Report today that all over 70's could be 'self isolated' for 4 months 'for our own good'!! Wonder if us that are happy to take the risk?! Wonder if they have factored in the cost to mental health services for all of us that go stir crazy looking at the same 4 walls for that long!

6:15 am

Rose, not sure you saw my message yesterday so I'll repeat: dear Ruby, please know you're in my heart and i'm sending you much love. XXXOOO J. Lee

6:22 am

Rose, please pass on my message to Ruby, too. Dear Ruby, I am sending heaps of love and healing thoughts. All of us Babblers are thinking of you right now. xxx

6:26 am

Ruby...you will be in my prayers. Know that we are thinking of you.

6:36 am

For Ruby... On the day when the weight deadens on your shoulders and you stumble, may the clay dance to balance you. And when your eyes freeze behind the grey window and the ghost of loss gets into you, may a flock of colours, indigo, red, green and azure blue, come to awaken in you a meadow of delight. When the canvas frays in the currach of thought and a stain of ocean blackens beneath you, may there come across the waters a path of yellow moonlight to bring you safely home. May the nourishment of the earth be yours, may the clarity of light be yours, may the fluency of the ocean be yours, may the protection of the ancestors be yours. And so may a slow wind work these words of love around you, an invisible cloak to mind your life. ~"Bennacht" John O'Donohue

6:40 am

Very nice, Molly.

6:44 am

Ruby...my heartfelt wishes for comfort. May you feel surrounded by love and friendship, know that you matter to so many, so grateful for the existence of hospice and the loving souls who provide those in their greatest time of need time with dignity. Thankful for time with you on Playbabble., hugs sweet lady.

7:09 am

I hope you got my email, Ruby but I'm sending more love and hugs through babble. Thinking of you xxx

all of the state wine and liquor stores in Pa will close on Tues till further notice. so glad I bought gin last week. would hate to be in one of those stores today

8:26 am

this is a tough little grid

8:27 am

I also bought tonic and limes

8:28 am

Oh yes, I have chocolate and chocolate chip cookies too.

8:31 am

I have the WI 6 / 30 left to find in the Ws

Most are pretty easy to find

8:38 am

I hate it when I miss simple words, a TA 4/4 :)

8:39 am

I always miss 4s because I have no patience for them.

8:40 am

Okay, down to 13, have to go do other stuff. Good luck

good news guys i don't have a fever this morning

10:09 am

that IS good news!!!

10:10 am

this would have been a good day for a 500 worder....

10:10 am

Good news, hurshy!

10:10 am

yes but they are made by the computer years in advance

10:11 am

im manically checking my email every ten seconds - the school committee is currently holding an emergency meeting to vote on whether or not to pay us.

10:11 am

well i cannot see in the least what the S word can be

10:11 am

Yes, I was disappointed at the size as well. We are going to have to have bigger grids if we are going to be successful at social distancing.

10:12 am

It is crazy that you have to worry about that too, Trif.

10:12 am

well i've been working as a sub, so, i KNOW i don't get paid

10:12 am

hurshy :(

10:13 am

driveby hi guys. did all but 7 in the middle of the night and then just used the list. social distancing myself from the internet because I keep having panic attacks and anxiety. might check in tomorrow.

10:14 am

good plan, hokie. I plan to spend most of today off line and outside.

10:14 am

Get some fresh air and sunshine, Carla!

10:14 am

ty Bea

10:15 am

well, sunshine in short supply here, but the youngest & I are going to go mt. biking later today for the fresh air. should be able to finish a lot of sewing projects too!

10:15 am

We have clouds today, but I'm counting on those uv rays getting through the clouds. Heading out to play in the yard...

10:16 am

that is my plan for the rainy days ahead. I'm off for at least two weeks, so I am trying to be productive.

10:16 am

I keep waiting for it to rain on my freshly planted flowers but I think I'm going to have to break down and water them later.

10:17 am

mr. homie put new drip lines around but didn't get them operational before he left.

10:18 am

can anyone help me with the S word?

10:18 am

still way too early to plant here.

10:18 am

"Mr. Homie" ... I love spell check : D

10:19 am

there was a good clue overnight some time hurshy

10:19 am

well, that was intentional but due to spell check errors of the past

10:19 am

Google search Indian cow Hursh, it comes right up

10:20 am

well it did, but, oh dear

10:20 am

the first thing that came up was that some hindus in india are drinking cow urine to try to ward off coronavirus

10:20 am

trifioso, I wanted to plant some lantana but couldn't find them. I wonder if it is too early for that here.

10:20 am

i am guessing that that will not work

10:21 am

it did hurshy! found it right away. sa7.48

10:21 am

sa + short for hello + first three of Beaver Cleaver's brother

10:21 am

Try a pakistani cow instead, Hursh

10:22 am

we dont really plant anything other than peas and lettuce until memorial day weekend.

10:22 am

I planted dianthus, dusty miller, some ground cover I had never seen (Grace Ward something?) and a rhododendron. will get some lantana to fill in between the ground cover and another rhododendron.

10:22 am

It is in the little paragraph under the pictures that says Cows In India

10:23 am

the big "garden" news here is that we are adopting two goats. Met them yesterday - total sweethearts! Spending the next couple of days getting things ready for their arrival

10:23 am

in the deck beds, I planted 3 tomato plants and 3 strawberry plants (covered in netting but I'm sure the squirrels will still get), a basil and a romaine, though I think lettuce does better in the fall.

10:23 am

omg, love goats

10:23 am

still wrestling with names. They are both males. One is Leonardo Di Capricorn, the other we can't decide. It's down to Vincent Van Goat, Jeff Goatblum, or Tom Brady

10:24 am

LOL, I love punny names

10:24 am

I vote Jeff Goatblum, keep it on the actor theme

10:25 am

will record your vote!

10:25 am

no i'm not saying the google search didn't work, i'm saying i think that drinking cow urine to ward off coronavirus will not work

10:26 am

You think? Yet I bet people tried it.

10:26 am

that's what i'm saying. a hindu group in india is trying it.

10:27 am

well, I guess if none of them get it we'll know

10:27 am

no we won't!

hi hurhs, how are you feeling today?

10:28 am

People in Iran are dying of alcohol poisoning after drinking tainted alcohol when it was rumored that alcohol kills corona virus.

10:28 am

somewhat better and no fever TO thanks

10:28 am

alcohol on your hands can kill germs but sigh

10:29 am

I have to go to the liquor store later and I hope it is not crowded due to Pennsylvania announcing liquor store closings. It's going to get bad if people can't get their hands on liquor when they want it.

10:30 am

NIH worker has corona. first case. and my hubby wants to go to NIH tomorrow to work............doctors are the worst.

first case? MD C and VA have cluster cases

10:31 am

does anyone have E word top ro?

10:32 am

I think she meant first case at NIH.

molly, our state stores are closing Tuesday. soemone sent me a phto of the store in the neighboring town. the shelves look like the toilet paper aisle in Walmart.

10:32 am

em 4/8

10:32 am

first NIH case.

our outbreak started froma DO who went right back to work after travel to egypyt AND saw pediatric patients until they rushed him to the hospital

10:33 am

Stay home and isolated + no access to liquor is a recipe for disaster

10:33 am

no idea how to clue it

well, ins ome stuations, staying home WITH liquor would be a recipe for disaster. thank gof we finally are able to get beer and wine in some groceries.

10:34 am

there is life without liquor......i never drink.

it's time to go. perhaps BBL. and perhaps even will open chat window.

10:34 am

the em 4 8: dont see it.

10:35 am

I really hope this experience changes how people are allowed back into our country after travel to other countries. There should be some kind of medical screening. Although I guess people could test negative and still be carrying something.

10:35 am

it's an odd word

10:35 am

got the em word. ty

10:35 am

how about S word? ty

YES!!! latest phila case is a kid back from college study abroad and right back into daily life.

10:36 am

There is life without liquor. However there are people who are alcohol dependent. And if they can't get their hands on liquor, they are going to start doing unsavory things to get it.

10:36 am

sa 7/48 ... google indian cow

my low risk exposure came from the sam sceanrio. person had to symptoms, right back into the daily grind.

alcohol is not evil. it's the way it is used. people can use it or not. those who do not are no better or worse than those who do.

10:38 am

i dont think it is evil but to believe you will die without it is what is wrong.

10:39 am

ty for cow clue. got it.

10:39 am

one last clue needed: E 5th column please. ty

10:40 am

nm got one. ty

i did not see anyone saying that. i see people using humor to lighten a dark time.

10:41 am

clue for wi6 please

here comes the sun. i will soon go out to continue yard cleanup.

happy babbling.

10:48 am

Ty blah for the s clue. Will do more pick up sticks later. That is my version of yard work.

10:49 am

13 words left.

10:51 am

I vote for Kid Rock Trif

10:51 am

I like Vincent van Goat

10:51 am

lol. Had not considered, will run by the naming committee. Zygoat was also deselected, but I rather liked.

10:52 am

Zygoat is a good one

10:52 am

GoatTEE is cute too

10:53 am

if it's a female maybe NannyReagan

10:53 am

any clue for the wi6/30 ?

10:53 am

Of course, you could be inconspicuously cute and name him Scape.

10:54 am

that's a good one too molly

10:54 am

10:57 am

toilet paper seems to be a bigger problem here

10:57 am

sorry meant li5 and li6 - clues please - thanks

10:58 am

It's just been announced that all pubs & clubs in Dublin's Temple Bar area (main socialising area in the city) are shutting immediately.

10:59 am

Make you own. 60% alcohol endin amount, plus aloe

10:59 am

Paddies. On Paddies Day. With no pubs to go to????

11:00 am

for some in Ireland it might be a good idea to cut back right now

11:00 am

IF you can find alcohol...shortages there too, I understand

11:00 am

Hand sanitizer is when you cannot find soap and water.

11:00 am

i can't find alcohol here either.. we have been wiped out here

11:02 am

li 5 is li + beginning of what wags on a dog

11:02 am

My goodness Ru! Is that not a tad racist? Have you been to Ireland, or are you basing your statement in stereotyping?

11:02 am

li 6 is like the light

11:03 am

i haven't been to ireland. Scotland interests me more

11:05 am

ru, apologies for calling you an old fart yesterday but it was for the cause of a really good pun

11:05 am

So, how have you formed the opinion that some people in Ireland should cut back?

11:05 am

Ru are you talking about rubbing alcohol or liquor

11:06 am

li6 like a light - sorry not very bright today - pardon the pun - could you elaborate please ru - thanks

11:06 am

i'm talking about rubbing alcohol here molly.. the stores are wiped out completely

11:06 am

no problem Leslie i thought it was funny

11:06 am

:)

11:07 am

maybe more like those special batteries marian

11:07 am

Oh yeah, we have been in short/no supply for over a week. I'm off to the liquor store. I will report on conditions when I return.

11:07 am

Oh no - the Temple Bar area was my favorite place to visit in Dublin

11:07 am

Got it thanks very much - all done and finished - bye

11:08 am

congrats marian!

11:08 am

I think it is a sign of the apocalypse if bars in Ireland are closing. God help us all.

11:09 am

schools here are shut down for 6 weeks

11:09 am

no gatherings of more than 250 people.

11:09 am

six weeks seems like a lot!

11:09 am

Glad you enjoyed the experience, Vash. I hope you encountered the occasional sober person on your travels through Ireland?

11:09 am

just 2 weeks here

11:10 am

I found more sober ones than drunk

11:10 am

I especially liked the city of Cahir

11:10 am

all the wineries here (large ones) have limits or are closed to the public right now. everyone is a bit freaked out

11:10 am

Ah! Tipperary. Nice spot.

11:12 am

I just pickup up my wine early from our winery in case they closed, but they had plenty on hand and were open

11:12 am

what's your winery Vash?

11:12 am

Palouse

11:12 am

it's on Vashon

11:12 am

Our PM is talking about putting troops into stores to deter stockpiling. People have been opening boxes, taking what they want and throwing the rest on the floor. One old lady asked a man toting a huge pack of toilet rolls if she could buy two off him. he wouldn't agree. I am appalled at what the British have become.

11:13 am

oh yikes jaxx

11:14 am

That's terrible, Jaxx. The hoarding is so selfish.

11:15 am

i agree.. there was some jerk down une's way that ran around and bought up all the hand sanitizers in the two counties everywhere to sell on Amazon at high prices, but they shut him down

11:15 am

There was one chap on the TV who had filled his spare room from floor to ceiling with toilet rolls. I can only think he is planning to sell them on and make himself a profit.

11:15 am

or he's full of sh...

11:16 am

why not both

11:17 am

It's ridiculous that people are acting this way...calm down, I don't see how having 40 extra rolls of tp in your house is going to prevent you from getting the virus

11:17 am

Especially as it is respiratory.

11:18 am

if it could be business as normal everyone would have what they need.. the hoarders are the real problem.

11:18 am

there was a good vice article where they went and interviewed people buying multiple packs of toilet paper about why. basically they all said "i don't know, everyone else is doing it"

11:18 am

Fw.

11:19 am

congrats mixi!

11:19 am

The CEO of Sainsburys has put out a statement to the effect that if everyone would act normally there would be no shortages. Watching the behaviour of some I think he is too late.

11:23 am

ORi.. you did get my notes last night yes?

11:23 am

From looking at the lines out the door at Costco - Costco is making a fortune

11:24 am

all the grocery stores are making a fortune right now.. it's insane

11:24 am

Just got an email from the University President that all operations will be remote beginning on Tuesday. Looks like I'll be home for a while.

11:24 am

that was expected ori i'd guess

11:24 am

Just got them, ru.

11:25 am

ok good thanks

11:25 am

lol clever pic ori

11:26 am

:D

11:26 am

the grocery store's profit margin doesn't change if we buy them out of a product all at once or over weeks or months. the profit comes further up the supply chain as demand to restock increases

11:30 am

going through the list now ... hot take, if you can't find a word just put a v in it in an odd place

11:31 am

The good news is that my friend Jameson and I will remain on friendly terms for another few months. No lines or empty shelves at the liquor stores here...yet.

11:32 am

Good to know the booze supply is holding up.

11:32 am

I would guess grocery store profits are up. People are buying more than they usually do and people who don't usually buy food (eat out a lot) are stocking up on things.

11:33 am

I know I spend twice what I usually do in a week, adding non perishable foods and extra soap, toothpaste and such.

11:36 am

I wonder what it says about us, as a society, that when shortage is threatened, the thing we hoard is toilet paper. : D

11:37 am

we're a charmin species

11:38 am

I'm sure that this experience is going to change the way people buy and store toilet paper in the future.

11:39 am

i always seem to buy ahead so that won't change for me

11:41 am

i have a new little song

11:41 am

"iiiii'm ok i'm not dead"

11:41 am

I hadn't thought about toothpaste. I will have to get a spare tube.

a great time for those grocery delivery services. i'd be ahppy to to that for elderly neighbors.

11:43 am

my sister said walmart cancelled their delivery tho

11:44 am

at least in her area

lack of personnel?

11:50 am

How are you feeling hursh?

11:59 am

The guy in the liquor store said Pennsylvania is just shooting themselves in the foot. People in Pennsylvania who can't get liquor are just going to drive down to Maryland to get it. Thus increasing the amount of people out and about, where they are and who they come in contact with.

12:34 pm

12:56 pm

What at the stats for the e in the 4th column please?

12:56 pm

em 4/8 jax

12:58 pm

I'm dreading all operations being cancelled. My hubbie is waiting for a part to be made to have part of an implant in his leg replaced. It's still another 5 weeks to surgery and he's at huge risk of his leg being amputated if it fractures before the part is replaced. It's a huge worry for us.

12:59 pm

Oh, Jax, that's scary.

1:00 pm

It is. He had bone cancer diagnosed about 18 months ago and we still don't seem to be out of the woods yet. No cancer, but still living with the disability for the time being. I hope they class it as urgent surgery and he'll get it done

1:01 pm

Sure sounds urgent to me!

1:03 pm

It is, and it would probably have been operated on apart from the lead time to make the part. 6-8 weeks from the date the surgeon gave the go ahead, although I suspect that she is already chasing it up to see how long it will take them to deliver

1:04 pm

Wishing you best of luck, Jax. Off to paint something now.

1:05 pm

Thanks and got the em as well

1:10 pm

wi 6/30, pls

1:11 pm

1:21 pm

I work with a guy in his late twenties who didn't know who The Eagles were when I mentioned them. Sad.

1:23 pm

ty hurshy, fw

1:30 pm

Yeah, everyone knows they are the football team from Philadelphia! :D

1:32 pm

I thought they were the highest level boy scouts

1:33 pm

2Bit, there has to be some golden nerd award for that response. : D

1:33 pm

hi hurshy I bought shampoo and conditioner bars from Viori after I saw you mention it here. Have not tried them yet

1:49 pm

1:50 pm

i hope you will enjoy them as much as i do peri! which scent did you choose?

1:51 pm

that sa word is bullishit i say--- bullshit

1:56 pm

as a capitol city , it should not be allowe in this game

1:58 pm

Hidden Waterfall hurshy. what did you choose

2:01 pm

The sa word is also a kind of cow, SMom

2:02 pm

sorry folks, the older i get , the harder it to control my temper and i probably need to rest...later all

2:14 pm

Oh let it rip, SMom. You've earned it.

2:34 pm

Now that I have read about the sa7,48 and know what a fantastic dairy/meat animal they are I have adapted that ole purple cow poem. I have never seen an sa7,48 but I do hope to see one! I wonder if Lickety has them in his area as I did read how they have been cross bred to make excellent livestock in AU.

3:00 pm

i thought they worshipped cows in India and didn't eat them

3:01 pm

did Lickety move?

3:07 pm

I think the comment was saying that Indian cows are being cross bred with cows in Australia (AU). This is how abbreviations confuse people.

3:09 pm

Ah, ok, thanks Molly. I didn't catch the originate in India note.

3:09 pm

Cows are not worshiped in India, but they are held sacred. (Different) Hindus are vegetarians and consider the cow a sacred "maternal" figure.

3:10 pm

okay, I'm stuck on the Wh 5/20, any help please?

3:10 pm

slut?

3:10 pm
