The past few weekends have been pretty difficult. Clearing out my late Mother’s house to get it ready to be sold. Memories in every single corner, cupboard & crevice. Agonising about throwing out her spectacles. Useless to anybody else as they are prescription, but still painful to dump such personal stuff. I’m a bit of a mess at the moment.
Ditto her hairbrush. Toothbrush. Oh my goodness. I’m an emotional wreck.

I had a fractious relationship with my Mam. I will benefit significantly from her death, financially. I guess I’m struggling to square the whole thing in my head.
Soodle, please be kind and gentle with yourself. Both my parents are gone; I understand what you are feeling, especially the struggling to 'square'... A friend told me, "Your dad wasn't able to be the kind of parent you needed; wasn't able to give you a strong, loving father. That's on him. It's okay to accept what he left you, and to remember it as a small token." Sending you gentle hugs.
I find I have a much better relationship with my mother now that she is dead. Still talk to her every day, but she's not as critical as she used to be.
