morning babblers
morning, sprite
hiya seain!
tonight I'm up late due to a late walk to the store.
my luck!
phantom chaise
and harvest
and cavern
babble loves a good tease
:)
now epee
I so want to switch the H and S tiles.
yes, that would be nice
having played this for many years, as I've gotten older, I'm finding im' more likely to type Spanish words without thinking.
oh yes. And yiddish words. And currencies. And oddball words.
I realised recently that I have played this game for 20 years. Imagine!
schlemiel, Schlamassel, Hassenpfeffer, Incorporated!
roflol
that was the opening to the them to Lavern and Shirley, a US sitcom in the 1970s.
them, not them
ah, lol, I was wondering what brought on that specific random collection
Hello, all. Sprite, you’ve been playing for 20 years? I stared playing back in 2002 or ‘03. I thought you were here before me!
I started in Sep 2008. Didn't speak in chat until very late December.
Sues
I stpped playing for quite a while because of some hostil posters & also my family stressors ( hubby’s illness & our sons political beliefs)
Now I just try to play grids & usually try not to chat much.
gosh, we were young.
now somewhat less so.
hiya Nef and mab! Glad to see you in chat.
I stopped for a while too, but am glad to be back
Nef, I started earlier but became pro in 04. So that is 20 years.
sorry I was late in responding, dog vomited all over the bed, ughhhh, had to clean up and get the washing machine working.
the person who referred me had been here for years before he hold me about it. So 20 feels right
I just noticed my profile says I joined in 2005, so evidently I played anonymously for a couple of years!
yeah same for me. Wow, remember those days? When you could play for quite a while without being given unasked for clues and stats?
I keep a good thought for you and husband, nef. and you, sprite. I think your husband has had some heart issues? I was very shocked to find that I have sever arterial disease.
yes, he does, thank you. That is a tough thing, mab, am so sorry. I hope it is manageable?
oh, 2005 for me too. 19 years in the blink of an eye
I do recall waiting several hours to give any stats.
I'm not sure. it's really rather quite bad. due to an autoimune illness most of my life and constant inflamation. who would have thought.
am so sorry, mab. Not easy to live with.
it used to be bad form to give clues and stats without being asked, and the first hour or so you weren't supposed to ask at all. No tile stats or word stats either back then, just the grid.
I'm sorry to hear that mab
and i have no other markers for this. no symptoms. must get lots of exercise. there will be no reversal but, I don't know. cardiologist appt soon.
will hold you in my thoughts and prayers, mab.
i do so miss the brits. thank you all.
will hold you in the light, mab
how lovely. how i miss d.c.. my little newport place.
We are now in assisted living & we know several residents here with arterial disease. Right now a dear fried was told Sunday that the pain in her leg is an arterial clot & she has had enough surgeries that they can’t fix it anymore ( she hasseveral other problems besides the arterial disease). She called her hubby from thee ER & told him jokingly that she’s on her last leg & was coming home to die. (She’s 91, so not a surgical candidate with her heart & other issues).
that is sad, Nef. But I love her sense of humour.
poor thing. i know many get philosophical about their own and others' aging.
readin Lore Moore - writes fiction now about very old upper west side people. somehow makes it hilarious. she herself is in her 90s I think.
sounds fun
these people never give up living their lives.
Both she & her hubby said that they knew that this would happen some day because of all of her other issues. Neitherare depressed about it, they both are prepared for it. Thry’ve been married 67 yrs. & are quite sharp & aware of what’s ahead.
it's definitely the trick not to stop living until you are dead
somehow, Nef, that is beautiful. Sad, but very beautiful.
cooee and g'day from me. * hugs * sprite. * hugs * nef, * hugs * mab.
oh nef, i see you as middle aged in my head.
hiya rose! How are you doing?
hi rose.
somewhere over the rainbow sprite.
spring coming on for you soon
*hugs rose*
Right, sprite! I have another dear ladty here who is 101 & was told she has colon cancer & is terminal. So she got Hospice in, quit eating for a week & then figured out thar
i slept through to 6:20am last night. on a Tuesday !!
you sleepyhead!
* giggle *
oh, age doesn't even matter. I want everyone to live forever.
when my grandmother died, my grandfather said he was grateful to be able to do this last thing for her: to be the one left alone. I thought that was so touching.
used to volunteer for hospice, thinking of doing that again.
That she couldn’t rush her death, so she let the 24 hr Hospice service go & she’s back playing cards, socializing & knitting dish cloths like crazy again.
oh wow Nef, amazing. Such spirit
physio here at the hospital showed me how to add metres to my laps around the ward. i am now doing almost a total of 2 kilometres when i do my 6 laps during the day.
you are amazing too, rose
Isn't that the thing. you just go on.
the elderly never ce5 to amaze me. their fighting spirit is a thing of awe.
and some are done. of course, pain is defeating, etc.
so cheery i am tonight. sorry.
pain is something that eats up your energy. I have been living with chronic pain for... oh my, over 28 years now. You either learn to manage it or you are eating up alive.
eaten*
I’dlove to stay & chat longer with you all, but my eyes are closing & I
sleep well, Nef. It was lovely to catch up with you.
sweet dreams, Ned, it's been nice to see you
sweet dreams dear nef.
night nef.
seain's autocorrect is having a ball
Hi all!
Keep falling asleep now. Good night. Happy Babbling!
hiya Kam! *hug*
hey Kam * hugs * honey
I hope you all are doing well, even dealing with the chronic pain. It's a daily fight we all want to win!
for you with chronic infammatory, autoimmune things, do be checked for arterial issues.
I had a really hard time learning to stay within my limits. I prolonged my suffering quite a bit that way. So headstrong, lol. Nowadays, I more or less respect my limits, keeping my workload low, lots of recovery time in between. That works. Still in pain, but no longer exhausted so much better able to cope.
good pointer, mab, thanks
effective treatments if sought early.
I am gonna pass that on to my child-in-law. They have FM and Chronic Fatigue. Pretty sure there is autoimmune issues there.
rose, when are you going into hospital again?
sorry to butinsky here. sprite, my stylus for my phone lost it's tip. thought i didn't have another one then remembered one i had in my hand bag. so i am again able to message you.
ah, wonderful! I missed you.
saturday is Brigitte's cremation. We will be underway most of the day, it is in the middle of the country and of course they are working on the road in several places, so long traffic jams. We will bring Nero to Caya and Juno, no use dragging his hairy little body with us in a hot car.
a lot to struggle through darling. make sure you take of yourself properly.
yes, will make sure we have plenty of water with us. And something to eat as well. And we will leave early, so no stress to be in time. Better to wait there.
i'm in hospital now sprite. that's what i meant when i said i had slept for so long overnight on a Tiesday. usually takes me another 24 hours to settle down to doing that.
ahhhhh now I get it. I was thinking I had it wrong that it was hospital time already. Am glad it is going so well this time!
your not slow at all sprite. it's just the way your dressed... lol
ugh...you're....not your
roflolol I love you too
there, i made sprite laugh. my job here is done.
I hope all goes smoothly for both of you.
thanks Kam
is it cooling down a little over thereKam?
It did for a couple of days, but we are due for very high temps over the next weekend. It was too hot tonight to open the windows and door. I'm glad I have good AC.
i'm glad you have it too.
once we find our place to live, I might consider getting AC. I simply HATE hot weather.
There is NO way I could live without it here. We have weeks on end of over 95F and this year has had weeks of over 100F. Too hot for me!
it is always a dilemma here. Because it is not often that hot. But when it is, it is so humid and unbearable. Plus, it happens more often nowadays. Sometimes for weeks on end. So yeah. Maybe a portable AC.
As we get older, staying comfortable is more important!
I find I function less and less in hot weather the older I get. The headaches are getting worse, the joint pains, the muscle cramps. And the feeling of having two elephants on my shoulders, lol. So yeah. I'd say being comfortable is becoming more important.
i love my A/C. every morning i get up, kiss it and say i love you. then i say good morning to Don.
Definitely! I bought a solar system over a year ago because our electric company raised rates so high because of all of the fires they caused. They paid out millions, if not billions, because so many homes burned down.
oh dear. Amazing, isn't it, how we always end up paying for their mistakes?
They have really been trying to improve their infrastructure. Helicopters are always flying around inspecting the lines. I think it has been a couple of years since they were found guilty of starting a fire. They are working hard to make it safer, and the feet on the ground are good people.
I'm glad to hear that. But it makes sense rates went up therefore. sigh
yes, of course they are. I am just frustrated that in the end, the consumer pays. It may be the company that is to blame for the fires and they pay out billions, but then they turn around and take back their money by raising their rates. In stead of cutting their whatiscalleds. Gains. Winnings. You know.
I know. But the state controls rate increases and has allowed all of the ones they requested. That is annoying.
very annoying
agreed that that is annoying, kamanjah
fireflies. A very enjoyable grid, apart from those H and S tiles that should be switched.
yay sprite
One of the downsides of living in California! I've been here all my life, and I've been in this house since 2000. I'm too old to move anywhere else!
Yay Sprite!
I think I'm going to finally sleep.
happy babbling, yall!
G'night! I'm not far behind you.
sleep well, seain
am gonna love and leave you. *hugs* my dear friends. You are such a lovely start of my days. I wish you all a peaceful night and a blessed day.

1st pass done , 41 left - bbl - have a great day all - "poof"
have to say these words aren't jumping out at me
oh man, moved wrong this morning and went from a sore muscle in my back to an absolute steel rod. Makes for such a joy to be at a computer desk all day for work...
ugh. maybe try to stand every so often? I admit I don't know a lot about back troubles.
I do have a standing desk option but I can't currently lift the thing
I have extended experience with back pain. Ibuprofen and a heating pad.
right now, no heating pad. Lidocaine patch.
Those can be a problem for back pain for those with no one to put it on for you. The twisting you have to do to get a patch on your own back can cause exacerbation of the pain.
My sis helped me out :) otherwise definitely would have skipped it
The thing that helps my back the most when it's out is a brace, similar to those belts the UPS and FedEx guys wear. For some reason, that support is wonderful for back pain.
well, finished first pass. barely got HOET on several tiles. 59 left for after tennis. TTFN. good luck with the back pain, kiani.
thx
good morning
first day of school for my kiddos today
on a Wed? Seems weird
my g'daughter starts today
gets weirder, it's a half day like every Wednesday, then they go tomorrow, and then they're off until Tuesday.
sometimes they like to ease the kids back into it
that's the rationale but it never works out that way
huh. I don't remember that from when I was in grade school. Granted, that was a while ago :)
how is re(MRI) not a word???

now wondering what the french looking but not re6 is
It sounds like to stitch again
merci
grocery store cashiers have to rescan all the time. re words are so freaking random.
was almost going to complain about re7/36 being a ridiculous, annoying word, but learned it does not mean what I thought it meant
tu 6/27 please?
don't believe I have that one (re7)
tu6 is sounds like the 4 after it.
I also do not have the tu6
a fancy way to spell tu4/6
The tu is like the tu4 with an extra cons in the middle and a vowel at the end.
ty bea
wow, could not wrap my head around going that direction, thanks everyone
yw
5 v's left, but will have to wait for later
33 total here. 9-10-9-5 yuck
phantom revamp
found the re7. now wondering what it actually does mean.
Weird word.
Apparently, according to Collins English Dictionary: 1. (in a hunt) the sounding of the horn to call back or signal to the hounds. verb (intransitive) 2. (of a huntsman) to sound a horn to call back or signal to the hounds in a hunt.
re7 the sounding of the horn to call back or signal to the hounds. def above my station

looks like that is my P
aha, thx
It looks like plural cats
my last one was a plural three :)
I have tried that with th4 several times 🤣
found my last 4
not finding anything now
wtg!
I think he just meant his last 4 letter word and not his last 4 words, but I could be wrong
yeah, I still have a 5 and two 6s to go :)
T S C
but I do appreciate the enthusiasm for me finding a word :D
found my C
I think I've reached babble blindness
We are nothing if not enthusiastic!
yep, listing for these last 11
a lot of latin/greek/french sounding words in this one
Well, my last T supports that statement moo
struggling with ce6/24
That's my last one too. No clue.
also no idea on the es7
My last 4 was a fish...should've seen it ages ago.
oh, nm
well last R was a plural
T and S left....5 and a 6
Mine was too! Was it fake french?
yep
well I don't feel bad about either of my last 2 4 letters
Good! Just finished the stupid V's
me too. took a while. wondering if my last 2 v's are a stupid alt sp
I need 2 S's Sc5 and and sh7. Help?
still need 2 S and that C
same too S's 🤣
Well at least we can feel stupid together.
same two
found the 5, ends in a cons like something you might stab someone with in prison
the 7, just add a vowel to the 6
That's annoying! Thank you!!!
ok, the c looks like the singular of a plural we have all the time and I typed earlier just in case I wasn't seeing it
never have looked it up but it's an ancient greek girdle
Ok...one thing at a time....the s first...
did moo finish or go back to work?
Idk. Just got the weird ass 5...
gotta take whineston out
Well I have the one that looks like a plural. you're saying the 6/24 is similar?
the c plural that isn't here is a 5 that ends in i, so the singular is of course a 6 ending in not them
because greek
you might be stuck on the wrong 3rd letter.
And that did it...thank you!!! See you tomorrow. Go walk Winston. I need to pick my 2 up from daycare.
hasta manana!
still 2 :)
If I had to guess I'd say the S is the 5 and the T is the 6
oh, and I know which T6 it is. I mean I already knew which S5 it is.
ah
back for my last 11
oh I finally found all the french words
tres bien!
or I guess tres bon!

bonne chance, have a great day!
merci beaucoup
oh, weird word
why am i SO STUCK on the C words
because they're terrible
well i just managed to monkey a few more, so i'm up to 17 now
I can guess your 4 if you want
well, maybe 3 of them
go for it (if you're still here)
i'm in and out
I'm gonna say ce6/21, ce6/24, ch6/24, and ch6/39
have ce6/21 and a ch6/24, are there just one of each of those? do need ce6/24 and ch6/39
Yes, I just one of each
The ch6/39 is another spelling of h5/22 - cantor of a synagogue, if you have that
ce6/24 is the singular of a Greek word that we often have the plural of (the plural ends in i - hokie mentioned it earlier)
do you have ch5/16 and plural?
thanks, i didn't have it, but now i got both
Well, I'm going now - good luck!
thanks, ttfn

Hello jessdraggon! How are you? Welcome to the chat log
good golly miss molly
Hi hurshy! How are you doing? Welcome back to the grid!
thanks min. i'm doing alright, how about you?
I am doing ok. I'm trying to get psyched about going back to work in September.Seems to be easier said than done.
that's for sure - esp if there are people at work who are difficult to deal with. the school where i taught for two years had a horrid woman that made things pretty miserable for a lot of us.
Yes, I do have a few difficult co-workers, but I also have some very nice co-workers too so it balances out I guess.
let me tell you, one time when i was a sub, this little second grade girl came in from recess, came up to me and said, "i'm feeling sad. my dad died last year and i was thinking about him at recess." as i comforted her, another little girl who had heard what she said came up to her and said sympathetically, "do you want to sit with me?" and the girl said yes, and they went off holding hands to sit down. those are the moments you gotta live for, amiright?
Hi Min, hursh :) I'm doing alright, thanks for asking, Min. how are you?
What a great story! I love working with kids.I did summer school and I taught 1st grade. I had the greatest students
That's super sweet, hursh
I'm doing well jesdraggon.Getting prepared to go back to work. Cannot believe how quickly summer flew by, but it always does. I had a good summer though, can't complain.I hope you had a terrific summer jesdraggon
I've been doing a ton of gardening, and thus eating way more veggies than I ever have before :)
