12:16 am

Hi from Missouri

12:17 am

it's a beautiful day to have the windows open & to boggle away :)

12:18 am

Not here, all I see from the window is mist! But it is always a good day to play babble ;)

12:18 am

Well done Jack :)

12:21 am

12:22 am

Hi all! Newly "pro" here (hah!). How long does it typically take for the stats to appear on the page link? Thanks

12:23 am

Usually takes about 5 minutes.

12:23 am

For curiosity's sake: why are we posting 4-letter words?

12:23 am

c/4 10

12:23 am

thanks

12:23 am

I dunno....lol

12:24 am

from game start that is. It's there now and has been for a while (for me anyway)

12:24 am

c5/18

12:24 am

12:25 am

Up the road in Jerusalem.

12:25 am

i4/4

12:26 am

Ah, I see. I'll hide the log for a while then, it is way too early for me to see all that yet. When I get stuck on 4-letterwords, I'll be back.

12:27 am

Silly Sprite - you're not going to get stuck on 4-letter words, and I *know* you'll be back! ;)

12:29 am

Hard one today, going to do some work instead, enjoy everyone!

12:30 am

12:34 am

c7/48

12:34 am

two a6's, haven't found the second so don't know the score yet.

12:36 am

cbr1965, is your a6/33 similar to an a5/14 meaning non-oblique?

12:36 am

really this is all getting confusing / now we have 2 c/7/48's listed as well

12:36 am

Yes -

12:36 am

there is only on c7/48. Only one c7 in fact.

12:37 am

I appreciate all the help but it does get confusing when people repost :))

12:38 am

m6/33 shiver me timbers!

12:39 am

It happens, Wilson. Folks get all excited when they find big words and post without bothering to check if they've already been spotted.

12:50 am

35 found but struggling now so gonna call it a night and try again tomorrow. HAPPY BABBLING ALL !!!! :))

12:52 am

7:06 am

Hello again. I see my message to Anj never appeared at all after the site went weird earlier. My other half texted earlier asking how I was getting on with today's puzzle. I replied, 'Not very well. There's a blip on the site.' He's just replied with, 'Oh dear! I can't bear to think about it. All those people sitting there twiddling their thumbs cos they can't get a Babble fix. It's tragic!' Now I may be wrong, but I think I detect just the tiniest hint of sarcasm there? LOL.

7:07 am

tell him there is an angry mob after him whose thumbs are now tired of twiddling lol

7:07 am

...obvously an unbeliever Jac, lol

7:07 am

morning all! fraid i wont have any time to babble today (and maybe not even for a while!) september is our very busy month at work and we are short-staffed, so im sure things will be....eventful, to say the least!

just wondering if she might need some help, I could always book some holiday and pop over

7:14 am

Oh Anj., did you go for a wee after applying the stuff? I've heard a chap after doing that. His voice got higher than a Bee Gee's.

7:19 am

Bright & breezy in Bristol Baggo. How's Indy-Land?

7:20 am

(Think of that 'ah,ah,ah' but from 'Stayin' Alive'.:-/

7:20 am

7:20 am

Warm & sunny in Worcestershire, Baggo.

7:21 am

sunny and a little cool, the bus is late again, so i'm gonna have to take the kids to school...ugh

7:21 am

I assumed it was accidental, Anj. I'm sure no one but the strangest of chaps would do it on purpose.

7:23 am

Jac, don't be too sure. I've heard some horror stories from one of the guys I used to work with :P

7:24 am

Ooer! Are they suitable for public airing, Anj?

My baby just crawled over to the cat and is mauling it. I don't get it. The dumb animal just sits there and takes it. RUN AWAY!!

7:33 am

Boysaway, can't see a decent clue for the am6. Think of two words meaning 'at the centre of' and put them together :)

7:33 am

Thanks Edarzakh, do you mean the am6 is an extension of his name?

7:33 am

Lianakate. You must take a pic of that and put it on your profile. Still giggling at the pic you've put in my head. Daisies! LOL.

7:33 am

Anj..they are really cute..except when they take the daisies and put them in inappropriate places!! This is a tough job..but someone has to do it..LOL

8:03 am

11:30 am

Claire DC- I signed up for PayPal way back in the day with a checking account, but maybe they require a credit card now-a-days. I guess I'll have to go look into that. ;)

You only need a credit card for paypal if you want to get their atm/debit card.

11:31 am

no... you still sign up using a bank account with paypal as far as i know... and then other cards are added

11:31 am

Jen.Up towards the sky you would be in mi/6/27

11:31 am

It's worth looking at as when i signed up i had to phone and get mums card details quicky lol.. but it could also just be a UK thing as their US bank transfers are a lot quicker than UK ones too so it could be to do with that, i'll have a quick look for you if you like?

11:31 am

thanks macadam

i'm on a course for work and the hotel has got wi-fi!!!! how good is that? and it doesn't cost anything!!! stamina ain't wot it used to be, i'm nearly 40 you know.

4:05 pm

mule - one of them is to be extremely close to someone (in6/24) but miss a couple of letters off the end

4:17 pm

A site for sore eyes... Thank you, Captain.

4:18 pm

can someone interpret brandyyjack's info? thanks

4:19 pm

I think this site is sending my machine batty. The other night my list of words disappeared, now each word is there twice. I have double the score too! Good for the stats but most annoying.

4:20 pm

Ac 2 - ,Ac5x1,Ac6x1<- "AC 2" means there are two words starting with AC ",Ac5x1" means there is on Ac word 5 letters long. ",Ac6x1" means there is one Ac word 6 letters long "<-" means I have found them all :B

4:22 pm

It has now sorted itself out, would you believe it?

4:22 pm

chuck: Ac2, means there are two words beginning with these letters. Ac5x1 means that one of the two is a 5-letter word, the other has 6 letters, and so on.

4:23 pm

thanks

4:28 pm

finally back home after visit to the doc's, pharmacy, and groceries.i have a love hate relationship with living alone..ACK

4:28 pm

Jera - don't laugh - I still need the dr5 that doesn;t mean breeze - it is my final word - had to take kids to soccer so just getting back to it

4:33 pm

CB, thanks for all your help last night. I live in GA too! Flintstone, at the foot of Lookout Mtn..(originally a Michigander)..do you know where it is?

4:34 pm

CB, i think in my case,.we should spell it "whine"..and where the hell is my cheese! hah

4:34 pm

Absolutely I know where Lookout Mtn is - my parents went on their second honeymoon some years ago there - beautiful place - you're lucky - I live in Decatur so less than a mile from City of Atlanta

4:36 pm

My daughter was born in 66..ooooh, i miss her. (i think its time for dinner..am babbling ) pun intended.

Dr_God, if someone cares about player ranking, is it better not to play puzzles that one won't have time to complete?

4:39 pm

Since your score for that puzzle would be zero, I doubt that would be beneficial.

4:39 pm

So young? Jeez, I'm 21.........

4:41 pm

ALways happy to help my babbling friends, lianakate especally when we;re almost neighbors! Go get your cheese!

Thanks brandyjack, I thought briefly that it dropped puzzle scores if you didn't play.

4:43 pm

I need help with the An9!!

4:45 pm

a4/4 d5/18

4:45 pm

4:47 pm

good clue, brandy jack. i got it

4:48 pm

4:49 pm

j4/11 is one tenth of a dollar Chinese.

4:50 pm

Thankyou brandyjack, that was driving me INSANE

4:50 pm

what about a clue for am6x1

4:51 pm

What is point value of tu5, please?

4:51 pm

It's 16

4:52 pm

ty!

4:53 pm

am6/27 Starch modified by heat so as to become a transparent mass, like horn. It is soluble in cold water.

4:54 pm

A clue for it would be - very close hot weather with the first letter changed to something that Typhoo make

4:57 pm

Could I have a definition for tu5/16?? Nothing is jumping out at me or working with the math.

4:58 pm

1) Swollen; distended. Used of a body part or organ. 2) Of a bulging shape; protuberant. 3) Overblown

4:59 pm

very close hot weather with the first letter changed to something that Typhoo make

5:01 pm

have tried all combinations for the j and not being familiar with Chinese currency am still no wiser

5:01 pm

mo, it's right infront of you.

5:02 pm

ty, finally got it... I get the hot weather ones now, LOL! Oh you poor people, trying to help me...

5:03 pm

OKay, I thought I had all my T's, but stats say I have 2 more!! Yikes!!

5:03 pm

ok..am back... and at home (yippee)... need to lick this puzzle - really struggling today for some reason!

5:05 pm

That's weird, I would have sworn I typed those in! Oh well, I'm done with the T's that's what really matters.

5:05 pm

8 words to go... can't avoid the M's anymore...

5:05 pm

wb cathy!

5:07 pm

bundlao is that a cryptic clue i still dont see it and i love cryptic crosswords?

5:09 pm

No it's not cryptic....it's not what's int the words, it is the words. It's right infront of you.

5:10 pm

5:11 pm

thanks got the j now cos i was looking the wrong way!!!

5:12 pm

ginger, you are missing a Ra4/7

5:12 pm

same here...i was too busy going off in other directions to get it

5:15 pm

I have a good clue for that evil word... It's not the heat, it's the _____, chop off the last 3 letter, then replace first letter with a T. Whew!

5:16 pm

I'm gonna go take a nap then come back later for these M's... I'm getting a fierce headache!

5:16 pm

hope you feel better, jera!

5:21 pm

any help for the a9 please

5:21 pm

I'm missing an mi6 and a di4... and my sanity!

5:26 pm

mo - to say, in a word, that you are against cold air leaking through the door would be your an9/78

5:27 pm

The A9 is a compound word comprised of an AN4/4 and a DR5/18.

5:27 pm

ginger... which do yuo alreadsy have?

5:29 pm

I have 2 small sounding mi6's and something to do with where to find a plane

5:29 pm

5:30 pm

cathy: what a brilliant clue for the 9. I'm not doing the puzzle tonight but when i saw your clue i saw the word straight away!

5:31 pm

5:32 pm

Cathy thanks also ...sorry i missed your message somehow

5:33 pm

Ginger: how was your daughter's birthday? Did she have a ood time out in the limo?

5:34 pm

5:34 pm

5:35 pm

5:36 pm

5:39 pm

oh dear the sandman calls ...too tired to get the last few unfortunately...night all, happy babbling!

5:41 pm

according to my calculations then, you are missing an mi/5... if you have the mi/4 which is a common herb used for gum, stick a consonant on the end of that

5:44 pm

you mean what the taste of that herb would be? I have that :(

5:46 pm

ahh... ummm... the other is a musical note...

5:47 pm

got that too!

5:48 pm

what's the points total for this puzzle? I can't find my di 4 either :(

5:50 pm

ok... mi5/14... (plural of) a varying unit of weight or money used in ancient Greece and Asia.

5:52 pm

ginger, theres Di 4/5 x2, which do you have?

5:53 pm

7:11 pm

Can I get a hint for the third tu4? I have overturn and the one related to hair (or grass)

7:13 pm

Replace the last letter on the 'hair' one with a vowel.

7:17 pm

I'd have sworn I tried that before! Thanks!

7:17 pm

Am 6 is making me insane -- may I have a clue if anyone is out there still and has one?

7:19 pm

am6 = Starch modified by heat so as to become a transparent mass

7:19 pm

mab: am 6/27 = your am 4/7 2 ltrs, think compound words. Am down to my last 12 m's!!

7:20 pm

8:36 pm

thank doogle, Night Cadfan. how many m6/33 are there? I have the mu6--***bounty is there another one?

8:39 pm

Just one 33. Do you have the mu6/39?

8:39 pm

ma 4 7 ma 4 6 mi 6 27 mi 4 7 mi 4 6 mi 5 14 mi 4 6 mi 5 18 mi 6 30 mi 6 30 mi 4 6 mi 5 20 mi 4 6 mi 4 9 mu 6 39 mu 5 16 mu 4 6 mu 6 33 (Complete list of m's.)

8:41 pm

ahh, 18 ms! just can't count! lol, tired eyeballs and quirky cursor. but i'm still missing a couple words, just not sure which ones!

8:46 pm

cy's! 6 and 7...any cloos?

8:51 pm

The root word for the CY 6 & 7 is a CY 4/9

8:53 pm

There are 5 m/6s.

8:55 pm

thanks Jacula. Minski, found cy4 and cy6...how do they become 7?

8:55 pm

The cy6 is a well-known poison with the last letter missing and the cy7 is the same thing with a different penultimate letter (think a beverage, one the British drink a lot of).

8:57 pm

Great clue Jacula! Excellent use of penultimate, too. LOL

8:58 pm

super cloo Jacula! thanks got it...just didn't see around the t! i think i'm done, but better check my numbers.

9:04 pm

Julie - Just read your profile, 'I'll be in my room etc.'. LOL. Incidentally, are you a teacher? I ask because your comment on my use of 'penultimate' sounded just like a margin comment on an essay. LOL.

9:06 pm

lbdawger - If you've got 83 words and 1132 points you're all done.

9:13 pm

alll done...got side tracked by some of the definitions! amazing what one can learn on the internet! Night everyone and thank you for the assist in finishing the game.

9:15 pm

'Night, 'night, lbdawger. Sleep well.

9:18 pm

Hints for the FA6 please?

9:20 pm

Minksi - the Fa6 might show up in your porridge.

9:21 pm

It must have been a pretty uneventful day in Babbleland. I've had almost no one email me. What gives? :)

9:25 pm

Aw, have you been lonely Dr_God? Didn't you see us all moaning here in UK about the site blips earlier?

9:25 pm

ok need the IN6 & FA6

9:26 pm

Jacula ~ Don't you sleep? What time is it over there on the other side of the pond?

9:27 pm

fa6. Diff. initial letter but otherwise former UK princess & duchess of Kent, also a place where yachts 'park'.

9:29 pm

in6 - the closeness between a couple with a short beverage missing at the end.

9:30 pm

It's 3.30am Minski and, yes, I do sleep. But I didn't get nicknamed 'Jacula' for nothing!

9:32 pm

Got them both. Thanks.

9:32 pm

Ah. Comprendo. Thanks for sticking around when you were finished so long ago.

9:33 pm

Only missing 10 words now. Have to finish the Ms and the Rs.

9:34 pm

That's okay Minski. People help me and I help them. My tag on many forums is 'Do as you would be done by'. Now, Dr-God.... Are you okay?

9:35 pm

I take it you have BrandyJack's list of m's and r's, Minski?

9:35 pm

Incidentally, where in US are you?

9:37 pm

Just 8 Ms left to find.

9:39 pm

Hey Doc God! Actually, I would welcome it if you could address the question BrotherCaine posted at 4:38. I feel that the surmise which Brandyjack posted in response is not the case at all, but would like to hear what you have to say.

9:39 pm

Yes I have Brandyjack's list. I LOVE Bs list. It helps me soooooo much. I also use www.a2xwordfinder.com. I live just North of Boston, Massachusetts.

9:41 pm

Damn it, Doogle! (Would have been better saying that if your name had been Janet! Rocky Horror Show and all that.) I'm gonna have to 'show all messages' and go back there now to see what was said. (Nosey cow that I am!)

9:44 pm

Massachusetts, Minski? Now I'm reminded of another Bee Gees' song. (See chat log from earlier today re Ralgex and Anj etc.) If I mention the Bee Gees once more, people might think I'm a fan of their when in fact, despite having ecletic tastes in music my true love is heavy rock.

9:47 pm

Hey, jac..youre back..I have been gone all day..coaching the "boys"

9:48 pm

Doc..i was going to Email you about the fact that the letters on my graph here,..never turn gray?..whats up with that?

9:49 pm

Hiya (a word the babblegrid doesn't recognise) Lianakate. That must have been real tough on you - all the insubordination with the proper placement of rubber daisies etc?

9:52 pm

JAC..boys will be boys..lol. THey are going to present me with a list of alternative names they wish to be called...How can Chuck be a Daphne?..there is somethng sick about that..LOL

9:53 pm

Greetings and Hallucinations! It took me FOREVER to read the chat log. The page freezes often, won't scroll up and down and It jumps everytime the page refreshes. Very annoying. Anywhooo, I have 6 words left but I doubt I'll finish as I am TIRED. Jax, you are probably gone, but I was intrigued ot read you work in addictions as I do too. What is your 'speciality'?

9:53 pm

Doogle- About the rankings question... If you do not play a puzzle it doesn't affect your ranking.

9:55 pm

lianakate- The boxes on the bottom of the Stats panel don't turn gray when you complete a tile?

9:55 pm

I still have 22 words to complete..but I am soooooooo tired. Am also aggravated with the Germ Shepherd..she balked when I gave her raisin bran this am.

9:56 pm

Doc, sir..No they do not..I carried on all night last night with the fellow babblers when they tried to tell me about looking at the gray tiles..

9:56 pm

Liankate - Entirely possible, since 'daphnia' are water fleas!:-)

9:57 pm

Jac..LMAO..veddy good!! You are promoted to asst coach of my mens synchronized swimming team!!

9:57 pm

OOOH! THANK YOU Lianakate.

9:58 pm

lianakate- But the numbers update and blink when you add words right?

9:58 pm

Dr. God..i was down to one word last night..i figured some of the tiles should have been "grayed" out.

9:58 pm

(Will step back now from hilarity and let you and The Doc sort the probs. out.)

9:59 pm

i dont recall seeing anything blink!!!!! Are they supposed to do so?

10:00 pm

lianakate- Yeah. When you add a word, the number in the corresponding tile increments and blinks in the Stats panel.

10:00 pm

Long distance from my fellar..doing the dang hurricane ins. claims..will be back later!! Sorry to complain and run!

10:01 pm

no they dont, doc..be back in a bit.

10:02 pm

Hello, Minski - Nice to 'meet' a neighbour - I'm just west of Boston, in Brookline.

10:02 pm

I'm amazed anyone over there is recovered enough to be making insurance claims!

10:03 pm

Not being flippant. Just commented from the news we've been given here in UK and news direct from friends in USA.

10:04 pm

hi Swimmy This is getting a little flustering It keeps sticking

10:05 pm

But, while Lianakate's away Dr_God, I was having a scroll through the rankings earlier... at no. 7 is Jamiekins on 997 points. At 1339 is Dr_God on 214 points and, below him, at 1340 is 'jacKula' at 214 points. Hmm, interesting! BTW, folks, the jacula with a 'k' is NOT me.

10:06 pm

It seems you have an evil twin.

10:08 pm

Callicomo! :) I thought I was the only one having a hard time with the chat log. But I have played Babble on three different computers and it is the same on all. Freezing, jumping and SLOW

10:08 pm

Oh no! Not the evil twin! I've seen that interminable cartoon about the little green chap with the hairy ears.

10:08 pm

Thanks for the clarification, Doc God. Am I correct that the rankings tabulator program looks at *only* the last 30 days of games?

10:08 pm

Twin, evil, I want not. LOL.

10:09 pm

Doogle- Correct.

10:11 pm

However, if the other J night person was referring to Count Duckula the Vegetarian Vampire, then that's fine! Loved him. But loved 'nanny' best; she never used a door when bursting through a wall came easier to get to her 'Duckipoos'. ROFLOL.

10:11 pm

I will have to leave it 5 short. Just TOO tired. Nytol...

10:12 pm

What 5 do you need Rumpole's mysterious 'she'?

10:18 pm

Good evening from the depths of the Connecticut River Valley. I hate to interupt, but Jacula, anyone, anyone at all? May I please have a clue for Da 6, the one that becomes transparent and dissolves in water? I am desperate; my monkey fingers will not hit the right keys.

10:20 pm

Mab - There's only one Da6, and it might be used to describe a frilly, precious little girl.

10:22 pm

Oh dear, I meant Am6. Thank you and sorry.

10:23 pm

Oh. Well that's quite different indeed! It starts with your am4/6.

10:24 pm

OOPS! It starts with the Am4/7, *not* the Am4/6. Sorry!

10:26 pm

Oh. Ok. Thank you doogie, and may I say, I'm so sorry for the disinterment of your beloved Muffet by the Mormons. How utterly tragic.

10:28 pm

Well, it *was* a bit distressing. And I don't know if this means that all of her scruffy little welsh terrier ancestors going back to the beginning of dogdom have now been retroactively mormonized. It is just this dire pondering that drives me to Babble in the long sleepless nights.

10:32 pm

Heaven forbid! Shocking! It is indeed a weighty topic, however, if she was given the appropriate burial, she and her ancestors are probably ok, adhering to whatever faith they lay claim to. Got the word. Most grateful.

10:47 pm

I'm only missing one word and then I'm done. It's an MI6/33. I have the flying one and the one that's the plural of a 7 letter word. What am I missing?

10:50 pm

found it! Done! Bedtime! SEe you on the flipside!

10:51 pm

Morning & evening to all :)

11:13 pm

Can anyone help with my final a from the last column, I have the 2 dry words?

11:24 pm

Lexi - if you mean the 'ay' word it might be a term that Scottish comedian and actor Billy C. would use to describe himself : 'the big y..'.

11:25 pm

Failing that, it's the 16th letter of the Hebrew alphabet.

11:26 pm

got that one, I'm looking for an a that brances from the same a that the dry words start with, any clues??

11:26 pm

brances = branches, long fingernails, oops

11:28 pm

you have to edit this word with another vowel

11:29 pm

lexi - it is an itsy bit longer than your a4/5 word.

11:34 pm

Ah! The a 6/27? Two words that mean 'in the middle of' put together.

11:36 pm

ah yes, that's the one I'm missing, now to find it...

11:43 pm

Morning Debss40ish, btw.

11:51 pm

Morning Jacula... How's you?
