I think the game does keep track of your time. Sprite was the first one finished yesterday, and Sprite is at the top of the word list....
I finished and am somewhere way below, so what exactly is ranked is an enigma for me. Of which I am very fond, as a puzzler ;)
those rankings if any of you figure them out them out you'll take the cake...sprite should be way ahead of me...they don't make sense..

I suspect Brandyjack is correct in thinking the rankings do somehow take into account time spent and/or earliest finish, or some combo of the two.

I sincerely believe that the only purpose of the rankings is, to keep us guessing how they are compiled. So if you finish the grid, you will still have a puzzle to keep your mind occupied.
