12:45 am

griffummss at least it could dance or play a song...LOL

12:47 am

'Zackly. "Oops! You're really bad at this game, tra laa la!" or start some chest-beat-thump thing "Your name is Griffums and you really suck / You best quit now 'cuz you got no luck.." unh, unh-hunh...

12:48 am

or "keep on monkey typing" to a nice cheer leading song...LOl

12:49 am

Yeah! To the tune of Kung Fu Fighting... "Everybody was monnnn-key typ-iiiiiing, those fingers fast as light'niiiing..." Okay I'll quit

Yay, finished with the a's.

12:50 am

Griff I just checked your profile... what is life like up there in Alaska...??

12:51 am

Griffums, love the song thing... in fact I really think you should give those ideas to Dr. God... the tra la la is the best. Though I am quite fond of Kung foo fighting growing up in the 70s and all...

12:52 am

I have a mechanical hamster that sings Kung Fu Fighting while whirling a pair of plastic nunchucks :)

12:53 am

That's a question that would take a long time to answer, but it's home. It's small-town in a vast vast space. It's an incredible mix of cultures from all around the world as well as indigenous peoples. I could go on and on, but will leave you with this popular adage that's also very true, relating to the men vs. women thing: in Alaska, the odds are good, but the goods are odd.

12:54 am

Wow. I have a serious case of hamster envy now.

Griffums... "goods are odd.." love it!

12:55 am

that was a very good answer..... the furtherest I have been North is Peace River Alberta.....I loved the northern lites, long summer days and even the long winter nites... I left the winter it was -55 C plus a wind chill factor.... glad to be in Vancouver BC now....LOL

12:59 am

GothicAngel - and it's funny because it's really true. We have a town that auctions off its bachelors. Alaska is wonderful but it's also the next to last stop on the wacky bus.

12:59 am

What part of AK are you from griffums?

1:01 am

I've always lived in southcentral, in the Matanuska Valley area north of Anchorage. Grew up in eastern PA and spent a year back there recently helping family. So glad to be back home here, though really enjoyed the drive across the continent and back. Since I got back home last fall I've lived in Anchorage proper, which I never have in the 25 years I've been here. It isn't Alaska but you can get there from here, and I'm coping.

1:03 am

Use to live up there myself. Lived in Willow for awhile.

1:04 am

My ex lives up there. Can't get a better Denali view. I've lived in Palmer/Sutton/Butte mostly.

1:05 am

Lived as far south as Kodiak and as far north as Nome. Actual got above the Artic Circle when I flew to Nome.

1:06 am

By the way yes I know where Houston, AK is.

1:07 am

Hi ya' all

1:08 am

When I worked for the University, I got the opportunity to work at Prudhoe/Deadhorse doing fieldwork in the oilpatch. Did that for 11 years, flying up during the summers and every six weeks in the winter. Brrr. I have been out in -70F in pitch dark, trying to change little computer chips in temperature datapods while my companion flashlight-scanned for polar bears. I Really Do Not Miss That Part. But summers were great up there.

1:10 am

(sorry so talky everybody, fun to answer questions but I can wax loquacious)

1:10 am

griff interesting stuff.... would love to see you post some pics on the bab anon site.... of Alaska....

1:12 am

When I figure out that babanon stuff, I'll do that. I put some of it on my blog <planetpeg.blogspot.com> from time to time, but unfortunately you have to dig through the rest of my life's inane musings to find it. (trust me, it's not really worth it)

1:18 am

ey guys, how many words do we rake for this puzzle?

1:19 am

hoiney bab anon has all the stats etc....

1:19 am

Good morning all! :)

2:03 am

Hey Blaze, just curious...how long have you been a babbler? Are you good at crosswords also?

2:04 am

btw, all this talk of chocolate ...I gave up the grapes for some chocolate pop tarts.. thanks everyone

2:06 am

Jen since begin of August when the beta babble was being tested.... I had to look that up by the way. the more words you are exposed to the more you will find and their variances.... or words like crwth--- (really)

2:09 am

cool word Blaze.I'll have to try to retain that for later.

2:09 am

Jen oldwife is a good one too..... really --- it is a fish

2:11 am

I remember oldwife from a few days ago :-) loved all the clues that were given for it.

2:11 am

you know it would just figure...can't sleep and come down to play and what do i see first...FISH.. should i just head back upstairs and count sheep???

2:11 am

a lot of times its the clues that make the word... and make it memorable.

2:12 am

baggo you know the babble will get you first... haven't seen much for fish in this one....LOL

2:12 am

i know...how goes things blaze???

2:14 am

good mostly.... my girl was in a downward spin but seems to have leveled out.... she has emotional challenges..

2:14 am

baggo, it's a sign!!! You must give up the fight ...against the babble. Crazy icon you have. It looks like a dude with antlers , a snout and very very bad varicosis... am I close?

2:16 am

jen...it's abstract art, so it can be whatever you want it to be...great pictures... go to google, click on the images and put in cosmic...bout 3'd row down, the girl (artist) has some great works...

2:18 am

blaze i think it's awesome what you are doing, and the fact that you speak and help others out doing the same that you are!!!! our son, who has visual trouble, also has some calcifications in his brain, and he's 12 and just starting some odd behaviors, both good and bad so we will see...but again, bless you for what you are doing!

2:18 am

baggo, what made you choose it? What did it look like to you?

2:20 am

baggo thank you.... I am but a walnut.... with a mustard seed to hold onto.... I just keep praying that she will get the assistance that she needs before she destorys herself.... we do think that we have the right counsellor at this point.

2:20 am

jen, its called dark something or other, but if you look at the big one, it's a mathematical abstract, and to me i can see a girl in there working on math, and lotti was on that day and she's havin a go with math...and i thought of her...

2:21 am

where is our brit gang today ????

2:22 am

blaze, i cannot tell you how that walnut and mustard seed helped me down south, cause boy it was some of the roughest things i have ever gone through both mentally from what they said and what i did. i prayed each night and thanked God for your note that night and for you for giving it to me...so good things will head your way...you were my angel and now good will come to you...kinda like pay it forward...good things do come to good people..

2:22 am

2:31 am

Hey Blaze what is champers? Champagne? Champers happens to be my cat's name. Well actually, Chandler Bing (yes around the time the show friends began) then my roommate wanted him to be a her and he became champerANN or champers for short. Yes so back to the point...was it champagne? I could use a nice fruiti champagne to wash down my chocolate pop tart

2:32 am

i got it cos of lotti...it's a mathematical abstract, and if you look at the big one you i see a girl with these angles, etc around here, and it made me think of her with her math troubles...

2:33 am

does playing babble cause babbling? so sorry for my babbling...back to the crazy re list...

2:34 am

I do believe it is...... nick name or brand name I do not know.... LOL

2:34 am

I'll have to have a look at that range of pics. The colours and design are gorgeous! jenwould - yes, champers in champagne. I think it's British slang. (but not anymore, now we've introduced the term to the whole wide world!! LOL!!)

2:34 am

Awww bless Baggo. I just scrolled down and read it...Fab icon it is too! I`m a bit better mum, but still have that mild constant ache. I was wondering whether to take the kids to Hotch Potch. Do you fancy it?

2:51 am

45 words to go.... getting the smarties our now... fuel for babblers....

2:52 am

Fine by me.

2:52 am

2:54 am

macadam and blaze ...many thanks to you both!

2:55 am

that's the only one I wasn't sure about. Looked like womb at first glance. It is definitely one of the most memorable ones as, if you keep looking, you start to see other things. Lots of different faces, for example. What did you make of it?

2:56 am

is that in the fractals or where ??

2:56 am

Ithought they may be able to "make" skops Christmas prezzi !!

2:57 am

Blaze, it's in photopaintings..

2:58 am

Quite a thought!!!

2:58 am

can kinda be a little on the erotic side...then i stared just seeing all kinds of stuff in there...they many sides to people...the cat at the bottom totally threw me, not sure what to make of that...

2:58 am

I love the butterfly..... but other seems to have the face of an ewok

2:59 am

what's with the squirrel at the top???

2:59 am

I know, I saw a cat with an open head so you could see inside...... eeuuww!! : ) But that's the mark of a good work of art - it's got us talking and it grabbed our attention!!

3:00 am

well if you ever look at an anatomy book, it's like there is so much midline stuff there...art is truly amazing...her site is truly amazing...

3:01 am

that le 4/7 is a bear of a word

3:03 am

verrrry good clue!! thx

3:04 am

Good Morning Everyone!

3:20 am

Hi rosalind :)

3:22 am

Salto is there... but you have to make a salto to connect the letters.

3:22 am

Painkillers & coffee... the breakfast of champions!

3:22 am

'Morning all... well, almost night-night for me. I'm going tooo slow, brain must sleep soon.

3:24 am

Nite Blaze, sleep well

3:28 am

morning all! it's grey & rainy here - perfect babble weather:) how's the grid today?

3:29 am

So we can have 'pfui' and 'argh', but no 'ahas'?

3:29 am

My grid isn't nearly grey enough yet ;)

3:29 am

One 'aha' per customer. No twofers.

3:30 am

I have the distinct impression babbles bends the rules so it has the advantage :)

3:30 am

Bye for now folks.Happy babbling.

3:32 am

Clue for the last re5, please?

3:35 am

Goodnes,, I haven't even made my chart up yet... can't help ya zubie (sorry).

3:35 am

see ya macadam...and on that note with 13 left to go...they will have to wait a few more hours...

3:35 am

I have zero Res sofar... all the ones I see aren't valid!

3:36 am

Never mind, Jera. I got it at last! :)

dark and raining here too

3:36 am

Bye, mac & baggo... gonna stick around at least until halfway...

3:38 am

No 'ahas' but we have H4/10.

3:39 am

need a clue for my last L it's an la5/10 not the plural of the floor used for bowling...the other one please...

3:41 am

jen...mo curly and la....(alt spelling) (three stooges) and the last re5 think kidneys..

3:41 am

Jen, alt spelling for aluminum coin and monetary unit of the Maldives, the 100th part of a rupee

3:42 am

baggo, cute clue... finished those blasted re's a while ago, now I'm forced to hit the hs...ughhhh

3:42 am

sprites clue is much better...and on that funky clue note...i'm off...

3:42 am

buh bye Baggo... see you round like a donut...hasta la pasta!

3:43 am

Any clue that helps you find the word is great, baggo! See you later ;)

3:46 am

For a 200+ grid I find this a tight one!

3:46 am

So is the stooge the same as the coin??

3:46 am

me too!

3:47 am

jera - it sounds like that name....

3:47 am

I don't get the stooges part, so I don't know.

3:48 am

Thanks, thought I'd found my 100th word... will stop looking for two...

3:49 am

I hate teh stooges, but I got that clue rather than noodling the alt spelling of the coin... go fig

3:49 am

Woohoo! Found one 7!

3:50 am

wtg sprite!!! which one? got a clue for me? :)

3:52 am

A7/28: small spaces or interstices in a tissue or part, such as the area bounded by small veins in a leaf or the wing of an insect. Also the setoffs of nipples.

3:52 am

oooh, I just found the t7!!!

3:53 am

Jippee! Care to share a clue for that one?

3:55 am

no def, but looks like a composite.......

3:58 am

If thends of your feet were cars, they would drive in these...

3:58 am

..... LOOKS like a composite (don't think it is!!) :)

3:58 am

re: that composite... If you're driving down the street and there's just one path for you and just one path for the guy coming from the other direction, then you're on a road that has t-- -----.

3:58 am

Lol, I really have no idea which way to look for that one!

3:59 am

(I meant to say that 'sounds like') And I'm going to bed!

4:01 am

That worked for me! Thanks guys :) I think the def is something like 'related to crystalline, water-insoluble, solid, unsaturated compound', plural.

4:01 am

Griffums - What an absolutely brillant clue!

4:04 am

Griffums - thanks for the wonderful clue.

4:15 am

Morning! Half Term and granted myself an hour plus .. how hard is it today?

4:16 am

hi alleyn, happy half term:)

4:16 am

Hi Alleyn. Big grid, but tight as well. At least I think so. And why do I always, always forget that vowely T4/4?

4:22 am

well that's me done for now, the joys of half term when kids are fighting you for the computer- aaagh!!

4:28 am

206 words / 4.54 / 2041 points. The statpanel was a big help with this one. I used it to see from which letter to start words, which I normally don't. Tough grid!

4:29 am

bravo sprite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! well done!

well done sprite

4:31 am

Congrats Sprite! I'm having mucho problemo with this one today.... Even those 6-letter ones are far and few between.

4:33 am

Okay, I've got a stat sheet that says there are to be 5 HA 5's and 4 HA 6's. I have been searching desperately for over an hour and i have found 4 ha 5's and 3 ha 6's. I've got the HA 5's that refer to: 1) compels to go 2) circle of colored light 3) medieval trade assoc. 4) group of women/wives and the HA 6's: 1) cirlces of light (alt spelling) 2) 1st money taken in trade 3) Quarters for wives Does anyone know what I am missing?!!!!!!

4:35 am

KJS - I can tell you right off that you are missing the Hawaiin term used for white person and it's plural.

4:35 am

morning all, ha5, ha6, white person in Hawaii is called this

4:36 am

hi hugs, great minds again

4:37 am

Hi ferrari - we are so in synch! :o)

4:37 am

Thanks! Done! ACK! Those never show up in a2z! And yes, I did get a little help there tonight for this one! :P (as if I don't get help there most grids!)

4:38 am

I always forget those ha5 and ha6 words!! :)

4:39 am

they got me twice in August, I'll never forget them again

4:41 am

Yep... they got me in August as well when I first started, now I'll never forget them as well.

4:42 am

they got me twice ib august and I must have been really traumatised by the experience cos I've clean forgotten! lol! :)

4:45 am

All we'll need to say in future is "that word", mind you there's a few of the usual suspects today, ie those st words and the little t and n that sound the same

4:48 am

yeah, there's a few of them that stick out now. I'm amazed at how many of those 4- and 5-letter strange ones that I'm remembering now.

4:49 am

I am always so relieved to see I am not the only one who has trouble with 'these words' :D

4:50 am

the st words - do you mean the greek covered walk? the little n and t words - I'm looking for my last n, I bet it's one of them!! Not sure if I've found them before! : )

4:50 am

56 in half an hour starting with the ws. All you experienced folk is that the best way to begin ...........?

4:51 am

187 and progressing slowly.

4:51 am

Alleyn, I think everyone has his/her own favorite approach and they all work ;)

4:52 am

zubie, you're doing good! *cup of coffee for zubie*

4:53 am

Wow zubie, you are close! Yes, the little n, the little t, that nasty st and those littles o-words. Also 'anoa', which isn't in this grid.

4:53 am

Them's em babbler, the na4/4, ta4/4, think little red Chinese book

4:53 am

I hate the little to.

4:54 am

thx ferrari!! shan't forget them in a hurry! what's the little to?

4:55 am

... don't tell me, the unit of weight??

4:55 am

to4/4, currency, all vowels

4:55 am

Coffee! Thanks, Babbler!

4:56 am

Yup, that's the one. It's in many a grid, and not even once did I NOT to have go hunt for it.

4:57 am

I need last ar5... I have spaces & stage

4:57 am

One simple everyday word that always eludes me is taco for some reason.

used for fighting

4:59 am

You need the buddhist Ar5/16. "One who has attained enlightenment" But if you don't know the word, think of what some people wear on their head.

4:59 am

I hate etui. I even know I have to look for it, and still miss it!

5:00 am

Etui works for me. Etwee doesn't. Now how is that for being stupid ;)

5:01 am

And I always think etwee is atwee and get annoyed when its not accepted

5:01 am

and psis. silly word.

5:01 am

Yay, thanks! Done with A's & taking a nap... see ya later!

5:02 am

In dutch, 'twee' = two. Since I blind myself for dutch words, I just don't see the etwee (and plural) even if it jumps right into my face, lol.

5:02 am

see you later, jera :)

5:02 am

and emfs and pfui

5:02 am

I hate emfs..

5:03 am

Oh yes, emfs. Dreadful one too. And what did we have recently

5:03 am

Argh... I had 1 t4 left to find... and it must have been the easiest of them all... the number sheesh!

5:03 am

Posting all of itself??? recently, that cwns or something?

5:04 am

cwrth wasn't it?

5:04 am

crwth ???

5:04 am

and our beloved ywis!

5:04 am

the ywis play to the crwth with a crwth!

5:05 am

I looked it up: cwms. Can't even remember the right letters!

5:05 am

Ha! It's the ha's now! ;D

5:06 am

don't remember the cwms, what on earth are they?

5:07 am

Undoubtely scots, and they are cirques.

5:08 am

crwth was welsh for crowd, wasn't it (????)

5:09 am

Nice webpage: http://cres1.lancs.ac.uk/~esar ie/tarboard/messages/16978.htm (leave out the spaces babble puts in here as protection against too long entries )

5:09 am

crowd and a musical instrument, hard to think it's got 1 definition, let alone 2!

5:11 am

Before I log out, any clues needed?

5:12 am

The so6 would be nice sprite

5:12 am

Just my last 46 words would be fine Sprite! *wink*

5:14 am

Finding this tricky! Too many letters adjacent to one another - most confusing

5:17 am

So6/18: plural for gannet, any of several large sea birds of the genus Morus, especially M. bassanus of northern Atlantic coastal regions, having white plumage with black wingtips. 46 Hugs? Just name them :)

5:18 am

Or, for the So6, take the ending of EL4/5 combo.

5:22 am

Thanks a lot spike, could have sworn, frequently do, had the singular.100 lines for me, or possibly a good thrashing

5:23 am

205 now I've no idea what i'm missing

5:23 am

check your list against babblers anonymous, Zubie. But have a break and a cup of tea first!! :D

5:26 am

LOL @ spike :) Yeah, I know, happens to me all the time. I always check my list in the last stage, to see what plurals, singulars and verb forms I have left out. Zubie, if you check against the stat list and find out which letter it starts with, I can give you a clue.

5:26 am

First coffee, then tea, Babbler? :D It's an ha5 - just found out :D I'm off on its trail! *goes mole-ishly* ;D

5:28 am

Zubie, the total points are 2041. So you know how many points you are looking for :)

5:28 am

Got it! Got it! [Jumps up and down] 206!

5:28 am

Hooray! Very well done!

5:29 am

well done zubie, take a bow

5:29 am

*and now a big fat slab of chocolate cake to go with the celebratory tea* congrats, zubie!!! :D

I don't know how you people do it. But I guess it's because you guys have been playing a lot longer. Only been about a week for me.

5:29 am

Thanks, Sprite. I didn't think of looking at the points! *slaps forehead*

5:30 am

I think took me ages to complete a game! Hang in there, Gothic, that first completion is fab!!

5:30 am

Chocolate cake! Thanks! :)

I've had one completion, but it was that 44 word one the other day.

5:32 am

good going!! wait till you complete one about this size, and you get all those niggly little words we were talking about earlier...... !! :D

5:32 am

Gothic, I did not finish a grid in my first week. Or in my second! Took me some time to get there and I think you are doing great.

5:33 am

Right! And those 44-ish ones are not necessarily easier than the bigger ones. Usually they are very tight.

5:33 am

I didn't finish my first three grids and I intentionally resigned on the 483 whopper. I'd have been here all day! Did anyone complete it, do you know?

5:33 am

Hi All Babblers - I've been out for most of the week and came back to this mess :) Does anyone have alist of the E words? TIA

5:33 am

You just have to get more used to the "standard" Babble vocab list. Then a larger % of words become easier, and you can concentrate on the really weird ones!

As I learned. I needed lots-o-clues.

5:34 am

ea 4 4 ea 5 10 ea 4 4 ea 5 10 ea 4 4 el 4 4 el 5 10 em 5 14 er 4 4 er 5 10 er 4 4 er 5 10 er 4 4

5:35 am

Some did, zubie.

5:35 am

Sprite - thanks so much.

5:35 am

I see, Sprite. :)

5:36 am

I will admit to printing the puzzle and taking it to the laundry mat yesterday.... does that mean i'm addicted?!

5:36 am

i'm missing these... and as far as i can tell none of them are obvious... any clues??? ar 5/ 16 ha 5/ 16 ha 6/ 27 la 5/ 10 re 5/ 14 se 5/ 16 sh 5/ 16 they're my last seven and i totally want to finish...

5:37 am

Definitely, Poo's mom... incurably! :D

5:39 am

ar 5/16 Dayner - a certain mount of Biblical fame, but without the middle ra and an added h

5:39 am

Poo's mum - i'm just as bad. When i go to the dentist i take my babble with me

5:39 am

Dayners, ha 5, 6, Hawaiian word for white person, scroll back through the grid a bit

5:40 am

or ar5/14, think Ilkley Moor

5:40 am

Hmmm I do have a dr's appt coming up ......LOL

5:41 am

La5/10 is in the posts somewhere, the currency one. Alt. spelling for a 100th of a rupi.

5:41 am

re5/14 - another word for kingdom....

5:41 am

re 5/14 lies in the mystical - - - - - ;D

5:42 am

la5/10 - I got it from the clue that it rhymes with the name of one of the Stooges....

5:43 am

You probably are missing Sh5/15 Heb., "the all-demanding world" = Gr. Hades, "the unknown region"), the invisible world of departed souls. Play with the vowels.

5:44 am

thanks guys, the re and la i've got. i'm down to five. ooooh.... oooh... no... still five....

5:44 am

And Se5: used to conclude a verse in the Psalms, end, pauze (also Heb.)

5:44 am

I'm going to have to log out now, for a while. See you all later, then. :)

5:45 am

and the sh! good clue sprite.

5:46 am

catch you later, Zubie!! : D

5:46 am

See ye, zubie! :)

5:46 am

see ya zube

5:50 am

That vowel trick works with the Ha-combo as well ;)

5:53 am

DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for the clues

5:55 am

Yah Dayners!

5:56 am

Well done Dayners. Where are you from?

6:00 am

6:46 am

Jen, I think the Royal Mail have still got it. They need a signature (recorded delivery) and i'm without a car just now. They are, of course, manfully disgregarding all my calls and e-mails asking them to redeliver... :/ They honestly could not organise a p***-up in a brewery }( Sorry folks...that's as tame as I can put that :/

6:46 am

7:35 am

Hi Honey, Hi Jera :) Sorry, off in the word of non-Babble for a while there :)

7:39 am

Whew, I'm glad someone finally talked to me... I was getting a bit paranoid there for a minute...

7:41 am

"word of non-babble" Freudian slip? Morning.

7:42 am

hi Jera! where are you from?

7:43 am

Hi, Honey? Are you new? Welcome! I'm in Virginia, near DC

7:43 am

I'm here - but struggling...

7:45 am

Jera, you are in Lorton, right? Though about you when we passed by on 95 yesterday!!

7:46 am

Ah Joel, I'm speaking in tongues. I can never esacpe the clutches of the Grid...

7:47 am

The Grid is all around us. It binds us, connects us. . . never mind.

7:48 am

oic. yeah. a green apple you can say. been silently babling for a week now i think.

7:54 am

That's right, jen... you are close by, I forgot where... Herndon?

7:55 am

ooh, lorton...isnt that where the prison is?

7:55 am

Yup! Right on the Loudoun/Fairfax border! :)

7:57 am

Hi EvaNadine :) How was your weekend??

7:58 am

Not anymore evanadine... they are trying to make it a historical thing now...

7:58 am

hiya anj -- weekend was good... BF and i did a walk for diabetes saturday morning, then i got some early christmas shopping in yesterday. :)

7:59 am

You'll have to coem to my party Saturday... we're gonna cook out & have bunches of kids (in costume) running wild in my backyard... now that's a party, LOL!

7:59 am

ahh, interesting. much nicer to live near history than a prison...hehe

8:00 am

I'm about a mile north of the prison, I live on Ox road (which is 123).

8:03 am

Isn't 123 also Chain Bridge all the way up in Tyson's? My hubby and I remarked as we were passing it, that we were amazed it went all that way! How many kids you planning for?

8:03 am

Eeek! Xmas... how many shopping days left???

8:04 am

Hi jera, joel, eva, honey, jen, alleyn...er anyone else who came in while I was out :)

8:04 am

heh, 2 months from tomorrow! i figure without the roommate, i dont have the extra income, so itll be less painful to do it a bit at a time rather than all at once... plus, i can avoid the insanity of the malls at christmastime!!

8:04 am

hola lola!!

8:05 am

Heeeeyyyyy Lola!

8:10 am

*looks wide-eyed as she just notices that babblers anonymous is linked under "friends of babble"*

8:11 am

Not familiar with Chain bridge road... Old Bridge road is a bit south of me...

8:11 am

123= Ox road as far as I know... could be Chain bridge eventually. I'm still learning the area.

8:13 am

heh, all the roads around DC, MD, VA change names if you follow them far enough...i wouldnt be surprised...

8:14 am

Curiosity got to me... yes, 123 is Chain Bridge up in Tyson's and changes to Ox around Fairfax and stays that way all the way to you.

8:15 am

Don't remind me... I get soooo lost... then I see a familiar road & turn onto it, thinking I'm found... then *poof* it ends! AARRRGGHH!

8:16 am

We live off Old Ox and I took West Ox thinking it would get me home. HA! Not even close!

8:16 am

Cool, Jen... now you know where I am, seriously, stop by Saturday! We're firing up the grill around 4.

8:17 am

No idea how many kids are coming... people never RSVP anymore except to say no... so it could be just family or it could be Sprite's entire class... who knows?

8:18 am

Thanks for the invite!! I'll have to check and see if hubby has already planned something w/o my knowledge... a frequent occurence! lol

anyone have a clue for the lo4/7? I know it's right in front of my face.

8:20 am

heh, i was looking for a halloween party around here, but it doesnt seem anyone i know is throwing one this year! *PLTH*

8:21 am

You can e-mail me jera_shadowdancer@yahoo.com for details... I've announced enough personal information, LOL

Ok, now I feel like a complete dumb-ss. Looking for words more difficult.

8:23 am

GothicAngelMT -- heh, dont sweat it -- its always the shorter words i can never see...or you swear youve already gotten them, but you didnt...

8:24 am

Where are you evanadine?

8:24 am

Thanks Jera! I'm outta here for a while. Talk to y'all later! :) Happy hunting.

8:24 am

i live in MD (near annapolis) but i work in DC near the MCI center

8:26 am

i'm missing the last ha6/27 anyone have a hint?

8:27 am

My husband works in DC, that's why we moved.

8:27 am

8:27 am

I'm missing it, too, bergery... we'll listen together...

8:28 am

He's a computer engineer... his company backs up all the info for DoE

8:29 am

ahh, fun stuff... i work on a contract at the GAO...our contract is up for rebid in about a year, so we shall see if i still have a job then...heh

8:30 am

EvaN, i'm on a Babble-sponsored career break lol It's great fun :)

8:31 am

Just did that scene... hubby went with new company & got a nice raise... but they are working him hard!! Lots of working at home, too, which the kids don't understand...

8:31 am

heh, if babble could pay the mortgage, id be all for it!!

8:31 am

i'm missing a ha 5/16 and ha 6/27 anyone any clues please?

8:31 am

Anj... does that mean you got fired for playing Babble at work??

8:32 am

Jera, just found it. it is the hawaiin word for white man and its plural

8:32 am

Oh duh... I remember that one, bergery!!

8:32 am

by the way Linda, that's the clue for those ha's

8:33 am

Jera, no...I didn't find the site until just after R-Day. The IT rottis would have probably just racked the firewall up a notch if I had though.

8:33 am

yeah, i actually have to really search on for those and end up learning much more that i plan to :)

8:34 am

Oh, okay... Babble sponsered career break can mean a lot of things, LOL!

8:35 am

well i am done. anyone need any hints before i go.

8:51 am

Hi temple :)

i have not heard treble charger...so many bands, so little time

8:53 am

I hate it when I waste an hour forgetting about the H in the corner...

8:53 am

1. Rebellion (Lies) 2. Neighbourhood #1 (Tunnels) 3. Neighbourhood #2 (Laika) 4. Neighbourhood #3 (Power out) 5. Une année sans lumiere

8:54 am

Umm, that is "Une annee sans lumiere" with an accent over the first e of annee. It doesn't like accents obviously.

8:55 am

Thanks yoink! *lola rushes off to broaden her musical horizons*

9:02 am

Be sure to stop off at my last.fm history before broadening your horizons, it's all good on there ;-)

9:04 am

Talking of that Yoink, do you mind if I add you as a friend on there?? I like broadening my musical horizons :)

9:21 am

"two turntables and a microphone"

9:22 am

4sa-- two choices. Either shell out dough for pro version and get access to stats on babble site OR on right of screen, click Babblers Anonymous. Click General and look for posting with current date.

9:22 am

Bobsta- yup, I figured that much! What is that at the bottom then? I want to say your mixer...??

9:29 am

Anj- I haven't found a word since 2! But I found some great music, lol!

9:30 am

Heh, I'm not on the hunt for words either, pretending to work and using lots of ALT+TAB

9:35 am

'bye bubbles :)

9:35 am

'bye Bubbles :) Right, time to try and find some more words lol

9:35 am

Lola: i think you'll find a big sympathiser in Bubbles with the lugging of equipment lol.

9:37 am

le4/7 ... an oven used to anneal glass

9:38 am

Hi Darleen - is that Firefly???

9:38 am

yup. I have a MAD crush on Nate. ;-)

9:38 am

Bye anj and lola. Lola i really do sympathise, my parents store it all, i drive it and lug it and bob plays it......... What a team!

9:40 am

LOL! And do you get the credit you should??? I don't think so!

9:40 am

lol Darleen - this is after the Buffy, Angel, Stargate, Farscape stuff then??

9:41 am

err no comment!!!

9:41 am

Well, to be truthful I never watched Angel (didn't get it on the satellite), nor Buffy (although we switched recently to Dish so picked up a few reruns, lucky me they were the ones with Nate!). Never a big Stargate fan but LOVED Farscape... Firefly ... well I was hooked 2 years ago when it came on Fox.

9:41 am

Hi guys! I`m back again for as long as I can bear to sit in this chair :/

9:42 am

Hi all :) back to the babble grind ... have missed my daily fix!

9:43 am

Hi Lotti :) Good to see you hun :) Darleen, aren't Ben Browder and Claudia Black both in Stargate now??

9:43 am

Okay. A question for UKers. From the "Harry Potter" stories, the character Tonks greets Harry with "wotcher, Harry!" On this side of the pond, no clue as to meaning. Can anyone provide illumination?

9:43 am

Hi Chessy - where have you been??

9:44 am

Bobsta is the man you want for that question joelgee

9:44 am

does anyone have the 4 x n's pls?

9:44 am

wotcher literally means 'watch you' it's a shortened version and gets used as a hello a lot, particularly in London as its quite a cockney saying.

9:45 am

Joel, it's also Wotcha! It's cockney - means 'what cheer'

9:45 am

Hi Rolin......day off?

9:45 am

Hi Anj - away, far far away in a place with no computers ... (Isle of Wight) - not holiday tho'

9:46 am

Anj... Just Ben. Claudia was only on for a guest appearance while (can't remember her name!) was on maternity leave.

9:46 am

*gasps* but, but...ddddon't they have computers over the Solent??

9:46 am

half term lotti...which means i get to do school work at home..*sigh*...but i have determined i need a break..

9:47 am

Hi sis! How you doing today?? Hi chessy! Long time no see :)

9:47 am

What cheer makes more sense to me than watch you so I'll go with that explanation. Firm believer in asking question 'til you get the answer you want.

9:47 am

Gotcha Darleen...must admit I lose track of all that. If I watched everything I wanted I wouldn't have time for anything else, let alone a life :)

9:47 am

Anj - they have wirelesses with cats whiskers and tiny, tiny black and white televisions that only receive programmes made in 1950 ...

9:48 am

Hi lola, how are you doing - have missed the babble fun :)

9:48 am

Well, my tv viewing has become minimal since I discovered Babble!!

9:48 am

You get the same half term as us then. My nephew had his either last week or the week before( Fort William)

9:49 am

hey did you hear the latest on the news this am...tony wants schools to be able to set their own curriculum?????

9:50 am

That will end up t**s up then!!! Teachers can never agree can they!!???

9:50 am

Good grief rolin! That's the sort of thing I left africa to escape from!

9:52 am

Joel, i've added a link under 'Site of the Day' on EZB which might help with our slang :)

9:52 am

sorry, it should be (i'm) 'watching you'. i think the police used it in victorian London. it got shortened down. (at least thats what i read somewhere) Hi lotti :)

9:52 am

*holds hands in the air*..ladies pls...dont shoot the msger..lol..does this man sddenly wake up at 3 am and say..GREAT...i have thought of yet another way to screw things up?...what would happen to sats?..gcse?..ofsted??..

Yoink - did you mention sufjan stevens?!!!...seem to be on same musical wavelength...kind of been half listening and am checking out...must work offline today...catch you all later. evanadine, still here?

9:54 am

Anj-- thanks.

9:56 am

Temple Owl: yes I certainly did, I loved his Michigan album and am loving his Illinois album even more right now.

9:57 am

Sorry Rolin, but i also believe Tony to be one of the biggest tossers in UK history!!! Hi Bobsta, how ya doing hun? Was the Reading course ok?

9:57 am

ahh, gotta love my launchast player... so far has played me def leppard "pour some sugar on me"...soft cell "tainted love"...poe "trigger happy jakc"...the cure "jumping someone else's train"...u2 "sunday bloody sunday"... and now -- meat loaf "id do anything for love (but i wont do that)"

10:03 am

Hi Munner, don`t seem to have been around at the same time for a while :)

joelgee, you've got to google it. there are whole websites dedicated to loving it or hating it, but none can actually describe it. that's all i know--we sure can't get it in memphis. i think it sounds like a breed of dog. or a mineral. or something britney spears would name her kid.

1:09 pm

How do you get a word list to help you finf words??

1:10 pm

haha gem_gem Scoutmom they were trying to make a clue and i was not getting it at so the cookie was confusing me more

1:10 pm

i still don't get it lol

1:11 pm

I know--i looked back in the chat after heating up my deep-fried weasel for lunch.

1:11 pm

Yeah. I just googled it. I'm curious now. If I stumble across it, I'll probably buy some and it'll turn into a chemistry experiment.

1:11 pm

Marmite....Yeast extract, contains vitamins and is 100% vegetarian...looks like brown tar

1:11 pm

cat2...under Friends of Babble, there's a link for Babblers Anon...go there and under General you'll see the stats list for today...courtesy of BrandyJack!!

1:11 pm

Not as many good restaurants on the east side, though, Joelgee. Hi PAV... I am not going to comment on the Go Blue remark... as I am still crying over the 49-14 debacle...

1:12 pm

You guys are making me hungry .. Especially the fried weasel, Yum!!

1:12 pm

well your lunch smells good

1:12 pm

Bugzy-- That's the tradeoff. West side, more convenient for stuff. East side, quieter.

1:12 pm

gem_gem you have not got that word or just dont get there clue

1:12 pm

yes, tbear, but what does it taste like? "yeast extract" does not at all sound appetizing.

1:13 pm

OH torgone.......sorry joelgee your eyes are like nothing to me after seeing torgone in his true light.....

1:13 pm

The best thing I can say about the Lions is how 'bout them Wings?

1:15 pm

tbear - You're too kind. But that's what women have always said: As soon as they saw me, they lost all interest in men ..

1:15 pm

Well, Tbear's forsaken me. I might as well go back to work for awhile. I hate the mature, sensible thing.

1:15 pm

sOz joelgee....fickle female wiles

1:16 pm

I love the east side, the lake, smaller roads... in fact, Warren is too far west for me! Of course there's always hope... as my icon today shows!! I'm a sucker for the underdog... :)

1:16 pm

1:36 pm

I'm just packing up with 140 words. Dinner and TV time in the ol' UK!

1:36 pm

mamabear: there are two wa words; one is what the moon does when it's getting smaller. the other is an old version of the past tense of "to be."

Lupe - no. I tried, but it's just as well, the weather yesterday was awful. Was glad I was watching it in my footiejammies on tv.. tickets were extremely hard to come by. People were paying thousands of $ for them.

1:53 pm

Cheeeesecake :) *lola drools*

1:54 pm

Another stupid Vampire joke: What did Bob Hope say after he was bitten by a vampire?

1:54 pm

Minski--thanks for that "image." it is actually a bottle of baby shampoo, but it's turned to the side. She's holding it by the pump-dispenser at the top. Note the rubber ducky in her other hand, thus completing the bathtub tableau.

1:54 pm

Believe it or not Anj...haven't had a g&t for at least 10 days....

1:54 pm

torgone - oh.... well i missed it as both then - a clue AND a lame joke!! There are 8 m words - someone in here asked..

2:12 pm

thanks, ya'll are the best part of the day bought nutella over the weekend but now i feel too impressionable pretty soon i'll start biting people

2:13 pm

2:13 pm

Bugzy - need the na-4. Monkey typing getting me no where.

2:13 pm

Cheers Griffums. We need more fish...

2:14 pm

Judi - it's one of those funky ones...try Googling this: "the Zeta star of Argo"

2:15 pm

Anj- well-timed. "udon" was the iron chef ingredient the other night

2:16 pm

lol smaller. Udon is like the noodle equivalent of a big rig :)

2:16 pm

Just remember to start with the neck, smaller ..

2:17 pm

ah, well, I do like the phrase "the Zeta star of Argo" anyway :) Even if I have no idea what the he** it means !!

2:20 pm

Hey! Quit ramen me with that udon! You're spoiling maifun!

2:22 pm

2:23 pm

Torgone, you're going to make weasel soup come out of my nose, I'm laughing so hard.

2:23 pm

aaaarrrggghhh - I logged on for some innocent fun and get pelted by vile puns instead! lol

2:24 pm

I can sympathize Anj... I was reading the Google link for the na4 and got entirely caught up in it... The site said that Na4 "will almost certainly explode sometime within the next million or so years." Look out !

2:24 pm

2:24 pm

charm- I think we can quite safely say there is no such thing as innocent fun here :)

2:24 pm

Pav3, Mr. Munster's first name gave me the he 4/9, but I can't get the 4/10 out of it. Am I just brain-dead or what?

2:27 pm

Bugzy, lol, I was a constellation off...I'm thinking of Canis Major (and Orion) I've just been to check up 'cos I had a nagging doubt. I should engage memory more before putting hands into keyboard :)

2:27 pm

2:27 pm

2:37 pm

2:39 pm

boysaway...google hawaiin man slang

2:40 pm

Just found the last he 5/16. It's the plural of a bird, of the family Ardeidae, having a long neck, long legs, a long pointed bill, and usually white, gray, or bluish-gray plumage. It typically is spelled with 2 vowels. For he 5/16, lose the second vowel, then make it plural.

3:17 pm

Our twins are almost 6 but the littlest is a force to be reckoned with! After 27 years of fatherhood he still hasn't learned how to smile, say yes a lot and still get them to do it your way! He always goes headlong into battle and loses about 90percent of the time!

3:18 pm

LOL Lola, Bunny, and Scouts :) I always say that being with a toddler is like being with a drunk: the irrational mood swings, the shouting, the silly talk, the gushing displays of affection...

3:18 pm

Lo, you put your money on the 3 year old *cowers behind settee*

3:19 pm

snowy you have to admit the "little one" is a force to be reckoned with

3:20 pm

Bugzy - not to mention the throwing-up!!

3:20 pm

Evening all Got to 200 words and cant find the other 6 - argahh!! Is everyone else have a lovely day despite the weather?

5:28 pm

Baggo, er, did you ALL go out to eat last night???

5:30 pm

5:32 pm

5:34 pm

5:34 pm

Right babblers, I'm off to get some shut-eye. Be good now :) 'nite babe ((((xxx)))) see you tomorrow :)

5:34 pm

nite lola...

This has probably been asked a million times, but anyone have clues for: LA 5/10 (not the plural for roads) TE 5/10 (not the medical term)

5:35 pm

I feel your pain, baggo .. Hope you're all back on your feet soon .. Don't know if this helps, but *HUG*

5:36 pm

Niters lola ..

5:36 pm

thanks torgone it does..you're so sweet to me.. :-)

5:37 pm

la5/10 - no idea of definition, but think of a synonym for big, then change the last consonant to a vowel...

5:37 pm

te 5/10... one of them doesn't have a def... the other one says "The end of a goal-oriented process"

5:37 pm

'nite Lo :) sweet dreams babe (((xx)))

5:38 pm

ok i'm throwing the fish out, before i head to a2z for my last 2, which at this point would probably be the easiest, but can't do it.. i need an ha 5/16 and ha 6/27 i have the gretel ones and these 2 are right near those...

5:40 pm

those ha's are a singular and pl of Hawaiian word for white person

5:40 pm

Good Evening All Late start on Mondays my son plays football every week, we all get in late....time to get babbling

5:40 pm

Those are popular today, baggo .. Do you have the hawaiian word for white person?

5:40 pm

baggo, see charms post at 5:14 for ha....

5:40 pm

Is there an L list, I logged on and found almost all of them right away, but I'm a few short.

5:40 pm

no i didn't thank you very much...you've saved my life torgone..

5:43 pm

jo click on the babblers anonymous link in the friends of babble..go to general and click on stats...

5:44 pm

baggo: sorry family sick, that has to be the worst..

5:44 pm

My pleasure .. I'll go back to biting your neck when your blood's a little cleaner ..

5:45 pm

Hi Speed, Hi Jo :)

5:45 pm

hello

5:45 pm

hey speed yeah it's awful, but tomorrow's another day...torgone you got a date...some dark night huh??

5:49 pm

And I'm done. Some old favourites in there today. All the best to those still discovering the joys of the h words!

5:51 pm

I have 34 h's. Are there any more?

5:52 pm

44 Kristin.

5:52 pm

there are 49 h's total

5:52 pm

49 aitches, I believe.

5:52 pm

49 H's total

5:52 pm

Jo you forgot the h in the corner... it has 5

5:52 pm

Ooops. Missed those bottom h's. sorry

5:52 pm

Geez - I thought I was almost finished with them!!!

5:53 pm

well thank you all for your help, got music playing and i must go, tunes will be playin...lite nothin heavy anj..speed did you figure out how to get on??

5:53 pm

Well, considering the difference between 49 and infinity, you're relatively close.

5:54 pm

baggo: never had a chance yesterday and since I am already running late tonite might have to wait...I need my 16 yr. next to me

5:54 pm

Jo-- Can't. Stop. Staring. At. Your. Chicken. The eyes seem to follow me.

5:55 pm

i'm sorry ... gonzo might flip out if he catches you staring.

5:55 pm

lol joel noticing eyes 8-)

5:56 pm

Baggo-- Your point?

5:56 pm

speed i'm getting better and moving around it..will do more maybe tomorrow when i have more time...

5:56 pm

Joel ... where is saint clare? I'm from Rogers City, MI - on Lk Huron.

5:56 pm

if it weren't for your smile, your eyes would freak me out...lol

5:57 pm

Actually, St. Clair Shores. I don't want to be picky, but there is also a Saint Clair, MI. I'm across the street from Lake Saint Clair, north of the Pointes.

5:58 pm

Could any of you pros help me with ar 7/28 or le 4/7? I'm sooo close.

5:58 pm

Ah, ok. :-)

5:58 pm

nite all!!

5:59 pm

:Nite Baggo Hope everyone sleeps thru the night for you:))

6:00 pm

Kimm , its a little obscure, I monkey-typed it. Anyone have a good clue for it?

6:00 pm

Take care, Baggo. Hope all is well soon.

6:00 pm

Sweet dreams, baggo ..

6:01 pm

le 4/7: Apparently its a city in ND or: Hungarian composer of light operas, most notably The Merry Widow

6:02 pm

Jo- Is monkey typing just random typing?

6:02 pm

Yes.... I partake a lot. ;-)

6:06 pm

Jo- I've got the word and I see it on the grid but it won't let me type it. It says it is not valid. Weird. I guess I need to go pro.

6:07 pm

just managed to claw back my laptop......hiya

6:07 pm

Just did a little googling. The Le4/7 is a city in ND, but not the composer. You'd have to remove a vowel from the composer's name.

Kimm- take out the last vowel

6:12 pm

Thanks Vicky, got it.

how about for the an 5/10 and an 4/4- I have the scottish one

6:17 pm

can't believe aw7 is accepted!!

6:17 pm

what aw7?

6:18 pm

This is weird. Anybody seeing numbers on the grid?

6:19 pm

aw7......not present without asking permission

6:19 pm

Sorry folks, but Hasbo is leaning on me again. I had to change the tiles one more time. I'm not completely sold on the new look - the numbers are a bit too distracting at first glance. But I'm going to give it a day or two to let you guys get used to them. Then we'll take a vote and see how you like 'em. To view the new tiles force-reload (hold down "option" or "alt" while refreshing) the page.

6:19 pm

joelgee, maybe it's just your googly eyes... lol, sorry no numbers here!

6:21 pm

The numbers don't seem to correlate with anything.

6:21 pm

Te 5/10- not the end of a goal oriented process. Oh puhlease?

ick, they are really distracting at first glance

6:21 pm

I like the new look

6:21 pm

ok... now I see numbers... that's gonna take some getting used to!

6:22 pm

Points. That's it. I'm officially tired. Later.

6:23 pm

Why can't the corporate giants leave us alone...

6:25 pm

You'll also notice that the numbers themselves have changed. This was something else I was forced to change. So Brandyjack is going to have to redo his little stats program.

6:25 pm

No wonder I can't find that first ha4/9.....

6:25 pm

anyone have a clue please for the M 6's

6:26 pm

OH Brandyjack: This is soo depressing...I was on the other site with this one now its off to a2z

6:29 pm

m 6 Belonging to or used at the table... I think the other one has something to do with this meaning too??!

6:29 pm

speedfreak- I've heard a2z mentioned a few times in the last few days. Whazat?

6:29 pm

GAAAAHHHH!!!! That is going to take a LOT of getting used to ...

6:29 pm

as there are new values on the letters now & I,ve refreshed the page, will that affect tonights scoring or am I being stupid?

6:29 pm

hi all who's got hints for the 2 7's?

6:30 pm

No snowy, you are not. New lists will be posted shortly. Only the scores will change, not the orders....

6:30 pm

kimm: it's a site that gives lists of words...we have been trying to do it without..some people call it cheating

6:31 pm

snowy: I assume Dr_God has to redo the stats program also... weird look

6:31 pm

Oh, Isee.

6:32 pm

Thanks brandyjack

6:32 pm

yeah... finished the H's... (I feel like I have truly accomplished something!!)

6:33 pm

slightly greek looking don't you think? I'm sure we'll get used to it, although it does look odd now.

6:34 pm

to7 28= pl of to6 18 (think 2 roads)

6:35 pm

ty pav

6:35 pm

Niamh: Congrats to you I have 14 left but might take a break and do an easier letter for awhile:)

6:35 pm

9 words left, but I need to feed the family. Any help with ar 6/18, ar7/28, re 6/36, or the 2nd te 5/10?

6:36 pm

Dr_G-d :-( Bummer!

6:36 pm

Ye gods & little fishes... wha happened to the font on the tiles??? (me likey)

6:36 pm

kimm: ar think nipples rest I can't help yet

6:37 pm

speedfreak... I had to tackle that one, it was bugging me!!

6:38 pm

This is a good change for us blind as a bat babblers...

6:38 pm

ar7 28 = also pl of ar6 18 Anatomy. A small ring of color around a center portion, te5 10 (2nd one) starts like the first 'cept change the last two ltrs to that which resembles DOS, Windows, Unix, etc.

6:38 pm

hey! a bunch of numbers just appeared below all my squares (in each square)... what does that mean?

6:38 pm

Thanks speedfreak. I saw that clue earlier, but didn't get it til now.

6:38 pm

te 5/10 The end of a goal-oriented process

6:38 pm

re 6/36 the clue someone gave was going over something again and again and again

6:39 pm

The new tiles don't look too bad, maybe the numbers could be a different color...?

6:39 pm

Niamh- that's the one I have. Do you have the other?

6:39 pm

walnutchen -- see Dr. G-ds posts below. The numbers were always there, just not this obvious.

6:39 pm

ah i see. hahaha. sorry. me = lame - should pay more attention...

6:39 pm

re 6/36 is to go over something again

6:40 pm

Kimm...see my post a min ago...!

6:40 pm

Niamh - thanks for the M clues

6:41 pm

Thanks Pav3 and niamh. I'm working on it.

6:43 pm

te 5 / 10 A thin weblike structure plural

6:43 pm

Yay, I'm done! About drove myself crazy looking for those two rh's I forgot to type in, LOL!

6:43 pm

kimm... the other te = tissue or structure like web: a delicate part or tissue in the body with a fine or intricate pattern like a web

6:43 pm

The tiles are clear. Maybe they'll prove to be easier on the eyes.

6:43 pm

That's what I'm thinking snowyowl...

6:44 pm

your welcome for m clues!! I'm glad it helped

6:44 pm

Congrats Jera- long time no see. Everything ok with you?

6:44 pm

Thanks pinecone and niamh!

6:45 pm

no problem Kimm... see you later!

6:45 pm

Doing pretty well, busy preparing for the big holiday... I'm gonna be worn out by the time it's actually here!

6:47 pm

hi all.... good evening

6:49 pm

Our lot will all be in their own homes for Halloween & the Guide movement in the UK does not allow us to have halloween activities. Our unit is not meeting on that night as the children like ti trick or treat. Over here a lot of units are attatched to churches and they object to the celebration.

6:51 pm

snowy: pardon my ignorance, but what is the Guide Movement?

6:51 pm

Really? Why no Halloween party? We do a JGL thing for the Troop, but that's an odd official policy... do people find it offensive for some reason?

6:52 pm

hi all - have two a's to go - any help\would be appreciated - its the an5/10 and al 4/7 that i'm missing.

6:52 pm

Girl Guides are like Girl Scouts in other countries

6:52 pm

hey! the H tile should be 4 pts not 2 pts, no?

6:52 pm

That would be your girl scout movement I believe Speed. I run a group for 5-7 yr olds and help at a group for 7-10 yr olds

6:52 pm

Niamh- hate to bother you again, but about that te 5/10. I'm still stuck. Does it rhyme with anything?

6:53 pm

sandr opp of afar...and ahigh

6:53 pm

it is, walnut

6:53 pm

wonderful pav 3 - thanks alot

6:53 pm

walnutchen...read the posts...Dr. God was forced to make changes and incl was changing some tile values...

6:53 pm

I'm gonna put the old tiles back up until midnight. Changing the numbers in the middle of a puzzle was a bad idea.

6:54 pm

think of the british refering to the phone (that's the way it looks... probably not really pronounced like that)

6:54 pm

I really like the new letters

6:54 pm

Thank you Dr_God.

6:54 pm

Niamh- bless you!

6:55 pm

unless there is some technical problem, we can deal with it Dr. God... no worries!

6:55 pm

I agree with you Jera Halloween is becoming a much bigger thing here now & I know it is a big holiday for you. the churches object on the black magic connotations etc, which I think is taking things a bit far., but in these days of political correctness!!!!!!

6:55 pm

he. sorry - a bit slow after 175 words... my eyes are going bonkers!

6:55 pm

no problem Kimm! ;~)

6:56 pm

snowy... i felt the same way until moving here 2 yrs ago (i am a brit)... i've learned it seems more to do with the fun of dressing up and conning as many sweets as you can out of people!

6:56 pm

snowy: a lot of churches turn it into a celebration of the fall to keep away from the "black magic" have to say in my younger days we did the whole cemetary thing in Salem Mass with the "real" witches, it was one of the most memorable Halloweens!!

6:57 pm

I consider myself fortunate to live in a religiously diverse area, but I'm still in the broom closet IRL... better safe than sorry & I don't want my children to suffer...

6:57 pm

Okaaaaaay...disappear for an hour and someone spraypaints the grid and probably nicks its wheels as well ...and changes the tile values lol :) Babble gets a 21st century makeover then...

6:59 pm

A good compromise for a JGL birthday party is to dress up as your favorite woman from history... that went over very well last year...

7:00 pm

Real Witches Rock (not that I'm biased or anything) ;>

7:00 pm

Dr_God, now that I think about it I agree. People who are already done would have a higher score. I was unable to find an archived game with the new V artwork. They all showed up with the old artwork. Does the V keep it's value of 4?

7:00 pm

any clues for the em5/14 ? just not seeing it. I like thenew tiles by the way.

7:01 pm

We actually meet in a church hall and our vicar won't allow halloween parties there. We usually have a party that covers halloween & Guy Fawkes night - a costume party that doesn't involve halloween dressing up. This year we had planned a 'Sauages beans and jeans' night. but as our meeting fell on 31st the children preferred to 'trick or treat'

7:02 pm

Jera: Being in Salem so much the witches are not into black magic, but mostly ritualistic ceramonies, some were quite fascinating..

7:03 pm

sandr the em5 sounds like an eastern leader.

7:03 pm

em 5/14 = an independent ruler or chieftain (especially in Africa or Arabia) (also spelled with an i as a four letter word)

7:04 pm

Thanks, speedfreak, I'll take that as a compliment... Samhain is very special to me, especially since my mother passed on... also honoring those who died during the burning times...

7:04 pm

thanks jera - could have sworn i had typed that! am so losing it tonight!

7:05 pm

snowyowl... that makes sense.

7:07 pm

Jera: It was a compliment...I found those ceremonies quite religious and moving...The Salem witch trials were a sad commentary on people...sadly that kind of panic can still happen today..

7:07 pm

I think its Sherbs birthday on Halloween ( read it in her profile) perhaps we should have a party for her?!!!

7:07 pm

Just 30 seconds ago the 'new' letters...now I'm viewing the 'old' letters....one could get eye strain.

7:10 pm

Last word. Can anyone help me with ar 5/16 so I can feed my family? I'm so addicted.

7:11 pm

kimm: Go eat....ar plus something you wear on your head...:)

7:11 pm

kimm ar 5/16 add something u wear on your head

7:12 pm

Thank you speedfreak. My family thanks you as well. Night all!

7:12 pm

ar5 - head gear that sounds as if it belongs to us both

7:12 pm

brandyjack- The "V" does indeed stay at "4"

7:13 pm

I need a clue for the first re 5 /10...not the one about kidneys

7:14 pm

Dr_God, it'll be interesting to see what the final scores are. If my logic is correct and the game won't update the score of a word already found, then words found in the few minutes of the change could be off if they involved changed values.....

7:15 pm

pinecone - another word for a lasso or lariat

7:16 pm

Hello Dr. God, funny the grid won't take "alot" , I use this word..... alot !! ??

7:17 pm

"alot" It is not one word. It is a lot. A lot of people, including me, learned this after not having this mistake corrected while attending school.

7:18 pm

Yeah, I guess I skipped class that day !!

7:24 pm

brandyjack- Don't worry about the scores. I didn't change the point calculations behind the scenes. I only updated the tile images. So it was only a cosmetic change for a while.

7:24 pm

Yea!!! H's are in their cages!! Hope there are none in tomorrows puzzle:)

7:25 pm

any help with the ar 6/18 and ar 7/28?

7:26 pm

stillcrazy: think nipples

7:27 pm

I won't comment but ty

7:28 pm

Dr_God: Not trying to be a pain, but does that mean all of us who finish today and tonight will have the same score?

7:28 pm

Got it and that was a great clue!

7:29 pm

Thank you snowyowl. I found the lasso word and I now have only one more word to go thanks to you!

7:29 pm

speedfreak- Yes. Pretend like the tiles never changed. (Dr_God waves the Men in Black thingamabob in front of speedfreak's face)

7:29 pm

speedfreak, that's exactly what he said. All scores will be fine, and I should learn to keep my mouth shut. This rumour will take on a life of it's own real quick.....

7:30 pm

Hey, did you flashy-thing speedfreak?!?

7:30 pm

I'm already under your power with Babble Dr_God, at this point you have us all trained:))

7:30 pm

Hey, my screen just went black. Careful with that thingy....

7:31 pm

yw pinecone

7:32 pm

need an la 5/10 (not the plural one) and an me 6/24 (not the extension of the 5/14) any help?

7:33 pm

tile change? my keen sense of observation must be lacking.

7:33 pm

oooH Jera I got flashy thinged by Dr_God!!! LOL

7:35 pm

oh got the me one myself

7:35 pm

7:39 pm

Hi all ... any luck tonight? Just loggin in and find something about new tiles and numbers??? I tried alt renew but that did not work so far wats wrong??? Tbear did not get your clue on the aw7 too babbled or what?

7:40 pm

got the me one already speed but ty I did just that

7:40 pm

la5/10 - no def. think of a synonym for big, then change the last consonant to a vowel

7:41 pm

lucky: aw4/7 when you leave the military against orders..just walk away

7:41 pm

Lucky, the tile changes will be visible tomorrow.

7:43 pm

Brandyjack: Are you going to be able to do the 2 letter stats again after a day to reprogram the new numbers, I love those , Thank You!!!

7:45 pm

stillcrazy...la5 10...think guys name, similar to sa5 10 which sounds sorta like "sorry"

7:45 pm

ty Vicuna.....that helped a lot and I got it!!!

7:45 pm

BTW all, just finished...

7:45 pm

ty PAV!

7:46 pm

Clapping for Pav3 Great Job!!

7:46 pm

7:46 pm

The change is already done. I just hope Dr_God follows through with the change tonight or I'll have to scramble to undo my changes........ I posted the modified stats for today on Babblers Anon in a secondary message. Drastic points change. Todays list would have dropped from 2041 to 1793.

7:47 pm

wow that's a big difference

7:47 pm

WOW: Brandyjack you are unbelievable..Thank You!!!

7:47 pm

I need the se 5/16 one

7:50 pm

7:51 pm

Hi Brandy and Speed thanks !

7:51 pm

7:52 pm

You rock speed I'm originally from Lynn and I got the word now ty ty ty!

7:52 pm

another good clue PAV ty!

7:52 pm

7:54 pm

that got me up to 200 now only need 6 more and those are all to words..the 2 to 6/18s and the to 7/28 and a 5/10 and 4/4 one

7:54 pm

lol speed...it shooa does!

7:55 pm

Brandyjack - you are a hero! Your stats really help. I've a feeling some grids would take me days without them! Dr God - Like the new tiles. I have finished at last! I printed the grid at 8.00am yesterday morning! Have had 3 litties to look after & thats my excuse! Now 1.54 am here so I'm going to catch some sleep before they all wake again. 10:40 pm

ta 4/7... like the kind of feet cats have only with a t....

10:41 pm

ta4/7 = Any of several goatlike mammals of the genus Hemitragus of mountainous regions of Asia, having curved horns and a shaggy coat.

10:41 pm

it's a letter of the Hebrew alphabet

10:41 pm

I have that one and the one with an o in place of the w

10:43 pm

ahhh...then torgone's clue is the one you need

10:43 pm

ta4/7 or ta4/4?

10:43 pm

that figures.

10:44 pm

ta 4/7

10:44 pm

can someone explain points, like gretel's friend is 27 points? when the letters are only worth 9, thanks for taking time to enlighten me :0)

10:45 pm

ovest - it depends on the number of letters in the word. 4's are single value, 5's are double and so on

10:45 pm

ovest longer words are multiplied... it's explained better in the rules

10:46 pm

thank you mamabear and niamh, i read the rules but maybe too much babbling, couldn't follow............

10:47 pm

length - 3 = multiplier 6 - 3 = 3 points = 9 3 * 9 = 27.

10:48 pm

got my ta 4/7 - monkey type/a2z combo!!!!

10:48 pm

don't feel bad ovest I had to recheck them today and still don't have all that straight ;~)

10:51 pm

10:51 pm

brandyjack, thank you, r u a math major? haha, that does simplify and help! :0)

10:52 pm

niamh, clueless, maybe that elusive goal to accomplish, problem is you don't get anything else done!

Need three re's- the last three: re6/18 re6/36 re5/10

10:54 pm

I like this puzzle - I can make my last name! Gotta go at 101 words, but broke 100 words on my own today. Thanks for the gingerbread brother and sister hint for 101!

10:54 pm

that's definately part of it... I think maybe I want to be more literate, so this helps improve my vocabulary?

10:55 pm

Oh, and the other reason I like this puzzle, the phrase "hot md" on the bottom line. Yup, hot doctor. Whoo hoo! 'Nite, everybody!

10:56 pm

10:56 pm

Haha, i like the idea of being more literate but most of these words make NO sense to me and I know Idaho is rural but not that rural..............

10:57 pm

ovest - if you click on the question mark before the word, it will take you to the definition of it. they really are all words..... amazingly

10:59 pm

thanks mamabear i will do that, than i will increase my vocabulary knowledge and impress my s.i.l.! hahaha

11:00 pm

11:16 pm

any clue to share for ol 5/10 have the other o's :0)

11:27 pm

Rachie - the me 6's both build from the me 5/14 just above them (if you have that one) - just add a different letter for each one.

11:30 pm

thank you so much Griffums!

11:31 pm
