Okay, I posted the block and in the background are scraps I'm going to use. I did find a pattern for this block which surprised me! Thought I would make another block and put the points of the hearts together. Then add borders to make it fit a small chest she has in her room that displays her family pictures. I also thought about putting a checkerboard between the two blocks.

check surge fabrics, they had the small round elastic like on some disposable masks. I got some and like it better than the flat. I think it's more comfortable and forgiving on bigger heads too.

Also a recipe for French-style pain perdu, calling for soaking day-old bread in light cream, beaten egg, bourbon, and sugar and sauteing in a pan with a stick of butter. I gained more weight in two years in NO than with my pregnancy!

I make a mean red beans and rice, however. I use Camelia brand red beans--that's non-negotiable to a New Orleanian. And it really does make a difference. Last time I was in NO for a conference, I walked two miles to a grocery store and hauled ten pounds of them back in my suitcase!

In my humble opinion, black lives matter emphasizes the black vs white agenda. I prefer to think of it as "us" instead of separate thoughts. We don't come together as an "us" if it is constantly about black or white or hispanic or any other race.

I truly hope this becomes an ongoing movement. Not just something that crops up when something awful gets caught on video. Because awful things like the George Floyd incident happen all the time and to people of several ethnic origins.
