Clues are up
awesome, Lickety, thank you. Morning, babblers.
Pe8
for those who want to know: there is an EK7/64 which is the former monetary unit of Equatorial Guinea. Trust me, if you do not know the word, you will never find it. Let me know if you want me to try and clue it.
(the point count should help though)
* hugs * sprite. hello dear friend. how was your night?
*hugs rose* Not great. Rob slept pretty well though so that is a win. And the night before I slept very well. How are you doing?
i think i have a head cold. started with a very sore throat, felt like tonsilitis. nw sneezing, non-productive cough, and head full of cement.
ugh that is so nasty. I trust you are taking your own remedy faithfully? With lemons and the works?
poor you. despite all of below, i still managed to sleep quite well. are you nearly finished?
getting there. About 40 left
okay. are you up for a phone call when you have finished?
I would be. Are you, though? Might not be comfortable, a phone call with a sore throat and cough
i'll have my drink on hand. if it gets too bad i'll just say goodbye... like that's going to happen....lol
lol, okay :) Always lovely to hear your voice and connect. You did not answer my question, though. ARE you taking your home remedy for your cold?
of course. but no aspirin. already on low dose because of stents in my heart. have also found some terrific no-sugar eucalyptus lozenges. can't really taste them, but they se4 to work anyway.
yeah the eucalyptus should work regardless. Good for you!
Don suggested salt water gargles to which i said, with my gag reflex???? he acknowledged not a terrific idea.
lol, I told you about the doll house project for Caya's class, right? I am now working on a cat. I am crocheting it. On a hook that is way smaller than the pattern says, and it is so darn tiny! But fun, though a little frustrating at times
good grief! need a magnifier??
ehhhh no, honey. Bad, bad Don. Do not even try. I am the same and I tried it once and it almost killed me. THought I would choke.
lol yes, a magnifier, a strong light and lots and lots of patience. But getting there. The ears will be horrible, they will be about half a centimeter. And the tail... has to be stuffed. Can you imagine?
you'll have to send me pics of all the miniature things. don't forget to put something so i can compare the size.
ohhhh I will! Let me see.
there. Head, body and one leg
to stuff the tail could you put a thin straw into it, and blow the stuffing in?
I don't think so, the stuffing is fiberfill, I would blow right through it. It will have to be gently, gently pushing it with the crochet hook or a wooden stick or something. I will figure it out.
oh, I will send you pics of the other stuff too. Hold on.
wish i was there to watch.
you wouldn't want to watch me wrestle with the tiny cat parts. I curse a blue streak.
down to 13, in between taking pics and chatting and apping, lol. A few biggies to go
if you need a hand let me know.
5 left, one biggie among them
oh wait, there he is.
fireflies. Interesting grid, some really odd words.
it was a great grid. but those biggies. and that ek7. omg...
I added that ek7 to my list of words rarely seen except in Babble. That is just nine kinds of BS.
well, I went ahead and looked it up. foreign currency of course.
good morning all. that ek7 was in my scrabble dictionary!
hey peri
What gets me is that Enable recognizes the spelling that most dictionaries don't recognize.
Good morning, Babblers. :)
hey crossy
enable being enable, molly
after that the e
after that the e's are easy
Ty for the ek7/64. There was no way that I would have ever found that on my own.
really? still need 3 E's there.
I mean all the e's
finished the E with 9 but still need 1 on each of the 5 word E's.
On behalf of all those who were traumatized as a youngster by the 1976 animated version of Watership Down, I think Enable should accept the worn "tharn."
never even heard of that
Read the book. I could tell you all about it, but I would be doing you a disservice by doing so. It is one of those stories that must be read at least once in your lifetime.
I have heard of the phrase, not sure as a movie or a book, but have not heard of the animated version. but I haven't read it.
The animated version was aired in prime time, but it was quite unapologetically gory when dealing with death. The animation style did not help either. If tou have ever seen the old animated version of the Lord of the Rings, it was dome in the same style.
Excuse the typos
do you mean the hobbit? or did they do LOTR too?
Might have been just The Hobbit. It has been many, many years since I have seen it.
I can picture the animated bilbo so I have an idea of what you are saying.
Yes, that type of animation, but with sentient rabbits.
whew I almost misread your post hokie
ruhroh
I DID misread it.
of course you did :D
hey, I can't be responsible for y'all's bad reading comprehension
Round Barn, tell them about the time you walked Watership Down with Richard Adams himself
My kids watched that animated Hobbit so many times I could probably recite it by heart and sing all the songs.
term
sorry!
((Roundbarn)), I still have your lovely gift of books residing in my bookcase.
GOOOOOD morning all
hey hurshy
i am crying tears of joy, because some aid trucks have been allowed to enter Gaza
it is my birthday, what a great present that is!!
oh, happy birthday
Morning, Hurshy. :)
Happy birthday!
happy birthday! and a small bit of good news.
mean
oops
thank you :)
Crossy, thank you! I read you every day.
Yes,we climbed Watership
oh my
:)
sorry, hard to type right at 97
oh my goodness
wow, i bet it is!
Good morning
hey christa
No problem at all, Roundbarn. You are among freinds. Besides, I am the typo king these days. :)
at 97 you deserve an award every day just for being alive :D
I watch the chat every day but rarely enter.
well, we're glad to see you today
Yes, makes the times you do join us more special. :)
well if I'm still here at 97 I'm going to be cranky in the chat
Going to be?
lol
ha
I read your words every day too, Ru
oh .. hope I don't bore
you
I know the world hasn't ended when you're there
well ... the direction this country is going I'm not so sure
nor am I
hi, everyone! nice, lively chat this morning :)
welki!
hi welks
August first is going to be very interesting to say the least. :/
oh jeez no kidding
it's a confederacy of dunces
apparently there are betting organizations where you can bet on whether trump will complete this term, and they recently reduced the odds he will
Seems our reps say now that it is looking like Canada will not be able to work a deal with the Trump team regarding trade tariffs.
one time I was on vacation and the rental house had the book confederacy of dunces. I started it late in the week and never finished it.
i didn't even know it was a book
it's a good book too
is it available on Audible?
oh yeah. by john kennedy toole. I believe he killed himself and his mom pushed to get it published.
not sure, roundbarn. I will look.
was a very good book. but I read it so so very long ago
hi doren
what's my last p?
well that's a sad background
'morning, dorens
morning welkin. and all
I must get back into reading my books more. Way too much social media these days.
sorry ru, i at least am nowhere near far enough along to be of any help
Mirning, Dorens. :)
I've tried everything I can think of.. don't want to list yet
well sometimes you have to go back and forth, work on something else and come back to it
oh no, 307? And I'm limited on time today. Going into the city this afternoon- tickets to see John Oliver and Seth Meyers and very excited that I'm actually feeling well enough to drive in!
yes, it is on audible, and on sale right now for 413.99
WHAT
oh, enjoy, dorens
that's good doren.. did it go ok yesterday?
lol, $13.99
oh i see, you forgot to hit shirt
shift
quite a typo
all is well. bad reaction at first treatment but second was a piece of cake
I didn't actually forget, just probably didn't time it right
ok.. that's good I was thinking about you yesterday
hoping it went well
that's good dorens! so glad you'll be able to enjoy the comedy
no treatments on weekends
You are in my thoughts, Dorens. I am glad you are tolerating the treatments well. :)
i'm trying adding -le4 to a lot of things. some of them work. i'm kind of glad it doesn't work on tea, because i would really HATE to be teale4!
I still remember how ill the IV chemo made me feel. :(
yes, me too, dorens
more good news: my friend's dog finally threw up the toy he ate like over a week ago. she has been worried about it all week
huh
yjhs
that's risky to wait
she didn't, she took him to the vet but
they couldn't see it on x-ray
and he didn't have specific problematic symptoms
so they just gave her some meds and said come back if he gets symptoms
That is good. We got very lucky with one of our labradors; he ate a sock, but ended up throwing it up right before the vet appointment.
oh.. they can force vomiting
i think she did wait too long for them to be able to force vomiting, before going to the vet
it was too far down in the system
but she said if he ever does that sort of thing again she will go right away for them to induce vomiting
I had a lab that had 3 surgeries and several other times where he was able to throw up or pass something. also our last golden had surgery to remove a corn cob.
makes you wonder how the species has survived this long, eh? lol
Ms Managed!
Our boy once ate an entire leash--metal buckles, snaps and all.
well i've mentioned it before, but my cat fritz once bit a bulb off a strand of twinkle lights and swallowed that, jagged glass edges and all
Goldens and Labs will eat anything
yep
as will fritz
Made him vomit up the rope, but he ended up pooping out the metal buckles and fasteners.
Holy crap
Indeed.
they are so crazy
But twinkle lights? That had to hurt coming back ot!
Out
winston somehow opened a bag of mini snickers and ate them, wrappers and all. I also had a long standoff with him when he snatched up a corn cob on a walk.
well i never saw it so i can only assume it was well coated in poop when it came out
and when he was a puppy, he also bit off a christmas tree light. I was trying to piece together all the pieces to make sure he didn't swallow any.
crazy crazy kidses
yep
Good morrning, frriends.
bea!
girrrl
morning bea
I once had to give my dog an "assist." He was passing a piece of rope, but it got stuck halfway throught
oh dear
been there too
did ruru find his missing P?
...through. so there I am, gloves on, gently pulling, and a guy walking by says "Strangest looking lawnmower that I have ever seen!"
lol
i do NOT see how there can be four more H words
I still need 3
well that's one better than me at least :D
I don't see any that you would have missed
do you have ha8?
yeah, was proud i found that, and two ha7
do you have ha4/6 and pl?
i have two such pairs yes
yeah, IDK
just found one that rhymes with abdul-jabbar
ok thanks to those clues I'm just missing three now too
ooh thanks hokie
had that one, but thanks Carla good clue
so now just 1 H left
yeah I should have said had those two, but still missing three. oh well. they will come evneutually
do you have the more common word where you remove a vowel from that set?
yup
ok down to two now, missed a plural of a 4/5
maybe i need that pair
unless you mean ha4 and hearty, and its "plural"
was very easy, you probably have it hursh.
yup that was it
sadly that's not mine
well much as I'd like to stay I'm finally getting hungry so that is my clue to find some breakfast
any PT words today?
I am starving but can't seem to get off the couch. bye, dorens.
I don't have any but need 2 P
i keep wanting pewter
I have one pt. I cleaned the floor
oh, and the one contained therein as well
not getting that but I did just find my last w
i don't mean past tense
oh, maybe you are talking about sw5 and w4
i mean words that start with PT, like PTERODACTYL
ahhh
hurshy, I can't figure out how there are 4 more words on the 2nd row S.
i have 6 there, let me see
three of mine involve the "seven" root
ok, I have 2 of those. have tried other things but will try again.
ha, there's one
and then there's that one i only know from growing up in church, that appears a lot in psalms
stat?
se5/12
ok, think I got that one
and then two easy fours
yes, have those
then you're caught up to me on that
I got a 4th one with the 7 root
hmm, thanks
thanks rasta
I have 4, 5, and 6. what is the stat of the other?
7
se7/32
oh dear look at my stats for what i have left: 1-1-10-8-6
I'm 3-5-6-11-5. equally terrible.
but worse. :P
ooh found a p7
oh no, just one 4 left here now
well i went to the list
but made it two 3 or fewer on each
and good lord there is an ek7/64
oh yes, I saw that mentioned earlier and looked it up straightaway
must be an african currency or something
at least i don't feel bad for not seeing that one!
for some reason today out of nowhere i have stuck in my head "froggy went a-courtin' and he did ride, mmhmm, mmhmm"
ok, the ek is a new word for me lol!
There is an old Tom and Jerry cartoon featuring that song.
You can fine it on Youtube if you want to kill that earworm :)
Find
not sure that method would work for me
They say to listen to it three times to kill the earworm. :)
Happy Birthday, hurshy! It is my god daughters birthday today too. I am pretty sure you are the same age
seems like it could easily backfire
oh, nice peri
It is a risk to be sure.

150 left here
think i will have to list as well
maybe later. ttfn
when I looked up the ek7, Google mysteriously showed the Collins English Dictionary definition next to a photograph of a lawnmower
Apparently Mark Twain wrote a short story "about a jingle that one can get rid of only by transferring it to another person." (Found on Wikipedia while looking up earworm cures.)
Robert McCloskey used that theme in one of his Homer Price stories, too. The whole town is singing. I don't have a copy of it handy, but if memory serves, Homer takes the entire town to the library to find the cure. I bet it was the Twain story he was looking for!

You should try it. I can’t get anything to post
It's what the high dollar folks mix their gin with

It isn’t expensive

Yellow label
My gin is a bit pricey though. But not for G & Ts
I use the Botanist for GTs

God grief I have been playing babble for
18 years
21 years for me
You were one of the originals peri
stidmamma was here when I started
I think babble began in 2003.I found out about it from a forum that I belonged to at the time which had nothing to do with words
Volleymomdee brought me here
I was still working when I started
well I have 100 left. going now. may be back later to find more words. bye Ruru and all
Me too
I am an 18 year vet as well
I miss Volleymom. She was one of the good ones.
Haz and Marigold are the longest playing members, I guess.
I came on in 2005.
Peri and Marigold are the longest playing members
19 years here - found Babble during a Starbucks-sponsored contest in the NYTimes, and Doug (can't remember his Babble handle) had a blog where he chatted about the contest... he also chatted about Babble so I wandered over. In the first year I would stay up for the flip and basically be online all day. I had to break that habit by going cold turkey for a while.
lol! Me too, nrkii. I remember those first years of obsession.
Well, the first archived babble game was played September 30, 2003. The players included Dr. God, deker, DJCoolio, RadicalBender, noel, spinfree and stefibles. I could not find any of those names on the rankings page. They either don't play anymore or when they signed up (like most of us do) they changed their handle.
Too bad the early games are not still available for play -- that would be fun!
They are available for play. The grids are in the archives, as well as the word lists.
Oh duh! Of course they are - lololol!
First game 125 words, 1670 points
No brainiacs back then. The highest score was 717 points.
D
why is the bottom left E giving me so much trouble? I have en5/6/7 series. Can't see anything else.
There is a en7/8
found them, thank you
blergh, 29 to go, 1-2-11-13-2... that is not pretty
