not finding that sh 7 - only one I am missing
It's a pt, nan
Past tense, nan.
In case no one else has, I've emailed Lickety.
ty -- I would never have thought to try a pt with that!
Clues are up
BBL. Have a good night / day everyone.
cooee and g'day from me
ty, lickety
hi rose -- not a good report tonight regarding the bush fires -- are you anywhere near Sydney?
no nan. but lickety is.
not good
hope he is OK
i believe the smoke is causing all sorts of problems too.
FWs
I would imagine so -- the planes and helicopters can't always fly if the smoke is too thick
sea bird
goose
Good Evening, everyone. Those bush fires are so terrible-sounding; I cannot imagine how much land the fires have burnt there.
I know what the folks in Australia are living through...I'm in No Calif, and we've had the worst fires ever the past three years. I hope everyone there is ok, or at least hanging in.
the cool break in the weather gave our firies a chance to back burn and clear thank heavens.
Oh, that's good to hear, Rose. Cooler weather and a fire turning back on itself is a blessing for all the firefighters - and residents. I think Calif has sent a few crews over. I hope it is calming down a bit.
wasn't it a back burn that got out of control near Sydney?
Kamanjah, I feel bad for everyone in these fire areas. I watched a documentary on PBS about the Campfire in Paradise, CA last year; & I hope I never have to be in fires like that ever!
We had one "controlled burn" that they lost control of here...just up the hill several miles. Scary
Where are you, Nef? That Camp Fire was a nightmare for so many. A friend lost his home...and had just lost his wife. He bought Dad's place when Dad had to go into assisted living. Bless Dad' soul, he's in heaven now, and won't have to live thru another fire.
crashing now -- 45 for tomorrow
good night everyone
Kamanjah, I'm in the frigid, frozen state of MN (in the Twin Cities). We don't see fires like that here in MN very often; although there was a fire somewhere in the western part of the state last spring I think? But it was easily controlled (things were just too wet here for it to grow.)
Niters, Cyber
Night, Nan, sleep well.
sorry. our sunlight just went orange. went to check our firies site. no fire at the moment. it may be smoke drifting up from fires about 300kms away. (nearly 190 miles)
Nef - you are in a totally different climate than Calif. We're in the Sierra foothills, at a low altitude. I just don't like snow. It's pretty to look at, but I don't want to live where it snows. I've been here nearly 20 years, and we've had two little dustings of snow, so it works for me.
sweet dreams nan. xox
yeah, totally different climate. Last winter we had record snows ans temps down to 30 below zero (F). My grandson had almost 2 weeks off from school due to the nasty weather. (Our son & grandson live with us right now)
Rose, sorry to hear you're buried in smoke. That orange is so creepy! The smoke does drift for many miles
i've turned on the A/C as DH is asthmatic.
When there were fires 3 (?) years ago up in Canada (Alberta, maybe?) the sun here would turn both a bright orange and bloody red due to smoke in the airfare fires around a 1000 miles away.
Nef, I swear, I couldn't handle -30. I can barely handle +30! There aren't enough clothes for minus 30!
It is creepy to see the sun turn colors like that!
(Kamanjah, the secret is you dress in layers -- and layers and layers!
Rose, be sure to change those filters as soon as they get color - we go thru one every three weeks in normal weather, so I'm sure you know...just don't want the AC to go out!
I hope the A/C helps him Rose!
thanx kam. will get DH to check them in the morning. he did clean them a few weeks ago and we have used the A/C only the once since then. should be okay.
Nef, I have layers and layers, couldn't do it. I spent my first 44 years in Southern Calif. My body doesn't know how to get warm, even with four layers! I guess I'd need 6-8 layers where you are, lol! And new outer layers to fit over all those under layers.
Rose, you have filters you can clean? All I've found for our AC are disposables.
Oh, man! It's already 1:20 AM here; I got on line to look something up and stopped in Babble first! I need to get to bed!
Sleep well!
yes kam. the filters are re-usable. we went for that model specifically as we knew how much we would be using the A/C a lot.
lolll nef...sweet dreams honey. xox
Kamanjah, if you live here, you acclimatize. (That does not mean you "like" it though!) If you come visit in the windter here; you *WILL* be cold!
Good night; stay safe, everyone.
Nef, I've been in No Calif for 20 years, and I still get too cold!
Rose, could you email me info on washable filters? Thanks! I haven't found any in the size we need.
i see what i can find. what size do you need and what brand/model is your A/C?
Heck if I know brand/model - it's on the roof. I think the filters are 18"x18" - so we have inches vs cm happening. I'll see what I can find - we just talked to a guy about fixing our chimney from when the tree fell...and have his card so we can have him out to check out the unit before it gets hot again. He'll know, so I'll ask him next time he comes out.
Don't worry about it...honestly! You have enough!
are you sure? i don't mind at all. perhaps if you can take a pic on your phone and send me it. Don may be able to work it out for us.
I'm not going up on the roof!! I'm too old for that nonsense. The younger guys can get paid to go up there! Michael was up there a couple of weeks ago, and I told him NO MORE! We can hire younger people who have good balance to do those jobs!
We need the unit checked out - it has run perfectly for years and years, so it needs to be checked anyway. I don't want to have a heat wave hit and the AC go out, so we are being proactive now.
sons
i didn't mean for you to go up on the roof, silly. see if you can get a pic from either of your yards.
Son's an electrician...
haha, I forgot to move the cursor
*giggle*
nice side-stepping..
It's a gray box on the roof, I haven't a clue. I was just told to be sure to change the filter often. It went out on me the first year I lived here - I had no idea about how often to change filters - in So Calif, it was about twice a year. Not every three weeks!
We will just have the pro check it out now that we have his card and have talked with him. All set!
okay sweetie. the offer is still there. xox
Thanks! And thanks to Don too.
Hey, y'all. I was thinking about Flosey last night and I can't remember seeing her. Has anyone seen her?
not for ages peach.
do you have email?
Wonder if Molly would know?
do you have Flosey's email? i have and could email her.
I don't have it, Rose. That would be great if you could get through to her. Thanks much.
ooohhh. and ruby is on-line now. xox ruby.
Oh, Hey there Ruby. Would love to hear from you.

i have one sh5/14, yes
4 sh6's; 5sh4; 11 sh5; and you have the sh7
* assumes "Rilla" is short for Gorilla *
and i've checked my plurals and past te6
Rilla is short for Marilla, not Gorilla
:-P
ok it's a sh5 then
That's a much better name for a cat.
My Viv likes to do the exact same thing.

In winter I swear by my "British warm" filled with boiling water under the covers.
I hate that hurshy
help with the sn words pls?
one is a 4 letter babblet that we have rather often
the longer one sounds like the bad guys in a Dr Seuss book
the ones with stars on their bellies
the other is a 6 and sounds like a dr. seuss word
lol jinx
heehee hurshy
s +man's name

I got the sn 4
does the other have a double vowel?
yes it does
ty go tit
and yes it does sound kind of dr seussish
FW. Clues anyone?
Grid today has a higher than usual percentage of actual words
Either that or I've started imagining babblets are actual words :-)
OK gonna stop talking to myself here and skedaddle. HAGD all!
you remind me of Jeff Goldblum in one of the Jurassic Parks "and here I am, uh, talking to myself" or something like that ;)
I am throwing in the towel with 34 left and going to the list. too much going on with the S's
hmm, somehow I didn't have any to's even though I'm quite sure I did

Hi, TO.
is there snow where you are, or you, Carla?
nope, 64 degrees right now! rainy though
ah, yes, you're in NC, right? I remember wearing shorts in Dec. when I lived there
yep
the snow from a few weeks ago had pretty much melted, leaving a grey landscape. But we got more today. sadly, there will be sleet & freezing rain on top, so it's not fun snow.
I think last year we had a snow in Dec, but usually they are in Jan or Feb
yuck
my idjit dog likes to just sit in the back yard. in the snow. for hours. watching squirrels
well, wherever you are, stay cozy!
you too!
i'm off to retrieve the hound.
