Hope you're enjoying the alone time with Tom. A friend wrote something similar recently and she and her hubby are loving it!
We are enjoying being able to just get up and go when we want, and not think about what others need. :-) Not that we minded, of course, it's just a new kind of freedom.

We're all OK. We've had a lot of smoke haze over the past few weeks but the nearest fires were about 30 km from us. Now we're getting smoke occasionally when the winds blow it up from New South Wales. The photos and footage of the fires is frightening.

30 km isn't that far. I am glad you are okay. We had really bad smoke a couple summers in a row -- last summer wasn't bad, but it's worrying when it drifts in and you aren't sure if it's the more-distant fires or a new blaze up close.
I've read about fires in the USA and Canada and seen pics from friends in Vancouver. The loss of life, homes and wildlife is awful.

Sadly there's no real rain forecast here. The long range forecast this morning was the summer was of less rain than usual and summer is our rainy season here.

That's not good. Our autumn is dryer than normal - which means the snowpack we rely on to get through the summers isn't building up very fast this year. I hope the Pacific currents will shift in time for us to get close to normal.

We were at the Barrier Reef last year and the bleaching is beyond belief! Much worse than when we were there in 2011.
