one of these days ronin will make the cut
thanks, lickety
thank you, lickety!
ntpn -- i am not a crook
sock it to me?
my gooddness -- is everyone here that young?
except me, apparently
It's tricky, nan. Like him.
lol freep
that was reverend run
reverend run?
wait, does the "sock it to me?" reference mean i'm older or younger than you? after the crook reference
I have no idea - you said it
I was calling a proper noun -- freep got it (gold star btw)
i was calling a proper noun from the time a famous politician appeared on laugh-in
who i'm pretty sure is the same one you're talking about
I mean, they certainly overlap in time
didn't know he was on laugh in
it was before he was president
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3e9iWi\nzfsm8
lily pond painter is here too
I still don't know what Reverend Run has to do with it
there's also a famous performer... but her name is actin;;u a word!
I don't know what or who Reverend Run is
don't know that one, freep
I googled him - American rapper, producer, etc.
reverend run was just from "it's tricky"
wouldn't know then.
I think you have lost us, cow
i'm old
in8
don't see what tricky dickie has to do with a rapper -- rappers are my grandkid's generation
well thank you, you make me feel young
Reverend Run (Run DMC) had a song named It's Tricky
48 words left for later here and I'll leave you USA lot to your musings about Richard Nixon. x
lol - I was thinking about Monet after that -- wondering if he had Asperger's syndrome -- he painted that pond 250 tines!
following behind jacula -- good night everyone :)
Night Jacula and Nan!
Good morning, my Babble friends. I see "Tricky Dick" is in the grid today.---and a ton of phantom words like cinnamon and cerement.
Though re
Tricky dick?
is that a question? all you have to do is google it if you're asking. :D
Ah a president
yeah, a real classic. The one "they" constantly compared Dump45 to, until he overshot even that goal, haha.
i keep seeing cinamon--time for toast!!
rine
I think cinnamon is going to be the phantom of the day. Count how many times it gets mentioned.
or cinema
it's very satisfying when you typo and the word works, esp if you' probably would never have actually tried that word
ugh, just saw there are 21 a's. and yes, cinnamon was the first thing I saw when I got here.
(in my worst english accent) doncha need an airnet to be working in this restaurant
4
is that my rating? 4/10?
ave you never eard of enry iggins?
wouldn't it be loverly
the rain in spain falls mainly on the plain
there'd be spring every year without you
stats for the middle O anyone?
just on 2nd row but a quick glance gives me nothing
ooh, ox5
thx for that, hokie, 3 more to go
pen's in the grid - a mainer
Not quite a tiara event, but we'll give her a beanie. With the whirlygig on top.
oh, so an actual beanie
Pretty columbine, Molly :-)
every time someone says that I think of the whirlygig
Yes, the kind Beany wore in Beany and Cecil. (way before your time)
new icon Molly? how pretty
Yes Une. It's time to put away the snow shovels and enjoy the Spring flowers.
yeah, never heard of that. and thanks, une, for pointing out her flower because I still see the shamrock. and I would never have known that was a columbine. it is beautiful.
how is everyone doing today?
hey mael, doing fine, how about you? 68F here already and sunny.
beautiful today, the fog is just burning off now
as far as the grid goes, I still have 5! tiles that I don't have half on.
hello...may I have stats for the top right A?
that's one of my trouble tiles, hi phae
that one and the bottom E
just found the bottom e - en5
I still need one more O and one more R next to the O for HOET
and that annoying A
ooh, am4
and found another o, now just one more R
HOET!
darnit, premature. it came from the other R
and screw enable, rerent is a word
aha, HOET!
now both R's reduced to rubble
well done!
I'm still struggling here
Tried rerent too!
made it halfway
35 left. still struggling on a lot of tiles.
this grid is a day late with eire and erin
hah! found an 8
I have 2 8s!
alas, ironman is not a word
hmm, didn't see or I surely would have tried
I do still need 2 i's there
Have one 8.....ro8/50
my other is an8
now I have I am Ironman stuck in my head
stats on the other? I have both of those
IDK
Clue for an8 please?
one who an6 (think religion)
am I the only one who's tried amore at least 5 times?
ty
Just once LOL
Tx hokie!
really stumped on these a's though. still need 6. where's bea??
found the in8!
ruru, I see you lurking...are you a vi7. I don't know exactly what you do.
which i is it from, phae?
4th column
hmm...I have a 7 from there but not seeing it. will keep looking.
finally found that right A
not outside hokie in8
well, i've been trying all around that
'morning, all
st teresa of avila: the in8 castle
you down here welki?
no idea what that means
not quite yet - umatilla, oregon
welki!
I have a friend out in Gualala right now. Heard of that ruru?
thanks for the in8!
yes.. lovely area.. about three hours from me
Something tells me this is not a Saint Teresa crowd
Except maybe that statue of her getting it on with the angel 😀
ah, thank you wiki. I was actually using an inside in5 as a prefix, not looking for a whole word that means that.
i'm not a vi7 hokie
they were in napa for a while and then went to visit family in gualala. beautiful view from the house.
I was raised protestant, therefore I know none of the saints.
one of the prettiest areas in the state.. gorgeous and remote there
some us us are recovered catholics :)
I'm an atheist so I have no idea about saints
meaning that we have recovered from being raised catholic
but i can tell you that Saint Teresa ain't no saint
I am a retired Catholic
that's a great place to be molly
I don't think you ever recover from it. It's in your bloodstream if you were raised in it. I can still say parts of the Latin mass.
i object to your "therefore", hokie - i was raised protestant too... AND i bet you know saint patrick at the very least ;)
all I remember about Saint Teresa is that she's the patron saint of headache sufferers
Objection sustained.
i only remember St. Theresa d"Avila, my fifth grade teacher....hello all....
hi pen
we were past vatican II so mass was in italian for me
mr. homie is a recovered/retired catholic. you know, 11 kids, catholic schools, the whole deal. it was a big discussion when his sister got married and asked us to "bring down the gifts". a) no idea what that meant and b) his mother decided since it wasn't the actual body of Christ yet I could touch it.🙄
Remember when nuns used to take male names. My second grade teacher was Sister James Bernard'
hurshy, I almost added, except for St. Patrick!
hey pen
Sr. St. Arthur was my second grade teacher... ;o)
so if sister james became a saint she'd also be a dog?
hey welki, carla, everyone else....
well i have learned a couple of good ones over the years, like St Dymphna, she's the patron saint of mental illness
Saint Joan of Arc is well known. As is Saint Valentine.
and St Gertrude of Nivelles, the patron saint of cats, who has the same day as St Patrick
I was an altar girl for a while there, pretty progressive of our small town priest to allow girls by the altar. It just made mass much less boring and he only smacked the boys for being rowdy
wow, that is progressive. mr. homie was an altar boy. he liked being let out of school to do funerals.
i always wanted to be an altar boy (no altar girls where I grew up)....
My father was not a fan of allowing altar girls. We thought it was amusing that not only was there an altar girl in his funeral mass but a woman Coast Guard officer who helped carry his casket at the cemetery.
mael is a lot younger, but I've never heard of altar girls
i don't know many kids who would object to being let out of school for any reason
none in my day...
it was novel in my day and we're talking about the 90s
Lightening bolts would have struck the church if they let me be an altar girl.
heck, i went to Catholic school in the 50s and 60s.... ;o)
I was confirmed and all (because I had to be, thanks mom) but became an atheist soon after
I never quite believed past childhood but was only allowed to stop going to church when I turned 13 or so
i got kicked out of sunday school
pen, we are awarding you a small tiara today
me??
yes, I'll let you try to figure out why
oh, name that british actress in the grid!
Helen Mirren
✅✅✅
ah, i see it....*putting the mini tiara on proudly*....
i don't get the tiara.. what am I missing?
mi avatar is a clue....
I was going to give you one too if you were a vi7. pen is a mainer.
oh.... well we bow to that she pays a lot of taxes
anyone finished the V? I still need one.
gotta support all of our old people....
finally a gray row. no matter it's the 4th which has the least words.
found my last a's.. just m's to go
tis a weird grid
wow, still have 5 a's left and I'm all out of ideas. need 3 + 2 M's.
yeah, too many duplicate letters going different directions.
hmm, mrs. eisenhower counts!
yeah, already had that
stuck at 20 left - A5 E i2 M3 N O2 V M2 T3 - 3-6-7-4 - guess I will look one more time and then get on with my day.
there are a few odd m's gotta say that
found an M!
but it wasn't an odd one
do you have lucy's friend?
found an A finally
I thought lucy's friend was ethel
her last name
aha, thanks
always think of the maids only ðŸ˜
3-4-4-3
you just like the palindrome
2-6-5-4
well who doesn't like palindromes?
0-0-0-0-
congrats ru!
nice
I shouldn't hyphenate zeroes.. it reminds me of that old asshole
do all the Vs relate to each other? the 4 i have do
same
oh technically i guess the first one doesn't relate, i assumed it did but on looking it up it is a musical instrument from india
ooh, found another M
well, it relates as far as the 3rd letter is the same in all 4
yeah
I have tried a lot of other things there but no go
You all are going to get people so confused about Lucy's friend
lol, just looked up the def for ox5. of course.
*passing some Arrid over to carla*.....
phantom: terminal
you're very close to a 7
how's that molly?
I have tried termina about 5 times just in case
change last letter
change the last vowel...
just latin pluralize it :)
yep, just did
Is Carla having that not so fresh feeling?
I guess the singular ends in -us
hi everyone.. still doing first pass here
she looked up ox 5...
aren't there strings attached to that feeling?
oh arm pits :D
don't leave us dangling, all tangled up
hi aloy...
Yes, but Michael Jordan can help you with it.
Unless you tamp on his feelings.
hi pen.. your mini tiara is sparkly
of course it's brittish
if it's not scottish it's crap!
pen's tiara is a nose piercing ring with little diamons
hey aloy
diamonds
ty, aloy.... :oD
ru you are in fine fettle
two cups of coffee aloy .. i'm wide awake
Pen, I wanted to give you a beany with a whirlygig on it. But since Carla is in charge of everything, it was a mini-tiara
ruru, still no help on that missing V?
ah.. I'm on my second one now; maybe that will help
wow, I'm honored you have put me in charge of everything
i will take both, thanks....
put tin foil on the whirlygig pen and you'll get better reception
ty for the tip!
reception for what? aliens?
i try to keep an open mind....and an open channel... ;o)
remember that funny skit for veggie vita vitamins? or something like that .. vinamin made me think of it. Was that Lucille Ball?

hey hoke :)
if you don't mind, can you do the V first? no one will help with my missing one. did you get it and remain secret, hurshy?
i have not got it
lots of leftover potato soup and reubens here
missing one v also
same here...
mmm, potato soup sounds good. I'm a bit chilly in my house.
Deli Saint Patrick's Day
It is not soup weather here. We are in the 60's
what shocked me was the price of corned beef.. haven't bought it in ages
68 here but I think I'm underdressed. I put on shorts and a tee today since I got really hot on my walk yesterday.
and yes, I am out of my pjs before noon! it's a miracle.
when I was taking it out of the pot, a small sliver fell off and hubby gasped, "save it.. must be at least $3 worth".. yup
my mom used to make corned beef on toast a lot when I was a kid and we didn't have a lot of money so it must've been cheap then.
I remember corned beef hash too
when I google that now it's apparently creamed chipped beef on toast.
good stuff
vi6: lots of energy + chef Garten, the barefoot contessa
gracias. I tried that with one less letter.
and the recipes show it's dried beef from a jar so I guess that's why it's cheap. and I don't think I've ever seen dried beef in a jar in a grocery store.
ah...another botanical term...ty, hursh....
again, where is bea??
i have never looked for dried beef in a jar in the grocery store.. :o|
good point, I haven't either. just never noticed any.
ty hurshy!
there is a canned version of it.. I'm sure that is what my mom used
military has a slang for it.. "s*** on a shingle"
my father was a butcher....no canned meat in my house...
bet you learned a lot from him, pen..
mmm...potted meat
hc--try the canned meat section--my dad always go the dried beef for SOAS --armour dried sliced beef in a jar with a shiny blue label
that is it, donna!
oh, I have no plans on making it. I wouldn't eat it when I was a kid either. don't like gravy.
Corned beef was ungodly expensive this year.
i didn't shop in a grocery store until i was an adult and had moved far away from home...
i worked in my father's store, of course...
not in our diet now for sure.. sausage and biscuits out too..
there was some potted meat I liked as a kid, maybe hormel, wrapped in a white paper.
Underwood Deviled Ham used to be wrapped in white paper
yeah, never liked biscuits and gravy either. not the best southerner or hillbilly you ever met
of course we loved it as kids, but Dad only cooked when Mom was away. He learned to love it during WWII--my brother and I made the toast
yes, deviled ham I actually liked
Love biscuits and gravy
phantom: minaret
phantom: nimrod
it's possible I would like gravy now, but I was very picky as a kid.
cinamon
phantom: cinnamon....
5
another phantom

oh, your cinnamon tally. so you weren't rating me earlier as a 4.
i don't have time to keep track of the chat... ;o)
Of course you don't. You have all those word games to play.
exactly....why do something tedious when you can do something fun....
Morning all. Rainy in Nashville. Your corned beef is making me hungry. Haven't had it in years!!!
maybe she has tennis today too!
wish i did, carla...played yesterday...

finito.. my fav. word for the day is me6.36 because I knew the plural but never knew the singular.
oh, will look for that now, thx aloy. have a good day!
yep...the one I kind of vaguely clued

Hi BDG

I myself am a miniman
yeah, I actually tried that earlier and thought of mini me in austin powers
I actually know a retired Judge whose last name was miniman

Hey Bugs, Champ, Peri, Mkg, Cow etc 😊
Soodle! Nice to see you here again.
Soodle!
Wishing you better luck with this than I'm having!
this one is horrible for sure
when in doubt, end in where you find coal
Yes, I'm sure you're right Bugsaw. stupid grid.
You too Bugs. And you, Champ. I’ve been in the recovery position most of today after St Patricks Day shenanigans.
I wondered if you celebrated. Hope you had fun.
good for you!
Today the A's are annoying me.
Oh, I sure did, Bugs. It was different this year. I hosted a displaced Ukrainian family for dinner. By golly. They can knock vodka back, those Ukrainians.
How lovely!
How lovely to give them some fun! We are still waiting for huge numbers of them to get here. That culture can party, for sure. Weddings can go on for a week.
It was a very small gesture of solidarity with the awfulness of what’s happening there. We actually had great fun, despite me not speaking Ukrainian, & their English poor. Google translate came up with some hilarious results!! But I think the evening was a success. (I.e. nobody got food poisoning)
Enough vodka nd you were probaby both speaking the same language! :)
I think your welcoming was all they really needed. Well done.
You did tell them you don't celebrate like that every day, I hope!
By the end of the night, Champ, we were speaking in tongues!!!! 🤣. I’m finished this grid. Anybody need clues before I turn in?
What? You just zoom in and FW this sucker? What a woman!
Nah, Bugs. Every day Chez Soodle is party day. 🥳🥳🥳🥳
I'm going to the list for my last 28. Thx though.
I just finished too and must get back to trying to program a new telephone. This one rings nonstop until you get there or throw a shoe at it.
No no no Champ. Been noodling this bad boy all day….
Stupid, stupid grid!
and the stupidest word of all is me 6,36
good luck
Clue it please?
Note to self. DO NOT CALL BUGSAW unless I want a shoe in my ear.
Me 6/36. A collection of males, plus opposite of out, plus highest scoring tile on todays grid.
not ladies + the last part of a certain breed of cat
or what Soodle said. hee hee
Thank you for two fabulous clues! never would've gone there.
Or what Bugs said!! Lovely chatting with you fabulous ladies. Good night & God bless. 😊😊
Night Soodle! Glad to see you!
