We are having three 80 year old trees removed from our yard today. I will finally be able to breath easier.

8:35 am

For fear that they will fall on the house?

8:35 am

and you will get more sun:)

because you are allergic or afraid they're going to fall on the house?

8:35 am

Because they are going to fall on our house.

8:36 am

I am already planning plants for mor sun.

8:36 am

I have a 60-foot Norway spruce lying in my front yard, covered with snow. I fell in a windstorm in January. In the spring it will get chopped up. Fortuntely it caused no damage.

8:37 am

we had trees removed near us and now we can see the main road.. not our decision

8:37 am

wow scrab!

8:37 am

We had one of the "sister" trees fall in December. Thank goodness it fell away from the house.

8:39 am

bzz lucky aren't ya?

8:39 am

That time we were. Didn't want to push our luck.

8:39 am

This tree that fell blocked sunsets so I am not 100% sad.

8:40 am

yeah no kidding

8:41 am

A friend will cut it up and sell the wood for firewood for campers at the nearby park.

8:43 am

8:47 am

8:47 am

8:47 am

It's also not native to the US.

8:48 am

i didn't know that?

8:48 am

From China originally.

8:49 am

oh how cool

I had not heard of that and just looked it up and they said to think twice about adding it to your garden

8:50 am

hmm i wonder why?

8:50 am

Yes, they are not very attractive. Can be a pain.

8:51 am

they have sharp points sticking out of them

8:52 am

The Oregan grape holly is very similar and it is native.

https://tinyurl.com/tlkzsec

8:53 am

of course with the virus going around i don't think i would go near them if i saw them

8:53 am

Ours were planted by pervious owners.

8:53 am

3:30 pm

Hello Nan. :-)

3:32 pm

28 left and thinking about going to the list

3:33 pm

phantoms ransom and transom -- don't know why I persist

3:40 pm

You are the very same as the rest of us Nan. You persist so that you can see a small black rectangle with a few stars exploding in the bottom left quadrant of your screen & you experience an inexplicable sense of achievement. A joy only experienced by dedicated Babblers.

3:49 pm

HELLO; Is Soodle still here?

3:55 pm

i actually have been working on a word game of my own with a couple friends. would anyone be interested in trying it out? it's multiplayer on android and iPhone

3:56 pm

*!*~*!* bye everyone :)

3:57 pm

Nan, I often wonder why I persist too. Especially with all the insane words in these grids.

3:57 pm

it's pretty tough just like Babble but in a different way. there's some word search too. it's called https://hexiconapp.com/

4:00 pm

4:17 pm

tyvm fw Luv

just finished, any clues needed?

4:25 pm

clues for the n would be great!

na 5/10 & na 4/4

4/4 is n + 3 vowels

4:26 pm

Ruby? Any chance you are still here? I’m noodling between Babble & half a dozen other places!!

na 5/10 n + what we breathe + vowel

ni 4/4 + most of the number after 5

4:29 pm

ok found the ni 4/4 most of the number after 5, and the na 5/10....tried every combination of n + 3 vowels and still stuck...

na + **l is used as a lubricant in your car

4:30 pm

AHA - except for that one! Thank you!

4:31 pm

Nominating LuvWordGames as Cluer of The Week!! Thanks for the great clues, LWG!

LOL thanks Soodle :-)

4:38 pm

😊

4:46 pm

The past few weekends have been pretty difficult. Clearing out my late Mother’s house to get it ready to be sold. Memories in every single corner, cupboard & crevice. Agonising about throwing out her spectacles. Useless to anybody else as they are prescription, but still painful to dump such personal stuff. I’m a bit of a mess at the moment.

4:47 pm

Ditto her hairbrush. Toothbrush. Oh my goodness. I’m an emotional wreck.

4:48 pm

sorry to hear that soodle. i feel like throwing away the toothbrush is a safe bet :)

4:48 pm

if there's something that really speaks to you maybe you could repurpose.

4:52 pm

Lol, of course, LeslieAnn. Luckily I have 2 brothers who are ruthless....Everything of no monetary value is binned. I’m just struggling with memories etc.

4:59 pm

I had a fractious relationship with my Mam. I will benefit significantly from her death, financially. I guess I’m struggling to square the whole thing in my head.

5:04 pm

Soodle, please be kind and gentle with yourself. Both my parents are gone; I understand what you are feeling, especially the struggling to 'square'... A friend told me, "Your dad wasn't able to be the kind of parent you needed; wasn't able to give you a strong, loving father. That's on him. It's okay to accept what he left you, and to remember it as a small token." Sending you gentle hugs.

5:04 pm

I find I have a much better relationship with my mother now that she is dead. Still talk to her every day, but she's not as critical as she used to be.

5:07 pm

Thx magpie that gives me hope when my mom passes

5:09 pm

I kept my parents glasses when they passed. It's nice to still have things that were their window to the world.

5:26 pm

Could I have the stats for the last column e please?

5:28 pm

eo5

5:29 pm

/10

5:29 pm

Thanks. Realised what is was as soon as you gave the stats

5:30 pm

mm hmm i do that when listing sometimes "UGH et 4/4"

5:31 pm

Always that one

5:32 pm

if i'm missing an et 6/18, i know it's eterne without looking at the puzzle

5:32 pm

Thank you very much guys. I had both parents up until 2 years ago & I'm no spring chicken!! In fact, I became a Grandma & an orphan within 2 weeks. Despite our difficult relationship I miss my Mam more than I would have expected. I'm off to bed now. Sorry for hogging the chat & thanks for the support.

5:33 pm

soodle you are always more than welcome to hog the chat. sending positive thoughts your way.

6:01 pm
