morning babblers
good morning beautiful girl.
hello my dear friend! *hugs* and how ar you doing today?
ugh, phantom: torment
all good thanks. all my usual Wednesday chores done except for making bed with the clean sheets. *hugs* and how are you today?
also adornment a phantom
pretty good. Just drove Caya to work, she stayed longer in the shower than she realised, lol. Happens to me too, I zone out when in the shower.
i know what you mean. i have to be careful about that too. i just love sitting there with the hot water gently pouring over my upper back.
same. So I totally understood and was more than willing to drive her to school. Will pick her up later too. Two more weeks and then it is summer holidays for her.
our school hols start next week for 2 weeks. so no community morning teas, and no gym with the physio. but i will do my program here at home. i have all the equipment.
you totally rock
i didn't do the exercises one set of hols, paid dearly for it. so i MUST do them at least 3 times each week.
yeah, then you know why you do it
exactly.
oh, I must show you the blanket I just finished! Let me app you a pic, hold on
there. Check it out when you feel like it
ot's gorgeous. i love the colours. it looks christmassy.
ahem *** it's ****
it is for a friend who loves butterflies and art deco. I thought it had both.
it does that to a T
cannot send it to her until the end of the week, she is away for the week, lol. It is burning a hole in my closet right now.
* giggle *
am actually starting a new blanket and it has squirrels in it! Will think of you a lot while working on it.
red or grey?
they will be multicolored. Against a black background. Also acorns, leaves, ladybugs, butterflies and owls.
sounds lovely. can't wait to see the finished item. how long will it take you do you think?
no idea. I have found that I work best when letting go of the result or schedule. Just one stitch at a time.
like life then. one step at a time.
yeah. I used to put pressure on myself and the result was that I didn't enjoy the process. Took me 50 years but I finally figured it out LOL
not long at all... * grin *
*giggles*
and it's called pacing.
yeah. Pacing myself. Relax into the process and don't put time limits on stuff that doesn't need it.
old dear at church wants me to join in with the beanie knitting, she simply doesn't understand about the cramps. this is the one who is a narcissist and reminds me vividly of my mother. i will give it a go, but it might take me while even using size 7 needles and thick wool.
and to be completely honest... when I was 11, I was tested to see which school I should attend and what possible careers would fit me. The outcome was I was highly intelligent but also very tightly strung, unhappy and beyond perfectionistic. The advice was to learn to take things easy, to 'go with the flow'. Yeah. I know. Took me some time to learn .
nah! Sweetie, don't! You do not need to cater to any narcissist. And if you do not enjoy knitting, or if it gives you pain, you'd be silly to even try it. You do plenty enough for the church as it is.
they knit beanies for the Seafarers Mission, and for the homeless. knowing how my hands cramp i am not very happy about knitting again. so i went out and bought 2 supermarket bags full of yarn, different colours
brilliant. That is more than enough participation, honey. NO is a very good answer to pressure, you know
i know.
omg I found an 8 and it is a compound and I didn't need prompting!
*hugs rose* I know your heart, sweetie. It is always willing. So you need your brain to make sure your body can keep up.
well done sprite
lol. Have to savour those little accomplishments...
i am so looking forward to the pool tomorrow. just the thought of that lovely warm water is delicious.
I can imagine. I used to do gymnastics in warm water too. Problem was, getting out and then getting dry and dressed again was too much. My body couldn't manage. But I loved the warm water and being so light and able to move.
they have turned the temperature of the water up too. compensating for our bitterly cold weather.
ouch. Didn't know it got so cold there.
we have been down to very low single digits overnight lately. and they are predicting a week of antarctic type weather coming up from the south.
good grief. Somehow I had the idea it was always kinda warm overthere. As in no need for central heating.
i'll take pics if we get snow. we had snow before but that was nearly 30 years ago. our alps get a lot of snow and we have some pretty amazing skiing.
just realised how silly of me. Australia is huge, must have all climates there are, somewhere!
even in the centre of Australia the overnight temps can be freezing. then during the day it gets blisteringly hot. same day...
crazy. No way for the body to work with that!
the top end of Australia is in the tropics. and in Tasmania they have snow all over every year.
we are less extreme here, though still pretty crazy. We have had temps close to freezing a few weeks ago, lots of rain, and now it is in the 30s.
usually in Melbourne it is pretty temperate, but this year I am wearing thick woolen jumpers, and fleecy hoodies.
oh and btw, we have microplasmic pneumonia happening here. a bacterial infection, usually children, but the adults are going down like flies. not really sick, just a persistent dry cough and headaches. fortunately it's a simple case of get the antibiotics. unfortunately there is no vax, and you can catch it multiole times.
I am glad you were here when the weather kinda behaved. If you'd come this year, you would have had more rain than you can imagine, very low temps and lots of storms.
brb, nature calls
okay.
back
yay!!
am gonna make banana bread today. First time.
oohhh. love banana bread. but bananas don't keep over here, at least not in my home. someone always finds them.
lolol
i wonder if i hide them in the washing machine ?????
yeah. Or behind the iron.
* giggles *
hey the cupboard with all the cleaning stuff. he'd never look there. lol
see? Always a solution somewhere
fireflies. That was fun. *hugs* my darling! Have a lovely evening and sleep well.
* hug * my darling. will be latish tomorrow.

Fun fact of the day. The real name for the hashtag (formerly known as the pound sign) is octothorp. Let that one fly at one of your word nerd gatherings.
:)
Probably coined at Bell Labs in the late 1960s or early 1970s, apparently - the "thorpe" part may mean "field, hamlet or small village", but this isn't certain
The symbol appeared on Remington Standard typewriter ( c. 1886), so octothorpe presumably what it was called originally.
morning all
octothorpe presumably *isn't* what it was called originally - actually it seems to have been called either the number character/mark/sign or pound sign depending on its use
hi moo
hey Gillie, happy Wednesday
So much for fun facts
Sorry - you sent me down a rabbit hole
"Thorpe" may also have been chosen because someone at Bell Labs was a fan of the athlete Jim Thorpe
Ts Toppled!
a fellow alum of my college who is a psych professor posted on FB about how similar conversations between young people with neurodivergences are to conversations between old ladies
like talking about doctors and diagnoses and difficulties
i thought that was funny/interesting
Well, I guess if you're neuro-divergent, you're likely to be preoccupied with what doctors have to say about it
mhm
Unless he meant more generally

Any clues for the i word in first column welcome. Ty. Mael do you have it?

oh, interesting, thanks mael
in Italy it's slang to say "id4 con patate

What is ice cream a the mountain?
ice cream on the mountain is a gathering where we make and eat ice cream. I work in the kitchen to make the lunches and dinners.
we gather in NY near MA
how is oxon not in the dictionary.
I thought it used to be.
Western Mass? Berkshires?
eastern NY, though we cross the MA line twice on our way up the mountain. It is in the Berkshires. It's about 45 min E of Pittsfield, and an hour W of Albany.
Western MA a wonderful area.

Back. Hurshy, that S you found doesn't happen to be the sa7 I need is it? Right after the Indian dress.
