It was breezy. It was an old tree that should have been taken out a couple years ago.

Blah. That happened to us once. Side yard. I think hubby was rather gleeful that he got to take the chainsaw to it.
Then the neighbors took all the cut stuff for firewood. So, nothing went to waste.
Fortunately, it didn't fall on our lovely house! It did fall towards a van parked across the street, but barely any damage to it.
There are two more trees just like it in the front yard that need to come out or they will hit the house.
LOL, something about husbands and chainsaws. My husband loves when he has to get his out and saw something up.

judi, my SIL lives on the Intercoastal in Jacksonville and there is an eagle's nest at a house on her street. Actually, there was one and the people wanted the tree cut down and it was a huge ordeal of red tape but they finally did and the eagles built another in a different tree.
I'm heading out...I will get these packages in the mail today or die trying...

to those without family for christmas, who are the last ones standing from family, i want to say that I can so so so relate. I was an only child. when my mom died after my dad had already died, i was so devastated. try to surround yourselves with friends. that is all i can say.

one suggestion: go volunteer for xmas! at a hospital or a homeless shelter or somewhere and it gives meaning to your life and to your day.

I agree with mkg. There are a lot of meaningful ways to spend Christmas if you are on your own.
I once spent an entire xmas at a nursing home just chatting with the people living there who ventured into the communal living room. It was wonderful.
