will have to wait for tomorrow -- goodnight everyone
phatom - delicate
eodal
oops - rubbish monkeys
Es7
this grid brings "Old Macdonald had a farm" to mind
are the 4 N words obvious or strange? I cannot find any of those buggers.
Oh hi IG!
Hi, French! how's things?
we are anticipating the arrival of Elsa tomorrow
?
hurrican/ trop storm Ela
Elsa
it hit Florida last night
think it will get up to your area? Haven't been following it
yes the track shows it will run up the east coast, I'm in coastal Virginia close to NC border
wow! Hurricane party!
true dat
I used to live in Florida - We had Hurricane parties, if we did not evacuate. Cat 1 def a party
i know the feeling, spent 15 years living on Outer Banks of NC
the 2 NA 6/24s look like mis-spelled yummy Mexican food
oh I just realized you can plural the co5 aussie greeting
yes I have the na chips words
my fav diacritical mark is in the grid :)
I have no reply to that
you are not a fan of diacritics?????
didn't know it was a thing
it's a name for the little marks over/under certain letters
like a tilde?
haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
yes, and penalty box for you!
hey its just us, I think, so just give me probation
I have to leave for work now, so it's just you! No one will ever know. Bye IG
see ya later!
morning! looking for stats for the rightmost E
ES 7/36 ?
morning, Dan
Thanks, IG.
how is oodle not a word?
Isn't it coddle?
only the plural, Mark. Morning, Bea!
morning all
Hi, Hurshy
Morning, all :-)
how's life une?
i saw that our favorite volcano was spewing ash
Hot and dry, Hursh :-)
hot and humid here lol
thanks from a couple hours back IG
Yw, Dan - Hi, Une
We had a giant thunderstorm here last evening. More to come for the remainder of the week
that do- seems to be sadly under-used
I am not liking this grid. 56 left, seven 7s left and I'm just not seeing the words
fishing for clues, Matty :)
Same here, Matty......not seeing the 7s at all.....
bbl
oooo i found a ci7, my first 7 today
.... es7/36 from earlier
i also had found a co7, related to a pain drug
I think they are hard to see because the aren't 5's with a suffix.
le7 is!
Ah...I hadn't made it to the Ls yet.
found li7 now as well
Funny, that LE. We had it yesterday. I will be wearing the tiara again today.
i thought the tiara was for having your name in the grid
That is my last name.
And now I only have 1 seven to find.
ohhhhh
well i still have 3 sevens to find
we had the le7 yesterday? my memory is terrible
We had the le5
aha! got it
so bea, what are the other 7s you have?
not seeing the es7 ...
I found the li7, which was my last.
.. es + break the rules
yes i got those
have ci, co, es, le, li
2 co's, da,
That should give you all of them.
no, there's one other, but thank you, i got the da!
another co
3 co then?
no, just 2
ok, so since i had one, one more
Do you have de?
no :) thanks
got it!
watch my missing co7 be a super normal word, lol
Its not.
i'm still working on the es7 lol
It is a UK spelling
play unfair, shirl
i have the UK spelling with the pain drug
it is the other one that i have missed
No, this is the UK spelling of hokie's ailment.
hmm, i dunno if i knew hokie HAD an ailment
but i will try to think of ailments
She can't eat gluten.
OH
ok wow i guess i did not know that that was the UK spelling of that!
I have the ES if clues wanted
I'm glad that "delish" is not in the enable dictionary
Yeah, but there some strange DE words that pop up, Harry
26 L's???? Really???
does
dees
rob, why?
sorry
first pass done, 52 to go. just missing that middle tile.
duh
nm
hello....
hiya pen
hey, Harry....
'morning
hi welki...
hi welki
took me two days, but finally connected (and on hold) with the irs - fun times
I got four dots. welki only got 3. just saying.
Rob...why? Hurshy, ever the clever one. : D
oh no welki. be prepared for an hour or more on hold. they are the absolute worst.
bummer, welki....
i know, harry - this is a call back, the first time, it took more than just two days to connect
my sympathies :(
social security is a walk in the park, compared to the irs :D
Social security takes number two place for absolute worst. They keep you on hold for forty minutes and more.
I can ignore SS for another few years.
if you call the SS folks in maryland, i'd agree - i call my "local" office in montana and it's not that bad. but i had such a good rapport with a couple of the folks in md that i have direct numbers to call now
i already don't like this grid...too many vowels....
yes - getting a personal connection is ideal
but a C with all those vowels gets you several words :)
i know they are there, just haven't found them yet... ;o)
It was a fun grid.
for you, perhaps, LOL....
Off to work...
hi bea bye bea
I never think of these grids as "fun". Challenging, yes but not fun.
hi/bye bea
bye, Bea....
oh i think some grids are fun....not this one....
We may never find out why Bea was wearing the tiara yesterday
harry, you get the tiara today!
ok.
why is this?
ho4 is in the grid. I give the guys six packs instead.
because part of your "name" is in the grid - and saying so may or may not be a pb violation on my part
oh I get it. ty - I will wear it with pride.
very twinkly
I'm like rain man with sparkly stuff.
Oh he WANTS the tiara. I see.
:)
38 to go. gotta make coffee. bbl!
bye, harry
bye, Harry...
i agree with you pen not a fun grid today
never fun for me when there are so many vowels....
this grid does not even look like it has as many as it says it does
looks like refrain from Old Macdonald
exactly...
thats for sure!
i got the first column e greyed

yea!!....quite an accomplishment!
so apparently the next column is the es7
i'd bet you could hear my gigantic sigh of relief all the way to maine :)
the ES 7 is from the middle E...third column....
yes, LOL....
dash ashen
h i e s c that column is middle and i dont have the es7
sorry, i am wrong, i think....ES 7 is from the fourth column...ea 4 is from the middle E>...
yes it has to be
well I have to go....bbl to find my last 35....bye all...
want a clue for the ES, Fan?
this grid isn't too bad except for the C's
The C's...it's always the blasted C's
I have 2 CA6/21s I simply cannot find. I feel like I've tried every possible combination (clearly I haven't but it feels that way)
Ca6/21 includes spanish house, other have a beer.
alas, casale is only a word in italian :)
rearrange your italian word
well then
thank you
Matty, that trendy green leafy vegetable if it were spelled with a different first letter and initials of where Brazil is

100% chance of rain tomorrow
lots of u turns, in front of traffic coming OUTof the same road. i don't get it...
there has been a string of difficult grids IMO

as6 and dustbin are words that have fallen out of use, so they are hard to see
that's true for me....
I doubt my youngest son has ever heard the word dustbin
probably not....
don't you think the word we use is just the north american term where as as 6 and dustbin are more common in europe?
i think so....i see them in the British mysteries I read...
growing up, we referred to the trash can.....we did not have a fireplace....
I know my scottish cousin used dustbin
I just Know Dustbin Hoffman
engaging in some trash talk, ru?...
no.. just trying to be receptacle
(insert canned laughter)

Sorry, did that rubbish you the wrong way

You mentioned Dustbin Hoffman. I prefer Debris Winger
:D
That reminds me of the excavation field worker I used to work with whose field notes included "removed debree" and that his equipment was "idol for the day"
they're now writing for several web-site news pages. the editing is terrible.
I can't believe the horrible spelling and grammar I see on the internet. What has become of spell check?
down to 13 - 8 of which are 6's and 7's. Time to list
Oh no, we are starting to look like Moolingwa and Carla
when she was in grade one my oldest granddaughter solemnly told me that her teacher said it was ok if everything was spelled wrong. It didn't matter to anyone as long as she was understood. Unfortuneately that misconception seems to have become fact.
had a conversation with my massage therapist today about spelling...some of that skill seems to be innate....some people will turn out to be better spellers than others even with the same schooling....
clue for the ca 6/21's please?
small spanish house...
ci 7 anyone?
help with le7 or li7 please
ty -- we never see those words around here, so I never think of them

da 7 please?
nan, about the spelling
is that a clue?
my daughter is in first grade and her teacher also says spelling correctly does not matter as they learn
it follows, if my daughter had to stop and spell, say, "thorough" correctly she'd never write anything
i don't have DA 7....
they learn as they go :)
it's one of 5 i have missing after going through the list...
that must be my missing 7 then
it turned out that our granddaughter had misunderstood what the teacher had said. Thankgoodness. As an elementary school teacher I think that is a poor precedent to set.
does anyone have the first ca 6/21?
no - that is one of my 3 missing ones too, pen
it's a small wheeled carriage in the Philippines
/// ca + almost Bart Simpson's sister ... just change a vowel\
i am only missing that one and the 7....
no idea who bart sister is
hmmm....thought i knew what his sister's name was, but it didn't work....does he have two sisters?
got it...
ty, dose...
another clue please?
don't get or read any comics
nor watch them
Bart's sister is the same as Elvis's daughter...
c + IPA beer + french possessive word (two leters)....
but you need to change the first vowel
it's TV, nan.....cartoon show ...
... not in the last thirty years? ...
Another clue...first 4 sounds like trendy green leafy vegetable with a C not a K + first two of the day after Friday
Woot FW - have a good evening all :)
congrats and bye!
I don't watch Disney movies but I know of the characters from discussion with others and reading
i have never seen a full episode of the Simpsons but I know a few character names...
I don't follow hockey, but I know about our local team, the players names and other things from watching the news
ty pen and molly
can someone put me out of my misery and clue the da 7?...it's my last word....
sorry -- know there is a show called the Simpon, but I don't watch it or any other cartoons, for that matter. Don't feel my life has been diminished in any way by this :)

Oh come on Pen, it was FUN! and EASY! : D
yw....congrats....
it was fun for Bea but not for me.. ;o)
hate grids with lots of vowels....
4's and 5's weren't too bad, but needed the list and your help for the 6's and 7's

looked up CI7. I never ever see that one.
FFS, missed the british spelling of my auto-immune disease.
... and done .... may I offer any clues for anyone? ...
ca6 the last one?
... spanish word ... looks like litle castle or little house .... though I'm sure that's not the correct translation
k, monkeyed it -- always thought it strange that some foreign words work and others don't
... someone problably wrote an anthropolical study of South American or Mexican slums and used the word in an English language journal ....
I'm missing the first ca6,21
... I clued it as ca + a miss-spelling of Bart Simpson's sister's name .... just change the vowel
thx dos
... you're welcome
... any more?
... ah well ... England and Denmark going to extra time ... so I should probably pay attention ... luck to all who continue the struggle
Hi all.
The CA 6,21 just means small house in Spanish, and it's used commonly in the U.S, at least here in CA, for a little secondary house on your property. It has nothing to do with slums, nor is that word used in Latin America to refer to poverty.
that's how i understand it. not slums, nor SA
that's as twisty a word as i recall in a grid
worm-shaped little house
Words used commonly on the west coast are not always used commonly in other parts of the US or in Canada or the many other places people play from
That's true of other parts of the U.S. too. I'm from the East Coast and no one here knows what a hoagie is.
here = California
there are RV resorts that only allow Class A motorhomes and you can like buy a site there and build a little tiny house on it to park your motorhome next to and live there for a while. anyhoo, they are commonly called coach house, carriage house, or ca6/21.
A hoagie is Philly-speak, we moved to Seattle from Philly when I was little. Hoagies became subs, soda became pop, paper bags were sacks, my clothes weren't kept in a bureau, but a dresser.
funny, sub is NY/NJ for hoagie
we mostly say subs, but hoagie is not foreign by any means
Is There a Difference Between Hoagies, Heroes, Subs, and Grinders? https://www.thekitchn.com/hoagies-hero\nes-subs-and-grinders-whats-the-deal-wi\nth-these-sandwich-names-222944
i think many if not most of the players here know the US only through their news outlets. Which is only what generates ratings.
how did that link not break the chat? did dr. god fix something?
ooh wait- heros...i never ate then when i was a kid in NJ so maybe that was the word, but i think it was subs
Oh, zoom call in 3 min. bbl
rehero, i've sondered if it didn't come from the greek gyro. grinfers are new england, and oven grinders are toasted
yeah, I think heroes = gyros, which a lot of people mispronounce
i rarely eat lunch meat. i have some on hand now for 100 degree days, but today had cereal instead. with fruit. quick and easy
did you finish, carla?
no, hero sandwich is not the same as a gyro. grinders, subs, torpedoes, italian, and hero are all the same sandwich.
all of the same. the sandwiches may be served hot or cold. The names are typically regional. They have nothing to do with the Greek gyro Which is completely different. It is a very specific meat or combination of meats with a cucumber sauce and onion in a pita.
I agree. I don't seem much relationship between a gyro and a hero, other than their similar pronunciation.
if you go into an arby's her and ask for a gyro you confuse them. then when you say the meal number they say oh! you mean a Jy-roh.
All parts of our country have different jargon. A sub/hoagie is a grinder in Connecticut. Soda/pop is tonic in Boston.
Oh and a sloppy Joe is tavern somewhere out west.
clue for the center E pls
ea4/6
what about the 4th column E? Anyone know the stats on that one?
es7/36
gracias Gillie
ty
Hmm. Is that ES7/36 a normal word?
NM

Oh, the ever present never mind
Second co7/36 please?

Thanks!
