Ornery grid, this one
hello all
hey lindy!
how's it going/
OK -- under the circumstances anyway. Omicron going crazy. I am trying not to go crazy too! How about you?
doing pretty well, thanks. still rearranging things after our daughter moved out.
oh, what a change. Any children at home still?
nope, just the 2 of us now. again. this daughter had moved out previously about 10 years ago, but ended up moving back
well that's even more of an adjustment! Anyway, this puzzle is a stickler ...
it sure is. and lots of high point letters
Good morning ladies. We are hanging onto our hats today. Supposed to have strong winds (50 MPH) all day. I'm glad I'm off.
hello molly, glad you can stay out of that wind!
50 mph?? wow. good luck.
I call that Kansas windy.
I am just hoping no trees or power lines go down.
And yes Bea, Kansas windy indeed.
That was our situation yesterday. Snow, then sleet then rain and then wind. The power always goes out in those conditions.
Oh crap, I missed that Sidney Poitier died. He was amazing.
To Sir with Love...
Loved the movie, hated the song
I wore out the LP.
hi all
Hello, jm.
Still slippery in your part of town, JMC?
not too bad. I was able to shovel my sidewalk. I was afraid it would be solid ice this morning
so not aware of upcoming winds. Will just stay inside for the rest of the day
I am guessing I won't get many words today
It's a sticky one.
woot! got m first 5 letter one
BTW did the news about lickety is expecting to get parts today and possibly have the list up by the end of the week make it to the chog?
hey that's great!
oh good!
I put that news with the list in my profile
Anyone been to the Van Gogh Immersive Experience?
Bea, what is that
good idea Molls
Google it. They put you into the painting.
I saw one of his starry nights (in a harbor) when I was in Paris. . . I was in the painting with no help from projectors.
My sister went to the Van Gogh immersive exhibit in Atlanta. She said it was breath taking.
We have tickets for April.
morning all! nekid should be allowed alt spelling
what about newde -- as in eww for this nude
dan2bit that is spelled nekkid
that is how my mother the English teacher spelled it
Good day.
ooh, found an 8/9 right off the bat
Word nerds should get those pretty easily.
I would think...
"nekkid and afraid" Our favorite show
I say nekkid. of course people make fun.
LOL! I've binge watched that show. It's like a train wreck.
naked just sounds fake.
I wanted to hate the show but got swept up in a marathon a while back.
Can't wait til the new season starts
I used to enjoy watching that.
hi all.. is it on Amazon or Netflix? Am looking for good ones to watch
it's a cable channel show, earlier seasons might be netflix
oh, ok.. we don't have cable
looks like you can only stream 2 seasons on hulu and all 13 are on discovery+
ty for checking, hokie
justwatch.com is a go-to for me to check shows - tells you everywhere that's streaming a movie or tv show
Thanks for that, Carla.
making note of that.. good to know
no prob
Aloy, have you seen Only Murders in the Building?
they also have an app for your phone but I'm usually just on the computer when I want to look stuff up
yeah, that's good, but you have to have hulu
no, Bea.. you like?
rats.. no hulu
Steve Martin and Martin Short...need I say more?
no, they both are great
I need to check with Mr. Bea. He didn't watch it on hulu.
interesting. it is a hulu original. let's see what justwatch says
I think it's on Netflix
oh I am really enjoying Only in the Building Murders
just hulu listed on justwatch
hulu. .
krysten. I know canada netflix has different things on it than US netflix from my travels there.
Might be a Canadian thing. I don't have hulu but checked and def on Netflix here.
LOL...beat me to it hokie
ðŸ˜
ah yeah I had that problem when the boy would recommend things on british tv.
maybe mr. bea is bootlegging it somehow
I wouldn't doubt that!
aloy, you could always do a hulu trial and then cancel after you watch
anyone have either of the right-hand U words?
I really have to work hard to watch 8 out of 10 Cats
still on 2nd row, hurshy
not there yet
what is 8 out of 10 cats?
Hulu often has deals. . . so do the rest. I subscribe for about 3 months and then cancel
un7/8
hursh, they are un7/8
8 out of 10 cats is raunchy british humor combine with worh play
lots of current events
ok thanks looking
yeah, I have discovery+ because they sent me a deal I couldn't refuse
there is also 8 out of 10 cats does countdown which is word play and number games
I think we got the same deal, Carla.
woot, thanks, found 'em
I find I see everything I am interested in within a 3 month period and then go to a different service and watch what they have . .
bea, watch fruitcake fraud if you haven't already
Mr. Bea said he watched on Hulu.
ok, ty to Mr. Bea
I'm just now getting back to watching anything on tv after taking a 2 year hiatus.
wow
We have it on the firestick. And he watched it while he was petsitting.
I usually play on the computer or iPad while hubby watches movies that bore me
how about the other 8 and the 9 (hoping they are a pair...)?
LOL, been there
mo8/9
ty
can't believe I actually GATBO before hurshy today
why? i am terrible at big ones
TWSS
I had the mo off the bat, but what does the other 8 start with?
un
oh.. ty
for G i have ga4/11, anyone have the other?
ga7.56
you usually see the big ones right off the bat. and good one, bea. 🤣
no, i don't
yay, i got it!
I take it iit is not a regular word used in everyday convo?
no
Hardly, zooz.
i think it is an actual fish
Figures haha!
Yes, it is a fish.
compound of two shorter fish names
Ooh! Okay thank you.
that did it, ty
Got the Un 8 also. Thank you. I seem to have brain fog today.
ty hursh
am still in a fog, zooz
Carla, did you get a lot of snow and ice?
Me too, Aloy. I am struggling with the grid more than usual.
This grid is a bugger.
a little snow and a lot of sleet. probably 2.5" combined. roads are still white, even in the tracks of vehicles. unusual for day 2 here.
coffee must be starting to work, found that un combo
We had a an inch of snow, then sleet for four hours then rain and wind until dark.
how about you? the kid in raleigh said they really only had rain
Makes me laugh when i hear a little snow when 2.5 inches here and everything would grind to a halt haha!
oh, it does here in NC too, zooz
car just went by - it is very crunchy out
I must have gotten the same coffee jolt Snuffy. . .just got the un7/8 too
(-: wtg jmc
somehow the big ones popped right out for me today, it's all the other words I can't find
this is looking a little less hopeless
just making F4's up that I've never seen before. not sure how that's possible.
monkey time for me
I still need two Ss
My Kansas daughter, husband and two littles all have covid. My grandsons in Raleigh both have the virus.
still haven't finished first pass!
22 left after first pass
oh, I hope everyone is better soon
ooh, sorry Bea.. hope they all recuperate asap
You probably need the si7.36 and su6.24, zooz.
so sorry bzzn. will hold them in the light.
Thanks everyone.
our niece & her husband in FL have it and they have a 2 mo old baby. my SIL has been babysitting since Wed. but I know she's loving it.
Ah you are correct, Bea. Thank you will try and worl them out.
My sister & her five year old son has covid now. So she has had to stay away from parents for nearly two weeks so far.
I have my fingers crossed for my great-nephew who turns 5 tomorrow and then can get his first jab. . .
having trouble finding pangram on spelling bee today
me too hursg
*hursh
Not sure how but found the Si 7! Thank you, Bea.
wd zooz
still looking for that su6. not a lot of possible words with that point total.
unless I was looking at the wrong S
ends with a note of the scale, hokie
Its a fish used to make fake crab meat.
still hunting the si7 tho
lol, 2 fishes that aren't fishes in the grid today
well, I had to google it because I'm slow, but thanks.
I would love a hint on the si 7
am just about to look it up
'morning, folks
Ends with the robot word, Ru.
hi ru and welki
hey welki
bea, first batch of sprouts are ready
Hello, Welki! â¤ï¸
monkey-like?
zooz, i clicked on a link to a band that Temple Owl posted for you - it was a band from the Isle of Wight!
Ape like yes, Carla.
(wet leg was their name)
Yes I know, Welki. I had never heard of them before. Enjoyable music too.
cool coincidence :)
Funny how someone thousands of miles away tells me about a music group on my own doorstep haha!
back in time to see the clue, zooz.. tyvm.. and hi to ru
like a cross-atlantic neighbor sitting at the kitchen table with you - 'have you ever heard of...?'
..and hi to welki too
hi aloy :)
I know! Mad right.
okay, 18 left after first pass. only have one O so not HOET
hahaha - and then the other neighbor (another 3000 miles to the west) tells you about them again :D
am also at 18 now..
i get the sense that TO knows a heck of a lot about music and up and coming groups
haha!
ru, she is a music maven
Yes she does, Ruru! She writes reviews on new musical talents etc
HOET!
I have AOET!
well done!
well done, zooz!
Gracias!
i made some suet for the birds last week - the woodpeckers and chickadees are having a feast
Yes birds love fatballs, Welki!
heh - fatballs
I used to buy my fatballs as once I tried to make them myself and when you melted the lard down and added the seeds it really was a horrible smell. Stunk the whole house out.
add some mealworms to the mix and it smells like a CSI scene
Ewww!
oh, sounds delightful
yes, but i'm rewarded
Taste even better for the birds, Carla! haha!
misref - if you watch any sports you know this happens
Alas my time is needed else where. Happy babbling everyone!
bye zoozzooz
hagd, zooz!
i sold my extra dog crate to a gal down the road last summer. i now need another crate, so messaged her and asked if the puppy had outgrown it. she said come pick it up - so i did, gave her back her money and thanked her for storing it for me :)
bye, zooz
haha
that worked out well, welki
some things do :)
how's your vertigo, hokie?
unfortunately, still around welki
mostly better, thanks. I can still trigger it doing the epley at home, but it's a real slow spin. going back to the PT on Wed.
oops, you asked hokie.. sorry.. I also have vertigo
oh no!
are you both blond?
but you are a hokie too 😉
we're not dizzy blonds ruru!
ok, yes I am blond
yup, BPPV.. maybe the altitude contributed, just joking
used to be blond.. all silver now
notice I did not say grey
silver is pretty
I like it a lot.. at first I dyed my hair, but swimming turned it strange colors, so I stopped.. and I was lucky to inherit my grandma's silver color
I have 2 grays right in the front that I have to pull out because they stick straight up
hi all. help with middle i in 2nd column pls
id 5 dialect
I don't know if that's im4 or im5, peri
id5 is from top o
think it is im5.12 peri
yes, im5
ty looking
11 left after 2nd pass. guess I will look for the 4 4's I have left.
found im5/14 from another i
got it ty carla
how'd the lunch thing go peri?
it went well, ruru, thanks for asking
not too stressful?
no
wow, I had the seven dwarfs but not what they work in
hi ho hi ho
the p has completely stumped me
I have 2 p's left. also stumped
down to 6 - 1 4, 1 5, and 4 6's, so I'm guessing there's at least one weird P6 there.
ooops.. just got all of them they're easy..
happy to help.. fw
yay ru
well, aren't you special? 🤣😜
well done, aloy
whoo hoo snuffy
ooh, finished the P
I had missed a bunch of plurals and had to use A to Z for one word
now just 4 6's left
From completely stumped to easy in 8 minutes. You gotta love this place.
I may as well just quit with only 6s left
mu6 that ends with the horse's guide rope? That stumped me. Ty for posting Gillie's list, Molly. Time for me to scoot.. ciao all
thanks, would never have guessed that
adios
yw (-: glad you saw it.. poof
the other mu6 is for seagulls in the military
well, that is what I'm missing but that clue is too clever for me
but I got it
now R6 left
marines?
a murre? :D
I want to make refuse
think like me hokie and then it will make sense
the murre is what I didn't know
good morning all!
hi Hokie!
hey dolly!
oh, just monkeyed the R for fireworks
congrats!!!
whoo hoo hokie!
Congrats, hokie!
the longest words seem to be hiding very well today
they are super twisty TO
I have nothing longer than a 7, and I only have one of those
And nothing from the U in the fourth row, fourth column
weird, how they popped right out at me and I never see the big ones. un7/8 from there, matty. and mo8/9 - have same ending.
i need to refrain from commenting
don't worry, we made all those jokes earlier
oh good.. then I don't have to chip in
okay, ty
Ooh, I'm back and now looking for that un and mo. Thanks
Are they words I'm likely to be familiar with?
yes Matty
matty, was chatting about tea with someone who recommended PG tips as the only tea her britisih DIL drinks. Do you have any opinion? I have been tyring teas and not completely satisfied with them
Found it! We drink PG Tips - it's my favourite for bog standard builder's tea
I mean, it won't set your world alight, but it's definitely my favourite 'standard' tea
um...
I'm drinking a cup right now!
Found the M and the Us - thank you!
ah. we were working at the pantry when one of the donated boxes was burst open. so we took some home to try. so far, so good.
LOL how funny, i just finished one!
May I have stats for the G please?
good morning all
we found it at a grovery outlet, but I am sure wegemans would have it.
i've decided to begin dirnking tea gain. i am hoping it helps with cholesterol.
hi cyber
Apparently there is a ga 7, but I haven't found it
ga 7/56 ga 4/11
Tea? If from the grocercy store I buy Twinnings (usually Lady Grey), but miy favourite is Murchie's EArl Grey which you have to order online and idk if they ship to the states or do you have "David's Tea" outlets in you malls? They make good tea blends as well.
Should have seen the four. Ta, looking for the 7
it's a longer name for the needle nosed fish
yw
i do not care for bergamot
If you want something that will help with the cholesterol, eat oatmeal porridge!
ty not looking for recommendations at this time.
just tea
pg tips tobe precise
Then #10 snf #22 blends in the Murchie's are good, or if you like a strong tea try the "English Breakfast"
usually drink orange pekoe sometimes green, as well
but lost my taste for hot tea.
found a ga 4/11, but no way to make it a 7
My current favorite tea is white peach from Stash Tea Company. I also like their maple apple too, though I mix that one with black tea.
Stash teas are quite strong to my taste.
i mix English Breakfast with Black Currant for ice tea
Twinnings has an orange flavoured one that I like for iced tea
nan, the ga7 is two fish stuck together. I ended up looking it up though as I didn't have the 2nd fish at the time and couldn't see it.
I cannot like tea.
I drink Earl Gray. Ru loves green tea, right? :D
have another fish beginning with p, but that doesn't work
paid
well, the 2nd one does begin with P
the p is also a road in some places
but not the one that rhymes with what you drive into the ground or railway tie
nm - found it, but sure don't see it as an extension of the ga 4
who said it was?
ty carla
and it is the one that rhymes with those
last night someone said it was a ga 4 -7 combo
ah
yeah, they are unrelated
* or possibly I just read it that way -- was really tired at the time
missed the chat yesterday --- isn't it nice that the Aussie gov't stuck to it's guns? So glad the sent a message to the world's celebrities that rules are meant to be obeyed!
oh green tea tastes like monkey piss
How often have you been drinking monkey piss, Ru? ;)
I'm with you on that one Nan... good for Australia
well ... it was a stretch.. but I imagine that's what Monkey piss tastes like.> Green tea is disgusting
if you add enough sugar it is ok ru :D
ugh
Novak likely won't be able to play in the French Open either France just passed laws
he's too busy infecting the people of Dubai isn't he?
what a douche bag he is... attending events while he had Covid.
ugh an aquaintence just sent her holiday email to about 50 people and twice (two different emails) to me and now all of them are hitting replay all. . .. . . . .*sticks head in paper bag*
i hate that too jm.. happens to me too
*sticks head out of bag* I must say that Australia gave me hope. . .
that is one advantage of FB is you can turn off notifications
i dropped out of facebook... too envasive
invasive
I get that and the boy wants me to, but I reach a broad varity of people who actually actively follow me and my work. . .
dropped out years ago when it was suspected a lot of viruses were spreading through there
althoug right now I am not sure what my work it
is
Never have understood the appeal of Facebook. Never will.
good thing it is optional then Molls. . .
it's a narcissist play land
I deleted my personal FB account a few years ago. started a new one just for sewing and fabric groups as those are good resources for pattern help, new patterns coming out, etc.
do you guys joke around a lot in the sewing group forum?
I'd imagine they keep you in stitches
i get your point
now you have started a pun thread
Are you needling Carla?
well, ru's trying to hem me in
I had to reach out.. i was feeling a bit hemmed in
snap hokie I owe you a coke
that seams right
hopefully we won't depleat all the humor here today
I'm sure you will manage to keep everyone in stitches, ru
these puns are like a well-oiled machine now
See you after breakfast :)
i forgot it's a holiday.. i can take the day off yippeeee

it is windy enough that I went out and took down our outside Christmas lights this morning, but so far all the trees are staying put
that's good. I don't have tall trees but the neighbors do.
my windsock is going crazy
Here in the UK, it's considered bad luck to leave your Christmas decorations up past 12th night. Fun factlet of the day ;)
MU 6s?

In my neighborhood we started leaving the door wreaths up until Easter because a neighboor had birds nest in their wreath.
