Doing well, just another insomnia night
it is a complex of appartments for seniors, rather new, and they have a very strong community that works from the Ubuntu philosophy which is a South African word that means : 'I am because we are." They help eachother, do all kinds of stuff together, have a large community building, etc. And the appartments are very low energy, they aim for energy neutral.

Was watching some news clips fron U.S news stations this morning and had to chuckle as they tried to theorise just why visitor total to the Vegas strip are way down. Without exception they wre mincing around blaming high room rates, parking, ten dollar bottles of waters, non-existant casino payouts, ect, etc. yet, each and every one of them seems to be avoiding the elephant in the room which is fallout from the Trump administration. As Canadians the reasons we do not visit are very simple. Firstly, how would you feel if a global suprrpower country threatened to take over your country?? Next thing is why would we financially support a country that is activly trying to harm us financially? Copper, lumber, steel, aluminum, the auto sector now have onerous tariff fees attatched to them. Jobs in these sectors are at risk on both sides of the border. Add to this new border rules and the threat of I.C.E, plus visa fees in the tens of thousands and it is quite clear to every other country why U.S tourism is tanking. Sorry for the long post, but watching they news stations dance all around the problem so as to not have issues with the Trump administration was laughable at best--annoying at worst.
Annoying at best, from my perspective as a US citizen. I feel we are losing our democratic republic.
Yes, I forget how horrible it must be to be living down there with all of this going on.

i saw a sad thing yesterday. i had to go to a UPS store instead of just a drop-off location, which was out of my way. but in the plaza with the UPS store there was a really cute store that sold sweets, the front was painted pink and the fonts were old-timey and stuff and i wanted to go in there... but it had gone out of business. :(
It's hard to keep a small business specialty shop going these days.
i had heard sweets shops were an exception because people always like to get themselves a little treat, even when (or esp when) money is tight
but yeah
So many people don't shop anymore. They stay home and let Amazon bring it to them.
yeah but there were things in the plaza like ... an eye doctor, the UPS store, places where you might still have to GO, and then, after your practical errand is done, what better to do than pop into the sweets shop!

but yeah i saw a poll the other day that only 14% of american adults are NOT worried about the cost of groceries now

There is very little affordable housing in the area where I work
all the more reason to build some, eh?
Living where you do you should understand that affordable housing is hard to build in some areas due to
high land costs,construction costs, restrictive zoning and land-use regulations, and community opposition

The only affordable housing near me got torn down and replaced with high dollar condos due to community complaints about the tenants of the affordable housing
