theres actually a CA 7/40 word (?) - now how do I work that into conversation...
Carefully!
still trying to imagine a scenario
nothing against felines, btw
ca 7/40: "I sat there, buried in papers from the church archives, the ca 7/40's extracted from the writings of the fathers of this church were mind boggling to say the least." :)
why isn't catscan a word?
It is two words and CAT is a made up word for CT computed tomography
Computerized Axial Tomography
I can't find the Z and no one has asked for the stat. is this a regular word I can't see?
za5.22
I guess I need to wake up more, but thanks.
It's like the African nation with hout the B
swear I tried that, thanks
SITT!!
phantom stanza
More phantoms than words in this grid
there are a lot of phantoms
Five A's, yee Gods
I have grayed 2/5
which is probably a high % for me and A's
and never mind that they are the smallest two
I've been trying to convince myself for twenty minutes that "admirate" is surely a real word.
There were only a couple I struggled with.
Right? I mean it almost has to be.
i admit I tried to make an AD word
No, but you can go half way to the PB for that
now just need 1 A from each of the 3 open tiles
found 1!
You're one ahead of me!
Oops...two now!
ðŸ˜
now just need 1 A from the top row
Its a 5
That must be one of the "struggled with" words
Yep
hmm. ok will look
oh, we've had that before. I might've tried that eventually. thanks.
not often I finish the A's first. 33 left. still 3 tiles with 4+ left.
I still need an A at the top and an A at the bottom!
Crap...and two in the second row...ughgh.
133 to go, in all rows.
there's an A5 at the bottom too, kinda like the nail polish remover, dauber
Got that one.
Ahh....got the missing A on the bottom.
If someone makes a statement about what they need, is that them asking for a clue, or just making a statement?
only one A bigger than a 5 today
I always assume that people don't want clues unless they ask for them. Might be an old school throw back to the way things used to be here.
In my case, I'm just being crabby.
(Not that I'd ever turn down a clue. :) )
You use a lot of Peanuts language.
if I state it, I'm fine with bea guessing what I'm missing and I think she knows that. I might be asking her to guess.
morning, babblers. i've heard that the area cybernan lives in may (or already has been) on evacuation alert due to fire. not sure where in kelowna she lives, but i'm hoping she and her husband are safe
yikes, maybe she will let us know later
yikes...
hope they are okay
Welki, I have not seen Nan here in a few days. Oh, no.
I think she was here yesterday
She was here yseterday.
Good.
Keeping them in my thoughts.
So far, only Haz and Moolingwa have their pictures on milk cartons
i just looked on the map and see that west kelowna is across the lake from kelowna, so maybe (other than smoke and ash) nan is safe
Are any of your nearby fires contained?
kelowna is rated in "extreme fire danger," though
Nan seems pretty level-headed. I would imagine she has headed for somewhere safer. Sending good thoughts her way.
with the exception of one out of control fire several hours north of here, the rest (more than a dozen) are being held or are in control
Thanks.
the smoke is bad, though - i can't imagine how horrible it must be in british columbia. and nan's husband has lung cancer, so i hope they're able to leave the area, if they haven
done so already
Yes.
ok, I am stuck with 23 left. 6-4-7-5-1. a LOT of big ones left. will take a break. TTFN.
I am struggling to pass halfway.
I did it. See you tomorrow.
good morning everyone - so far we are fine - thanks for the good thoughts. As of last night we are not under evacuation alert -- will have to check - didn't know any part of Kelowna was under alert but noone has come banging on our door and no emergency warning has come in on or cell phones. We have a lot of smoke and ash blowing in from across the lalke and I did pack up a few things ready to go if needed.
Hi Nan, glad you checked in. Hope you remain safe.
Good to hear from you, Nan.
Stay Safe Nan will be thinking about you and praying too
as slong as the fires remain to the south and west of us, we will be fine. Depending on how close the fires get to the west shore of the lake we will be ok -- just need to watch for spot fires started by blowing embers. We have 2 miles of water between us and West Kelowna
stay safe, how harrowing :(
Oh, Nan! How stressful, and on top of your hubby's stuff. I hope the fire stay away. Winds are tricky, and everything is so dry. You both are in my prayers, too!
Thank you for checking in Nan. Terrifying times for you. Hopefully all will be well.
The smoke isn't as bad now as it was last night, so hopefully things are getting under control. There is a bit of a breeze -- having lived in Southern Alberta, I wouldn't dare call it a wind
glad you're okay, nan
wow Nan that's scary. I hope it stays away from your side of the lake!
things are so bad
between the fires, floods, haiti earthquake and hurricane coming, afghanistan, yemen, the uighurs... the list goes on
at least no toilet paper shortages
ha
it's hard not to get bogged down by all the horrible things happening, and easy to forget all the good
like the wonderful he6/7 I just found. dig it.
well that's partly because of knowing how unevenly distributed the good and bad are
good day all. stay safe nan.
There are a lot of good things going on in the world. You just don't hear about them because the news always reports the bad things.
*snapping her fingers and singing, 'the most effectual, t.c.!*
it's also because the bad is pretty damn bad, these days
And dooming and glooming about the bad things only sends more negative vibes out.
there are some "good news" sites out there, i know, i've occasionally seen stories from them
is the za 5 something e have had before?
i don't recall ever seeing it before, but it's probably been in grids before
ty welk i have not found it yet
i've never seen it before welks
I clued it earlier.
bzz how was your weather last night?
i qualified it, ru, because the last time i wrote, 'i've never seen it in a grid before," i was told it had been in grids several times previously
does the nation start with b?
No with a Z
really.. i'd think i'd remember it
not this particular word, ru
i mean, the actual you said it has a b in it?
yeah just in the middle
got it ty
hello friends. feeling HIGHLY fancy - babbling from a comfy chair in a nice cafe
congrats on being fancy :)
lololol. There will be NO living with me after this
that's quite a reaction to a fancy cafe visit!
is it in Paris?
truf
uh, truf?
okay, i just got done with 11 days of working.... sorry, trif
lol, not at all. glamourous hanover mass
sounds like you really deserve a rest TO!
another musikfest in the history books
I agree with hurshy - you need a rest there, TO!
i only steyd till 1 this AM
oh is that all?
I think we need to order you back to bed, maam!
yes we had to take down the stages
and put our sound gear away
oh that is a ton of work!
i only took down chairs at two then disaamebled one, here were 5 of us doing that one. did not stay for the after party though
*cues up the load out*
do you keep all the staging, or does it all go onto festival trucks and on to the next place?
do we have the 8? stats?
hehehe welk
we own the back line and the pipe and drapes. the rest belongs to the sound companies. the structures i think are ours, but they are taken down starting today
still looking for that he 6-7 that was called
and the za 5
it's like a slang term from i think the 20s, he6
wowza TO. That is so much to manage
it's a compound word
that jazz sax player is really a he* ***! they would say
oh i love that he6! haven't thought of it in years
i finally remembered that it counts, after several times seeing it in past grids
i stopped in in my way to take a long hike to decompress, while it's still coolish. later, all
be good to yourself, TO
hound the he, ty
i was pretty ot of it sat night but 8 hours sleep and it's all good today

and phantom seance - spooky
76F and 93% humidity. I am drenched.
ooh, bottom row gray!
Is it raining there?
very cloudy, it sprinkled a little right when I got to the garage doors
So, I take it YOU are not playing Babble somewhere glamorous.
definitely not. not sure I've ever played anywhere glamorous.
Carla, do you have any house showings yet?
had quite a few on Sat. and one yesterday. under contract now.
Wow! God for you!
Good
closing at end of Sept so we have a bit of time to pack and find somewhere else.
wow carla - that didn't take long - congrats
thanks nan and bea
someone tried at 8:02 this morning to schedule a showing for 8:00-8:30am (automated system). um, were they waiting out on the street?
just noticed -- we Canadians get the crown today :)
I was like, where is canuck
but O Canada, you are right
bzz and hokie thunderstorm here last nigh didnt last too long thankfully. Power stayed on
ah 5 clue pls?
don't look behind and you might get it
<----Time for me to go...
Damn, you didn't take long to pack up and go once the last kid went to college.
duh ty
He7/40 please?
bye bzz
I know, we feel a little bad but didn't want to lose this opportunity to sell the house.
Jazzy guys Une
I think you mean cool, jazzy guys
Your kid will be like poor Ninny Threadgood. He will come home and home will be gone.

Rank Stranger (I will be shocked if anyone else knows that song)
unexpected development of new computer - it rings when my phone rings
have to figure out how to turn that off
What an annoying default setting
yeah, I just let it, but then sometimes it keeps ringing while I'm talking and the other person will say, what is that
not exactly a default, it comes from entering your apple ID for imessage I think.
Oh wait, it can't be a default. You would have to have set it up by entering your phone number
As for the song, I know Wayfaring Stranger but not that one.
i mean i assume i did put in my number when i set up the computer, not knowing it was going to do that
but it turned out based on internet guidance that i had to tell my PHONE not to ring other devices, rather than adjusting the computer settings
I wondered again to my home in the mountains. where in youth's early dawn, I was happy and free. (can't rem. the next line)
i guess my devices already knew each other were there because they are both using the same Apple ID
aha, makes more sense, hurshy
now, could i get the stats for the 8?
I don't have it. did someone say it was an S?
(now as in "now that i have that sorted" lol)
4-2-3-3-1
RR CC SS T P MM L C H
se8/45
not seraphim
I might be dyslexic
maybe something with the 7 prefix
yes, that is it!
7 opera song
Hi all. Any clue for that se 8 please?
It's clue blurting time
well you see i knew she was about to ask lol
thx, hurshy
Then you should go ahead and blurt all the long words and any that are hard to see
oh are people about to ask for those too?
Got the se 8. Now need some stats for 7s please. Ty.
the ones i have are: ca7x2, he7, im7, la7, pi7
Ty
Will look
name that proper noun! greek goddess
those are all I have as well
Athena
ding ding ding!!!
The obvious proper noun - that country that quite a few babblers live in
o canada!
i had sort of thought that might count in the grid, actually, because maybe like the canada goose, but i guess it stays proper for that purpose
there must be two he7s
Yep, I tried it before mentioning it here
oh really? interesting
I have he7/32, I saw a he7/40 clued
yes, it's the 7/40 that i have and clued
oho i remembered it!
hah, I got it now hurshy!
^5
good clue, tricky
:)
I think I may be going down the wrong rabbit hole - I am thinking perhaps the he words do NOT begin with bonce (the body part with hair on the top of it)?
yeah, not that matty
indeed, neither of them does
it's a pun, really :)
Oooh - found the 7/40 - it's groovy man!
the 7/32 couldn't anyway, points wise
the other he7 is a greek word
do not have the he7/32. ok, will look along that line, thx
it can only have one 2 point tile, which is the H
ergo, no D
got it, thx. not a lot of options with that point total
I'm a classics nerd so I always find the he7/32
it's so nice when the point total narrows the options that nicely
now that was a sentence for which the hero of northanger abbey would mock me...
the A that has TWO A from it, i have one of them which is an4/4. does anyone have the other one?
why yes, hurshy, it is simply another an4/4
two an4/4
sometimes asking for the clue is all it takes to find it haha
It's a bit retentive ;:)
yes, very odd how that works
you ask for the clue and then it just hits you in the face
in that vein, I'm missing 3 7s! maybe they will magically become apparent
ditto
still need 2
4-2-3-2
which one have you got that we didn't just go over, hokie?
found an unexpected M
i'm at 0-3-3-3
M7 you mean?
hurshy I was wondering that myself since you listed all the ones I had at 7 left
no, M5 proper noun - have not found any other 7s
but you have 8 and we have 7
ca2, he2, im, la, pi
cax2, hex2, im, ir, la, pi
ah, thought you had the ir
got it, thanks!
that one took me a while to go in a different direction
thanks !
that superlative will be the end of me
but of course
that's cause you're the maelest
heh
10 left!
I still can't see the Z, I bet it's obvious and I'm just word blind
have the ca 7/32 - stats for the other ca 7 please?
za5 = an african country minus a B
same, nan
they are both ca7/32
thanks hurshy! not obvious
I always look for the OTHER african country that is also a currency
me too
but now that i got ir7, i have no vowel words left which defeats my fun of spelling something with my remaining letters
are either ca7's combo?
they are both plurals, so they have sing. 6's if that's what you're asking
no
oh sorry yes i was thinking "compound"
hokie is right
yeah i was thinking to words put together
Gosh i am not getting any of these 7s. Can someone clue me the easiest one to get? Ty
I also need the Z word please. Ty.
pi7 sea robbers
z word was just clued
the one I have is a homophone for a martial art
ty for the p6/7
*ca 7 that is
lue for the other ca 7 please?
Super wonderful hurshy. Ty
Got the six and 7
looks like a religious word, nan
the other one sounds like a word for like a saloon/bar, minus an N
Z word was clued as an african nation and i can only think of zanzabar and there are not two zs in grid. Hmmm
not getting the ca7 martial art
i just managed to monkey it somehow
haha hokie and i went wildly different ways with our clues
MLF, normally ka7
ty hurshy and
hokie
im6/7 are normal words
ty carla and hurshy
and so are la6/7 if you know things in the medical field
so is everyone still missing 3x 7?
does the religious word start with animal that meows?
took me a while to get yours, hursh. minus an N and diff vowel in last syllable
no, we're missing 2 mostly i think
yes, mlfan
cyber i am missing 7
I am still not finding the z word. Is it a 7?
no only 5
ohhh, I found another 7
an african country minus the b
ca7/40
cax2, hex2, im, la, pi - missing?
Is the z a seven? Or 6? Or what? I dont see zaire or zanibar in grid..
there are 3 ca/7
its a 5 mkg
and I found the last 7 too! la7
I was fiddling around with the milk prefix
Darn. I am lost. Ok,so i need the z word if possible with another clue please. Ty.
ca7 x3, he7 x2, la7 x2, pi7, im7, ir7
is the 3rd ca 7 also a 7/32?
no, it's ca7/40
compound word
Canada is in grid.
ty - found it
need the ir and another la now
bye all for now, 28 left but I need to head to lunch
thanks mael!
ah, the biscuits. thx, mael
ok so there's another la7 then that's my last one
that explains why I can't find my last 7
I mean last L
Well i still dont have z word
starts like latin for milk apparently
is it weird that the sound of a rooster crowing is stressing me right now
Got the Z. Ty cluers
does the ir 7 have something to do with being angry?
well, it's a 5, you're probably just going to have to monkey it, mkg or else someone will have to type it in.
yes, nan
yes, nan, the most
ok got the 7 - not a plural
and dairy related beginning?
yeah
oh - ty - missed that there were two options for that ending
well i guess you knew it was not a plural hokie if it's your last L!
i need some other L still
yes.
didn't know you had asked. I had to go out for a minute. too crazy in here.
there's a weird 6 with that beginning
i didn't ask
ok
thanks!
just found it hursh - want a clue?
5 left!
i got it
5 left here also!
2-1-2
o-3-2
R C S P C
hard eye roll at my last lower C
are there any ph words?
I've tried a lot but haven't found one yet
how I can't monkey a 4 on 4 tiles left is a mystery. I must have reached the point of total blindness.
down to PR
still RCSP here - the royal canadian seated police 🤣
haha
going to have to list
well, the c is new to me
and no def of course
LOL, the S was the same word but with an S in front
33 left here and thinking of listing
well, should have gotten the last 4 but like I said, babble blindness had set in and it was a criss-cross square.
TADA
grats carla
can you tell me this - are there 2 R6 words, or 3?
was going to guess your missing R was a 6
Hi all. I'm just starting and my monkeys found the Z word. I've never seen it before.
there are 3
ok
so R6 and P5
stats for the z?
good job, joy, that one took me a while to monkey for a 5
the monkeys get lucky sometimes.
hurshy, it is an alt sp for a 5
they wrote Hamlet last night while I was sleeping.
za5/22, shirl
lol
hurshy, none of the p5s are weird. check your pl first
ok i don't have a pi5, only 4 6 and 7
I wonder if people in jail ever get southern pies
and can they take communion?
oh wait you meant PLURAL, i misread your l as an i
ok yes i had omitted a plural
oh sorry, I didn't know why you were telling me your pi's
no prob
need to figure out lunch here
now back to that R6
that is an alt sp for a 5
is the 5 here, or not here?
here
and it reminds me of a TMNT
who are named after renaissance painters
well i have the 5 and 6 that reminds me of that, yeah
and then i'm trying other ways to spell the 5
aha, got it at last
well done
well at least that wasn't fishy :)
now to spelling bee, where the best pangram i can think of so far is hogpile, which isn't a word
well now that's all I can see
or, conversely, pighole
with an n that would work, pigeonhole
HA i got it
it is ironic
*!*~*!* hagd everyone :)
you too nan!
Congrats Nan!
the dog wants a headpat but it's not in the grid
Oh well, the dog is SOL

this is a Feline grid
i noticed!
ive got foxes, turtles and hawks. looking to me (and ducks) for sustenance
oh we have 3 turtles now but our deer have moved on :(
Deer are mobile - ive got 20 (?) turtles looking for leftovers
are turtles herbivore?
they eat everything
from fruit to dead fish to lunch meat
you should try a taste test to see if they'd eat Twinkies, Spam, peanut butter, Twizzlers
the 4 basic food groups
gotta be something I can drop 20 feet down, so not sure about peanut butter
well it could be Nabs
nabs?
those packs of orange crackers with peanut butter filling
made by Nabisco, so they are nicknamed Nabs
Looking....
where are you looking
out there
did you throw something out there
can' t wait to see a pic of turtles eating Twizzlers

*hugs*
to you too
Congratulations mab on your fireworks display!Way to go
thank you min, same to you, and thanks for excellent clue.
I need to get up early in the morning so I am off. I leave you with a story of clues in my profile if needed.G'night!
now that i look at it it does look familiar. so funny, that. I think 180 words must be my limit. not a single word more.
good night min!
staring at grid looking for words that are not there. must return to endless study of french. hopeless but better maybe than my other obsession - reading news.
should set news time limit. never will, but should.
will attempt prying myself out the door to jeter the rubbish and recycling. my life...
Minveryork, I just read your story. How clever and kind of you. I have been a Babble Member for many years.I stopped for several years. I don't often finish many puzzles but I enjoy the challenge. I was able to add 6 more words tonight. Thanks so much!
