Clues are up

12:19 am

thanks, Lickety6

12:19 am

Thanks Lickety.

12:20 am

I've emailed Lickety to let him know that USA daylight saving starts tomorrow, so hopefully the clues will be at the right time.

12:20 am

thanks, Lizlin!

12:24 am

cl 8 been called? That's me, so I'm off t bed

12:25 am

Good night, nan

12:26 am

HY 7,8

12:28 am

I've always thought it's kind of a shame when the clues come out so soon after flip, because to me it's part of the fun to work together to figure the words out as a group, and to have an hour or two on our own, at least, to do so. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there IS a list, not complaining about that. But so many get nervous if it's not out within an hour, and I don't know why.

12:29 am

But that's just my thoughts, and I don't want to push them on anyone.

12:29 am

I generally don't look at the list until it's daylight here. ;-) But I also only rarely solve the grid.

12:30 am

I don't look at the list until the next moring.

12:30 am

rbud, just curious, where in IL are you? I used to live in Rock Island, and also Champaign.

12:31 am

nbt, nbs --- good night :D

12:31 am

I just check that the numbers on Lickety's list are correct but don't use it this early.

12:31 am

Oh, I don't look, either, until I"m well over half with NBT/NBS at least, or totally out of steam, but as soon as it goes up, the fun of searching for the longer ones, fpr example, or the lone ones is shot for me.

12:31 am

nite nan

12:31 am

I don’t look until I have two-thirds of the words.

12:31 am

I don't look until I have fewer than four left per tile

12:32 am

haha we all have our own set of rules

12:32 am

*for example (and I live about 40 miles north of Peoria up the river.) :)

12:32 am

"up the river' ;-)

12:32 am

One of the things I love about babble, is that everyone has their own rules for when to list and whether or not to use dictionary or word list and whatever you choose is fine.

12:33 am

well, I could have waved from the road/

12:33 am

(so not far from the Quad Cites, really)

12:33 am

I love babble, mainly for the support and the banter

12:33 am

where's ruru these days?

12:33 am

I guess I'm saying I don't mind if Lickety's not right on time, it's more fun for me that way. :D

12:34 am

If Lickety doesn't alter his programme to reflect the time changes, both is Australia and the USA, the system often glitches.

12:35 am

hahaha, jbp, were you out there on Hwy 29?

12:35 am

I was here and there when I lived out in the midwest. lots of cool stuff in a ton of small towns

12:36 am

the new grid comes up for me at 8am - I often leave words to do in the morning (early riser) will have to watch it now as the grid will swing at 7am

12:37 am

nbt, nbs and under 100 --hope to see y'all in the AM

6:11 am

l

The CL 8-50 might be my new favorite Babble word

Can you give us a nudge, please?

7:34 am

If you need a nudge, then you are cl8

7:34 am

Great movie!

Us without lickety

Oh, I really am. Thanks!

sure you weren't in that Movie? (just kidding)

LOL. I can confidently assert that I wasn't ;)

7:49 am

It's the blonde thing Matty

That must be it. It's all down to my hair colour :)

Its officially my favorite Babble word now

7:53 am

I have been in the construction business too long. I actually tried pulte.

7:53 am

that first S is JUICY!

Given that Jeff (my OH) is currently strumming his...bazooki, I think, it seems appropriate that I just found the pl7. Its singular is one of my favourite words

8:16 am

People who don't know what a bazooki is will think Jeff is strumming his anti-tank rocket launcher : D

And maybe he is. It's a mystery!

8:17 am

Or doing something personal

8:18 am

from the monty python cheese shop sketch

8:18 am

there's a bazooki player in the background

8:21 am

70 to go! bbl - have a fun day all

8:24 am

8:25 am

Is it just me, or are the P's evasive this morning?

8:26 am

8:26 am

There were some odd ones in there.

8:26 am

I'm down to 42, and of those 14 are P's. Feeing blind!

8:26 am

Well that makes me feel a bit better Bea!

8:29 am

i just got two more

8:40 am

I always wonder what it is that makes a "favorite" word. How it sounds? What it means? The rarity of it?

Molly, I like words that elicit funny comments

9:12 am

great... after reading thru the chog, i will now have the music from that Python sketch on an endless loop in my brain today

9:13 am

glad we could be of help lol

9:14 am

Hm, well, I found sp6 and 7 = blood organ in abdomen.

9:19 am

Done. Last word tr8. Have never seen it before. Clues before I go?

9:19 am

Clue for tr8, please?

9:20 am

sp8 please

9:20 am

sp8 is ghosts

9:21 am

It's a plural. There are 2 similar roots...change out the last vowel.

9:21 am

ty both

9:21 am

TY

9:22 am

The tr8 is a Scotch word.

9:22 am

No definition given.

9:22 am

tr8 is a monotonous task

9:23 am

I'm cl8 as to how to clue it. Will leave that to the experts! Hagd all!

9:24 am

Thanks for cl8.

9:26 am

tr + mom's sister is an **nt + small laugh is a **uck**

9:26 am

'morning, all

9:26 am

Good morning everyone! Happy Sunday!

9:27 am

Hard to cl4

9:27 am

ty for tr8

9:27 am

Hi welki. Do you move your clocks ahead up there?

9:27 am

Hi Eeyore!

9:27 am

yes - always a movement this time of year to get rid of the time change

9:27 am

Hello Scrabs! I've been dreaming of bunnies!

9:28 am

How are you? Is work still hellish?

9:28 am

But Easter is a sad time for bunnies. So many rabbits die or are discarded.

9:29 am

good morning :)

9:29 am

Work is work. Teachers and teens need to be vaccinated ASAP. The kids are not alright.

9:29 am

i made a strawberry lassi for breakfast

9:29 am

Hi Seain.

9:29 am

hello, scrabbs :)

9:29 am

I know. Maybe that is why. In my dreams I have a bunny that has had babies, but they are all different...event different breeds. They are all so cute and sweet! It may have to do with the 7 dozen easter bunny cookies I am decorating, but I think it has another meaning.

9:29 am

Hi Seain!

9:29 am

i would like one, seain - do you deliver?

9:30 am

i have plenty!

9:30 am

hello, eeyore and welki :)

9:30 am

I hear you on the vaccines. Our state just bumped up teachers on the list. I think they should have done them right after the health care workers, but that is just me. They certainly would have been able to open up schools sooner if they did.

9:31 am

Yes, please Seain! Actually, I have to confess, I just had a piece of pineapple upside down cake for brekkies.

9:31 am

Some teens are thriving with virtual learning, but most need to be in person and with their friends.

9:31 am

here in Virginia, currently all 16 and up are eligible.

9:31 am

oh, yum!

9:31 am

Wow, Seain! That is great!

9:32 am

In another 1-2 months there will be an abundance of vaccines and I think anyone 16+ can be vaccinated. Moderna has the 16+ vaccine.

9:32 am

my friends in Maryland are very frustrated as more and more of us get vaccinated over here.

9:33 am

eligible, but in VA a long gap between registration and appointment for under 65's without risk factors

9:33 am

Of course, the day after the vaccine announcement, our School Committee sends out the message that the MCAS state testing will go ahead as scheduled. I am appalled. These kids are not ready by any means to take that ridiculous test.

9:33 am

i was able to sign up last week, directly with a facility.

9:33 am

The registration here is a crap shoot as well, DAn.

9:33 am

Can you opt-out, Eeyore?

9:34 am

the high-stakes testing is idiotic at best.

9:34 am

Nope. Has to be on the kids transcripts for them to graduate.

9:34 am

I'm trying to get an appt for vaccine. It will be a test of will and patience.

I need help with the lone I and the lone E in the second column. Anyone out there with cl4s for me, or stats?

9:34 am

Word.

9:34 am

lone I if you have one you scratch

9:34 am

el4

9:35 am

Kids are all "behind" so current aptitude is relative.

Thanks DC

9:35 am

the lone L has 2 LE 4/4's that I have found so far.

9:35 am

the i needs scratched

9:35 am

Lone i is it4.6

Ah. Thanks for both DC and Bea

9:36 am

p

9:37 am

Good grief....lone L and I gave 2 words. Read the fine print, Eeyore! Sorry

9:37 am

LOL all good eeyore :)

9:37 am

capital I and lowercase l look alike

9:38 am

oh, the font i have in my browser has a small, curved serif on the lowercase l to differentiate it. Nice

9:40 am

agreed, scrabbs, that most kids are very behind compared to past years.

9:42 am

But being "behind" academically is relative. We need to focus on emotional health.

9:42 am

also agreed

9:42 am

Amen

9:43 am

this event, hopefully, will be useful for building resiliency among the current youngsters.

9:43 am

not worth adding the stress of being "behind" when everyone is

9:43 am

Amen Dan!

9:43 am

For parents and teachers too. Focus on resilience rather than "Oh, no, we're so far behind."

9:43 am

true that, dan

9:44 am

I had my first vaccination yesterday and was charmed that the young man taking down my details was an 18 year old volunteer from a local school, doing his bit but looking forward to getting back to normality.

9:45 am

Yay, Haz!

9:45 am

how wonderful, Haz

9:45 am

That is excellent, Haz!

well hello babblers

9:45 am

found out a friend's teen daughter is participating in the Moderna trial for 12 and ups

9:45 am

I wanted to hug him, but couldn't.

9:45 am

Hi Owl

9:45 am

There are several "kid" groups who have done work locally for the "causee". It makes them feel useful.

9:45 am

hello, TO!

9:45 am

Hi TO!

9:46 am

that's excitingdan

9:46 am

Hello, TO.

9:46 am

I wish the vaccine trials would include all children rather than working down in 3-year groups.

i am singing up for clinic work...second dose this Wednesday.

hi haz!

9:46 am

Who want avocado toast?

9:47 am

oh, that would be nice, Scrabbs, thank you.

9:47 am

Me!...But my son just told me our dog was "sick" in the upstairs bathroom, so I must go address that. Have a great day everyone! Love and health to you all.

9:47 am

I will make a batch.

bye, car.

9:48 am

ciao, eeyore

9:51 am

9:57 am

Bye, TO, I will be in touch.

9:58 am

there definitely should be an li 10 --- we all work hard to keep our yards that way!

10:17 am

laughing at self.. had to look up the def. of the def. for tr8, my last word. Turns out it is a verb and means "to make wet and dirty". So, playing in the mud is to tr8. Have a lovely Sunday everyone.. time changed and its time I get some work done. Ciao!

10:18 am

and here I thought playing in the mud is what potters do

10:21 am

11:50 am

missing a pl 7/36 here - any clues please?

11:51 am

rhymes with carmen el______

11:52 am

no idea who carmen is, hurshy - sorry

11:52 am

hehe. I will fall over if nan knows who that is.

11:52 am

and thanks

11:53 am

you two do realize that I am the same generation as your mothers?

11:53 am

you know the utility that provides power, end that with a vowel, and that is carmen's last name.

11:54 am

or just start typing carmen el into google and you should see the name

11:54 am

i really know nothing about her myself, other than i've heard the name

11:54 am

yep -- BC hydro, but somehow, I don't think that is it!

11:54 am

yes, that's why I knew you would know it!

11:55 am

did your kids watch a show like sesame street but called the el* company?

11:55 am

no, but I know the show you mean

11:56 am

i wasn't allowed to watch that one, dunno why

11:56 am

got it - ty carla

11:56 am

I liked it better than sesame street

11:56 am

and I think morgan freeman was on it!

11:57 am

i was past sesame street by the time i remember being aware that E.C. existed and that i wasn't allowed to watch it. watching 3-2-1 contact at that point

11:57 am

that is really odd, hurshy, it is a kid's show.

11:57 am

3 2 1 contact, is the reason

11:58 am

may have just been arbitrary to limit TV time as a whole, idk

11:58 am

and you are younger than me and I watched it before starting kindergarten, so it was around

11:58 am

not sure that we got the show when our kids were pre-schoolers 1969-1975?

11:58 am

And 3-2-1 Contact, Villa Alegre, Reading Rainbow...

11:58 am

but my absolute favorite was and is Square One :)

11:58 am

Oh, i forgotten about that one.

11:59 am

I rem. reading rainbow but not the others

11:59 am

i have signed multiple petitions requesting that it be put on DVD and released for purchase

12:00 pm

does anyone have tr8? i'm mystified

12:00 pm

I watched a lot of You Can't Do That on Television! when I was older. that's canadian.

12:00 pm

I have managed to find 4 8's but not that one.

12:00 pm

never watched that one, carla

12:01 pm

ok i figured it out

12:01 pm

12:02 pm

tr 7 is similar in sound to another word for molasses

12:02 pm

12:02 pm

12:02 pm

12:04 pm

thanks. just tried to make it pl and pt not realizing it was already 8 letters. LOL

12:06 pm

gotta go. BBL for 53.

12:12 pm

12:17 pm

Oh, no, nan. I hope you are OK.

12:19 pm

just a lot of scrapes and bruises. My own stupidity -- didn't realize the hatch to the crawl space was open and fell through it while trying to find something in the laundry room cupboards. It is a 7 foot drop and I sort of bounced along the ladder and off a heating duct on the way down.

12:19 pm

Lucky I didn't break anything

4:23 pm

How long does it generally take you to solve one, if I may ask?

4:23 pm

Believe me, I use clues!! :-)

4:23 pm

Still very impressive!

4:24 pm

I could never do it without clues!!

You’re saying you’re not cl8 ;)

4:25 pm

Thank you for that :)

Of course!

4:26 pm

Right, hokie! LOLOL

I think I have used 2 clues today

4:26 pm

Or, I could say, thank you for that cl6

4:26 pm

I think (I am still learning the system of this game)

4:26 pm

cl7

4:26 pm

Pardon

Cl4

4:27 pm

I can do math. Really.

4:27 pm

oh no....I was right the first time

4:27 pm

Oh dear. How embarrassing.

Because it’s a 4 letter word starting with CL. If you’re talking about your sentence, if you’re talking about my hint it was CL8.

4:28 pm

I thought "cl6" would mean it begins with "cl" and totals to 6 points

4:28 pm

I am sorry to be so mixed up!

That would be CL4/6. No, it’s good you’re asking, so you get things that people type in here. So, 4 letter word that is worth 6 points.

4:30 pm

Thank you for your he4

4:30 pm

Is THAT reference correct??

No problem!

4:30 pm

Everyone is amazingly kind here

4:31 pm

thank you -- really :) I don't mean to be so annoying and seem so witless

Yes, or you could say he4/6 if you wanted, or you could be like some of us and just write it out like a regular sentence. I feel like if you use regular words in regular convo and write it out you’re just drawing attention to it being in the grid, but others disagree. :D

Hey, we all started sometime, and I’ve seen witless-er. :P

4:32 pm

hello friends. snowing here, tra la la (yuck)

Ooh, trif, I’m sorry. 71 and partly cloudy here, so, perfect.

4:33 pm

I will happily trade!

Nope

4:34 pm

the sl4/5 got a chuckle out of me - my nephew, who lives here, could not think of the word "butter dish" the other day, so he asked where the "butter sl4" was. hehehehe

Like, the thing you ride in the snow? That’s funny.

4:35 pm

yes. it was funny!

4:37 pm

oh shoot -- brb, didn't realize the time, need to feed the goats.

4:43 pm

MAN it is COLD out

We have made the switch to AC this weekend.

4:58 pm

Yep

Are you in NE?

New England, not Nebraska

5:29 pm

sorry - got distracted. I am in massachusetts

5:34 pm

I am in MD and it got very cold here

5:35 pm

Actually not very cold, just cold. We need heat.

5:36 pm

Need last O word. Have oa5 10 and ou 4 7. Stat for last one please.

5:40 pm

Nm found it.

5:48 pm

Could I have a clue for it please mkg?

6:03 pm

I'm in Maryland and it isn't very cold here. Still 56 degrees.

6:04 pm

It is supposed to get cold tonight though.

6:07 pm

Hello!! I am near the D.C. area. It is cold here today for me -- that wind sure is moving! But thank goodness for the gorgeous sunshine

6:07 pm

I prefer the warm to cod weather -- but the freshness of the winter air is spectacular

6:07 pm

yin and yang, I suppose!

6:08 pm

It all balances out

6:08 pm

I guess it's what you consider cold. I don't think 56 degrees is cold.

6:09 pm

I esteem myself pretty sensitive to the cold. I get cold easily :)

6:09 pm

But I cannot complain -- like I said, the sun has been kind and beautiful

6:10 pm

It definitely could be colder, and it has been, so I am counting my blessings :)
