoying the holiday season.

1:48 am

Hurshy is it me you'reasking?

1:48 am

only have 7x2, nothing bigger yet, sorry hursh

1:48 am

en8/9. en + most of extinct bird + epid***, top layer of skin

1:48 am

no flask, i'm just asking anyone who might be able to assist, such as granny, who spoke in the past tense :)

1:49 am

ahhh thanks granny :)

1:49 am

thanks for the skinny ones

1:49 am

Thanks, Rose.

1:50 am

i always enter the forest moon of Endor, even though it's both fictional and proper

1:50 am

ge9. ge + most of sign of future + first part of neptunes fork.

1:50 am

I have that same thing with Oreo. Cannot stop myself.

1:51 am

ooh what a fancy one!

1:51 am

sign of future?

1:51 am

sign of future = om4

1:51 am

ohhhhh right, thanks

1:51 am

Thanks again.

1:52 am

thanks

1:52 am

me9. me + first part of dessert made with sponge, jelly and fruit + last part of no longer living

1:54 am

Thanks again, again 😊

1:54 am

I’d never have found those without clues.

1:54 am

no longer living = dead... ead = not in the grid... = confused hurshy

1:54 am

past tense, hursh

1:54 am

The act of becoming that way, hurshy

1:54 am

now i will stop, before sprite reaches out through the screen and puts a trangle hold around my throat... loll

1:55 am

don't stop, lol, am loving the clues.

1:55 am

*giggle* strangle*

1:55 am

but if i use the past, then i can't get it to be 9 or if i do it is ... maybe i have the wrong dessert

1:56 am

i thought dessert = to5

1:56 am

dessert rhymes with stifle

1:56 am

what the first part of the fork called?

1:56 am

hursh, try this: Absolutely frozen to stone from fear, change first letter into M

1:56 am

Rhymes with being really scared pe 9 (notion grid)

1:56 am

much better clue sprite

1:57 am

ahhh

1:57 am

Easier the way Sprite wrote it.

1:57 am

both ways work if you have the right dessert lol

1:57 am

*takes bow* Thank you, thank you, couldn't have done it without you all though

1:57 am

i guess if i think i know that a to5 is not made with sponge

1:58 am

am still stuck on the GE clue

1:58 am

(insert comma after "think" in that sentence)

1:58 am

if there is ever a WRONG dessert, please don't tell me... loll

1:58 am

flask it is mostly a math subject

1:58 am

Flak - more often ends with c

1:58 am

but then you make the ending like if you want to pay with a personal check you may have to show two forms of...

1:58 am

I know...just can't get the ending

1:59 am

it ends in inversed soil, filthiness

1:59 am

i put about the ending but idk if the thing about checks is only a US thing

1:59 am

Excuse typos today.

1:59 am

THANKS....got it!

2:00 am

yay! :)

2:00 am

mk so that wraps the 9s, how about another 8 or two? :)

2:00 am

i am just sitting down after unpacking from chrustmas visit.

3:18 pm

Unpacking is not my favorite thing.

that's why i did not let it slide. empty food containers and presents must still be dealt with.

3:20 pm

You're doing the right thing.

feels good to be home, though home is in chaos ;0

3:20 pm

:) Totally get it!

i received lemon white balsamic vinegar and oiive oil as one gift. my niece made dressing with them that we served. i cannot wait to make some.

3:23 pm

That sounds wonderful!

my sil has become wary of the ingriedients in commercial dressings, so has begun to make her own. we had lemon and fig

it was very good. dressings are easy to make but i never do unless it's for a recipe.

3:26 pm

It takes a bit more time, but home made are always better to me.

that's so true! even a simple balsamic vinegrette.

Holy Moly. I don't think I have spent more than 2 waking hours away from the cooker in the past 4 days. Full Irish breakfasts every day - soup & sandwiches 3 hours later - then a full meat, potatoes & 2 veg dinner 3 hours after that. I'm exhausted.

3:57 pm

What the heck are you doing, Soodle? Don't your people have hands? :)

3:58 pm

Sounds like you need to rechristen the "holidays" to the "hellidays"! Make them help more?!?!

4:01 pm

I launched a protest this evening. Apparently - breakfast will be delivered to the Soodle-Bed in the morning...

4:01 pm

Well done!

4:02 pm

Lol, we'll wait & see what gets offered, Champ!!

4:03 pm

As long as there's a warm beverage and a little something-something...

4:04 pm

Apart from being chained to the cooker, Christmas Chez Soodle was lovely. I hope yours (all reading this) was as peaceful & pleasant.

4:04 pm

I have learned never to critique those offerings however terrible... I smile and swallow and figure it beats getting up and making b-fast myself!!

4:05 pm

Plus, I'm still (vainly) trying to create a habit of thinking of others...

4:05 pm

The only time I complained was when they put salt in my coffee thinking it was sugar. :'_

4:05 pm

Natasha - my mantra in these times is 'What's seldom is wonderful'

4:06 pm

INDEED!!

4:06 pm

But it could be less "seldom" and then they'd be better at doing it!

4:06 pm

It's all been good here. Still like everyone. The college kids are less messy this time, and married son/daughter in law were present and helpful when requested.

4:07 pm

I trained my DH to do the laundry. It did involve "sacrificing" several beloved pieces of clothing to his "mistakes" with the bleach. But I bit my tongue till it bled and now he does the laundry without being asked.

4:08 pm

Always good when you still like everyone after the holidays, Champ. I'd call that a result!!

4:08 pm

If you still like everyone on the 27th... wowee kazowee!

4:08 pm

The laundry is always a pain in the butt. May be "done", but still in dryer. May be done and out of dryer, but on kitchen table. And yes soodle...agreed!

4:08 pm

It does help that they're working and earning money on their break. We all get some apart time.

4:08 pm

I'm happy to fold so long as I don't have to cart it up and down the stairs!

4:09 pm

Law and Order reruns are excellent for folding to

4:09 pm

I can watch that all night long!

4:09 pm

Me too, sadly.

4:10 pm

Natasha - sometimes it takes a mangled tongue to keep a marriage intact! Well done you!!!!

Guys - if any of you subscribe to Amazon Prime .... Believe me.... Outlander is one of the best series I have ever watched.

4:12 pm

okey dokey.

4:13 pm

I loved the books, just haven't gotten caught up in the series yet. The girls got me into The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and am loving that. Only 2 seasons though.

4:13 pm

Bye Natasha ((()))

4:16 pm

Sheesh.... Mrs Maisel did nothing for me!! But... Outlander... great story, really well told & & more eye candy than you could shake a stick at!!!!

4:17 pm

Well of course! If you haven't read the books...highly recommend.

4:17 pm

I love the clothing and styles of Mrs. Maisel. Very nostalgic.

4:35 pm

Well finally FW! Clues?

Outlander is outstanding. I toured Scotland in the 1980's;the Isle of Skye was wonderful...sheep everywhere!

Hi I'm sorry, I hadn't introduced myself. I'm Jacqui from

Irvine, Ca, originally from NYC.

One of the babble words is bairn. Means baby.

5:10 pm

hi egbok, welcome to Babble. Just to let you know, we try not to put "answer" words in the chat. Only clues, and only when asked for. Sometimes people make typos and put words in by mistake & that's okay. hope that's alright with you. You can put all your personal info in your lovely profile, including pix and your music, too! Enjoy.'

5:12 pm

but bairn is not one of the words today...

Mrs. Maisel is a hoot, I love it! I binge watched the first two s cenes. Tony Shaloub is terriffic.

Hi Harry - what did you think of the ending?

I'm sorry, I was just mentioning a Scotish word.

5:18 pm

well obviously I'd heard of the ending years ago...but it was still discomfiting

I think do6/7 is a Brit term for what we here in these united states call bumper cars. I've never heard those words used for them either.

6:48 pm

well I am from Michigan originally and that is what we called them all the time.

6:50 pm

it is a shortened term for the word them at the end

6:50 pm

meaning avoid them

7:01 pm

Ah, I see. Maybe it's a regional thing here in the land of the free and the home of the brave, then.

8:56 pm

i dont do the birthdays.

8:58 pm

we give 1K check when they are born. then every year, each child and spouse (6 kids, 6 spouses) and every grand child get $36 dollars for hanukah gelt. 36 is the number of candles lit for chanukah: 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8. it is also double chai in hebrew meaning double life which is a great thing to wish someone. so for all the grands and kids and spouses we give over 1200 dollars for chanukah........it adds up.

8:59 pm

otherwise, when i visit, i bring my bubby bag full of freebees for kids to take if they wish, and i sometimes take kids to the dollar store to get treats.

9:00 pm

that is all i do unless there is financial need and then of course it is the parents we would give money to.......so far luckily most of them are fine. but two are struggling and we help.

9:02 pm

we hope that those 2 will soon be on their feet and doing well.........they are holding jobs and managing and we love them a lot. and what is money for if not to help. my husband came from a family where his father hoarded money and claimed poverty his entire life. when he died all were shocked at how rich he was and the IRS took it all as he did nothing to protect it......it was horrible. so we would rather give to kids now if we can. just now we must take from our retirement accounts and so if we have extra we will be traveling and then fixing our house as it badly needs. and after that if any is left, we will give gifts evenly.

9:03 pm

you have a well-thought-out plan - that's awesome!

9:04 pm
