Do you have the J or the Us? I don't see those.

5:58 am

The j is one I hadn't seen before.

5:58 am

Easy to clue?

5:59 am

It sounds like a type of Jewish person.

The U7 ends in to "have supper"

6:00 am

Git the J, TY.

6:00 am

Thank you!

GM all

6:01 am

6:22 am

6:31 am

Good for you.

6:37 am

I must go to work now. ENjoy the day.

8:11 am

They already were.

8:12 am

ur5/12

8:12 am

I guess it was more clue blurting.

8:12 am

got it, thx hursh

8:15 am

happy Eid, if we have any muslims among us and since it is thus fittingly in the grid today! lol

8:16 am

I'm in on anything that is called The Festival of Breaking Fast

8:18 am

Other than you have to fast first...

8:19 am

I can't believe they fast for a month and then feast on things like mutton. I can think of better things to feast on.

8:20 am

Maybe after fasting for a month, mutton sounds good

8:22 am

I've never cared for lamb.

I love lamb, but didn't learn to like it until I'd been in the UK a few years - it's far more popular here than it was at home

8:28 am

I can't get past the smell of the stuff. Ugh

I don't think I've ever had lamb

8:32 am

good morning all

8:33 am

I don't think molly has ever had lamb either -- it doesn't smell. It is mutton that stinks.

8:33 am

i've never even seen mutton!

8:34 am

Mutton is just an older sheep.

8:34 am

i know

8:34 am

I am talking about mutton. Others brought up lamb.

8:34 am

i've just never been around anyone cooking or eating it

ok, I've never had lamb or mutton

8:35 am

they used to serve it once a month in my university dorm, but you could smell it cooking from 2 blocks away. A lot of us hit the campus pizza shop those nights.

8:35 am

i wonder why mutton smells bad? weird

8:36 am

It's something about the fat

8:38 am

Wow Nan. And here I thought my university cafeteria had crappy food.

It can be fatty, tis true, though it depends on which cuts you get. The first time I was ever served roast pork in the UK I was asked if I wanted crackling. I asked what it was - it's the pork fat/rind all crisped up. I thought they were trying to kill me ... but it's absolutely and utterly delicious (when done well)

8:38 am

in Little House in the Big Woods they talk about those cracklings

8:39 am

Yes, crackling is yummy. So is pork belly.

8:39 am

phantom: harridan

Oh yes - and sooo much tastier than more expensive cuts of pork

8:39 am

'morning, all

8:39 am

You guys are making me queasy. I just can't chow down on fat

Pork fat is no doubt terrible for you but it is delicious

8:39 am

me neither molly

8:40 am

yeah i dont like fat either

I had pork belly once and it was delish

8:41 am

I used to make time with a guy who would take all the fat I cut off my steak and eat it. Blech

8:41 am

Ya'll eat bacon?

ewww, and lol at "make time"

8:41 am

i love bacon

8:41 am

i don't eat meat at all anymore, but when i did, i never did like bacon. the flavor/smell of it is good but the texture... can't deal

8:41 am

Yeah, I eat bacon and that is the extent of my fat eating

mmm, bacon

8:42 am

and don't even get me started on sausage... so gross

Mmmmm...bacon. Also, steak fat when it's all caramalised

8:42 am

Pork belly is not all fat. It does have meat in it. Pork belly tacos are delish!

I love me a pork product :)

8:42 am

i love breakfast sausage otherwise not so much

8:42 am

Truth be told, I do a lot of fat trimming on my bacon before cooking

8:42 am

Me too, matty.

I don't like breakfast sausage, like the patties and links, but I like the other sausage

8:43 am

yeah patties and links yum

no, yuck

8:44 am

since i've learned more about pigs, eating them now seems to me the same as eating dogs

8:44 am

Sausage is like the hamburger of pork

8:44 am

A local meat market makes their own ground sausage. It is the best sausage around.

8:45 am

but what makes sausage grosser than ground beef is the addition of the various spices

8:45 am

not crazy about pork either. Make breaded pork tenderloin once in a while just for something different, but that's about it.

Anyone here tried Scrapple? Delicious, but you really don't want to know what they used to use to make it

why would that make it grosser? spices are supposed to add flavor. my cousin can't eat sausage because she's allergic to sage or something.

8:46 am

I would love to have a professional-grade meat grinder. And the spices are what make sausage better than ground beef. What is gross about sage and thyme>

8:46 am

I've got a pork butt in the freezer. Will make pulled pork next week.

8:46 am

well, hokie, i'm one of those people that have trouble with putting certain things together. not everything, but like, for example, i love chocolate, and i love peanut butter, but i do NOT like them together

8:46 am

sort of like haggis matty?

8:46 am

I can't get past the looks of it, matty. Same with head cheese and souse.

8:47 am

Imagines Hurshy is one of those people who cannot have different foods touching on her plate

I think scrapple is a southern thing but I've never had it

8:47 am

pork butt???

Well, haggis is sheep, Scrapple is a Pennsylvania pork product. It's called scrapple for a reason (though store bought scrapple is no longer made of scraps)

8:47 am

uggh i dont even like the smell of it!

oh, not southern then

8:47 am

i like sage and thyme, but my brain expects meat to taste like meat, not sage and thyme, and it revolts at the unexpected

8:47 am

same principle, different animal

8:47 am

no, i can have different foods touching on my plate, and i like lots of casseroles. it's only certain things, idk why

8:48 am

Pork butt is actually a cut of meat from the shoulder of the hog.

when I first moved to charlotte, I kept seeing livermush. still haven't tried it.

8:48 am

That is interesting Hurshy. You must never have like Thanksgiving turkey then. Most of them are heavily seasoned

8:48 am

hokie same here

8:48 am

ha, not in my family they're not, molly, lol

8:48 am

i don't think i wanna know what livermush is

8:48 am

bzz who cares its not good

I just googled it, shirl, I don't think you wanna know either

8:49 am

Pork shoulder isn't good?

8:49 am

I cannot imagine turkey with no seasoning. How bland that must be.

8:50 am

2nd column i stats pls?

8:50 am

my mom has NO concept of seasoning, everything is bland as can be. she is a terrible cook. so, i actually like a lot MORE flavor than i was used to getting from her growing up.

I love me some pulled pork barbecue

8:50 am

only edible liver to my mind is goos or duck and then in small amounts on a slice of baguette and served with a nice late harvest wine.

https://honest-food.net/wprm_print/279\n06 - here's an authentic scrapple recipe (most modern recipes use normal pork cuts)

8:50 am

I'm guessing there was no gravy either since that has seasoning as well.

8:50 am

*goose

8:51 am

bzz no pork butt though i am not sure if i have had a prok shoulder or not actually

8:51 am

Are you a vinegar or ketchup bbq fan, Carla?

8:51 am

we did have gravy, but the kind you make from a packet of powder and mix with water...

The recipe I just linked to uses the pork head

8:51 am

In the UK turkey isn't normally seasoned with anything other than salt and pepper. I cook mine covered with butter and bacon and make sure I buy a good quality turkey which has more flavour

I'd say more vinegar, bea

8:51 am

You eat pulled pork? Ham?

Here's an example instruction: Set the pig's head in a large kettle and cover it with water. Bring this to a boil and skim off all the scum that floats to the surface. When this is done, add the carrots, onion, bay leaves, juniper and black peppercorns. Simmer this, adding more water if the level drops below the pig's head, until the meat wants to fall off the bone, about 3 hours. Carefully remove the pig's head and pick off all the meat and random bits. I toss the eyes and the palate, which aren't very tasty. Chop everything up very fine, and combine with the spice mix in a bowl.

8:51 am

*Raises hand for ketchup, not vinegar

I know NC has 2 styles of BBQ. I like both. In fact, I like NC BBQ better than all the others, Memphis, KC, TX, etc

8:52 am

I'm from the midwest so I like mine tomato based, but I do like the vinegar based on occasion.

8:52 am

vinegar, ewwww

8:52 am

oh heavens, after reading that I'm sure glad I haven't had breakfast yet.

As I say, most recipes and all store bought scrapple does not use the scraps!

I really don't like hickory smoke flavor, so any BBQ sauce with that is gross

8:53 am

The only thing I use vinegar for is Italian dressing. Otherwise it is for cleaning

8:53 am

It's amazing how different cuisines are. And how different names of cuts of meats are.

I'm sorry for y'all that don't like NC BBQ

8:54 am

2nd column i 3rd column r stats pls and a clue for the j6 pls?

8:54 am

Hickory smoked flavor is good if it comes from an actual hickory smoker. That bottled crap is gross.

8:54 am

i dont like nc bbq either

I'm sorry for you too 😜

8:55 am

in5 and 6 - movies not produced by a major production company?

8:55 am

ty hurshy

8:55 am

I have heard that British cooking is very bland. That must be due to the lack of seasoning use.

8:55 am

ri4/4 is the R, MLF

8:55 am

second column in6.21 and in4.4 Along with hurshey clue, that will get all of them.

8:56 am

still haven't found that ur 7 -- clue please?

8:56 am

lone r middle column?

8:56 am

yes mlf

8:56 am

Ends with another word for eat, nan

8:56 am

me either cyber

ri4/4, mlfan

8:57 am

ja6 ends with Freud term

8:57 am

are you sure hokie all the ri4 words are coming from other places lol

thanks bea

8:57 am

yes we are sure, it is ri4/4

8:57 am

i got it

8:58 am

ty bea

I have all the R's on top, has to be that one

8:59 am

i'm running out of id4s for the L words

8:59 am

i know i finally found it

8:59 am

👍

8:59 am

If you learn to cook it with decent levels of seasoning it's not bland, but it depends on if you only like extremely spiced foods, then it might not suit your taste. I often don't like the American style foods as I find that they all use a strange mixture of spices. It depends on what you're used to. I think the British eat a much wider range of different cuisines than a lot of Americans. 50 years ago, I would have agreed with your comment that British food was bland, but not now

still need 6 L's here, hursh

9:00 am

yeah i need 5

9:00 am

hello...U stats pls

ur 5/12 ur 7/36

9:00 am

ty

9:01 am

not getting ja6?

I think many American flavourings are sweeter than European ones (a generalisation, to be sure) - like, baked beans in the UK are a tomato based sauce, not a molasses based sauce - bbq sauces are less sweet here, etc

9:03 am

mlf...it uses double cons

9:03 am

There is def a difference between Heinz beans and pork and beans

9:03 am

as a European who moved to the US: the US definitely has sweeter flavorings

9:04 am

I mean, who is the nut job that decided to put maple syrup on bacon?

9:04 am

mlf, all you have to do is get two letters from the clue I gave you.

I absolutely hate maple flavoring. the smell makes me 🤢

9:05 am

but I hate mixing sweet and savory, I'm pretty sure the only time that happens in Italian cuisine is with prosciutto and melon, and I can't say that melon is particularly sweet to begin with

it's not on all bacon thank goodness

melon is super sweet!

9:05 am

yeah, I like maple syrup on pancakes or waffles but that's about the end of it. Maybe in cakes. But it's for SWEET food.

9:05 am

i love maple syrup and those maple candies

9:06 am

I should have said cantaloupe, that's what we call "melone"

9:07 am

there used to be a liqueur called Entre Nous that was rye based with maple flavouring -- you would have loved that hurshy

yeah, I was thinking you meant cantaloupe since that's what I've seen with prosciutto. I don't like cantaloupe but I know watermelon is super sweet.

9:07 am

um, well, i've never had alcohol and i hate rye bread, so idk about that

9:10 am

just had a rye bread sandwich for breakfast - it was amazing

9:10 am

egg salad with tomato and red onion

9:10 am

but I respect your dislike, hurshy.

9:10 am

Mmm! Egg salad is yummy.

9:10 am

lol, thanks harry

9:11 am

weird grid.

9:11 am

yes, it is rather odd

9:11 am

Rye bread I don't eat too often

one more n and we have dandelion

9:12 am

I don't like caraway seeds. but w/o seeds, I'm all about rye bread

hey, I never eat rye bread (cue molly)

9:12 am

LOL! @ Carla.

9:12 am

how's that spelt bread doing for you carla

don't eat that either

9:13 am

(don't cry over spelt bread)

lol

9:13 am

if rye bread were meat with just rye and no wheat could you eat it? i mean does rye itself have gluten? i know oats don't

9:13 am

isn't spelt gluten free?

9:13 am

*made, not meat, lol

9:13 am

typing too fast

9:13 am

rye is a type of wheat isnt it?

9:14 am

oh i thought it was a different grain

oats are gluten free, but often grown with wheat so are cross-contaminated. have to buy oat products labeled gluten free.

9:14 am

hurshy the first sentence you wrote sounded like dr. suess. "if rye bread were meat with just rye and no wheat"

yeah, rye is a no go

9:14 am

no - rye is another grain entirely

9:14 am

lol

cheerios has come under fire because they say gluten free but they use oats that may not be so some people were having reactions

9:15 am

:(

9:15 am

Carla, my 5 yo grandson had severe seizures. Seizures bad enough that he went into cardiac arrest. He had to carry an emergency medication to be administered at the first sign of seizure.

9:16 am

seizures from gluten?

spelt has some gluten per internet but I've seen spelt things labeled as GF

yikes, bea

9:16 am

He was also not gaining weight and not gaining in height.

9:17 am

Yes, he is GF and they took him off all seizure meds.

9:17 am

how scary bea

9:17 am

wow, i knew you could get gastrointestinal probs but i had no idea you could get SEIZURES

wow, that is scary

yeah, I haven't heard of that either

9:18 am

phantom: aioli

9:18 am

HIs endocrinologist put the two together.

9:19 am

found an 8!

9:19 am

smart doc!

9:19 am

I tried that one too, hurshy

nice harry

so do they think celiac or wheat allergy, bea?

9:19 am

i've got 13 of the 7s but not 8s

I only have 7 7's and nothing bigger

9:20 am

only 9 7s here

9:20 am

I'm not sure, Carla. I will have to ask daughter.

is that the nurse daughter?

9:20 am

oHO well i see one of the 8s was from the bottom corner O, which i only just reached, so now i have that

9:20 am

Yes.

9:20 am

is that the one you have harry?

9:21 am

yes

yes, just got there myself. easy one.

9:21 am

got that O grey :)

9:21 am

well, the other 8 and the 9 must be from one of these letters: A, D, H, L, or S

still need 1 o there, harry

9:22 am

The other 8 is a dhoozie. =)

9:22 am

oh no, it is a dh??

9:22 am

good morning to you all!

hey dholly!

9:22 am

yes, hurshy

9:22 am

yeppers it is

9:22 am

and with Bea, it's a doozy!

9:22 am

oh dhear.

9:22 am

i'm so glad we have morewords

9:22 am

hi Hokie!!

9:22 am

9:22 am

9:22 am

not that big a dheal.

9:23 am

Actually it isn't bad other than the start.

9:23 am

i only remember like dh5s, dhoti and dhole

impressive monkeying, harry. not even sure where to start after dh

9:23 am

Its a type of rug.

9:23 am

and this word isn't even close to those

9:23 am

just follow the tiles - it's not complex

9:23 am

but get it quick!

got it

9:24 am

and it got me the 7 which I hadn't had :)

9:24 am

Good clue, dolly.

9:24 am

50 here

9:24 am

have a good one, bea

9:26 am

being a frog isn't all that its croaked up to be

9:26 am

yes but kermit always comes around to being glad to being one

9:27 am

:)

9:27 am

isn't he always complaining about being green?

9:27 am

he's like the psalmist

9:27 am

starts with complaints but then usually turns around to a positive note

9:28 am

it's not easy being green, that song ends with "it's beautiful, and i think it's what i want to be"

9:28 am

A psalm to kermit, the pig is my beloved I shall not want

9:29 am

oh hey look there's that same le5/14 again that we had the other day

well I'll be darned. got it the other day by myself. missed it today.

9:29 am

ty - got it

9:29 am

it's a funky one

46 left after first pass

9:30 am

9:34 am

i'm totally lost as to what in the grid you could be referring to

9:34 am

it's a hawaiian tree

hi welk

9:35 am

9:35 am

just finished my last 7

45 and only 9 7s. do we know the 9?

9:35 am

wow md!

9:35 am

no one has mentioned it since i've been here

dolly's good at the big words, that's why she rules at hard room on serpentine

9:36 am

yep and you;re gonna love it, LI 9 and it extends from the 6 LI before it

9:36 am

aww you're so kind Hokie

9:37 am

hmm, the only li6 i have is a plurale

9:37 am

it's after that hurshy

9:37 am

got it!

9:37 am

I hadn't had that li6.

I'm only good at the 4 letter words

9:37 am

think of measuring, putting in a row

LOL, plurale makes me think you're trying to be fancy

9:38 am

just typing too fast again lol

hmm, looks like I need that li6 as well

got the 6 I think

9:39 am

9:39 am

aHA

got it! thx

9:50 am

hi all help with lone R pls

9:50 am

9:51 am

ri4/4

9:51 am

the ur 5 is a vowel dump

9:51 am

ur5 that is a vowelly babblet, ur7

9:51 am

then you eat the ur 7

9:56 am

ty for ri4

9:56 am

Ends in what you do in nice restaurants

9:59 am

9:59 am

Hurshy is really hooked on that vowelly word today

9:59 am

yw!

10:00 am

hi again - breakfast and garden watering done

10:02 am

missing a whole bunch of s words -- and running out of ideas

10:05 am

I haven't had to water the garden in MONTHS

10:06 am

it's been so wet here in MA

10:06 am

we would love some rain -- just no lightning, svp

10:10 am

molly i've said vowelly loads of times before, idk why you haven't noticed til today lol

10:14 am

Ah, one of your many little Hurshyosyncracies

10:16 am

We need rain too, Nan!!

10:20 am

it is so dry here we're getting 5 or more new fires every day and we've already had more than 1200 in the last 2 months

10:21 am

we have to wash the ash off the patio tables and chairs every time we want to use them.

the ash is in our air and we have had air quality alerts for particulate matter for three days. too hazy to see the sun.

10:23 am

are you on the west coast TO?

10:23 am

stuck n a da 7/36- have one meaning fancy men

10:23 am

I know WAshington, Oregon and California are bad too

No, east

10:24 am

didn't know there were fires on the east coast as well

10:24 am

at least we all have masks to wear when we go out in the smoke

10:25 am

da 7 -- like the lazy flower?

10:26 am

yup- thanks nan

10:28 am

The ash in the air on the east coast is being caused by the west coast fires

10:31 am

And paper and cloth masks won't do much to protect you from wildfire smoke. You need a respirator for that.

10:32 am

the masks help keep the particulates out though

10:33 am

I had to put one on just to go out and turn the hose off. We don't just have smoke dust in the air -- you can see the chunks of ash -- table tops look like an ashtray

10:35 am

ur 7/36, pls

10:36 am

ends in another word for to eat

10:37 am

ty nan

10:37 am

not my clue -- I think it was bea's

10:39 am

ty Bea

10:51 am

ty for the da7

10:53 am

Li9 clue pls?

10:59 am

Something you draw straight + _______ from your grave and walk among the living

11:02 am

compound word?

11:03 am

Not really

11:07 am

no idea

11:08 am

working on it among others

11:08 am

if you have 2 points and draw a straight li4, they are li6 (math term)

11:08 am

if you make something li6, you are going to li9 it, but spelled like the brits do something, not like US americans

11:11 am

an equation in the form y = mx + b is a li6 equation, as opposed to, say, an exponential one :)

11:11 am

Okay, what is the difference between what I posted "draw a straight" and what Carla posted? There is only one thing you can do from your grave.

11:11 am

if you're a zombie

11:11 am

lol

11:11 am

Of course. Who else would be doing the ____ing?

11:12 am

got it

11:12 am

and I was just trying to restate a different way in case she was stuck on that

11:12 am

i thought you could also roll over in your grave :D

11:12 am

You can do that IN your grave not FROM your grave

11:12 am

true, true

11:14 am

It might be time for roundy letter, hook letter clues

11:15 am

any ae words?

11:16 am

nope

11:16 am

Sometimes I feel like chat would be ever so much shorter if people would just look at the list

11:17 am

LOL. luckily there's no length cap on the chat

11:17 am

i do both

11:18 am

It is just so amusing. People say they "don't want to use the list". Yet they ask questions like that and people who do look at the list answer, so what is the difference? It's like having someone look at the list for you

11:18 am

that was how i answered hokie's question about ae words as i didnt even know

11:18 am

some probably do

11:18 am

would you rather guess my missing A from there?

11:19 am

which one hokie?

11:19 am

I'm not opposed to looking at the list, I use it all the time. just not ready for the whole thing yet.

11:19 am

Happy Wednesday :)

11:19 am

hi car

11:19 am

hey car!

11:19 am

ried

11:19 am

oops

11:19 am

No thanks. I am not interested in your missing A. You will find it when you find it

11:20 am

Hello everyone.

11:20 am

hi origami

11:20 am

ori!

11:20 am

hi ori, how's it going your way? Hot?

11:21 am

It's only going to be about 97 here today. Livable. How is it in your neck of the woods?

11:21 am

only 97?

11:21 am

cooler today, liveable even.

11:22 am

Try playing The Name Game with Origami : D

11:22 am

hi again -- one of the nicer interruptions -- text from kids and skype from grandkid :)

11:22 am

97 sounds unlivable, hope you manage OK

11:22 am

I live in a really hot climate, Fan. It was 117 here a week or so ago.

11:23 am

ohhhh

11:23 am

calif

11:23 am

awesome cyber

11:23 am

that is hot - it got up to 107 here and that was too hot for me to stick my nose out the door

11:24 am

do you have smoke where you are nan?

11:24 am

smoke and a layer of ash covering everything - ugh

11:24 am

computer says its 84 at the moment

11:24 am

I think it's worse for you folks where that is a really unusually high temp. And we have no humidity.

11:24 am

are you getting any of it, saanich?

11:25 am

I was looking at a fire map of BC the other day. It seems like the whole province is on fire.

11:26 am

no smoke yet but expected soon. As usual we do have the high humidity. That ash sounds like a nightmare nan, it gets everywhere

11:26 am

yikes

11:26 am

help with or8 please

11:26 am

lol - feels like it too, ori

11:27 am

accepted into the ministry

11:27 am

we just a lot more overnight. I am actually packing valuables and photos etc and putting them in storage. There are fires in the woods in the park beside me every night.

11:27 am

ty nan

11:27 am

pt of the or 6 peri

11:27 am

I got it mlf ty

11:27 am

good idea saanich

11:29 am

I had no idea the fires were that close to you, saanich. Stay safe!

11:30 am

saanich is the name of the place, right?

1:24 pm

The Babble Gods have jumped on the Politically Correct Train. They still seem to be riding the Offensive Racial Slur Trolley though.

1:25 pm

wait, what's politically correct?

1:25 pm

enable? lol

1:25 pm

sorry, nan....don't have it yet....

1:26 pm

Oh jeeze. Okay, inclusive of other ethnic terms, aka the hindu words.

1:26 pm

found it....ends with not bro....

1:26 pm

found it

1:27 pm

ty pen - snap

1:28 pm

but this is supposed to be a game in english - to me that means inclusively english

1:28 pm

but where to draw the line?....adios....penne....etc....

1:29 pm

So do you have a problem with the French words too Nan?

1:29 pm

it's like one of the creators was a retired English soldier who lived in foreign lands while serving his kind or queen...

1:29 pm

enable picked foreign words that have meaning in english

1:30 pm

Really? sr7 has meaning in English?

1:30 pm

now, is enable wrong a lot? yeah. There are plenty of words that ought to be recognized, english words!, that are not, especially abbreviations. But from there to saying that enable is politically correct because it includes foreign words you don't know, welll

1:30 pm

never heard of the dh 8 either...

1:31 pm

one can argue that NO loan word is acceptable, but then that removes MOST of the english language

1:31 pm

yes - I don't think any foreign language words should be accepted in a game that is supposedly in english

1:31 pm

but again, the question is... is penne still a foreign word? zucchini? piano?

1:31 pm

to me it's not a question of politically correct....it's a question of foreign words that haven't become commonly used in English....

1:31 pm

Q: How do you make a liberal happy? A: You can't, just keep acting like you're trying.

1:32 pm

the problem is "commonly used" not "foreign"

1:32 pm

because there are plenty of old english words in Enable that haven't been commonly used in a century or more

1:32 pm

you know what redd means?

1:32 pm

not to me....there are English words here that are not commonly used and I have no problem with that....

1:34 pm

but the foreign words enable recognize come from an english dictionary, because they have no english equivalent. Enable doesn't pick them out of a hat.

1:34 pm

Scrabble's rule is...Foreign words are permitted as long as they appear in English dictionaries

1:34 pm

there are many words that come from a foreign language that have been adopted into the english language -- I, at least, am not talking about those.

1:34 pm

there are plenty of words here that aren't in a lot of dictionaries....

1:35 pm

but we get a lot of purely foreign language words and a lot of latin terms that are specific to various disciplines that I don't think should be allowed

1:37 pm

where do you draw the line is the problem

1:37 pm

at least we know enable is an aggregate

1:37 pm

sr 7 is a word that i don't think should be there....only know the word because Molly mentioned the stats and i searched for it....

1:37 pm

and some words are dumb, the ones that don't even have a definition at all, but some are just very very obscure

1:38 pm

and i have no idea what it means....

1:38 pm

oh, I agree. But the problem is not "political correctness;" it's just that some words in dictionaries are so completely obscure that they might as well not be in there

1:39 pm

let's be clear, that word is not in there because someone in charge of Enable said "we need more foreign words to appease people"

1:39 pm

Okay Mael, a thousand apologies for using the term politically correct.

1:39 pm

well i am going back to lurking for a while...bye all....

1:39 pm

7-8 is another example -- anyone know what it means?

1:40 pm

Yeah, me too Pen

1:40 pm

a thousand apologies accepted

1:40 pm

an indian rug apparently

1:41 pm

I think what enable needs is updating

1:42 pm

there are many words that are common now that it doesn't accept: ramen, soba, udon to name three, many abbreviations, perp, info, etc

1:42 pm

but that's a whole other problem

1:43 pm

don't agree that slang, anacronyms and abbreviations should be accepted either

1:44 pm

nor prefixes

1:51 pm

finding a lot of words I thought I had entered last night

1:58 pm

*!*~*!* hagd everyone

origami-If you are willing to rescue, petfinder.org has a few young beagles near you

7:29 pm

i am betting that's what she's talking about, Jeff. Lots of dogs getting rescued during the pandemic!

7:29 pm

Thanks, Jeff. Yes, I have seen those. One is the one I was talking about that has a long list of folks wanting to adopt and one is in a foster-to-adopt situation. There are some that were rescued from the meat trade, and I have a phone call into that org. Thanks. I check petfinder often.

7:30 pm

is that the beagle freedom project ori?

7:31 pm

I think so Leslie. They send some of the dogs up from the LA area to the Bay area.

7:31 pm

yep that's them. lot of lab testing dogs too

7:32 pm

anyone have a clue for the DI6...not the plural money one

7:32 pm

We got our Papillon through petfinder but we were lucky. He had just been listed. He was 2 years old but only weighed 2.8 pounds. He's now 12 and is doing fine, though has lost many teeth

7:33 pm

i volunteer at a regional animal shelter and they can't keep dogs for more than a few days. it's great for the dogs, more difficult for adopters!

7:33 pm

di7/36 the opposite of respect

7:33 pm

7:34 pm

7:35 pm

I have decided that I really want a beagle or comparable dog. My two dogs passed earlier this year (both large hounds) and I need something more manageable.

7:35 pm

Not live + not bro :-)

7:35 pm

They are great dogs but too darn intelligent

7:35 pm

sorry to hear that, ori, that's rough. especially so close together

8:10 pm

daschunds are nutzy

8:10 pm

Yeah, dachsunds are hard. I would opt for a corgi, but the ones I know have been frought with health problems.

8:11 pm

they do have issues

8:11 pm

The corgi/husky muxes are so cute. Maybe they would be less prone than a pure-bred.

8:12 pm

heh - who are we all kidding? when you find your next companion, you'll just know :)

8:12 pm

I think you're right, welki.

8:12 pm

8:15 pm

can't have breeds that hate rap music though :D

8:15 pm

(laughs) cats..

8:16 pm

Maybe I could get a big rottweiler that would attack sources of rap music.

8:16 pm

you'd need a mini-rottie

8:16 pm

That's a breed I wouldn't recommend ori.. it takes a very, very strong person to control a rottie

8:16 pm
