he 8 if not called yet
almost summer temps here in NC
where, hokie? were you here for the impromptu blizzard?
fe 5/16, first one, pls
clue please dofith.
we were in Canmore. did not see a blizzard but it was supposed to snow the day we left I think.
bichon there was a super clue below: ***** of strength.
it did snow on us some one day when we were driving through some provincial parks.
canmore's a nice town - i spend most of my time in calgary.
the pic in my icon is of the three sisters in canmore :)
(taken in canmore)
we flew in/out of Calgary. Canmore is really nice.
were you here for business or pleasure?
yes, that looks familiar!
pleasure, we went for "spring" break
it's a nice time of year to visit, before the heavy tourist season. did you get to ski?
need the first fffe 5/16
iffy, weatherwise (that storm we had was last saturday/sunday), but you seemed to skirt around the nasty stuff
my family skied but I gave that up in the last few years.Johnston Canyon & Lake Louise were crowded - I said I can't imagine them in the summer! But most things were not crowded at all. When we decided to go there, we didn't realize it was still basically winter, but my family likes to ski so they were into it.
I was sad I didn't get to see the beautiful turquoise lakes.
I was there many years ago. Heaven on earth
It is beautiful but I have a (some might say irrational) fear of bears. And mountain lions.
ooh, gotta go to an appt. bbl!
the mountain lakes are spectacular, hokie. one of my daughters, grand-daughters and i explored some to the west last summer
enjoy the day, glad you enjoyed your holiday here
(and a healthy fear/respect for predator wildlife isn't a bad thing)
fe 5/16, first one, pls
time for a break - later, all
fe 5/16 an accomplishment, plural
doh, ty Luv

hi folks
hi welki -- still shovelling?
nope - was a wicked storm over the weekend, but the sidewalks are, for the most part, clear. still some ice on the shaded areas
yes -- we were in Calgary for the storm - celebrating our son's 50th at Joycde on 4th
ohh, that's a really nice pub
drove home on Sunday -- not a bad trip other than that first hill coming out of the city where all the semi's, cars and buses were in the ditch
we drove from red deer to calgary on sunday and it was the same - vehicles all over the place
once we got to banff the roads were bare and had sunshine from the summit on
nice drive, then
yes we sat at a table next to a couple who had driven from Red
yes
it can go either way this time of year, but driving south is always better than north :D
couple had driven from Red Deer early in the morning when we stopped for lunch in Revelstoke
yowsa - the roads were not for the faint of heart sunday morning
we were worried for our kids because they were driving home to Lethbridge and blizzard conditions were forcast for Sunday, but they said the weather was good and roads bare.
typical springtime in alberta - every town has its own weather pattern
That's what we always say about Connecticut
were you in Canmore? -- see you have the sisters posted
i go to the mountains often
do you have a chalet there?
i wish - maybe if i win the foothills lottery :) we have a small place near red deer, our golf and fishing cottage. will hopefully retire there someday (husband still working)
lol

You're welcome.
good afternoon, friends
Hey, trif.
haes
oops sorry
has this week flown by for anyone else?
Yes, it has. Ive been really busy.
I'm going to have to play in the afternoon more. It's nice and quiet in here now.
i sound like an old biddy, but I get twigged when people ask for clues for every. single. word. I prefer to try to find as many words as possible on my own, and will ask for a count, maybe, when I am really stuck. All that begging clogs the chogs something awful
problem is, I always end up peeking to see if people are chatting, and get clues when I don't want them
Amen, Amen, Amen, Trif.
Yes, me too! And it irks me when people open up the game immediately and want stats and clues for the big words.
people have different playing styles. One style is not "better" than any other
I can't figure out what is the challenge of playing the game when you ask for clues for over half of the words.
I usually only ask if I can't find it in bestwordslist.
I agree molly, but that is just me
when I first babbled, I HAD To finish every day. Now I am happy to hit halfway and nbt
And like Carla, there are so many other ways to find words rather than asking for clues.
I would think if your "style of playing" is to rely heavily on clues, it would be a good idea to look over the entire chat log before asking for clues.
I open the game, start finding words, if I see any clues in the chat I'll do those. once I bog down and can't get anymore, I go to the list, then I go through the whole list. Then I get some help from best words, then I will ask.
Please dont misunderstand me - everyone is free to play the way they want, I am not judging anyone. I prefer to not have so many clues, that's all
And like this morning, when people didn't know what an definite article is...
I don't get the asking for the same clue over and over. Just scroll down and look.
I have to admit, I saw someone SHRED a babbler who provided a clue when asked for. I thought that was pretty rude.
Well, the thing is, if you don't know what something is, or what something means, you are already on the computer and a Google search takes seconds.
the poor babbler was only trying to help. offered a clue, the person didn't understand it, and tore the cluer a new one fr "not giving clues anyone could understand" - how rude!
That's why i clue it with the time stamp in the chat.
Molly, we finally finished planting tomatoes...I think/hope. =)
so I guess di8 is an 8 letter word starting with di is not a "helpful" clue? :)
Not really, Knight
Bea, good for you. I hope all the people who benefit from your generosity are grateful.
Now you understand why I never clue and am also not a standup comedian
It used to be an "understanding" that you only used the first two letters in a clue. Now people clue a di6 as di + ge4 which basically gives almost all of the word.
knight that isn't exactly a clue that is just stats
hokie sometimes you might have to open chat depending on how far down it might be
trif I used to try to finish each grid but gave up a long time ago
I'll take all the clues I can get!!!
me too deeha!
is7?
is7/28 put in quarentine
any clues for the Di 7/36 please?

agreed, mlfan, and it is annoying to open the chat, I was more referring to when it's still on the screen and people are asking
Point taken.

Oh, I'm late to this, she's gone.
all the chat doesn't show up on this page,,, to see prior chat you havve to open archives.... at least I do
Molly it is 81 degrees here and very warm outside. but cool inside with windows closed
Maybe she means that when you first star( playing, it''s annoying to see clues in the chat so early
To open the whole days chat, you just have to click on the icon at the far right top of the chat. The square icon two over from My Friends. I don't get how that is annoying, but maybe for some.
Peri, it's very warm and humid here. We had big thunder storms earlier.

Hello-- reading chat-- More Words is a great source for clues-- borderline "cheating" :D
That is what is interesting about how different people play the game. Some people think looking at Lickety's List is "cheating". And yet they ask for clues in the chat.
Go figure, Molly : []
You do, however, search for words in More Words-- fun (and a little challenge) in itself
This chat is not PG :D
Especially when I am around 😛
Sooo true :D
I must also plead guilty...
Personally, I prefer a Non-PG chat. More fun, more laughs. You can only read so much about dogs and the weather. : D
Non PG weather: I must say that the weather s*cks out loud in Boston!
My personal rules for how I babble... 1. Try to get 80-90% done on my own if I can 2. Try to leave each tile with no more than 2 unsolved 3. Try to have NBS 4. Then read live chat from bottom to top 5. Then go to Lickety 6. Then either ask for a clue, or go to chat archive (which for some strange reason I also find annoying to use)
But that's just me. I gotta be me.
Ooh, I forgot my most important rule... If I'm not having fun, I'm allowed to stop.
And let the monkeys out of their cages every once in a while :)
Way to go, nrkii! Having fun is a requirement for me too :D
If I start to feel guilty about not doing chores, I stop for a token amount of time, do some, then return...
thanks for answering... I was about to add another rule of mine, which is "check to see when the last post was before you start chatting to thin air"
:D Agree
