our new neighbours decided to dig up my friend's garden. ( the lady who put herself into a care home. she was a leading permaculturist, and had the loveliest of gardens) fortunately Don gave me a heads up early enough for me to go out and ask if i could have the liliums etc that they were going to throw away.

she used to open her garden to the public every year. people came all around just to talk to her, and see what she had done.
one thing for sure, they would not have been able to give it the love and attention it needs anyway, so better they break it down now and let you have some treasures, than slowly letting it die

my friend has so many bulbs planted out. all different flowers... and they haven't dug deep enough to dredge them out. just scraped the surface.
oh, that will be the gift that keeps on giving. Bulbs, especially ones that have been there for a long time, will come back for years to come
i know. it will be a losing battle for them ( the new people ).
I used to love seeing our bulbs rise up from the darkness. As early as february for the snowdrops. And onwards until far into spring. Sometimes, a silly tulip got its wires crossed and popped up in autumn.
i love that too. sometimes i forget what's where. such a lovely surprise in spring.

oh and if you want to sound professional about it... the artform is called Zentangle. The verb is to tangle. The patterns we use are called tangles. And a finished work is a tile.

my dietician has given me just three things to change. 99% fat free yoghurt with home cooked low cal fruit, hard boiled eggs x 2 per day, and these crispbreads with tomato and/or salmon or tuna for snacks. that's all he wants me to change thus far.
oh and hard cheese only.
