happy belated birthday B ZZ
Thanks, ru!
sounds like it was a milestone birthday ? :D
Yes, just a couple years away from SS. =)
one year for me :D
Spent the day making zucchini salsa. Oh, boy! What fun!
that sounds interesting
did you have to squash the peppers ?
Ha!
Had to grate a lot of zucchini, for sure.
i do it in the cuisinart.. much easier
Happy belated B-day, Bea.. have never made zucchini salsa, could have used that recipe when we had a stellar zucchini year in the garden. Resorted to leaving them on doorsteps, lol
it's amazing how many zucchini can come out of ONE Plant
Thanks, aloy. I had three zucchini that weighed 5 lbs each...Had to do something with them.
amen to that, ru
me 7/36 please?
My day planted a row of them.. there were literally hundreds of zucchini in our backyard when i was a kid
*sorry - mi 7/36?
no me 7 nan
Just imagine how much you get from twenty plants...oy vey!
first one
a teeny weeny auto mi7
ty ru !
it was crazy bzz.. we gave shopping bags full of Zucchini to all our friends and relatives
have the tiny auto ty - need the first one
oh.
I used to make a lot of zucchini loaves
demanding aren't you :D
the bread
to chop an onion more so.. mi7
kje had a recipe for really great Zucchini bread once.. from Cooks Inc
ooh, needed that one too.. ty again ru
Yes, I made bread as well.
ty - what a silly word
i shred the zucchini like pasta noodles and make a salad with citrus, feta cheese, tomatoes, and basil that's pretty tasty.. you marinate the zucchini in the lemon juice
That does sound good. Tons of tomatoes here too.
wonderful salad, ru
add olive oil and one teaspoon of dijon mustard and salt and pepper.. super easy and a great summer salad
did you do anything fun on your birthday bzz?
looked up the def for the rh 7-9 -- like reading greek - no idea what it meant
it's spine related isn't it?
yes -- in a leaf or feather as far as I could make out
definitely not english and not something anyone other than a botanist or ornithologist would use or know
that's it.. for birds.. i remember it from biology
not that I EVER used my college education to support myself
What was your major, ru?
Marine Biology
*~*!*~* Monkeys are tired - hagd everyone :)
haven't used mine in 19 years
bye, nan.. hagd
i wanted to be a teacher aloy
it just wasn't in the cards for me.. the wine biz sucked me in and i never got out
last thing I thought I'd do but grew into it and loved it
Don't think you would want to be one now, ru --- kids are too undisciplined and parents expect the teachers to do the lparenting for them
marine biology to oenology
i did get to teach for 12 years (wine classes) it was a ton of fun for me
ah - but teaching adults who want to be there is a whole different kettle of fish
I thought I wanted to teach too after leaving the biz world. My former teacher dad counseled me not to.
I subbed one day in a preschool and was like, nope. :D
aw, hokie.. subbing is not a good yardstick. Kids are not the same with a sub
true
Like.. whee, free day!
I enjoyed running the reference desk at the college library a lot more than my last year of teaching (grades 4-7)
plus 2-3 year olds are a lot different than elem - high schoolers.
not sure how anybody could teach middle school
middle school teachers deserve halos
I was so rotten as a 6th grader!
agreed
i was always in trouble in school
spitballs, chewing gum, talking?
cutting up and cracking jokes
true confessions time, lol
NO ! I can't believe that, ru..
I really want nachos in here
I know.. i'm usually so reserved
true, a solemn one
it's a tough road being so serious all the time :D
Mr. Glum and Gloomy
exactly
I never got in trouble and was always told to "take names" when the teacher left the room, except in 8th grade I got a paddling when another girl handed me my ink pen that I dropped in the floor. that teacher was a real tyrant
i never had a teacher hit me that i can remember
i did have to sit outside the classroom a lot though :D
one of my friends got 37 paddlings that year. we had K-7 elem and 9-12 high school. 8th grade was all by itself in a really old college. it was 4 elem schools coming together and the teachers were really punishment happy.
one time our gym teacher sent one of my best friends to the office because she said she wasn't dressing out that day. my cousin yelled out he was an old fart, so he sent her too. LOL good times.
