passed away is a softer way to say it he's dead is a too pointed :D

I guess you've never had to go to the website dead or alive to see if a celebrity is dead or alive.
never heard of that website

I guess of late a better website would be dead or arrested

hello everyone - just back from the monthly costco trip -- ugh!
just back from my walk. 68F outside feels like 100. geez, am I ever happy with the weather?
is it muggy, carla?
no, just checked weather.com. actually 69, feels like 69. I think the sun was just hot on my black t-shirt, and I had on long leggings
55% humidity on 69F. if I was an expert in relative humidity I would know if that's bad or not.

Anyone else in need of clue help?
yay, just finished! Did you get your FB sorted, Jac?
Not yet rosebud, :( I'm hoping my partner can sort it out as my trusted contact when he gets home at the weekend. If not, I may have to hire a private plane, bypass US passport control and storm the Facebook offices! lol
Well done on finishing, rbud!
best of luck with that. Laters, all!!
Can you believe that I got temporarily locked out of my new FB account twice yesterday? I made a new one in case I can't get the old one back. First reason for getting locked out was for 'scrolling to fast' and the second was for 'making too many friend requests' (I'd only done 4!)
*too fast, I meant.
FB has been crap since Meta took over.
I had Chinese food on Saint Paddy's day... who knew
Hi Dorens! I had kippers.
what are kippers?
ruru - smoked herrings.
oh..thanks.. but no thanks
Fish.
Each to his or her own, ruru!
yes.. i get it.. I'm not much of a fish person especially from jars or cans...
I had rainbow trout a couple of days ago. Is that more to your taste, ruru?
used to eat trout but not for a long time.
Neither meal was from a can or jar. All were fresh.
oh.. they're canned here.
hence the slogan hard of herring in SF :D
Best trout I ever had was freshly caught, knocked on the head, gutted then cooked in butter. Lake trout in Wales. Something from my childhood when Dad caught our breakfast.
Apparently, there is a shortage of white fish here in UK now, due to most of the imported fish being from Russia. Don't get that. We have plenty of fish in our own waters.
i like halibut, sea bass, shellfish, .. i steer away from fishy fish
ruru - I know what you mean about 'fishy fish'. That's why I don't like shark or dogfish and find swordfish too weird because it has the texture of pork but the taste of a too fishy fish.
i wouldn't eat sword fish just out of respect for the fish.
i do like tuna a lot
I do try to try everything once in my life, within reason. Hated kangaroo steak and emu steaks when I tried those. I don't like mackerel or tuna. You have to be careful about how much tuna, tinned or fresh, that you eat because you can get mercury poisining if you overdo it.
I like both fresh and tinned salmon, but only pink salmon re the tinned version.
I have to add salt and malt vinegar to the canned version, but just a bit of salt and fresh lemon to the fresh version.
*poisOning! I wish this chog had an edit facility.
Anyone else need any clues for the current grid?
i only rarely eat tuna..
That's okay then, ruru. x
usually when I screw up and forget to go shopping for other stuff
:D
LOL, ruru.
Here in UK it's usually cheese or baked beans on toast if there's 'nothing in' or you can't be bothered. Or failing that, egg and chips. (That's proper British fried chips, not what the USA calls what we call 'crisps'.
yes.. scrambled eggs are a good fall back if you forgot to get stuff or are too tired to go to the store
One good thing about the internet is the connections we all get with people from different countries and learn how terms for things differ.
you brits have so many different sayings.. I agree it is fascinating.
ruru - Funny you should mention scrambled eggs. My 87-year-old mum was here a couple of days ago wondering what 'buttered eggs' are, as was her 95-year-old friend. I consulted my trusty old Domestic Science textbook (stolen from my grammar school when I left). It's an old British catering college cookbook that was first published in 1917 and I had the 1953 edition. It's got things like sheep's head broth and calf's foot jelly in it (meals for invalids). Buttered eggs is another term for scrambled eggs.
I must just add that I left that school in 1973 and we were still using 1953 textbooks!
'Jugged Hare' was another dubious recipe in there.
Oh, and boiled sheep or calf brain. That was one my now ex-Mother-in-law still used to make in the 70s and 80s. Turned my stomach to see the brain soaking in a bowl before cooking. She loved brains on toast. Ironic really, since she is the most stupid person I've ever met in my almost 65 years of life.
She seems to revel in her lack of knowledge and also to take delight in telling outright lies about what family members have said or done. Don't know why she still keeps on doing the latter, since we all have the measure of her now.
Guess she just wants to create drama in her life. Shame she's not literate enough to write dramas instead of trying to make them.
Does anyone need any grid clues now?
sc 5,14 please
Bugsaw - there are 2 sc5/14s. The first is 's' + a type of fish, and the second is what you to when you decide something needs throwing away (s + rude word for 'shit'').
thanks, I was blind to it
y/w, Bugsaw.
I know what you mean about being blind to certain words, Bugsaw. I never see 'niece'!

made it! Thanks for the tip. I lost some time reading your old fashioned recipes and trying not to gag.
What am I talking about? That is a word, as is its plural.
My mother-in-law had an original Mrs Beatons Cookbook from the mideaval
Sorry for making you gag with the old recipes, Bugsaw. Same reaction for me. Well done for finishing the grid!
