TY

This grid really is like pulling teeth

great, just what I want to read when I'm struggling on the first row 😜

It's all part of the service 😉

7:50 am

ok - question - just put in a word and am getting the message "does not exist in the puzzle" but it clearly does...never had this happen before. Anyone else?

spam?

it's a glitch

Yeah, it always does that with spam

7:50 am

nope...usually when i look again i see that the grid is right... ;o)

7:50 am

Good morning, all. Probably because the word is a proper noun, mama.

Let's call it a feature - an intentional easter egg, as it were, rather than a glitch ;)

7:51 am

spam isn't in the enable dictionary...

good idea

7:51 am

Ok - just thought I was going crazy. I expected it to tell me it's not a word... not that it doesn't exist in the puzzle

according to legend, someone asked the creator to add it and he said he did (which is weird since the game uses the enable list that he doesn't maintain), but ever since it gives that message instead of saying it's not in the dictionary.

and the enable word list was created when spam was mostly still a proper noun and not the common usage of today.

7:53 am

thanks for clarifying. tough grid. think i'm done for the day. have a good one!

adios!

7:54 am

heading out....i will leave 40 for later...bye all....

8:38 am

Our eyes and brain often fail us.

9:26 am

i mean its just a typical day for me like yesterday etc

9:28 am

ohh

9:29 am

it was a long one

9:29 am

9:30 am

yeah, I have just 4 7s so far

9:31 am

9:31 am

i have 5 of the 7 letter words

9:31 am

me too now

9:32 am

i took a guess and got the st8 not thinking it would work👍

9:32 am

this one's hard because no e

9:32 am

yeah, that was my first 8 :)

9:32 am

ooops i meant 17

9:33 am

antimatta - the opposite of regular matta ;)

9:33 am

9:34 am

halfway done

9:35 am

5 7

9:35 am

9:40 am

good morning everyone

9:41 am

hey nan, thanks again for the help at the end yesterday

hey nan

9:41 am

mostly a's and t's looks tough to me!

9:41 am

a toughie

yeah, this one is the worst

ha! last p was a 4

9:43 am

100 down

9:43 am

had a quick look last night, but quit early so only got about a third done

9:43 am

still 2 P's left

104 down here. 42 left in case you can't do the maths.

9:44 am

43 here now

9:45 am

the A's are actually pretty easy

9:46 am

easy as

oh really, ru

9:46 am

hatant - someone who is full of dislike

I need 4 + 3 + 2

9:47 am

1+2+1

9:47 am

they are? -- still need 8 of them

9:48 am

1+2+0 :)

9:48 am

1+1+0

2 + 3 + 2

9:49 am

0+1+0

9:50 am

i need 5 p words

9:50 am

Wow, it's like the Math Squad in here. You party animals

9:51 am

but thanks for the stats

9:52 am

9:52 am

is it a real word?

oh, I thought you had it when you said you had 0 A left for that

9:52 am

well, never seen it before

9:52 am

yeah, I screwed up my A stats...I was doing left to right

9:52 am

but it was my last a

sorry

9:53 am

no worries

9:53 am

am8 - am plus Mr Fleming of Bond fame, three quarters of what an elephant might use to fight.

ty haz

thanks Haz

9:53 am

You're welcome.

9:54 am

no love for my friendly american insect :)

9:54 am

ty mool and haz

well, I was trying to make that work, moo, but I needed it spelled out 😜

9:54 am

yeah, not a word that springs to mind :)

9:54 am

greyed 2nd column a

I wonder if there is a pl that ends in i

9:55 am

nice ML, no greyed rows or columns here

nice, mlfan. still need 1

9:55 am

had most of it from mool''s clue but needed haz's clue for the american bit to register

9:55 am

loved the clue though mool - very clever

9:55 am

which one?

9:56 am

tx nan, I try :)

9:56 am

i thought so too

name that tiny Mazda!

9:56 am

miata

9:57 am

that word isnt in the grid try again mool

ding ding ding

9:58 am

miata is the mazda that hoke was asking about

you should look again, mlfan

9:58 am

is there a p 8?

no, nan

9:59 am

ty - thought someone had said there was, so saved some time looking :)

9:59 am

whew.. there are a couple of toughies in this grid..

10:00 am

oh?

10:00 am

a couple⁉️

10:00 am

i agree hokie

10:01 am

wish that middle t was an e -- so many phantoms

10:01 am

does anyone have any in words?

10:01 am

I have all of them

10:02 am

i just wanted to know are the 6's and 7s together?

10:02 am

i see in the list its 6andthen a 7 x 2

10:02 am

one 6/7 set, the other 2 are separate

10:03 am

i have the in 6/21 and the in4

10:04 am

their should be an in8 but it wont work

10:04 am

time to write a letter to the dictioneers

10:04 am

i agree

10:05 am

you know how the lingerie dept in dept. stores is called in*******? take some letters off for the 6 and then make it pl

10:05 am

not seeing anything but the in 4 and 6/21

10:05 am

I didn't know it was called that :)

10:05 am

ty hokie

10:06 am

it should end in consume food

10:06 am

there's a 7/36 that's italian no one's ever seen (cue mael saying she uses it in convo)

10:06 am

consumed

10:06 am

ty carla

10:07 am

there's no e to end in consumed

10:07 am

i know some italian but no idea what you are talking about?

10:08 am

i know but that is what the real word ends with

10:09 am

paraphrasing greyhound's clue from earlier - in + kid's game (you're it!) + half of the king of the jungle

10:09 am

hokie clue the in 7/36 pls its my last i word?

10:09 am

it's like I'm reading your mind ;)

10:09 am

ah yeah, wouldn't have stumbled on that one

10:09 am

😜

10:10 am

ty again carla

10:10 am

yeah you might fall over

10:10 am

np

10:10 am

ty hokie

10:11 am

see again, I am posting replies before your posts 🤣

10:11 am

you are so good hokie

10:11 am

The whooshing sound that in7 clue made as it zipped by me was kind of neat. :/

10:12 am

hi cross

10:12 am

Howdy mlf. :)

10:12 am

maybe you all don't play that game in canada? but nan got it.

10:12 am

hi crossy

10:14 am

Went through the clues again, and fired up Morewords and found it finally ty. :)

10:15 am

in + male deer that lost it's first letter + half of the animal that sleeps tonight

10:15 am

sometimes you just have to look it up. or at least I do.

10:15 am

inuckli

10:16 am

now that song can run through everyones mind - wimoweh, wimoweh :)

10:17 am

is the ou7 a compound word/

10:17 am

one of my favorite songs

10:18 am

don't have it

10:18 am

*Is stunned that Nan knows The Tokens. I thought that would be classified as "noise"

10:18 am

maybe it's been in enough movies

10:18 am

noise is when there is no melody - just discordant sound

10:19 am

that is a great song and it is real music

10:20 am

the words are nonsense, but a lot of nonsense songs have catchy tunes

10:20 am

I'm not a big fan of nonsense songs

10:20 am

EXACTLY!

10:21 am

yesterday I had a song stuck in my head and I can only remember partial lyrics. I tried humming it to my kids, to Siri, and to Soundhound, and nobody got it.

10:22 am

I also google the partial lyrics and got nothing

10:22 am

googled

10:22 am

lol is it stuck in your head today too?

10:22 am

antifact should be a word --- there are a whole big bunch of politicians out there who believe in antifact

10:22 am

what is soundhound?

10:22 am

lay it on us. perhaps the Babble brain trust can guess it.

10:22 am

Are you sure you have the lyrics right? (Excuse me while I kiss this guy)

10:23 am

soundhound is an app that can tell you what a song playing is. works great with music, but yesterday was the first time I tried the humming.

10:23 am

no, I'm not even sure I have the tune exactly right.

10:23 am

In the jungle the peaceful jungle the lion sleeps tonight..

10:24 am

is the ou7 a compound word/

10:24 am

?

10:24 am

Loved that song.....I was 15!!

10:25 am

i sitll love that song .. was born later

10:25 am

Great song!!;

10:25 am

pretty sure it's rap/hip hop, and I thought it was 50 cent but I looked up his songs and didn't find it. my oldest kid is like a rap/hip hop expert and he said it seemed vaguely familiar.

10:26 am

Oh God, it's probably lyrics from Rapper's Delight. And no one knows all of those.

10:26 am

LOL, not that one. I said hip hop...

10:26 am

(and that was part of the lyrics)

10:27 am

older or newr?

10:27 am

who knows!

10:27 am

your kid might know?

10:27 am

if he knew he would have told me. LOL

10:28 am

snoop dog?

10:28 am

rap and hip-hop are 2 generations too late for me

10:28 am

rehi

10:28 am

rehi, moo

10:29 am

rapping it up are we?

10:29 am

Maybe its j.b.?

10:30 am

is ou 7 a compound word?

10:30 am

yes

10:30 am

Not much into rap music/culture, but we once has a young employee who made me laugh. he would show up for work in a hoodie that was five times too big for him, and his pants would be way down on his hips about to fall off (made him tuck his underwear in though) he would have a bandana around his head, and a baseball cap on backwards and positioned sideways. he would them top it off with about 5 pounds of fake gold chains around his neck I used to call him "25 Cent." :)

10:31 am

mlfan is trying to outspam us by asking that over and over

10:31 am

:)

10:31 am

well.....??

10:31 am

I do not have it.

10:31 am

my ou 7 is a plural,,,

10:32 am

still haven't found it either

10:32 am

could be a compound I think

10:32 am

yes, the one I have is a plural

10:32 am

a plural compound

10:32 am

and it's not oattaps

10:32 am

have an ou 6 that is compound, but no 7's yet

10:32 am

well why didnt you say that the first time mool sheesh

10:32 am

I try not to give it away :)

10:33 am

😁

10:33 am

I'm sure some people can outtat others

10:33 am

i tried that mol

10:34 am

oxclan

10:34 am

is it OU?

10:34 am

it is

10:35 am

well it's a mystery to me, along with the singular and 32 other words

10:35 am

nm

10:35 am

the singular to what?

10:35 am

heh

10:35 am

Ta6/21 please

10:36 am

10:37 am

10:37 am

10:37 am

need 4 o words

10:37 am

can't help either

10:38 am

found it

10:38 am

I figure there is time enough for me to fight with the ou7 word when it becomes my last one to find. :)

10:38 am

slang for um breat, plus a note to follow

10:38 am

I knew it was just a matter of seconds

10:38 am

breast

10:39 am

Found it.... straw mat

10:39 am

ty une. got it right away

10:40 am

hmm, the way I'm reading moo's clue is tataps

10:40 am

I read lts of james Clavell :)

10:40 am

Hey crossy

10:40 am

no idea of a straw mat

10:40 am

lots

10:40 am

I left off the last part of my clue hoke :)

10:40 am

Aahhh

10:40 am

sings o/` a note to follow... o/`

10:41 am

I thought "a note to follow" was a postscript or PS

10:41 am

yeah, I see that now

10:41 am

those clues are flying right over my head - a ta 4 that means upbeat and something that is a straw mat

10:41 am

got it now with the sound of music

10:41 am

looks japanese

10:42 am

Ta6 is a Japanese straw mat

10:42 am

eureka!

10:43 am

20 to go

10:44 am

4 to go.....all C's

10:44 am

cool

10:46 am

31 here

10:47 am

wow, just found a regular F. not seeing the words

10:47 am

100 down - quitting for now - not sure if list would even help today.

10:48 am

still need 10 4's. will try to see those.

10:48 am

I need 2 4s

10:48 am

but eight 6s and seven 7s

10:48 am

I have 5 6's and 8 7's left

10:49 am

Mi is a name I call myself not a note to follow

10:50 am

you are correct. guess I was messing those lyrics up in my head too!

10:50 am

found a 7

10:50 am

yes, I know moo made the lyrical error, but somehow I got the word with the wrong one

10:52 am

Lyrically incorrect minds think alike

10:53 am

maybe he can come up with the song stuck in my head

10:53 am

I can't read minds unfortunately

10:54 am

well, not all of us have the gift

10:54 am

do you have any clues...lyrics, context?

10:54 am

I think there's an F bomb in the 2nd part

10:55 am

well that narrows it down :)

10:55 am

I'm a ****, I'm a f* *****, you don't wanna mess with me. or dance with me or something.

10:58 am

oh well, found 2 4's. 27 left. taking a break.

10:59 am

12:24 pm

12:25 pm

12:29 pm

oh darn thought i found it but i did find ca 7/36

12:34 pm

back for lunch

12:34 pm

hi hokie

12:34 pm

it's a concert at a church, like at christmas or easter

12:34 pm

it's a song, a choral composition CA 7/8 that is

12:35 pm

bbl

12:36 pm

ty hokie and mont

12:37 pm

12:42 pm

rem when greyhound blurted that HI7 clue this morning? I'm still not getting that.'

12:43 pm

starts with opposite of her and ends in iner***

12:44 pm

thanks, had the first part

12:45 pm

12:45 pm

12:47 pm

12:52 pm

12:52 pm

phantom cutlas

well, going to have to leave these last 20 for later-never

1:10 pm

antifa's not in the enable dictionary, just like they were not in DC on Jan 6. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

1:32 pm

my husband had to run some errands, he was looking for some pens. He came across a Bic pen, this is the 50th anniversary of the bic 4 color click pen. The original is still available to this day. For the anniversary unless its been redone for good. they took out one of the colors i think green and replaced with purple .The outside of this version of the pen is also purple

1:41 pm

surprised that antimap is not a word - my dad certainly is

1:42 pm

what's an antimap?

1:43 pm

being against asking for directions or using guides :-)

1:43 pm

I always have

1:43 pm

that makes sense

1:43 pm

loved those pens, fan.

1:44 pm

tint

1:44 pm

Sorry

1:44 pm

you probably know the joke about why it takes 10,000 sperm to fertilize an egg

1:46 pm

Why is that, joy?

1:48 pm

because none of them will stop and ask for directions

1:48 pm

Ha!

mlfan, I have 2 of those 4 color Bics here. one is the original colors and the other is pastels.

1:51 pm

I'm jealous, hokie.

1:52 pm

pastels???

I just bought them a couple of years ago. keep one in the car.

1:52 pm

the only one i have ever seen is the blue on the outside and blue black green and red as the different colors

these are white on the outside and that's all i ever remember

1:53 pm

i used to have a big thick pen, wieth about 14 clickable colors the outside was red. i have not seen it since i had it years ago

2:00 pm

i am not seeing anything

2:04 pm

found some words

2:29 pm

Help, please -with the ca 7\32.

2:30 pm

just started so i'm no help, but dang, we are so close to having antipasto in the grid!

2:32 pm

I thought the same think.

2:33 pm

diana ends with british good bye times two

2:34 pm

in other words ** **

2:35 pm

not the best clue sorry

2:35 pm

starts with tin ***

2:35 pm

it's a musical piece, ca7

2:36 pm

Thanks but I have that one. The one I need is the last ca 7/32.

2:37 pm

that is the 32

2:37 pm

ah well, had no idea there were two

2:37 pm

oh the other one

2:37 pm

ts

2:38 pm

the last ca7/32 is a hybrid animal. Think about the one who roams on the range

2:40 pm

i just discovered an fa7 that takes an -ic off an enthusiastic 9 that isn't in the grid

2:41 pm

Got it - thanks.

2:48 pm

I just don't see that SP7,36. Anyone got a hint?

2:49 pm

you use it to flip your pancakes

2:49 pm

damn...so obvious now that you mention it. Thanks hurshy

2:50 pm

yw

3:09 pm

have ca8 and st8, anyone have the other 8?

am8

wow, didn't see that sp7 either

3:11 pm

does am8 build on any of the other three am words?

3:13 pm

Could continue the AM 4/5

kinda the first am4

3:13 pm

Before the AM8

looks like maybe a HP spell

3:14 pm

ty both

3:15 pm

i think finata should be a pinata that is finished

3:16 pm

fiñata

3:16 pm

haha!

3:22 pm

more of a tough grid today

3:23 pm

chewy

3:23 pm

overcooked, then?

3:23 pm

fibrous

3:23 pm

gristly

3:23 pm

definitely

3:24 pm

needs more time to become digestible

3:25 pm

i don't think that'll help lol

3:25 pm

down to 18 now

3:25 pm

gnawing off a bit here and there

3:25 pm

25 for me

3:25 pm

Heh. 62

3:26 pm

17...but 7 are 6s and 6 are 7s...I'm all at 6s and 7s

3:26 pm

yeah i need 2-4-9-10, yuck

3:26 pm

1-3-7-6

3:27 pm

similar looking patterns

3:30 pm

Trying to avoid looking at Lickety's clues until I can get at least 100...been trying all day!

3:31 pm

you can do it dauber!

3:31 pm

yeah...I hear ya

3:31 pm

i'm trying lots of out- as a prefix, but only one has worked

3:31 pm

keep trying

3:31 pm

even though i'm sure my mom could outnag yours

3:32 pm

arghghgh...phantom "asphalt"!

3:32 pm

my mum doesn't really nag, but she still drives me nuts

I suggested she try to find a computer person to help or a sewing store, but come on, it's 9 years old!

4:06 pm

Actually I just found 2 more. I'm missing the TA5,12 and the TA6,21 that are on either side of the song you play at bedtime.

4:06 pm

4:06 pm

ta 5/12...I'd check to make sure it's not a plural

4:06 pm

it's a bone in your hand I think

4:09 pm

I have on there no returns, but I feel bad because she told me last week she was going to use it to start a business. that's a ridiculous prospect because it's a basic home model. but maybe that's her scam and if I tell her to send it back she'll send a different one.

6:26 pm

Based on the t4 just before

6:27 pm

(the baby powder, that is)

6:28 pm

ty gillie

6:28 pm

all I could think of was the ending for the powder

6:28 pm

:)

6:29 pm

now all the "experts" are saying how terrible it is to use baby powder

6:30 pm

sometimes I think it is amazing that our kids ever survived!

6:35 pm

Yes, well apparently for a long time Johnson & Johnson weren't letting on that it contained some asbestos. Maybe that's no longer the case, though.

6:36 pm

I've never like talc anyway - it always made me want to sneeze

6:37 pm

ok -- never used it - perfume too strong for me -- used an unscented powder I got at the drug store - can't remember the name of it now.

6:38 pm

I guess asbestos occurs naturally in some talc deposits

6:38 pm

are the last 3 ca's all feline words? Have the 7/36 but not the other two

6:39 pm

I've only got the first of the last three - it's a medieval musical term

6:40 pm

instrument, style or direction?

6:41 pm

A term for a tune, basically

6:41 pm

you aren't think of Bach's compositions are you?

6:42 pm

No, older ones - it's often used with the term "firma"

6:42 pm

Sorry, "firmus"

6:43 pm

mmm - not really into baroque music - will have to look it up

6:45 pm

new term for me

6:45 pm

I studied music quite a bit, so it was familiar to me

6:46 pm

Thanks for pointing me to the ca7/36, by the way. Got to go now!

6:47 pm

I did too, but not so much theory -- mostly symphonic as I played violin. Did play in a couple of quartets though that did older compositions

6:49 pm

just need the last ca 7/32 now -- must begin with the feline

6:54 pm

this is so tough even with the list

6:55 pm

Good morning all.
