Well, if Anne's flag is correct, she's on the same time zone as I am, so it's only 9am here - the flip is at 6am...(our time)
So maybe she'll be back later this morning after some coffee (or tea) and will be thinking exactly what you suggest :)
It's 3 am here...... flip was at 12 midnight
Get some sleep! What ARE you doing up in the wee hours of a Sunday morning :)
ssewing.......
and Babble
May I ask why at 3am? :)
I don't fight if I can't sleep......
My OH is toasting crumpets and bringing coffee
I'm about ready to try again
I now have visions of you being a sleep fighter - like you fall asleep and immediately become a deadly force in your household ;)
I couldn't sleep ~~ Making some items for "Operation Christmas Child" shoe boxes
you're not alone - I'm up, too at 3 AM - insomnia and a weird sleep schedule does it for me.
I will sleep good ......
I don't have to get up at a certain time.... church is at 11
It's a lazy Sunday morning here - crumpets and coffee in bed. At some point I shall get up and shower
and done! Yay! Laters, all. :)

Most asked for words of the day will be the D worth 2 words
Are you saying the point value is worth two words?
No, the D tile that has two words on it
Awe...Haven't looked that far.

Oops sorry

Ty
Got it. The skirt clue was perfect. Ty
Anyone have the 8?
ha8 compound - use to weave
Ty
First word i get but second one i cant think of .
You'll see it as you work through
Got it. Ty
molly's prediction was that the 4th column D would need the most clueing today
Reckon the sl5/6 will need an awful lot too. Goodnight all
oh, zooz'z farewell in the grid
I dont have the sl word so you are probably right
If it is the word I'm thinking, it won't take it.
it's a strange one, but we've had it before
Any clues welcome
not accepted
but very similar to accepted words
(zooz's word)
(and my uncle larry uses it all the time)
I dont have zoos word.
Sl 5 eh? Not getting it with monkeys
I just said it's not accepted

I'm here reading your code.

No clue what Carla meant about the verb tenses though
I have ri6 a bike many times

Not seen, Mool for a while, Carla. Do you know if he is okay?
he checked in one day a few days ago and said he was prioritizing other stuff first
Ah okay. Just me being nosy. As long as he is okay. Not seen Gapeach for a while either. Hope she is okay.
states for the D in the 4th column pls?
Di 6/24 & plural
A skirt with gathers at the waistline.
Sorry you asked just for stats. I got a little carried away.
good morning everyone. Just read the chat -- is there or there not an sl 5-6?
i need all the help i can get lol
Have not read the chat bit yes there is.
Sounds like a nordic word, nan.
we all wore those skirts in the 50's. I remember making one in home ec grade 7 --- right after the bibbed apron, which was our first project. The apron looked like something out of the 1800's
Short for not fast and two unlikely consonants.Uses the high point tile
it does indeed look nordic - ty
ty molly as well
yeah, i had to google that d6 word, never heard of it before, i guess we never got to that part of home ec
The dresses got popular after The Sound of Music
when did the sound of music come out?
1965
our aprons did like those with the cross over ties at the back
When I was one years old haha!
The play: 1959 the movie: 1965
we wore di 6 skirts in the 50's -- so they were popular before that
I'm not saying they were not around before then. Just that the costumes in The Sound of Music made them popular
1959- In that case I was not even a twinkling of the eye haha!
circle skirts with multi crinolines were popular in the late 50's but we were back to pencil skirts in the 60's or bell skirts
Pencil skirts? Are they like the pencil line drawn on the leg to make it look like you were wearing tights?
It cannot be of course but just wondered what a pencil skirt is.
no a slim tight skirt with a slit at the back rather than a pleat
Ah gotcha! Thanks.
Wow, Long Island sound is supposed to get 10 to 15 foot storm surge from Hurricane Henri
Makes me laugh how some people go round in ripped jeans and have paid silly prices for them. Why not jusy buy a pair and rip them yourself for half the price!
lol zppm -- my daughter is just 3 years younger than you :)
*zoom
Not nice, Molly. Hope they will be okay.
Ah but she is still your little lady, Nan!
That part of New York is not equipped to deal with such things. This could cause damage like Tropical Storm Sandy did
mekes one glad not to live on the shore
Aw toodle not allowed.
Every time I see aerial photos of New York City I think that much rebar and cement was not meant to be erected on such a small piece of land
Isn't there a fault line running through NY?
Yep
Yikes!
tori
poo I am very sorry everyone.
There are several and New York City was NOT built with earthquakes in mind. If one happened, it could be catastrophic. I would never live there for that and a lot of other reasons.
wish you'd "clued" my missing l from the top instead :)
Reading about it gave me the eebie-geebies
I have all from the top. nothing unusual.
I bet
I bet, Molly. Does kot bear thinking about.
I just cannot type today.
have 2 le 5's and the rest are all 4's -- is there another 5 or a 6?
nm - forgot to plural one of the 4's
Easily done, Nan.
I keep thinking endri or endris is a word.
ntpn - messiah composer
That would get you into the PB
handel
gold star for hurshy
oh yes it is the other way round. silly me.
I am feeling rather chirpy and strange today. Something must be wrong.
I don't know zoom -- is there a full moon tonight?
Haha! Probably, Nan!
i don't see how there can be four more from the top S
just missing one from there now
Okay here is a strange one for you. Does anyone ever count in their head numbers of something then sortof get stuck at a number like a stutter for a while before being able to continue. Mine for some reason is number 7. So in my head I would count say plates laid out on the table and i would do 1,2,3,4,5,6,7.7.7.7.7 then continue to 8 onwards.
hmm, perhaps you are getting caught in some sort of a time-space vortex
missing a lot of t's though
Oh I am missing 4 fromthe top too!
do you live near cardiff?
Hi Nan! yes there is a full moon tonight. A blue moon.
LOL Isle of Shite..oops Wight.
oh neat
I am missing 9 Ts at the moment.
i haven't tried T yet
I asked zoom that because when the kids went a little nutty in the classroom it was often when there was a full moon - strange
all the full moons are being given names -- wolf moon, harvest moon, etc. The blue moon tonight is a different blue moon than I am used too (two in one month)
I think there is a blood moon to.
T not bad, i see all but 2 on first go
wasn't it couple of years ago that we had a full moon that was a blood wolf moon that was also the closest to the earth for the year all in one - oh and it was the first full moon of the year too maybe?
Says, Hurshy all smug haha!
the S will keep me humble
Hi zooz, I just looked up full moon names - wow! Here's some: Green Corn Moon, Grain moon, Old Moon, Ice Moon, Full Sprouting Grass Moon, Egg Moon, Full Fish Moon....and the list goes on
yes nan you are right about that bllod wolf moon, made a special effort to see it
the native americans had names for each one, and probably different tribes had different names, so if they're drawing on those, there would be a lot
Full sprouting grass moon. wow.
that was my fave
S words are not too bad, Hurshy.
*crying*
did you get the se 6 that means hardly ever?
yes
ty saanich - that was my missing s
I se6 miss that word, Saanichat lol
great!
top row black
How about lots of beach grain sa7
ah ty
probably the nordic looking sl 5-6
yes probably, i am trying to think what i can do that seems nordic
aha, got them!
sl 5/22
THANK YOU nan!
yw - the nordic part was someone one el4's clue
I still need an A from the bottom left corner.
Is it am7 Zoom?
Ah! Yes it would be, Molly.
a + the sheep wool word with a different first vowel
Got it. Thank you!
what's the 8?
HA 8
thanks, got it!!
are the two lower D DH?
Di 6 & plural
oh good!
thanks, got them now
i like di6 skirts
Never tried them myself haha!
back after breakfast for the last 16
Enjoy!
Ah found my last E I was very close to PB in the chat earlier then.
thanks for that one :)
even with that am7 i still need two more corner A!
aha, found 'em
7 left!
was it the creature that creates dirt mounds?
yeah
You babblers are so much quicker than me.
sometimes
other times one sits for ages trying to see "once"
i love the wind, i hope it does not knock out our power though!
I like the wind too but ot that strong.
not*
Zoom, I think you would look fetching in a di6 skirt : D
3 left!
rehi. still 10 here.
Oh please! You have not seen my legs!
hi hokie
I also have 10 left.
Hurricane force winds are very likely to knock power out. Also not the "enjoyable" kind of wind
well, enjoyability is in the heart of the beholder
Legs? That is what lederhosen is for : D
last two words, M5 and S5
what do you have, zooz? LL S E E TT DD M here
aha, a plural M
hurricane: a blizzard of water.
Well hey Hursh, if you enjoy wind strong enough to cause destruction, get a front row seat
S,TTTTTTT,R
wow :D
it's like how spock can be fascinated and appalled by something at the same time
SPLLLLTTTT
i mean i don't understand how people can enjoy horror movies, myself, but lots of people do
at least you used letters in the grid this time, molly
The J was very easy to monkey, that was nice.
done!!!
Congrat!
agreed, seain
With Hurshy it is always six degrees to Star Trek, Harry Potter, Lord of The Rings or Little House On The Prairie
I know, seain - I thought the same!
well done, hurshy!
don't forget Doctor Who, Anne of Green Gables, Oz...
Hi all. The ewok planet is here.
with joy it's always star wars 😜
endor
well that forest mo4 comes up a LOT in grids
it's hard to miss
actually I don't think I've ever noticed a Star Wars word before...it's usually the Harry Potter words I see.
we have sith all the time
My daughter fell in love with Luke Skywalker when she was 3, and I really burned out on those movies.
I never saw them until my kids watched in the 2000s
but sith COUNTS
Fireworks! Happy babbling everyone!
And CATS, how did we forget CATS?
yay zooz!
well done, zooz. toodle pips
wtg zooz
we also get droid a bit
Thank you, DC!
Thanks, Joym!
Toodle pip, Carla!
and millennium falcon 🤣
did you list zooz?
i once lived on Millennium Ln just past Decade Ct.
I've seen a bunch of middle earth streets in one area - Elrond Dr., Legolas Ln, Hobbitshire Dr.
well, still 10 left here but back to work.
sl 5/22, pls
it's a babble, bichon. Ends with the high scoring tile + another consonant.
bbl
ty joy
ty, joy, new one to me.
What? Everyone here is not familiar with a system of manual training based on experience gained in woodworking, originally developed in Sweden?
LOL
mo 6/21 please?
or en 6/21 please?
anyone here?
i'm here, looking for both...
I'm here too and also don't have either one
40 words to go and I've hit a wall. Time to list.
mo6.21 additional small particles?
ty seain
endrot - when you get too much rain ant the tips of the carrots turn to mush
en6.21 sounds rather like a drug and goes to the upper left.
yes, endrot is a thing.
not according to enable
so i noticed :)
about the only combo I didn't try for that en - ty
*!*~*!* hagd everyone :)
yay, nan! hagd :)
endrot happens to tomatoes that don't get enough calcium :)
apparently not one word, though
should be, we all say it as one. It ought at least be end-rot.
FW for me finally. Anyone need clues?
yay, joy!
so many phantoms, I need to come back later. HAGD, all
Clue for di7 please?
di6/7 have far too many consonants.
Aahh skirts! Thanks!
hmm, not getting the mo6 clue. is this a plural without a singular? not a plural at all and that's where I'm going wrong?
nm
It isn't a plural. Not sure why it was clued that way
Mo6 they pose on the runway
That's mo6/24
Mo6/21 ends in a charged particle
Earlier, mo6/21 was clued as mo6.21 additional small particles? which leads one to believe it is a plural
en 6/24, pls
sorry, 6/21
Ends in the opposite of out, bich.
tyvm origami
You're welcome.
hello friends.
am 7 please
nm got it
clue, nancy? I'm stuck on that am 7 :)
first three of am above and then drummer for beatles minus last consonant
just morewords it :)
golly, who would use that word everyday?
if I had a little Italian male pet, I would :)
good point
27 left, listing, how about you, Trif?
henri's in the grid: topical storm that's tossed us around all day
hello again - sorry, got distracted
mab, was it bad where you are? Some of the photos are horrendous
i'm western new england, lots of wind only. hurshy and all coastal people are in terrible peril.
I just drove from binghamton to boston - it was not a big deal. the coastal effects are really what's bad.
I saw a highway picture with a road sign that said HURRICANE WARNING IN EFFECT. Of course, people were still on the road.
hope hurshy is OK, haven't seen much of her today
She was here earlier
how is trif faring?
I just looked at the radar map. No terrible peril in Connecticut.
We are doing okay. TONS of rain, and we lost the top of big tree, and its unfortuately hanging like the sword of damocles over the goat shed, so will have to be addressed.
the fish in my garden pond are loving the fresh water
OK first pass, and 35 to go. are these J words normal?
hello harry. not too strange, no
hey trif when do you start?
the river near us was flooded -- at low tide. it was RIDICULOUS at high tide
I don't, sadly, nothing on my slate as yet for the fall.
I got RIFfed
OH I'm sorry trif
its okay. I had an interview on Thursday, and im so relieved I didnt get it. I feel sorry for whoever did. GULAG
we got rejected by alot of interviewees in the spring.
I am not worried yet. Tons of resumes out, I will end up where I am supposed to be.
wow, that is nuts!
when do you start?
yeah - I think we have no elem science teacher.
Archie's is hiring, I would love to work there!
it will be taught by the classroom teacher.
faculty mtngs this week, classes next Monday

I still have hopes to return to where I was....you never know
I taught at a prep school in new haven - it was heaven

Wait - where are you again?
jo 4.9 and plural
brookline is my school now.
yes, that is what I thought, but public, yes?
oh dear. I should have had those. ty trif.
no - small private school
i am sorry to have to ask - my brain fog this week is WICKED
I've never been licensed.
oh okay. Again, I am sorry. SUCH brain fog
having a license hasn't done me much good
yeah - I tried when we were in CT, but they wanted me to go back and take so many ed courses. crazy.
neither has having a masters, professionally. DId a world of good for my self esteem though....
I'm listing this at 29. no patience today.
the number of listings on school spring every day is NUTS. there are a ton of new listings even today - a sunday!
school spring? openings for teachers?
Harry, I was similar. I thought I'd get licensed when we moved to MA, but I would have had to start from scratch and after having run my own classroom for 5 years, I wasn't going back to beginners student teaching. So I stayed in private school.
I think they lose many excellent teachers by their requirements.
yes, listings for teachers
But I'm really glad not to be teaching during covid. Wishing so much luck and encouragement and best wishes to all of you having to deal with this!
my school is posted there.
including a position which has already been filled.
Anyway, fireworks for me, so I'll disappear again.
bye vic!
7 to go here
bye vic!
Wow.... haven't seen Vicuna in AGES!
done!
I would imagine a lot of people in the education field have been laid off.Especially aides and support people.
Congrats!
ty une :)
