I don't like wine or beer. I like mixed drinks but it's too much work to figure out which ones I can have (have to be gluten free due to celiac). Ciders are usually tasty. I don't like the really dry ones. They have to be sweet.

there are all kinds of ciders, as there are all kinds of wine. not all of the dry ciders taste like strongbow, which I don't like (too much like beer). There are some lovely lighter dry ciders out there.
My fave cider is Bold Rock.
not familiar with that one -- we have several local cideries as we do estate wineries.
I think wine coolers are malt beverages, which are not gluten free.

Bold Rock has two cidery locations, one in VA and one in NC. I live in NC so it's pretty easy to get in the stores. The VA one uses VA apples, and I think I like them better, but NC is still good.

Tried a new cider a couple of days ago - Maverick is made locally from granny smith and braeburn apples, no malt
I think I had one at a restaurant but don't remember if it was a brand I knew or not.
I've only seen one cider that is not GF and I can't think of what brand it was.

no - most of them are in the liquor stores as well. Some sell their entire stock to restaurants. Another criteria besides the size of the operations is that the farmgate wines must be produced from vines grown on the property and the estate wines must be produced mostly from locally grown grapes (80% I think)

there's a newish one near me. we've had an Aldi for like 15 years. they are very similar. I'm not a fan of Aldi. I have been to lidl once and it was okay.

Aldis is the closest store t our house and I am there constantly. I always have quarters in a slot in the car and it trains people not to leave carts in the middle of the lot
the one time I did it, the cashier gave me the cart at the end and it had the slot taped over so I didn't even get a quarter back!

When you can't manage a dinner party because one person is gluten free, one is vegetarian and another is vegan, entertaining becomes a chore.
I don't get the trendy either. I would eat all the gluten around if I could. It's kind of a double edged sword right now - many restaurants offer GF items but don't take any care to keep cross-contamination from happening because they just do it to keep up with the trendiness and don't understand it's a medical necessity for some.

Continued weirdness in the Triple Crown races. A horse in the Preakness Stakes today ran the whole race without a jockey, who fell off at the gate.
