i have a strong attachment to WWI and most people don't know or think much about that war because the Holocaust is so gripping and more recent. so, i like to make sure someone is still remembering the absolutely appalling things soldiers endured in WWI.

I don't know - I think weapons targeting specific people and buildings allow us to get away from mass destruction.
We need to focus on teaching children to love and tolerate not to hate. Then they grow up and dont want to destroy others. The hatred is terrible especially in this country now. The left never used to hate the right and vice versa. I dont recall 15 years ago senators and congressmen getting on the TV and condemning the other side. It is terrible now.

there is a free book available for e-reading called "Now It Can Be Told". it's a bad title but a really good book. it is by a reporter who was near the front lines for pretty much all of WWI and of course his reporting was heavily censored while the war was going on. hence the book later. it's quite eye-opening in terms of how bad things were.
