Deeha, I love haggis, be it cockney or Scottish!

I agree. A lot of the Babble re words make no sense to me.
re, is an absolute nightmare for me...
Morning, friends.
howdy bzzn
Miss Bea is here. Miss Bea! Miss Bea! Can you see me in The Magic Mirror? I've been a good little Do-Bee.
LOL!
hi Bzzn...
Every time you say "morning, friends" it reminds me of Romper Room.
I remember the Magic Mirror but not the morning, friends
And speaking of kids shows in the '60's...did you ever wonder...what was Captain Kangaroo the captain of?
I loved Captain Kangaroo.
Mr. Moose was my favorite.
Mr. Moose, Bunny Rabbit and the ping pong balls!
I would hoot every time those ping pong balls fe..
fell
I always assumed he was Captain of a steamboat. That is what his uniform looked like to me.
I liked Bun Rabbit.
Grandfather Clock was a little creepy
Looks like odyssey is my phantom today.
vagrant is mine
My Life Long Travels: The Odyssey of a Vagrant by Ho Bow
Captain Kangaroo was my first hearthrob...
Anyone remember Crusader Rabbit or Tom Terrific and His Mighty Dog Manfred?
Neer heard of them. jzw.
Googled them. They were before my time just a wee bit.
I guess that ages me...I think Tom Terrific was played during Capn Kang.
Tom Terrific? Absolutely. I wish I could duplicate his sound here.
Yes, that what wikipedia said.
didn't he say he had to rev up his rotor tail?
I loved Tom Terrific
And please don’t forget Ragland T. “Rags†Tiger!
Crabby Appleton...great villain
Is a vagan a vagrant vegan? : D
I feel young! Crusader Rabbit were reruns for me!
nbt
Gotta leave for Trader Jo's senior hour!
enjoy
Lots of diferent words today.
Hey kids.
Hello, Scrabs.
How are you today, Bea?
I'm good. Thanks. Finally realizing "this" is going to go on for a while so I better just deal with it.
The pandemic?
Yes.
For the first 7-8 weeks I had intense anxiety, then the sadness and acceptance his me. Yes, this virus may plague us forever, but I am hoping for an effective vaccine, even we have to receive it yearly.
Comforting Scrabs
Wow, I just read that 1/3 of people interviewed said they would not get a COVID vaccine if it became available. This was on CNN so I give it a little credence.
Well, we need hope that scientists will help with this crisis.
Those are probably the same 1/3 that think it is a hoaz and won't wear mosks.
On a more humorous note, people are breaking out in their mask area and it is being referred to as "maskne" : D
I have read that people question the safety of a rapidly produced vaccine. Fear of this virus vs fear of a vaccine, which is stronger?
I can understand people being afraid of a rapidly produced, not widely tested vaccine
Yes.
I was finally able to get my second shingles shot.
Glad that is over!
Now it is on to a colonoscopy...=(
yuck bzzn - colonoscopy not so bad - its the pre-treatment that I dread
Yes, me too.
Yes, the prep is the worst.
I have a hard time with low blood sugar when I
I'm not eating.
i didn't know their was a shot for shingles?
hello
Cheers.
Yes, MLFAN, called Shingrix. It is far more effective than the previous shingles vaccine.
my grandmother had shingles around earlier 2000

like someone saying they were leaving and you say okay see you later. . .

language is random generally IMHO
Honestly, I don't get most of the slang and abbreviations tossed around the internet. My comfort zone is regular old words. : D

The zi7 led me to the zi6/39
I actually started with the zi4 ;)
those a's are "fun"
yeah.. i am missing half of them
down to 4 missing there....46 left overall
missed a bunch from a common ending...down to 35 now
good morning everyone :)
hi nan
are you back in lock down mode, ru?
not here .. but a lot of California is again
it's going to be a rough summer, I'm afraid
yeah.. i think so.. a lot of dumb people not getting with the program
so far the tourists have been staying away from here, but that won't last long --- seeing more motorhomes every day.
What is the problem with motor homes?
they bring people from covid infested areas to our area which at the moment is pretty much covid free
we're anxious here because our governor wants to move the whole commonwealth into phase 3, and though our cases are declining, we're the highest population region that had the highest case load.
and, yeah a rough summer indeed.
these a's are brutal
We are only just beginning to see the effects of this. Unemployment is the highest it has been since The Depression. People are out of work and are going to start running out of money.
agreed, molly
and nan, yeah tough grid
you would think that people who could afford it would dig a little deeper and help out, but it never seems to occur to so many people. I was chatting with neighbours the other day and mentioned that there weren't any of us in our gated community who couldn't afford to sign over the $300 cheque our government is sending all retirees to the food bank and they all looked at me as if I was crazy. I don't think there is one of us who is spending their income right now!
There are very few generous people these days.
I think people are going to have to realize that those that can need to help out if we as a society are going to get through the next couple of years. Either that or the government will have to force it through taxation.
I don't think that will go over well in the US
especially when you have a president that wants to pull what little medicare you have
It is not just a matter of The President. It is a matter of the wealthy wanting to stay wealthy.
The US and taxation don't get along
and higher taxes never go over well anywhere - but sometimes it becomes necessary - whatever happened to social responsibility?
Ooo, let's have another Tea Party.
Depends where you are in the US, but the Midwest and South not so much
As in The Boston Tea Party, not that dim conservatives club
People will get out there and protest that lives matter, but when it comes to actually sharing the wealth, that is a different story.
someone should tell the wealthy that they can die from this too -- and as long as they don't look after the less fortunate, it is more likely that they will.
Canada and the US are so different
anyone able to clue the ga 7?
this grid is stumping me today
don't have it, but will look
still struggling with the c's
ga7...start like fast animal and end with the opposite of depression
found it, but don't know how to clue it other than spelling it out
Some kind of African flower. Bea The Master Gardener probably saw it right away
hello from canada
Sorry, the end of the opposite of depression. Which is also the last four of Pittsburgh's state.
thank you very much molly
wow.. couldn't find that to save my life
It is those kind of words that usually make me say "And that's all the Babble for today"
the a's g's and c's are terrible today
that gr 8/75 took forever to find
thanks for the gr7
have the gr 7, but no 8 yet
ec 7 please?
ec plus brand of vacuum cleaner ;)
thanks wendrie
don't think we've met yet, welcome to babbleland if you're new-ish :)
wendrie has been around longer than me hursh
oh, well, then, i'm just in a bubble i guess
thanks, wendrie
Echoover? Eckirby? OK, probably not Ecelectrolux ;)
ty wendrie - would never have found that without help
"i just think things should work properly"
that gr8.75 was unexpected, thanks
Hi hurshy - I usually dip in and out and don't always chat. I've got more time than usual at the moment...
annoying that I can't find that gr 8 when I know the first 4 letters
it sounds italian, fwiw
Nan - it's a musical direction
off to run an errand, back later
does it mean to play thankfully?
name that proper noun! The Usual Suspect
loudly hursh
well yes - but only because I've not got work, so it's not all good
Ah, the Italian clue helped!
maybe not
ah.. means flowingly
time to get to work here.. have fun folks thank you for the clue molly you saved my day
and here I always thought flowingly was ligato
oh well - will come back to it later maybe -- have had about enough of this one
Me, too. When it becomes a chore, it isn't fun anymore. So, I'm going to get back to household duties and leave this one be.
i dont like this grid, its frustrating me
I'm just working my way through the list, then calling it quits
same
fo' shiz
they're all frustrating in some way or another
idk, i think there are some that are just super fun
yawwwwwn

i just have a 7 that doesn't go with anything (as far as i know)
clue please?
ac + vowel + tv's nick at _____
the co7 44 is an extention of the co4 6 before it
there's an ac7 and 8 thats a sea anemone
break down clue please, ata?
don't know the tv show you are talking about hurshy
yeah we can't all be marine biologists lol
it's not a show, cnan, it was just nickolodeon's programming in the dark hours, old shows, they referred to it collectively as nick at ...
no idea then
the dark hours, that's a hint
ty - hurshy
ok i think i got that sea anemone
the end rhymes with the state that they say is "for lovers"
and then you do a latin pl
missing the 2nd ac 6/24 and the ac 7-8
didn't know there was a state for lovers -- state as in usa?
the 7-8 is what i was just cluing. yes, state as in USA, it was named for Queen Elizabeth I
cause she was unmarried
ty again hurshy
phantom: arctic
ac + a little hub
for the ac 6/24
thanks again
np
there's a funny little scottish participle
ha6, that is
Scotsman dangle their participles under their kilts : D
haha
i saw a tabloid at the store saying Kate Middleton is pregnant with baby #4 - anyone know if that's for real?
that will cause some annoyance in the UK -- there was a suggestion at one time that the royals should limit their families to 2 kids -- fewer of them for the public to support, I guess. Although they certainly have enough money of their own.
i don't think the kids are the real revenue guzzlers... i would think building maintenance is more costly
ag 7 please?
the condition or not knowing
*OF not knowing
thought that was ignorance
well it is. but think of a word for a person who doesn't know if they believe in God and then change the ending
sorry. had to kick laptop into working some more
bottom A?

and you can past tense it, whaddya know
who knew
not i, said the little red hen
cannot find the ending for the one that begins like the unbeliever
it's the same ending as the condition where you have memory loss
same as the ending of the food of the gods
i always think that must be peach nectar :D
And the same ending as the food that the Gods can't remember
ty atalante
orange juice
did you get the az 4, hurshy?
ew, no, orange juice is way too tart!
yes cnan
thanks
peach nectar is too gloopy
i like gloopy
if peach nectar is gloopy
peach nectar is delicious when mixed with enough champagne
which i'm not exactly sure what that is
down to that gr 8 -- italian sounding musical direction that I've never heard of
it ends the way the babbler Trif's name ends
got it
full of gr5 :)

the g8 sounds like you're thanking a spanish bear in italian ;)
Oh Lord, ec7...ec + type of vacuum

i am very confused. gr is an 8?
hoover?
a steroid hormone that controls molting in insects and other arthropods...Sure
oh, well perhaps it's because I am not studying molting insects
ac is an 8. but clues are not making sense to me. i welcome more help
gr8 yes
also ec: when you say type of vacuum do you mean like upright verses other or hoover or a brand?
we're into the esoteric words on this board for sure
think bowling balls mkg
bowling balls for what word?????i dont know what you mean. sorry moo
bowling balls? what are they besides bowling balls??
okay, well they used to advertise them sucking up a bowling ball to prove they really sucked
Or alternatively, it was an english guy who owned the vacuum cleaner company, and he'd pitch it in the ads
huh? still confused.
lets do it word by word:
for the ec7
for the ec 7 what are the clues?

any clues for the gr 8 most welcome. ty
It's an Italian musical term meaning graceful.
italian thank you + end of babbler trif's name
The ga7 is a south African plant genus with showy flowers. Starts with the same 4 letters as the following word, ends like the ac7.
dont recall trifs last name
gandosia
Not her last name..."end of Babbler Trif's name"
sorry not getting the last name. dont remember it.
is there another clue for ending?
off to work.
you can look it up on rankings mkg
Again, it is not her last name. It is the end of her name. Trif is not her name.
no matter molls mkg has gone off to work. I am still working on the south african flower myself
*molls a lemonade"
Ugh *hands molls a lemonade*
champagne is also available if you prefer
ga +5 letters that if you add in another n it becomes another flower
No, I love lemonade on a hot summer day, thanks.
and here I thought I knew my flowers
I think you also need to change a vowel, Atalante
oh good point :)
hahaha
The ga7 isn't one I'd heard of before. If you've got the following ga5 (which is a fabric, but also not a common word), then you're pretty close.
Oh, apparently they're commonly known as either treasure flowers or African daisies.
And done. Tricky grid I thought today. Happy babbling everyone!
