an7/8 combo - not modern
Thank you - got it!
im still not getting that rh9 lol
Yeah, I needed morewords for it - not a word with which I am familiar
is that the clue? More words?
I'm struggling even to clue it
No - I used morewords.com - I cheated
The definition is either of two South American shrubs belonging to the genus Krameria,
ty, matty
The best clue I can come up with is r + what you wear on your head + many comp_____ have logos to identify themselves. Eh.
eventually found rh. I was focusing on the wrong rh
finally got it lol thank you all
good clue Molly
Thanks Molly
Of all the ridiculous words included in the Enable list, that is in the top ten. Nan and SMom are going to have apoplexy. : D
Well, at least you did a break down clue for Nan. You know how she is about just definitions of the words...
Definition clues are fine with me. I don't mind doing a Google search on them, and I learn what the word means.
I'm having apoplexy over 24 qu words...
I've only found 15 of those Qs and am not sure if I even care about the rest (right now, anyway)
*Puts chamomile tea in the PB

Molly gave a break down clue at 5:58
Oh, sorry, that was the 9
that was for the rh9, wasn't it Bea?
:-)
yes
well, now I know 2/3 of my missing R's from the bottom
sorry hokie, another
but will I find them :D. missing 3 R's from top. obviously those are re's.
thx, pcal
yw
pcal, the ra that relates to a fabric?
carla....the ra 9 comes from the ra 5 that is a version of the wicker furniture word...
There is a re7/28 from there. It is odd
clue for either sh7?
thx, pen. that's the only other ra5 I have, so was going to try that.
like pen says
oh, thanks pen, that answers my question to pcal :)
sh 7 is a crude hut or house....
yes, thanks pcal :)
got the ra8 and the sh7, thx to all
sh7x3
yikes
just noticed that the rh 9 is almost identical to the ra 8....
only have one sh 7 right now...
bea, if you had to guess my missing A from the bottom, what would you guess
thx, pen, got the rh9
and I still want haint to be a word
That is a hard one. Not sure anymore which A's come from where.
I've got ar4. as4 and at4 from the bottom a. Missing one too
I have ar4 and as4 form there

I dont see a clue for ra 9. Did i miss it?
I have the furniture but not the 9
It is rh9
look for the clue for the ra 8 and add your h....
thanks, bea
build on the wicker furniture word...
Oooh. I though ti was from the ra. Ok. So still need a clue. How does it come from the ra then? Confused.
it is from the ra....
You add an H
That will give you the rh9
Bea, could you clue that an6, please?
Ok. So i have only the ra 5. Dont have the others. Sorry
make the ra5 plural like maybe a kid would do
An + Astronaut Armstrong
I got it. Ty. Perfect clue carla. Ty. Got the 8 and 9.
yw
Sorry biltong...Miss spell that name
Got an 6. Great clue.
or an alternate spelling...
yep, thanks Bea, I found it :)
Too much going on here this morning.
yep...
Great cluing going on bea.
Ty to all cluers.
Stuck on the i words. Stats welcome first. Ty.
I only have in6/18
and that was just something I found inside me
in 5/10....
in6/18 is all I have
Well not seeing them. Sorry. Clues welcome. Ty.
well, my 9:06 was a clue
Oops got the 8! Ty.
def not finding the right combo of letters for the in5

thanks bea and pen
yw...

well done, hokie. I still have 70 to go
ok, I know I still have 2xsh7 to find, and I can work on 6x4's

Well, I'm going to go do something with the rest of my day. Having hamburger balls for dinner tonight.
ooh, sounds good
Sounds good,bea. Enjoy!
Have you ever made Pioneer Woman's Comfort meatballs?
i"ve heard of comfort balls but not meatballs :D
They are scrumptious.
no, I will check them out. assuming they have breadcrumbs I will have to subsitute?
She serves hers with mashed potatoes but we like ours with noodles.
24 Q words! Do I know that many?
her website requires a sub now?
i don't... ;o)
I only know 12, scrabbs
I googled that. Will definitely try them, thanks.
It uses quick oats as the binder, Carla. But you do have to roll them in flour before browning them.
I just googled the recipe, Carla. It is on Food network.
went to pinterest to see if I could find a link on there
will check out food network, thanks
See you all toorrow.
bye bea!
bye, bea...
Bye bea
Bye, Bea.
I'm off too. Thanks for all the great clues. Bye
just realized I still don't have those aq words bea was talking about earlier.
Bye, Biltong.
bye biltong!
i am missing one Q word....need a break...bbl to find the last 27....
wow, well done
bye all...
Bye penquis. Congrats, carla.
oh, I haven't done anything, but thanks
Hello
hi, La Jo
before i leave....someone at the flip said that there are 6 Qu 7 words that start in the same way....
Welcome, La Jo.
hope that proves motivating... ;o)
wow, I have 1 qu7 - 5 more?
Thanks, all
there's 1
q's are done for me now
wow, good job
Wow, Ruru, I am up to 12.
I have made it to 16 but still have 2 more qu7 per pen's clue
and that is 16 qu, 8 remaining. still have 27 total words left.
I have 16 q's now
up to 19 here
if my missing 2 qu7s are part of 6/7 combos, that is 4
i have 4 of them also, one of mine is not in a combo, and i only need 3 more q
and one is in a combo but it is 7/8
*looking*
I feel like I've tried every possible combination of letters with that dratted QU. Clearly I haven't, given I still have 8 to find....
Here comes the list
Good for you, matty.
Qs finally quashed with the help of the list. Phew.
Good work.
erne
Free clue.
what is everyone's favorite sea bird?
(i'm playing it like jeopardy)
I'm a fan of puffins myself. ;)
Puffins are adorable.
puffins are very cute
Penguins are mine
Also very cute.
I like puffins and penguins
i wonder how weird it would be if you went on jeopardy and you actually asked the questions as if you were asking the question, instead of the sort of weird way they say it
4th row gray!
like imagine the emphasis if you were saying "what is a puffin?" as an actual question vs as a jeopardy response, it's quite different
just a's now for me
Yes, I think of that too, hurshy.
what is the 9?
missing an a 7
got it.
:D
I need help with the i. Obvious?
i only have the valued old thing and i suppose it is not that or you would miss 7 and 8 both
one of the i is something you're born with
(an adj that describes it i mean)
Aha. I already had en5.
My monkeys are working overtime
hope you're paying them extra then
Plenty of peanuts!
Extra fruit for them.
what does the 9 start with?
RH, would you believe? It's a type of shrub, apparently
oh dear
SCRABS! I'm so glad you are hear! I had the sweetest dream last night! I had like 14 little bunnies in my care and I was trying to decide which one to keep! They were all so cute!
thank goodness for morewords
Good day everyone!
same to you car
an8 and qu8, what is the other 8?
ra8
mk thanks :)
pretty much the rh9
see if you had gotten the ra8 first, you wouldn't have needed morewords for hte 9
ah, ha! that makes sense
18 left, and 8 of them are 7s, lol
23 left here - 3x4, 3x5, 4x6, 12x7, 1x8. guess I should work on an8.
is it against something?
it is a normal word (plural, combo with 7)
I am against A words, I'll tell you that
no, no prefix
duh
Can I have a wee nudgette on the re7, please?
that is the set bea was telling me about earlier
I still need 3 RE, so that must be one. sorry I can't help.
I knew someone named Renita back home. not a word, JIC you were wondering.
65 left for later. Good luck finishing, everyone.
bye,scrabs!
and if you're raising in poker, isn't that a re6?
no, because the an4 is just the part you pay to play in that hand
the rest of the raises are not
the re7 is the only re that i need so it is not in a combo
they are the raise, I get it! just complaining about enable like we like to do every day
have a guess for my missing R on the bottom?
i am missing one there also :(
or my bottom row H?
he4/6 that is a plural perhaps?
well, it was that, but I entered that earlier. :<
have you finished P? (tee hee)
no, need one of them
same
how about the N? I need one
re7... the end part makes me think of nose stuff
2 na, both babblets... 3 ne and 3 ni
of course, the other ni spelling
re7 ending is like an enzyme, too, maybe that is what it is
yes, it is an enzyme!
18 - P AAA RRR Qx5 TTT SSS - 2x4, 2x5, 4x6, 10x7
thx for the R
don't you just love it when you can figure things out even though you didn't know them?
I don't like having 10 7s left
yes, hurshy, it's like light bulb! if you do reddit, you should check out the etymology sub. some interesting things.
mk cool
managed another q
i went to the list at 16 left
oh yeah, just remembered 2 of my 7s are SH, and I think I have at least one more q7
NTPN! captain kirk
james tiberius...
oh shatner
ding ding ding
but not the sh7s I was looking for
i was like "james and tiberius are not in the grid!! what??"
not the droids you're looking for either
wrong star franchise!
I believe I will have to list too. still 17 left.
well i like both franchises, sorry
started at the bottom - baffled by my 3 missing Ts.
a tapeworm babblet that uses lots of vowels, and has both latin and english plural
equally baffled by those sh7s
sh7/40 is an odd spelling of a small shack or a sailor song
thanks dan, tapeworm didn't help, but lots of vowels stirred something in my memory
that's the only one I have, hurshy!
I wonder if there are Scotch tapeworms?
ah, there's the first one I should have gotten
the other two remind me of a wheat based food, but with sh instead of just s
they are almost identical
sa5 is what I'm referring to
hmm, so many wheat based foods I'm having trouble narrowing it down
doh, there's 2 R's I should have gotten
and my last one on the bottom was a 4 babblet. duh.
se7 redwood relative
I have that, mine are both sh7
oh sorry
np
I will just look them up if I need to after going through the whole list.
maybe a silent redwood hokie :D
shhh
an 7/28, first one, pls
an + the n babblet that looks like a plural man's name
just looked up the first sh7 - funny how the def includes the word that isn't on enable
and now sure how that is a wheat based food LOL
not
ok, I am done. moving on with my day. now that it's noon.
ty carla
i found a 6 with that clue
stats for the 3rd column top e pls?
e4/4
e what?
got it
that would totally give it away. It's common in Babble
jax how about the h in the same column
i found a word for that e ty:)
ha5/14 i think
ea4/5
ha 4:0 found it ty anyway
nbt/nbs
l
hi bichon
I'd actually given you the clue for the lone e in the top row
hi mlf
now looking for the e that i didn't have!
which one?
e4/4
i have 8 e words to find
snap
and just by looking at the grid not many ideas lol
I'm gradually picking words off. 55 to go
lucky you
LO 6/24 clue pls?
I did start just after the flip this morning and have just come back for another go while my husband is watching sport
good morning everyone :-)
good morning cyber
jax i started about two hrs ago took a break and then came back
stuck on the last sh 7/32 ??
just read the chat -- don't have any sh 7's -- was that wheat based clue for an sh 7? Only thing I can think of is bread
i dont have any sh 7 letter words.. i oly have two sh words
i will be back...
oh found the devil, but nothing wheat based
and the alt. sp for that
never mind... monkeyed it
is the 2nd po7 also ballet-related?
never mind, peri'ed it
I thought so, but can't find it
it's apparently horse armor?
ends in the top right corner
so my missing pis a 7 that means horse armor -- the likelyhood of me finding that is about nil :)
so my missing pis a 7 that means horse armor -- the likelyhood of me finding that is about nil :)
points in the po 7 horse gear please?
nm - monkeyed it
ty for the clue dan
just looking for that one too, nan
any of you clever people know what my missing l is?
I really wish I could have a balcony in the sun -- colder than you know what today
I'm missing one L. I have le4, le5,le4,lo4 and lo6
lo4
Can't get the horse armor
another le 4
so, 2xlo4, Jax?
I have all the right hand ones -- missing one from the left corner
yes
yes - there are two lo 4
ty :)
lo 4,5,6,4
sorry lo 4,6,5,4
is there an la?
no la, nan
i have lo 4,4,6 and missing 2
so I'm missing an lo then
and i'm missing alo5,4
there is an lo 5
I have le4, le5,le4,lo4 and lo6. Missing lo4
LO 4,6,5,4,6
lo5
maybe lo627, nan?
6/27, that is
Thanks, got all of the l's now
yes! - looking now
yay, me too :)
need a clue, nan? I have to leave soon
hope you search proves fruitful
plaa
whoops sorry
Ha ha mool :)
:)
no so far mool -- can't think of a fruit that fits the bill
at least you got the clue :)
certainly nothing we grow around here
sorry, have to go
I'm going to need another -- only one I can think of is a lemon
I had them in NZ, but they're more a sub tropical fruit
i'd not heard that beginning on a fruit, but had heard of the ending on a fruit
we had them in Miami
yes, was going to say there is a c fruit
then definitely something I have never seen
k fruit that has the same ending
cherries?
doh
More citrus.
spelling of weird fruits is not my forte
oh come come come, it's not like it's that difficult :)
lemons, limes, grapefruit, oranges - don't know any others that I would call citrus
anyway, you're more of an obscure armor specialist
the l fruit is not citrus
the k fruit which has the same ending as the l fruit is citrus, and you eat the skin and all
the l fruit is an unknown - there must be a clue other than a definition
has the high point tile in it
not a kiwi then
there is an adj that might be used to describe me that looks like a derivative, though it's not
There is a clue in the chat that gives the species name if you want to go looking
ah, found the nine
well, that's certainly impressive
this grid is very plant heavy
giving up on that stupid fruit --- have no idea - tried every combo with the q tha I could come up with
stats for the 9 please?
rh9
nan there's a clue at about 8.30 in the chat
20 to go
only made it to 17 today. used quite a few clues and even had to look up some.
japonica? didn't know their was another name for that
Japonica is species that originate in SIA.
rh9 is Krameria
Asia
anyway - going to list now --- I think I've found all the english words
15 to go, finished my 8s
what the hek is krameria?
south african shrub, what is japonica?
Lo6 is English
how many plants in today's grid, bea?
several
if you live in Miami or New Zealand and eat strange fruit, apparently
I think they're delicious :)
oh, the lo6 is japonica
I'm gone again. Just got on my computer to look for something on Amazon. Not sure that is English either. <evil grin>
bye bea. I am finished with lunch so I guess I'll get back to work too.
just need a moo update...
an 7 please?
still 15... 4x4, 2x5, 4x6 and 5x7 to go
very old
-- not the old things - have those
yes, collectibly old
an + the babblet that looks like plural man's name that has no singular
oh, the spears
I've not got it
it's an anagram of a queen of russia and also anagram of hand made
something to do with the pope per the dictionary
apparently poison tipped arrow, not spear :0
the britneys moo?
never mind then
btw, we are clueing 2 different an7's, nan
ok - found the one with the man's name
looking for the against one now
found - ty
monkeyed the lo 6 finally - have never heard of it before -- will have to see if I can find a picture later
yeah, in nz we pronounce the last syllable "kit"
10 to go here
do you now get the k word with the same ending?
yes, carla - but just something I've heard of - not anything I've ever eaten or seen in our markets
aren't they some kind of berry?
very small citrus fruit
they kind of look like berries, and you eat the whole thing...but citrus
I guess they don't store or travel well -- otherwise you'd think they would be available here
Not sure they have wide appeal
are you talking about the ku or the lo, now?
Have seen them here in Colorado occasionally
the ku
the lo don't travel well
Actually, they may travel well, but not sure there is much commercial cultivation
I will have to look for the lo, the next time we go to CA --- that is if we are ever allowed to travel again!
still 8 to go
the lo is new to me too
let's see the stats, moo
You see them in Italy too, where they a re called nespole. They are about the size of a small apricot and have three round black seeds inside. I think they are mainly eaten by those with a tree in their yard, since they are too soft to travel well. They make good jam, though.
12 here and have just found that there is yet another sh 7 --- sh 7/40 this time
yeah, I've only had them off the tree
that one is fairly easy, nan, it was the other 2 I had to look up
I have 2 sh7 that are spelled almost the same
yeah, those are the 2 I had to look up
ooh - I would much rather travel to Italy to taste them, but I don't think that is ever going to happen again
For whatever reason, I can't scroll my word list down :)
nan, have you heard of pawpaws? we have talked about them here before.
Not that I remember, carla
lot of odd fruit in Miami
I want to try that. I planted 3 trees last year but they are tiny
closest I have ever been to Miami was the Kennedy Space Centre and that was with 3 little kids in tow.
they are native to NA and don't travel well, which is why they never made it to market. supposedly tastes like a mix between a mango and banana.
I've driven past the space coast many times, never went to the Kennedy Space Center though
we flew to Miami once to drive to the Keys
is the sh 7/40 similar to the 7/32's?
and spent some time in Hollywood, FL
nope
no, but it's a homophone for a sh6
the dictionary link tells you it's a variation of another word which when you click that link says it is a variation of the way I'm familiar with the word
never seen it spelled ch, so not sure why it directs you to that one first
It was amazing, mool --- mind you, it has probably changed since we were there in 1978
yeah, it's an iconic place...my MIL lives in St Augustine, about 2 hours or so north of there
oh - we were in St. Augustine -- huge spanish fort and Ripley's?
St. Aug is nice
yep
we drove by the fort a couple of years ago and couldn't find parking so then left
yeah, it's kind of awkward getting parking there
but we accidentally discovered the fountain of youth on our way to the fort and stopped there and then decided we didn't want to spend that much on tickets to go look at a well
you should tell Ponce de Leon next time you see him :)
6 to go
yeah, he should be still alive and young
5 to go
a clue for the sh 7/40 please?
4x7 and a 6
an old run down building
and T's moo?
isn't that an sh 6?
*any
nan, that's where the whole spelling variation thing comes in to play
oh - I see - another alt. sp
ty carla
A,A,P,R and S
found the r
r7?
yeah
I had to look up that P
no def
enzyme of some sort is my guess
yep, found in stomachs
you're talking about the R?
yeah
found the 6
3 to go...all 7s...A,P,S
anyone want to try a breakdown clue for that rh 7, or should I just forget it?
if you have ra8, it is almost identical
if you meant rh9, since there isn't an rh7
rh9....sounds as if you made word for wicker into an adjective, then made it plural...then added a letter :)
ty mool - similar to the ra 8 :)
yeah..if you have that one :D
wow, if only someone had suggested that ;)
*!*~*!* not a friendly grid today. Off to find a picture of lo 7, then to make brunch. Hagd everyone and stay safe :-)
I know, would have been so much easier
fairly friendly I thought. plant heavy like I said. (hint hint)
*lo6
and I just googled the one I said doesn't have a def and it made me LOL, but if I tell you why, it'll probably give it away
and I clued the one while you were clueing another but you must've been magically ignoring like you can, moo
no, I saw it :)
the popery one
oh, I'm assuming that's your a7 since you mentioned the other 2
yeah
and the P7 is the funny one to me, and the S7 you should get, it's a regular word (in my book at least)
ah, the equal shortest word with all the vowels
aniolae
you lost me there

hello friends
Heya Trifs
torgone!!! Hello dear friend. How delightful
How are you?
have three brain cells left - end of semester, have been grading all day. Three essays to go, but they will have to wait for tomorrow. Storm blowing in tomorrow, hoping it won't amount to much. You?

see you TO.
hit it all you want, the clues you give are fantastic!
*giggle* next?
I have managed nbt, so just pecking away....
really not in the head space today
i got lucky with those clues. just up after returning to bed. another bad night i had. *sigh*
oh i am sorry to hear. not sleeping is the worst
at least i have the time to allow for naps during the day most days. i'm just in a vicious sleep cycle at the moment. if i try and stay up i become over-tired which is just as bad.
agreed. have you tried the usual - melatonin, benadryl, etc?
melatonin yes. benedryl no because of hypertension.
sigh. sleep is so important. I cannot remember the last time I slept through the night, but mine is 100% due to sister mary menopause.
i could take a valium and emdone but i try to save them for a "that's it. i can't take it any more" day/night.
I send you all good wishes and sleepy vibes for tonight, then
thanx trif. not just yet though if you please. time for church and the the congergation has a meeting with our bishop. our vicar is retiring and we have to voce how we see our next vicar.
oh wow - those meetings are always interesting. we had to have our yearly one via google, of course....ugh
oh dear heaven !! *congregation* *voice*
we just had our AGM. very late, but cv-19 stopped us from meeting at the right time.
lol, I understood you!
and as most of our congregation are 80+, no computers or tablet devices owned.
we were in shut down still, so no choice
my church has yet to resume live services, actually - we are far behind you all
we are only allowed 20 inside. so the vicar is holding multiple services through the day which is nice as far as i'm concerned. i can have my morning nap and church too.
oh that is nice.
and we are allowed to sing, with masks in situ.
very cool!
trif honey. i got to go. lunch coming and then this lazy bag of bones goes into the shower. enjoy the rest of you day/evening. see you after the flip. xx
that's okay, I am going too. Giving up on this mean ol grid. Have a wonderful day, dear granny rose

Congratulations Uneaixoise on your freworks! Good for U
Can I please have a clue for the first an7/20 word please
H's Handled! 8 left
an7/28 womans name + past tense of eat and plural letter
A's Administered! 6 left
Thank you ursh. How about the third qu6/27 word please
same as first qu6 diff cons ending
actually plural
I just changed first qu6/27 word with every consonant at the end and nothing worked. Am I changing cross letter at the end of first qu6/27 to a different consonant ursh
they all build off the qu5/16 which with an s would be cross eyed - add a vowel to qu5 then add difference cons to that word
*different consonants
Thank U ursh. I just don't have the patience for this right now. I am giving up with four words left. Been doing this off and on all day today. Thanks again ursh.Appreciate it
cutting it fine fireworks here
Min did you find your missing 4 words ?
