morning babblers
fireflies and poofing
why can't you have degu?
hi all 23 C words!!!
G'morning, Babble buds.
hello crossy!
nice to see you again, crosshair..
morning babblers
and if worzel is still around or comes back, i want to know what degu is
phantom: erasure
no, but if you drop one of the vowels it is a word
ty phaeton, needed that one!
yeah thanks!
yw
hmmm, i'm running out of F ideas way too soon
fw...any clues wanted?
Google is your friend. degu...a ratlike rodent with a long silky coat, found in southern South America
i mean, sure, but it's always nice to hear it from the OP
human connection and all that
my kids had a degu as a pet years ago
whilst living in the US, or elsewhere?
yes, here in the states
they're like gerbils or hampsters
neat
I just learned last night on reddit that I don't even need a permit to have a kangaroo here
LOL.. how nice, hokie
oh wow that's something. So are you planning on getting one? lol
phantom: emerald
I guess not
sounds like you're just taking freedom for granted
gtg but i leave you with these lyrics in case
they may fit your mood
Dream of better lives the kind which never hate Trapped in a state of imaginary grace I made a pilgrimage to save this human race Never comprehending the race had long gone by
Kangaroos must be hard to litter box train. :)
my mood is more disbelief
Though owning exotic pets is mostly illegal here these day--though we had one fellow that had a pet ferret that had been injured and could not be put back into the wild. He used to take him on walks around the block using a cat harness.
i'm near the NJ shore, a couple there had tigers ...
Imagine the food bill to feed a pair of tigers every day--and the hairball!
from the animal's viewpoint, not good to try to domesticate a wild creature
Nope.
Whoa, Modern English a blast from the 80's
We were rehabilitating a injured racoon many years back and the thing drove us crazy. Up all night going through cupboards, and he had no issues at all getting the fridge open.
they are clever rascals
'morning, folks
Howdy, Welki. :)
hi welki
I would never have a raccoon in my house. yuck.
Thing was crazy. He used to take a running leap at you when he wanted to play, but his claws were too sharp.
But he would do anything if you offered him a bit of peanut butter, or a bit of raw bacon.
In the end we got him all fixed up and reintroduced him back to the wild with no issues.
happy ending, Crossy
I would just be scared of rabies
We had him tested at the start.
whew
Though we did get a rabid fox on the farm once. It got up near the house and barn, so had access to the barn cats, dogs, and cows. Since it was mid-day and the fox was moving erratically, we shot it, and sent the body off for testing. In the end we had orders to shoot all the barn cats sadly. :(
not a happy ending to that story, crossy! time for me to scoot.. Happy Babbling to you all!
my son(5yo at time) and i would read "Little Rascal By Sterling North Paperback 1965 Scholastic Books" it was so engaging he wanted to get one .. you can only raise them from wee pups ... we saws a bunch of them foraging for food, he wanted to go pet one, i told him, they aren't are friendly as rascal ..
fl
morning all
We are going to have a rabid animal as president again
we just recently had a raccoon show up at our back door. She'd come pretty regularly...unfortunately turned out she had distemper, so we trapped her and took her the local animal rescue and they euthanized her
can they do that to presidents?
only if you're the president per the supreme court
se
vicious
Make America rabid again. :(
Checks and balances doesn't mean checkbooks and bank balances
Lol--as Trump pimps Chinese tourbillion wristwatches...
It means checkbooks and bank balances if you are Trump and his pal Elon.
Trump and Elon are much alike in that they buy the brains they need and put them on the payroll instead of needing to use their own.
I'm not sure Trump gets to buy many brains, for the most part he gets people who are either broken, marginalized or in other way are willing to compromise themselves to be loyal to Trump. Musk has had some ability to attract top talent to his companies, while at the same point having some questionable personal interactions, in some ways similar to what Steve Jobs was like...or Bill Gates for that matter. Many of these tech business leaders come with outsized egos, and questionable personal skills and certainly their moral compass can be off, but not sure as much as Trump's is. Trump was born entitled (as I guess you could say Musk was), and then learned at the hands of Joseph McCarthy's lawyer, how to go after people and use the legal system. In that case he's different from Musk.
Vance = broken, marginalized or in other way are willing to compromise themselves to be loyal to Trump. And this is the man who will be President when Trump rides off into la-la land. God help us.
I was never a regular here but used to anonymously lurk. Needed a distraction today. Looked at the chat with trepidation but am so happy to find it inline with my own thoughts today.
reg, you are not alone, i am avoiding most 'posting' ... i've an excuse, i'm supposed to be working ... god bless the USA ... have strength, i pray we overcome the adverisity looming
Reg, I'm the same. I've been babbling for 20 years but never spent time in the chat. Yesterday I was happy (well not really happy) to see so many here aligned with my thoughts. MollyL that's my big fear, that Vance will finish Trump's term. Unlike Trump, Vance actually does have a brain.
i broke my rule yesterday for not talking politics in the chog and I'm with you, mama, glad to see similar POVs but sad at the same time
sad that so many are going to be impacted negatively and not know why
I’m from the UK and most of us seem to be just as perturbed as you. His effect on the whole world is frightening.
still seems like the best thing to do is make fun of him. he seems to really hate that.
Do you think he will know you are making fun of him? Seems that that will only make oneself feel better.
Most of us will be fine for the next four years. But there are so many others that won't.
no no, i didn't mean like, us individually
i meant the people on TV and who have large followings online and stuff like that
yeah my mom said to me yesterday morning, "we're doomed!" and i was like, well, YOU'RE not doomed.
then later i said, of course if you were concerned for others, i don't mean to redirect you from that. (but her history of concern for others had initially made me fail to think of that possibility)
why did i think segura was a word
maybe it's spanish and one sees it on the internet cause it means secure or something, that would explain it
woohoo found two 8s
woohoo found another and it's more weird
I dislike words that are past with a t.
really? i love them
but then i'm a fan of old-fashioned stuff, prefer books from 18th/19th century
would anyone like to join me in declaring F the hardest letter of the day?
oooh oooh i finished them!
I have those grey.
it's the babble way
the peri principle

Late start today. If you have any interest, there is link in my profile to sign up for a 1x/month email about my book and mental health. I'm told it's important for me to reach out to groups of my peeps, and babblers are my group! :) That is all. Now I'm diving into the grid.
Hmm, we are "peeps"?
definitely! I feel a deep affinity with my fellow babblers, because we have such a sense of community. At least, it's been that way for me.
