they are insanely expensive things now--coil-less, bunches of layers that include cooling, memory foam, and a few other things I have no idea what they do.
it's been years and years since we've bought a new mattress.
'morning, from the gal who got rid of the ridiculously expensive mattress and is now sleeping on a hybrid mattress bought online. my hips thank me.
what is a hybrid mattress?
All I know is they sold me the second they laid me down on it, gave me the remote, and told me to push the "zero-G" button. :)

Ah, mattresses. I'm having shoulder issues: biceps tendinitis and possibly other rotator cuff stuff. I have a zillion year old Temperpedic. Inertia and fear of being overwhelmed by choices need to be overcome.
according to the mattress mavens, it's "old school," but it suits us, and is made in canada. edges are solid, crossy - that was one of the complaints we had about kingsdown
yea, Scrabby, it is a pre-set, and the head of the bed comes up just s, as does the fot of the bed, then it add a slight arch for your legs. I swear I could feel my entire spine decompressing. lol

I had to do something, My apnea was destined to have me swallow my own tongue one night using a regular flat mattress.
scrabs, that was another problem with our fancy-shmancy set - i needed a ladder to get up on the bed. the platform lowers it, and we opted for a lower mattress, too - so i can actually sit down on the bed, and my feet reach the floor when i get up (i'm sooo short)

yes, but it gets very tiresome. I just hate the feeling of having air rammed down my throat all night by what is basically a very expensive vacuum cleaner that pushes air.
Plus, I am a "side sleeper" with a beard. makes it very difficult with the mask.

here, the market is so hot, the average time a home sits for sale is about seven days before it is sold, and in most cases a bidding war develops. A friend I work with sold his home for 40K above asking, and the buyer bought all the furniture as well!

They had about 20 beds there from about 10 different manufacturers, and I could "test drive" them all.
