And yes that is dangerously close to a real grid word, so I am already in the PB
also a fairly common surname from my part of the country
also molly, it occurred to me last night while I was trying to go to sleep that A Whole New World was Aladdin and Jasmine's song, not Ariel's.

morning all
oh goody, a nice sized grid
yeah, just got here myself
the king/butterfly is just so stand-out-ish
i guess William will be the mo7, and Harry will be the no7
(note, that's a joke, not a real no7)
didn't see it, shirl, but just got here, so thanks for the call
How are your eyes today Nan?
The second row of the grid really woke me up.
oooh, nice fr6 word today
Hurshy is filling in for Aloy today
i am?
ntpn -- miss daisy
Tandy
gold star for hurshy
Oh good for Nan, she gives prizes
shirl i dont think so i dont knw what the word is
just found the other ac 7 -- what a great word for this game, seeing as how so many are words according to enable
clue it pls?
just did, mlf
the 7/44 right?
yes
oh that is the one shirl called I just realized -- I found the 7/40 at that time -- wasn't paying attention to the points
yes we are looking or the 7/44
snafu, awol, sase, rsvp are all ac 7/44s
thx cyber! i love me a good ac7
Me, I could do without their general overuse
and yes, great word in this grid
I dont see the second ac word. I have the one that ends in the seseme st. Person but what s the other? Is there a clue?? Why dont i find it?
that's the one that cyber just clued, the ac7.44
I dont get it. They are initials. So i am so confused. Ac????
just found the other ac 7 -- what a great word for this game, seeing as how so many are words according to enable
is there an echo in here lol
Snafu is not initials but i dont know what it is. So very confused.
i had to copy paste it
Sesame St. person???
think of the man on the flying trapeze to start the ac7
Ac + the dracula person on seseme st.
yes - the numbers guy on sesame st. --- or Dracula
or the one from MonteCristo
Got it. Ty
the word scuba isnt just a word it is a ac for something?
I knew that y would be handy.
yes, it's Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus
lol yes hurshy we know that but the words are an ac for scuba
i know
you just put a question mark, so i thought you were expressing surprise that it is an ac7
no helping mkg i hope lol
name that proper noun! capital of Venezuela
caracas
ding ding ding!!!
hi dc
hello :)
i've been awake for only about an hour.
lucky you
mkg are you still here????
ntpn - gambling capital of europe
Monaco
monte carlo
that's not in the grid, shirl
first part is ...
Well, it seems there is some debate about the gambling capital of Europe
gold star for matty
monte carlo is the name of the casino in monaco
i keep wanting things that end with -ct
monte carlo is the city; monaco is the country.
yes - I made contact with that phantom too :)
and the casino is tiny
I was there years ago. There was a store next to the casino with children's clothes for rich people. There was a baby-sized mink coat in the window.
I don't think MonteCarlo is a city -- it is a district in the principality where the casino and administrative offices are located. The primcipality is, in reality, just a big city
I looked it up and Nan is right "Monte-Carlo, resort, one of the four quartiers (sections) of Monaco. "
We didn't go to the casino, but we did go to the palace
weird place
baby mink coat ... poor mink
* waved at the casino as we drove by :)
Yeh, killing animals for their fur is something that should have gone out of fashion several hundred years ago. We've got lots of other stuff to keep us warm now.
isn't a castle with no trench around it un 8?
definitely, nan. I'm having little luck with that UN.
uncat = when you disturb your sleeping furbaby
have the un 4 and a un 5, but not finding the last one
uncoat = what happened to that poor mink (see joym999's comments 11.53)
name that proper noun! the big baddie of Lord of the Rings

carcas isn't in the dictionary ????

carcass, with two S's
oh, right
phantom nachos are making me hungry
you can also spell it carcase, as in the Dorothy Sayers mystery "Have His Carcase"
obviously time for me to take a break -- back for the last 97 later
v. slow grid for me too, will be back later
Why are words that start with vowels so much harder to find?
can i have a clue for the bottom 2nd column t pls?
I expect it's a expectation of our own intellects
te6 something you get a shot to prevent if you step on a rusty nail
the lone t is lockjaw-ish
that is to say, we expect words to start with consonants :)
ty monkeyed it from hurshy clue. cheers
A truck struck a pedestrian bridge on DC 295 causing it to collapse.
oh dear that sounds bad
yikes. anyone hurt?
Taking a break from tasks...82 left...
online news reports some people injured, but no deaths, so that's good
Not as bad as it sounds. Luckily no one was killed and injuries are minimal.
phew
My news reports say the bridge collapsed, not that it was struck by a truck
Bridges that collapse give me the eebie-geebies
That's why we need to invest more in our infastructure.
yeah i used to sometimes walk across a pedestrian bridge in san jose and it was so scary. i couldn't convince my brain that the cars hurtling towards me were not going to hit me, they were just going to go under me
et6 clue pls?
et + sometimes vowel + first letters of cash

And hand to God, I wouldn't live in New York City if you paid me. That is too much steel and rebar on a tiny little island. It's all going to cave in one day.
rehi. lunch break.
Hello, CArla.
this grid is not going well. maybe I've taken too many breaks.
Manhattan is an island. NYC is not an island.
I know that's nitpicky, but I'm from NYC and it drives me crazy when people assume that NYC is only Manhattan. Of course movies and media reinforce that perception constantly, so I guess it's not surprising.
well the boroughs are a mystery to some of us. is it a city in a city?
It's not the breaks, Carla. Its the grid
thanks, bea. good to know it's not just me.
each of the boroughs except Staten Island has a larger population than most other U.S. cities. Each has around 2 million. So yeh, Manhattan is really a city within a city.
% boroughs were all separate towns in 17-1800's. Brooklyn and Queens are actually the the western part of Long Island, Manhattan and Staten Island are both islands and the Bronx is the only borough attached to the mainland. I grew up in Brooklyn and we always called manhattan the city.
Me too. I grew up in the Bronx and Queens, and when we got on the subway to go to Manhattan we were "going into the city."
we used to say we were "going to town" when we went to the city next to us (pop.50k)ðŸ˜
Name the Mexican resort city in the grid for 10 points.
**plays Jeopardy music**
cancun
10 points for hokie carla!
Back in the 70's, there were signs on the exits from the bridges and/or tunnels into Brooklyn stating that it was the 4th largest city in the U.S. at that time with over 4.4 million people. I believe that has been down graded to approx 3.3 lately. Taxes, rents, housing, travel all are unbelievably expensive so many have left.
i think it's funny when New Yorkers think all of America should know everything about how NYC works.
caco
courf
oops , sorry
There was a question about Manhattan earlier hokie
We just want you to know that Manhattan is only part of NYC, and that most NYC residents do NOT live there. Plus, we want someone to make a movie in Brooklyn or the Bronx or Queens sometimes.
they made a movie in my neighborhood a few years ago. Paper Towns. still haven't seen it.
I'm having a really hard time with the 3rd row C. Everytime I find a word it turns out to belong to the 2nd row C.
yeah, not going great with either one for me. have 27 in one and 7 in the other. not left, that's how many I've found.
26 and 6 for me.
now have 9 on the lower
just found a weird one that is c + a dressing
salad dressing or bandage dressing or stuffing dressing?
salad
also a one-level house or a farm out west with horses and cattle
one of my favorite types of dressing!
I just ate a salad with some.
Oh my God, okay. That part of New York there, built on an island and some other land. I wouldn't live there. No matter what you call it, it is too much steel and girder for that tiny amount of land. Sooner or later, something is going to give.
I wouldn't live anywhere in NYC, or anywhere in DC area for that matter
New York City. It's the only city with counties, only they call them boroughs.
I've lived in both and really enjoyed them, but I like the weather in CA better.
Why not DC?
just not my style
which part of CA are you joy? SF? I don't rem.
yup I live in SF
I am not a city person but DC bugs me less than most because of the no skyscraper thing
I'm a big city kinda person.
yeah, nice weather. except in July. 😂
I went to college with a ton of kids from No. VA, and I can't even explain how annoying they were.
the weather in DC was the worst thing about living there. The politics you can ignore, but not the weather.
The Commonwealth is a thing of itself.
they liked to ask where I was from because I didn't have the same accent as them, and when I'd say SWVA, they'd say, but this is SWVA, and then I'd say, well, it's doesn't end here, it goes on like 5 more hours southwest of here. and they were snobby and liked to look down on that end of the state.
I have seen this in action. Northern Virginia people like to act like they are above the Virginian hicks who live south of them.
Clue for tu7 please?
Sounds like a Mexican snack
The kind you get at the Bell place
Well, I make mine because the kind you get at the Bell place are likely to keep you close to the bathroom for the day
Hmmmm....
turritos? tchurros?
Did you all get that tu?
No
I have no idea what the TU is...the clue didn't help me
Me either
Think about the folded snack with two letters after the t
Folded Mecixan snack that Americans like to have on Tuesdays.
isnt that a 4?
the folded Mexican snack is a TA...how does it turn into a TU?
No idea....
I said add two letters after the T. Younalready have theTU. Add one moare letter before the last three of the snack
My spelling/typing is horrendous!
Have tu6/24.......
that is a 6
add another vowel at the end of the tu6
got it! i think you should have started with that lol
Sorry, didn't read down the chat far enough to see you were looking for the 7.
bzz can you clue the de6?
Got it

Well, the boring workshop I was listening to while I Babble is over, so I'm afraid I have to go do some real work for awhile. Hasta luego.
did you get the bad word C? first one I saw last night.
Of course I did.
hey hoke
No wailing about the c word today. I guess people have given up on that, finally
moo!!
found 2 c's!
Still need three C's
still need 16 + 9!
2 + 1
Is it cool out there, Carla?
yeah, only 79
Au7/40?
au 7 - for the last four spell stones wrong...
weird, thanks
another term for oxen I believe
Tx Bea!
Never got ac7/44....
do you need me to "spell it out"?
you could say you ac7 is MIA
AC 7 is like LMAO or 1
Or Carla's favorite game with ru
ah, ru's nemeses
can't believe I missed it
NASA, AARP We can go on...
depends on your POV bea
I can't believe you missed it too.
3-10-11-10-3-1....not ideal
I told you it wasn't my grid
oh, who's grid is this one....hursh's?
27 left...Need to go get some things done...May be back later..
we're always opposite. bye bea!
it's a tough grid this one...lot's of long words
38 left here
71 here but I'm only half looking
yeah, I'm not highly motivated to finish this one yet
Ac7.....??....guess I'm just too stoopid to see it :-(
did you see the clues, une?
an abbreviation une...to the letter :)
Got it!
yay!
2.9 WPT
3.94
really having a challenge with that right s
yeah, I still need 10. is there another S I can't see?
name that ruler of mordor!
sauron
saw it earlier, was going to post it for you :)
✅✅✅
Oh come on- no Monty?
noun
ouch
Monty rule Lesdor....not Mordor
sorry. those words are there.
and I already have those!
me too...so no help for me
I only have one 4 left tho
11 here
1-7-7-10-3-1
definitely need some more big words
I keep wanting to make something related to saccharin
yeah, me too
found an S!
saccharon :)
the boatman on the river styx was as sweet as saccharon
Good one!!
ah, found the 9
actually a regular word, though I saw a clue
yes, and I got 2 8s out it too
oh, I still need one of those sa8s
I imagine so :)
forgot about it, but found it
yay
I'm struggling with the upper u, only have un4
ah, just started looking for words off a tile I had greyed
LOL, I have been doing that with the D
I was just looking at the U, have one left there
and I did that grey looking with the D too...weird
need one u on the bottom too
found the last u
have all the u's
unbelievable
I think I saw at the flip there is a un8
well if you're not flat out like a lizard drinking, and bear with that bottom u, you'll be done before you get pissed off
there is a u8
'twas ur5 on the bottom
nice :)
now just 3 T's down there to gray the row
I have one T remaining down there
but that seems impossible
I suspect I know two of your missing T's
they're variants of the same word
I got tu6/7 from chat earlier
oh, then it's not them :)
perhaps the jewish holy book?
those are from the other T
oh, there's a 6, that comes up relatively commonly
are you talking about the 6 that's actually from the single T? 😜
a 5 that is even more commonly found
ahhhhh
no, that's a different T hoke
I have 4 TR and the 2 TU
I have 5 tr's
a ta and the two tu's
actually not sure on the ta
I have another one, trying to figure out what it is
oh, a to
so tox1, trx5 and tux2
LOL, I thought you were giving the 3rd letter for a second there
heh
could've sworn I typed that to already
yeah, easy to mistype that
how many do you guys have left
24
2 now, 1 is a TR and 1 we don't know
1-6-7-9-1
oh, do you mean total words or the bottom T?
oh ok cool
still 66 total
total words
you even know the length hoke :)
i'm at 34
I do?
yes, you do...I told you earlier :)
guess I forgot
i have a tr6/21 and 7/36 that i think are alt sp of each other that are not normal words but we have the 6 occasionally
yes, they're a bird hursh
well, just found out trashcan isn't on enable, even though lots of words like that are
hello again -- still have 94 to go
hey nan
uh, that's not what the dictionary says, mool
there's even other spellings which aren't in the board today
well I guess I'm missing TR6 and 7
the one i'm talking about, the def of the 6 is: a sharp-pointed instrument enclosed in a cannula, used for withdrawing fluid from a cavity, as the abdominal cavity.
a couple of different birds in the grid so far
the 7 does not appear in the dictionary
oh, that's the one I was cluing to hoke
and forgot the alternate spelling
not seeing any of these t's being mentioned, tr, tu
ok, so not a bird
to6 bird i have tho
yeah, the bird is a 6/7 combo :)
stats for the 9 please?
well the def sounds familiar but not helping 👵ðŸ»
and my4/5/6
oh yeah, three birds
sa9/66
ah, thanks for the froot loops
yes, there's another bird hursh, less common off that t
the bottom right t that is
have an my bird and a to bird - neither can be pl.
the to bird is from the first t... ok so you're saying there is another one from the bottom
my bird has an alt sp with a pl
the m can nan...you just need to think more broadly :)
yes, hursh, there's another t bird
off the bottom
*how many people trying to make thunderbird now
I guess technically the r4 are also birds
well stats for it?
tu 6/24 and tu 7/40
though mythical in nature
almost caracara as well, which is in the falcon family
don't know any birds that begin with tu offhand
and I thought that was an orange
yeah, this bird is exotic, so wouldn't expect that many people to know it
there is a caribbean island or blue mixer? syrup? for mixed drinks that starts with cu that the tu reminds me of
oh, the island is a word!
yes, that's a goof clue hoke
good
glad I didn't say it
sorry
ummmm ... cuba?
LOL
yes it is. because of the mixer :)
further south hursh
Atlanta Brave Andruw Jones is from the island
sometimes referred to as the ABC islands (being the C)
ok i got the C that is a word and the tu6, now for the tu7
ty for the my 5-6 mool
add a vowel
yw nan
are all the upper u's UN?
yes
none of the words I'm trying are working
i have two un4 and a un5 there, missing one too
but found 2 more c's
no turacao so I'm lost
perhaps you aren't very dextrous :)
the last one is lame..if that helps...the 8 is kinda whatever
well, it just reminds me of that, nan. last 2 vowels are different.
so cut out one of the vowels, nan, for the 6
and then add a different vowel for the 7
found un8!
seems appropriate for summer hoke :)
ty carla
i wanted unchart like uncharted territory lol
I may have tried that, but no one saw anything...so you can't prove it
I tried unchart at least 4 times since the flip
keep wanting tachyon too
I didn't want anything to be tilted, but that didn't work either
appropriate for summer is the actual un8?
I guess literally
in a lateral sense hursh...unless you live near the poles I guess
could also be grilled nuggets
or bare metal :)
or a fence that needs painting
or a skinny pig
this is bewildering
it's a lame word
60 left still. did we ask hurshy if she likes this grid?
I painted the house, but left the fence un8
I didn't...did you?
it's alright - i like that it's not small, at least, lol
just now
22 to go
2.44 WPT
1-4-6-8-1
10-19-18-12-1 🤣
that's a lot of 4s and 5s
I know, not my day. guess I will work on 4s.
FINALLY figured it out!
which one?
the un8
oh yeah
so it all makes sense now?
sort of
appropriate for summer :)
ooh, Germany just tied Hungary and then Hungary just scored again
well that would be the silliest of the possible definitions lol
and New Zealand one the inaugural Cricket World Test Championships :)
I'm nothing if I'm not the silliest
or did they two it?
i like it when european nations get out their need to defeat each other in sports rather than world wars
oh...well there was only one test ;)
i need a lot of C words
need 9 more C words...4 from each
12 + 9 C's left
oh 8..sheesh
lol
i need 9, 3 and 6
did I tell you the neighborhood across the street always has kids playing cricket when I walk by?
did you get the ch7 and 8 version of the ca6 and 7?
no, you hadn't mentioned that
I played a bit when I lived in Philly, but haven't played since
yes, I did
yes, but didn't have the ca7 somehow
one of my recent Cs was the Grand Ca6
yeah, had that one too
LOL, I was like, I don't see Cayman (still stuck in the caribbean)
did not have BTW
do you have one that's like a martial art but with a C instead of a K
speaking of the caribbean, do you have the shell one
i do
yes, and it's worth it's weight in gold
I have and odd c6 off the top...a plural without a singular
didn't have that or the weight
hmm, don't think i have a pl with no singular
yeah, it's not really a plural, just you know...
ok i think i got it
apparently it's a word for marijuana
hmm
not really up on those
there's another c6 that sounds like a dr seuss word...i.e. it rhymes with some others
that one is off the bottom c
you make it so hard not giving the second letter!
don't want to give it away :)
yes but we might HAVE it and it's hard to know if we do, trying to check through all of them
cr6
but my MO is not to give second letter unless requested :)
I will interpret your comment as a request for the second letter ;)
thanks :)
i THINK i know which one you mean and have it
cool
it's a standalone
mhm
it's the last of the cr words that i have thus far
yeah, thought you might be thinking the anagram one
which is also not the last cr word that I have
ok so is that NOT what you meant by the dr seuss word then?
correct
the Dr Seuss word comes earlier
sigh
and the one you thought it was, has at least one more cr after it
well, at least i found another cr word, a pal or buddy
yep, that was the one after :)
ok so do you mean the one that rhymes with a dude ra5?
I see the mexican resort is there too
yes, that one
oh, germany just tied it up again
mexican resort
hmm
i have mexican house
mexican resort isn't a word unless there is another
phantom context -- in more ways than one!
it's a proper noun
I know, I thought you were saying it was allowed
oh so not one that counts
ok
right
catonym - puss, kitty, or other name used to generally describe your feline pet
at least we can't see cataracts in this grid
why is oaty never a word or why do I keep trying oaty?
i am getting sleepy
because it should be a word?
because there is systemic discrimination against cereals that aren't wheat or rice
i was hoping cruton would be a spelling of crouton but nooooo
I mean, this cereal bar is very oaty
croton works though...but that's a plant :)
the part of the earth's crust works cr6
grayed a tile!
tectonic plate?
anagram of milk vessel
oh, again, have that one lol
T++++ M+C++ ++ACS +TOR+ +++++
she already has that one hoke
that WAS he last cr :)
wait, does the letter or the plus mean it's gray? I forgot
+ is grey
well, I had to take Winston out and missed a lot of the C talk
coincidentally
excuse accepted
TNU++ M+CHA Y+ACS +TORA +++T+

sa8 - if you soak something or sa8 - the thing that soaks something
perhaps how you'd describe hiphop nan?
I think that's the stupid one she means
i have that one but miss an N too
I still need 1 too from there
perhaps the nu5
ty for mo7/8 and sa8/9

ty for ch7/8. at first I thought it said bunch of monkeys ")
:)
of course my missing H was the thing on your arm, had the other form
52 - tired of struggling -- going to list now
eww, what's on my arm?
hair?
51 here
21 here
hopefully it's a different ha4
a tic?
at the END of your arm
hamper
assuming you're going to picnic of course
Oh, my, I can't believe it has the yiddish word . But not Monty. How unpredictable.
at the end of my arm is a scissor
what yiddish word
how does catony not mean anything
you're edward scissorha4s??
For your'e going to have a grandchild, I wish you lot's of ...
monotony
The Yiddish world is what you get from the children unless one is a no-goodnik
ty hursh for au8 words
It's not what you eat with melted cheese
mazel tov is all i can think what you wish someone
what does it start with? not sure I've heard this yiddish
Yiddish word. Na.....
ok must not have that then
oh. didn't know what that meant
Yeah you have. It's a na____ and it's what you hope to get from Der kinder
only have the drug related na words
I thought they were just feminine mexican foods
:D
You have to go into your throat to say it
it looks like the chips but different vowel
pretty sure I never heard that
Ha ha1
still 21 to go
1-6-5-8-1
na, go into your throat, and pluralize. You can say it at a Bris, Bar Mitzvah, or a wedding
un8 please
Did you get it?
yeah i don't think i've heard of that one kap
just finally got it here
ah, found my last 4
un8 - i will sue the company, because this Klondike bar is just ice cream un8 with a chocolate layer!
so...20 to go
ooh i'm catching up to you mool, 23 here
Usually it would end with an es, but it's Yiddish, so you can spell it any way you want.
you have low standards for engaging legal action hursh
un8 hmm
i have never ACTUALLY engaged in any legal action
Like you can spell Chanukah anyway you want because it's a transliteration anyway
it's only for the purposes of cluing
heh
ac 7-5
ac 7-44 please, and thank you
i think i will spell chanukah c-h-r-i-s-t-m-a-s, does that work?
an abbreviation nancy....to the letter
ty for un8 hursh
No, within reason.
lol
don't worry, when i make a word deviate from its spelling that much, i pay it extra
Why not un ch...the ship set down on the shore of this unch...ed desert isle.
Sorry to say not clicking mool
yeah we all wanted that one
but many un words are like that, unwept but not unweep, because it's not REALLY a past tense, it's acting as an adjective
guess your word is still MIA then Nancy, perhaps if you shift your POV a little, you might end up with it...at least that's IMO
LOL
With Gilligan, the Kipper too, the Millionaire and his wife. A movie star and the Professor and Mary Ann- here on Gilligan's Isle.
keep on with that and you'll have the CIA, NSA, and FBI on your heels, mool
Skipper, Not Kipper. It is not Yom Kipper.
I am moving back to sewing with an occasional glance at this grid. I hate to leave it at 51 because that's just odd, but oh well.
not to mention Molly
I would consider myself a POW if they captured me
meanwhile may you have na6 from Der kinder
speaking of numbers, WHEN is amazon going to wise up and have prime day on a day whose number is actually prime??
can you give me an ETA on them arriving hursh?
I never finish grids.
I sometimes finish grids...but don't think I'll finish this one
oh well...there's a third spelling of that bird after all...just off a different tile
oh great, just what i needed
I didn't bother with the short one the other day- too boring and frustrating if I can't find two words. I like grids that never end
I couldn't wait to tell you hursh :)
the my bird or the to bird?
but it is worth a 7
the other bird nan, off the bottom
though the third spelling comes off the top corner
the bird none of us had ever heard of
one ca... but 2 can?
missed that chat i guess
yeah, think it was just as you were coming in
differemt bird kaplan
i have the nicest little girlie cat in the whole wide world
there's at least three birds, and one mythical bird in the grid so far
I only know big birds and little birds. I am not an ornithologist. I wish THAT was a word in a grid
I'm not an ornithologist, but I do enjoy birding and birds in general
Is it myna bird or is it your-a bird?
sexologist was in a serpentine grid I played yesterday
WHOO
i like magpies, i don't think we have them in the US but i saw them in england and i think they are rather pretty, idk why people don't tend to like them
there are two species of "magpie" in the US
though they're not closely related to the European, or Australian magpies
what regions do they inhabit?
mostly western states
Now, what does one do when one is birding? I know what fishing is. The past tense of the feline activity is in the grid, .
ah
one sits very still with binoculars and/or a camera
we get black-billed here in Colorado, but the Yellow-billed are only found in the central valley of CA
The natural habitat is changing so fast that for the past 3 summers we have been inundated with bunnies, some of whom I have been able to save. I have two cats. There are also coyotes and a bobcat sighting. This is next to BOSTON, in an urban area.
found another 7...edging closer
There are wild turkeys and a few peacocks in Cambridge, MA
Rabbits and coyotes along with racoons and foxes are adapting to urban areas quite well
mool, can you give me third letter, still cant find it
Had a turkey on the neighbor's roof when I lived in CA last
do you know what IBM, FBI, and USA all have in common Nancy?
used to get peacocks and white ibises in my yard in Miami
and a my5 for that matter
only the Ibises were native though
When my cats look at me with that conspiratorial smug Mafia look, I know there's a bunny close by. If I'm lucky I can get it into a towel from the corner and let it hop away. If not,
No what
nancy - snafu and awol are both ac 7's
otherwise I know there's been a hit
they're all spelled with letters
Thank you for that clue
everything is spelled with letters lol
good lord, how i missed that is beyond belief. must be over tired, tyvm all
well yes, but these ones are specific letters
Hurshy you are too much today!
I guess I should have specifically added specific :)
just stating the obvious lol
yeah yeah...this board wears....
yeah i'm getting tired of this, i will get the list
Everything is spelled with letters, you can spell Chanukah c-h-r-i-s-t-m-a-s and everything has a Yiddish version are the lessons I take from today.
I guess we could spell Christmas s-a-t-u-r-n-a-l-i-a...not like it has any real tie to the date it's celebrated
Nothing is really anything. By the way, I seem to have misplaced a year and a half of my life- maybe it's in the other room? Near my glasses?
the commercial did famously say that r-o-l-a-i-d-s spells relief
have you checked the sofa?
I'm sorry I put myself in the PB earlier
With one of the birds.
not sure why everyone has such a fascination with peanut butter ;)
I hope I didn't shrink it in the dryer
ok, i will share the bounty from the list - there is a weird au7/40 that looks like pl with no singular
that's the ox
also worth checking your pockets in the laundry hamper
kap shrunk an ox in the dryer?
yes, now he has a pygmy bull
You are misgendering me! New word.
oops, my apologies
I got a bunch of words from your au clue
do you prefer "they" pronouns, kap?
you could say you augmented your list :)
I'm kidding.
through the list and 13 left -- later
I have been told on line that I am obviously a man from a country where women aren't allowed to drive.
I wouldn't know
well, there are always weird misunderstandings online!
wouldn't know what
I know but this is funny. Are women allowed to drive in Flushing, Queens?
anything, other than you have some affinity to boston
My mother didn't drive- maybe that's why
ooh are you barbara walters' daughter?
I know, I like having an online self
my mother drives me crazy
why Barbara Walters?
she doesn't drive
i think when i learned that she doesn't drive was the first time it ever even occurred to me that there could be people who are educated and have money and everything but who do not drive!
Well, there's a new nugget of knowledge.
When I lived in NYC the first time, I didn't drive :)
In New York and Queens in particular there are busses everywhere.
at least until I decided to leave NYC after three years
i dislike NYC
I've lived there a couple of times...don't feel I'll live there again, but had some fun times there
We just went "down the corner" and there was the green bus or the orange bus, straight into Main St Flushing which is now New China (great food) and then into the #7 train and there you were- the World's Fair
My daughter lives in Brooklyn right where my mother lived in the 1940s
that's continuity for you
had friends in Brooklyn, but lived in the city both times
Well, it wasn't Chinatown during the Worlds Fair, but it just shows how places have new character, always changing.
yeah, I lived in Harlem second time around
I am not a male, was born in Brooklyn, have a common Hebrew name that you would hear a lot in Brooklyn, and I learned to drive in Boston at age 30.
personally, i refuse to go to Harlem in ermine & pearls
And I'm going to be a grandmother. But am I really old enough?
don't dish the dirt with the rest of the girls
i'm at that awkward age where i'm biologically old enough to be a grandmother but young enough to still potentially get pregnant
Hurry hurry take the A Train- the quickest way to get to Harlem
I don't think I'll ever be a grandmother
I have lived out of NY for decades but you can take the girl out of Queens- but you can't take the Queens out of the girl
Moo, you could try
yes, if I was so inclined...and with help from my daughter of course...but she's a ways off from that
And not the part of Queens that the trumps came from- only the parts they developed--and redlined.
ah yes...the gold
nothing like 80s chic
I have to leave in a few minutes- I have a Zoom group to run
It wasn't me that worked in a bridal shop in Flushing Queens when her boyfriend kicked her out in one of those crushing scenes
ok geesh you can swap the last two vowels on the cu7 for another cu7
what was she to do, where was she to go
oh, well whaddya know
tx hursh
She was out on her fanny
TY!

bye grid
think I'm gonna call it too...17 left, not worth the effort at this point
gl hursh...and anyone else lurking
yeah just 10 more, getting through it with list
Thx. I won't finish. Too annoyed and too far away to bother. Will pick for a while tho...
yes champ. this is a long grid
unto
I have 71 left and it might as well be a million. Feeling STUPID.
us a child is born
how did you know i was in the mood for the Messiah, TO? ;)
don't feel stupid, there are a lot of weird ones
more with a double-c than i would have expected
The mess of a-c-s letters all in a jumble are making me nuts.
Unless you are the creators of the requirements for Mensa (the people who play at the flip) this game makes everyone feel stupid.
Sometimes it's your day, and sometimes it's not! I'll live. *sniff*
i discovered something during my long-term subbing job
there are kids who simply do not care if they fail, and apparently their parents don't care either, in some cases
TRUE.
spent the afternoon with my 14 year old nephew. He has regret that he didn't choose to try to take algebra in 8th grade. He's going into 9th and feels "behind". My brother and sis-in-law apparently just let him choose with no advice or direction. And now a 14 year old has REGRET. Insanity!
tell him it's ok, these things are no biggie
You don't have to be a helicopter parent to pay attention and guide your kid.
I did Hurshy, but it annoys me that it's bugging him so much. Tried to 'splain it to him.
i once tutored an 18 year old who had already gone through drug addiction (to some serious stuff) and rehab, so he had some major regrets...
he now sincerely wanted to learn math but he'd killed off a lot of brain cells
I totally get that. I had a friend in school who used to turn down hard drugs (LSD) to preserve his brain cells. It was his way of joking to get out of it, but there's truth in it.
when i used to see kids smoking cigarettes, i'd be like, "if you want to kill yourself, at least choose a quicker, less painful method"
i mean when i was their fellow student
GAHHHHH!!! I just listed the home of a smoker. Yellow blinds, overwhelming smell...I asked her to quit smoking in the house, but she just couldn't.
yucky
Believe it or not, only 2 or 3 people mentioned it in the feedback. I was a bit put out. How can I counsel someone if they don't realize it's an issue? She's nose-blind to it.
i would definitely not buy a house that smelled like that
in this market? i'm sure it'll still sell
i cannot think of a pangram for today's spelling bee
33 showings and 4 offers in 48 hours. To be fair, some of them offered before they saw it.
I made them see it in person, and 2 pulled out.
i would sell if i had some other place to go, my current mortgage is < rent in my hood. I wouldn't be able to afford to live here if i didn't buy 10 years ago
i tried "orthopathy" but apparently that's not a word, hmph
That's the case with so many people. You're going to spend more on the new home
i am looking at new construction. at least i will know the price, no bidding wars.
True. They aren't dealing at all now, and there are construction delays, but you get what you want.
new 55+ community. more than a bit chary of association fees though
Well yes. But I have a friend living in one and she loves it! Everyone is retired or close to it, more free time, and always doing things.
the old folks part is only part of the new community
this is difficult without e
The 4th column C is kicking my ass!
well, it's a true puzzle, largely devoid of plurals and no past tenses or geunds.
i jjust am sick of disappearing words.
pardon me while i turn off the evening news. i can't stand it.

Good morning. Clue for ro 6/24 pls

Thanks - both clues helped
Clue for ca7.40, please.
ca 7/40 - begins with a vehicle, ends with a bug
Yeah Bea, I guess the wealthy rule the world.
as Karl Marx predicted/observed
Fireworks - have a good day / evening everyone and thanks for the clues.
congrats...
Not sure that is the case this time, Molly. Interest rates are very low. People have banked and saved their incentive money. I think it is the middle class taking advantage of this. IMO
Middle class people lose jobs and then lose their homes and the wealthy buy them up cheap. Sad.
Bea, people who have no jobs are not banking and saving their incentive money.
No, but those who do have jobs are and have been. Those who do not have jobs are using unemployment and govt incentives including the madnate that you can not be evicted,if you do not pay yourrent.
A lot of the people who own those rental homes are middle class people. Theya re looking at losing those properties because they can not pay the mortgage on them.
au 7/40 please?
don't have it...
au + a stone misspelled.
