hi min
Hi ru! How are you doing? So nice to see you here today!
i'm fine.. trying to wake up today
Good afternoon, my Babble friends. :)
Hi crosshair! I have not seen you in FOREVER! How are U?
crossy! How wonderful!!!!
Wow!Look who's coming out of the woodwork! Hi Trifioso
I am fine, my friends. We all seem to have a bit of a cold, but my beloved and I are well otherwise. :)
hi! I am only here for a few minutes, darn it!
Hi crossy, Trif
im a late night/weekend babbler these days
I doubt it is needed, but I just posted story in my profile.
Hi bichon! How are you doing today? Welcome to the grid
Howdy, Bichon, Trif, Min. :)
(((((((HELLO!!!!)))))))
((stid)))
on my goodness, what a wonderful gathering!!! it's like old times!
Min, I have missed your stories! :-)
Trifioso, hope you and yours are all well?
Hi stid!Look at all of these babblers coming out today😊
crosshair, how's the frozen north? I saw you have a bit of a cold. :-(
mixed bag. healthy now, (secondo had covid)
ooppppssssss. Sorry about the word, hadn't started yet *sits in PB*
oh no! what a worry that much have been. How is Secondo now?
So sorry to hear Trifioso. I hope Secondo is doing better.
Right now it is rainy and about 4C we have already had a snowfall or three and a week of "Indian summer," but I think we have real winter coming soon
Trifioso, was thinking the same thing;old timers are here
We have similar temps and weather today, cross, but of course no snowfall in our neighborhood (yet) - we're too close to the water.
Sorry to hear about Secondo, Trif! Hope it is not to bad.
*Proudly displays old-timers' silvery crown*
stidmama, old timers are excused from the Penalty Box!
LOL thanks Min -- I am teaching full remote this year. You?
it is funny, I have always had that person flikr photos in my profile, and I have no idea who it is or how to remove the photos!
They use the name "CrossHare" :)
Seems like a nice family though.:)
That is strange. I think Dr G can remove the link for you?
I taught full remote for month of Sept. Now students are doing a hybrid model. Students in track A come Mon, Tue
I am glad you are staying safe, Min.
They are trying to get a hybrid model going at my school, my year-long position is full remote because my doctor advised it; but I worry about my colleagues who weren't willing to ask for medical accommodations. :-(
Students in track B come Thu and Friday. Special Ed. kids in track C come 4 days a week. Students in cohort D are fully remote. Wednesday is full remote for ALL students
I wish I could work remote, but I am an 'essential service" have have been going in every day since day one of COVID. People have to keep eating so in I go. :/
My district denied ALL ADA accommodations and now my Union has a lawsuit against the district for doing that.
Crosshair,I hope they look out for your safety at your job
It's crazy schedule for me because I work in TWO schools
Those hybrid model require a lot of patience the way they are set up. My position isn't so much teaching as mentoring parents who are using an online curriculum (that isn't nearly as user-friendly or full-featured as they led the district and parents to think!). It's been interesting... I have grades K-5 to support, and am learning the standards as I go for the 5 grades I haven't taught under CCSS. Families don't necessarily know what to look for in their kids' work!
I applaud you teachers and all your hard work during these times!
I have to keep track of what days I go to what school and what days my students in BOTH schools are in group A,B, C & D. I am live streaming while teaching kids in person
I am glad your union is "on it" Min - in our state teachers and other workers were told if we have to stay home for covid reasons we have guarantees of getting our jobs back later... but I didn't want to step out completely, and they needed a full-time teacher for the online elementary.
Oh Min, that sounds so difficult. I know you are doing a great job, but ... wow.
I will be glad when they have a vaccine for this covid pandemic.
ZZZZZOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!! *loud roaring applause in the background*
Hello ((Stidmam!)) Very nice to see you here!
Hi zoozzoom! My sentiments exactly.I can't wait til there is a vaccine. However, if there is one before Jan, people in New York will NOT be getting it unfortunately. So sad!
I agree with you -- vaccine, but also WHEN will people learn to just wear masks and NOT have large gatherings? *sigh* The large spikes we are seeing in my region are almost entirely community spread because of poor masks, hygiene, and a refusal to stay distant. The vaccine will help, but it's still a long way off for the U.S. I think.
Also, when there IS a vaccine, not everybody will take it.
true, min - a child went through the local international airport recently while contagious with measles.... *sigh*
I do not know who to blame for NY being excluded,Rump or Gov Cuomo. Unfortunately, EVERYTHING is politicized!
Well hello there everyone, long time no see!
Hi Lindrickway! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid.
Well hi there LIndrickway! :-D
A friend of mine. Her son who was only 32 just died from covid 19. He had problems with his heart went into hospital and got covid. Yes it is a shame that not all will be given the vaccine. I hear a lot about herd immunity being mentioned a lot over here.
lovely to see some familiar 'faces'!
It's Old Timers Day here in Babbleland today Lindrickway.
Oh no, Zoom. That poor young man and his family. My heart breaks every time I learn of those situations.
that quite funny Min as I retired this week! (0:
Does 2009 count, Minveryork? Haha!
hi all
Wow lots of familiar folks here today
Congratulations on your retirement Lindrickway. YAY! 😊
congratulations on retiring Lindrickway! *serves cake and ice cream to celebrate*
ooh *hands plate over for a slice of cake*
Hey there Good Enough! :-)
In my book, any babbler who has been babbing for over a decade is an Old Timer.I 1st entered Babbleland in 2006.
thanks guys, it might have been more fun had everything not been shut! lol
Hi cherlyq and Good Enough! How are U.Welcome to grid
Not sure your plate is big enough for this slice... *serves elephant-sized cake slice* I was just watching an old Great British Baking Show that was cake week... *wonders if buttercream frosting + fondant + meringue + spun sugar on top is too much.... adds a couple candied cherries just in case*
Oh, I missed cherlyq coming in! *waves*
Sounds good enough for me, Stidmama!(No pun intended Good Enough!)
yummy thanks for the cakes!
I think I'll need to make an actual cake sometime today now... my tummy is rumbly!
Haha!
so on the 4th I had a gallbladder attack and went to hospital due to the pain, well what I got from the hospital is covid, today I feel a bit better and happy to have survived it, once it is gone, I still have to have the surgery to have the gallbadder out
a reunion!
Howdy, welki :)
oh cherlyq! what a harrowing experience. I am doubly-glad you are here!!! (((hugs)))
*bounce bounce* WELKI!!!!
ty ty
Hi welki! Welcome to the Babble Old Timers reunion! 😊
Oh I am sorry to hear that, Cherlyq. my parents have gallbladder problems too and the pain is really bad for them so I sympathise with you.
Hello, Welki!
Crossy! Hello! Is your son still eating you out of your home? haha!
hi to all of us old timers! Stidmama, we were watching Great British Baking Show last night too.
cherlyq wishing you a speedy recover & GL with surgery.
Howdy, Zooz! yes he is:/
Hope Elegant is doing well? Say hi from me please!
Hi ch1212! How are you doing today?Welcome to the grid
(((ch!!))) So good to see you! Our governor is giving a televised update on changes today at 11... I am hoping he'll have solid advice -- he usually does -- for the counties that are experiencing big spikes like mine.
She is right here, and says hello to all her Babble friends. :)
What a wonderful group of babblers on at the moment!
thanks so much yeah it sounds funny but I really am so tired of being sick I am looking forward to surgery
oh! That's ne4 you-all may not know... the stidkids have flown the coop!!! BOTH are now living on their own! :-D *proud mama look* Tom and I are officially "empty nesters!"
Thanks, minver - haven't seen you in ages! Stid, my husband works at a library, and we're expecting Inslee to close those again.
Are you pleased with the way your governor has handled Covid-19 stidmama. I am not sure what to think of mine.
Oh how lovely Stid!
Oh, just got my first 6-letter word!
Hi Cherlyq, glad you’re recovering from Covid. I’ve had my gall bladder out and am so much better now it gone. Stay safe and hope you don’t need to wait too long
Mine was Sm6
Hi JaxH66!How are you doing today? Welcome to the grid
Min, I am mostly pleased. I wish there had been a mechanism set in place to "roll back" the county-by-county openings. Where I teach they made it to "stage 3" and then decided they didn't need to practice the masks and distancing. At this point they would be back at stage 1 (and the same for my home county)
They say my parents are to frail to have thiers out :-(
Up here, our COVID numbers are heading in the wrong direction. I can easily seeing us shutting down all but essential services once again by Christmas.
hey there Jax - is that a fancy type of cow in your avatar?
Stid, my exciting ne4 is that I am moving house after Christmas, moving house & area. Going kind of back home having gone full circle!
Hi all, doing well thanks.
Back home... yorkshire?
Out problem is that we are a tourist area, so all those in stage two come up here every weekend for meals out and haircuts. it is what is killing our numbers.
Oh I had forgotten how fast the chog can move, sorry if I miss anyone! lol
Yes Yorkshire, but a different town!
It’s a small iron highland cow made in Scotland. It was my husbands 30th wedding anniversary present to me. His name is Hamish
Yes, cross -- tourism as the main "industry" is not a good thing in a pandemic. The county I work in that's a major income for a lot of people. :-(
What fun, Lindrickway! Will you be close to family, at least?
About an hour away instead of 4
A slower pace is Yorkshire compared to London. Hope the move goes smoothly for you, Lindrickway!
:-) I like that cow! What a fun present.
so you'll be pudding down roots there lindy?
thanks zoom x
Ruru!!
Would you look at that, Jaxx haha!
The group of babblers here is UDDERLY amazing!I love it!
:)
congrats on retiring lindy
An hour is just about the right distance, I think. We're only fifteen minutes from my mother's home, which means "no excuses" LOL Our younger son is about an hour away, so he can always claim the length of the drive if he needs to beg off (his place has stairs so I cannot go visit them(.
LOL Min!
thanks ruru
I'm looking forward to that someday soon too
oh ruru... *giggling at joke I just understood*
Soon?
Howdy, Crossy and Elegant!!
was that to me zooz?
I cannot seem to MOOve from my chair to do chores that need to be done today. I am MILKing this babble moment for all that it is worth!
2 of my children are in Canada so can't get home for a visit! )0:
