6:58 am

Good morning, Babblers. :) I think I have tried the word Freon a dozen times now :/

7:28 am

What I learned today...it is illegal to pump your own gas in New Jersey. Say what?

7:29 am

9 left, mostly P's

7:30 am

Bichon is that really you? Or the person that was posting as you the other night?

7:37 am

finito -thanks Atalante and all cluers

that re7 has me stumped

7:41 am

It is not a word most people use

I wish it wasn't illegal, but I do appreciate NOT having to get out of the car to pump my own gas.

7:42 am

I think it would be nice to still have it as an option. Especially for seniors and the disabled.

7:44 am

I remember when gas stations had SELF SERVE and FULL SERVE options.

7:44 am

if you have all the 5-letter words you can find the re7, Sugrraleona

7:45 am

it's capitalism - when it gets too expensive to support that labor force unless you make not having it illegal, those Full Serve options disappear

found it - thank you so much

top row gray!

but hit the brakes on the R

well, 5 left. will take an eye break.

8:11 am

8:16 am

hi monty

I keep typing opener

8:17 am

bye monty

8:27 am

my hiatus has been in the iron sudoku....

8:27 am

bye for now - "poof"

yeah, I have only played that a handful of times in the last 15 years

8:28 am

The really high scores in the rankings are unbeatable. Those people play and finish every day. The only way to get ahead of them is if they quit playing or die.

8:36 am

yeah.. or get kidnapped by the taliban or something

8:50 am

Weird that Bichon never responded this morning. I hope she is alright.

yeah, I don't know what's going on there

Yesterday someone posted on my account

11:28 am

How could someone be posting on your account?

11:28 am

That's what I want to know

11:30 am

Are you talking about Sunday when the Inna Gadda Da Vita conversation was going on?

11:31 am

No, this was yesterday

11:31 am

11:32 am

There are no posts from you yesterday

11:33 am

re 6/21, pls

Any clue please for th o 6.21 please

11:35 am

so was there someone in your house or is mr. bichon a fan of inna godda da vita?

11:36 am

ends in a preposition, sandra

11:36 am

No way! Who is inna godda da vita

11:37 am

or sandra, last three letters are reagan's nickname (I see you're not american but maybe you'll get it)

11:38 am

bichon, it is a song from the 60s or 70s. I think the post was like a piece of trivia, and I know mr. bichon knows trivia with his jeopardy skills.

11:38 am

are you sure it wasn't him?

11:38 am

Many thanks Hokie carla

11:40 am

11:47 am

Inna-gadda-da-vita (sp), by Iron Butterfly, Vincent, by Don McLean, and Paradice by the Dashboard light, by Meatloaf. :) just those three songs back to back meant that you didn't have to reload the turntable for at least and hour if you had all three records on there. :)

11:47 am

crossy, did you work in radio too?

11:48 am

n + 3 vowels Sandraf

11:49 am

sandra, that's a greek architecture babblet, very vowelly

11:49 am

oh man. my friends band still covers Paradise by the Dashboard light. and its one of my friends' favorit ekaraoke song. lol

11:49 am

Once, a long time ago, I used to be a bit of an audiophile--back before ,y beloved made me get rid of all those milk crates of "dusty old records."

11:49 am

Ty

11:49 am

I just got a new record player and have been adding albums

11:50 am

I tried every combination but obviously not the right one! 3 to go…..

11:52 am

Ty for the na4

11:52 am

Never would have seen that one.

11:56 am

Re 6.18 please

11:56 am

sandra, there's another form of that word that replaces the last letter with s. I think that's the singular and this is the plural. just fyi for the future.

11:56 am

Many will disagree, but records(unscratched ones) have a warmth that does not exist in digital recordings--especially the LP's they used to make for "quad" systems.

11:56 am

re6 is to get a paycheck again

11:58 am

we have a new sound system and mr. homie just keeps going on about how the records sound better than our streaming music. I agree, that's why I have records still. And my oldest is a big fan, too, so we look for things for each other at record stores.

12:00 pm

He is right; Fire up Pink Floyd's The Wall record on a quad system and there is nothing else like it.

12:01 pm

No sorry cannot get it

12:02 pm

you **** a living by going to work

12:02 pm

12:13 pm

my mom's big boat of a car that I sometimes drove in high school had an 8-track player so I had to get an adapter to play my cassettes.

12:14 pm

My 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix had a factory 8-track. :)

12:14 pm

this was an early 80s caprice classic or something

12:14 pm

Had to buy a cassette tape adaptor for it.

12:15 pm

well thank goodness someone came up with the adapter

12:15 pm

They certainly were boats!

12:15 pm

I think it was bigger than mr. homie's current pickup truck

12:15 pm

Funny thing is I cannot remember ever worrying about buying gas for it.

12:16 pm

It must have had a swimming pool for a gas tank.

12:17 pm

yeah, I don't remember putting gas in it

12:18 pm

I was so happy when my dad got a lumina for his company car and he let me drive it, it was the first model year for it, and they looked completely different than later models.

12:18 pm

but it was so sporty and smaller!

12:18 pm

Seems we were $1.19/ gallon at the time.

12:19 pm

My pay back then was $3.25/hour.

12:20 pm

earliest gas price I can remember was when I was in college, .98/gal. not sure what the exchange rate was back then, but this was early 90s.

12:32 pm

2:08 pm

2:09 pm

2:13 pm

I remember the gas station sign across from my university. Gas: 55 cents a gallon. Cigarettes: 55 cents a pack.

just saw ruru's 29 cents. dang, son!

2:17 pm

Back in those days, all my best friend and I had to do was pool our weekend money for a case of Natty Boh and we were set. Ah youth. Although my taste in beer hasn't improved much.

2:20 pm

We used to chip in a dollar each, put five dollars of gas in my friends 1976 Toyota Celica, and go "booze cruising" on the back roads all afternoon. Try that now and a cop will just shoot you to save on oaperwork. :)

2:20 pm

Paperwork.

2:21 pm

That's not much booze considering the size of a Celica

2:22 pm

Five of us used to squeeze in there.

we had a regular cruising loop in my high school town. my good friends & I never drank. I don't recall seeing other people I jumped in cars with drinking, but I know they did at parties.

2:23 pm

Honestly, we are lucky to have survived that nonsense.

one of my friends had a car with no back seat. can't rem. if it was his Honda CR-X or his Mazda RX-7, but he drove me to school a lot and sometimes he'd pick up his cousin so I'd have to sit on the console/gear shifter. I remember him getting up to like 80mph once on the short drive to school.

You're right, lucky to have survived.

2:25 pm

Lol, who shifted, him ir you?

2:25 pm

Back then, there wasn't a shit ton of bad drivers on the road. I have a friend who is a police officer and he says about half the people they pull over don't even have a license, let alone insurance.

LOL, now that you mention it I think he would yell, shift! and I would do it.

2:26 pm

Insurance was cheap then--not so much now.

btw, did anyone else see oeuvre today? first word I saw only I thought it was ouvre.
