That's so true. I am always pleasantly surprised to learn how well-behaved my kids are... when at someone else's place :) Somehow our education must have rubbed off on them, though we hardly notice at home.
I think it's the whole comfort factor thing. We always act differently in our own territory where we know everything that's going on (presumably) than in areas where others are obviously in control
Yeah, and as a parent you should be satisfied with giving your kids enough tools to handle themselves in such less-comfortable surroundings, I think. Oh well, I nag, but I am proud of them as well.
If you didn't nag you wouldn't be a good parent. Nothing boggles my mind more than parents who want to be buddies with their children. Parents are leaders and guides, not buddies.
You are so right! I have friends of my kids here all the time and they all seem so glad to find a place where the rules are strict and clear. I am always in for fun, but my rules apply... at all times. Seems like they are much more comfortable with that than at home, where they have a say in everything.

That is what other parents I have talked to have said as well. Much as kids rebel against rules, they definitely are happier to know that there is a structure to existence.

I sometimes think that kids just get too much responsibility if they are in charge. They shouldn't have, they should be kids and feel safe and relaxed knowing that grownups are taking care of things. That should teach them it can be done... so they will take responsibility when it is their turn to be grownup.

You guys are depressing me. My almost-three year old son scares and frustrates me on a daily basis as it is. :)
:) You'll manage, tracicle. We all do. And I found it becomes easier, once they get to the state they can be reasoned with. Of course they can think out more things to frustrate you too, then... but still, I am glad my kids are at an age they can be talked with.
Always good to hear from someone who's been there. It's a been a particularly tough week -- which is why I haven't been babbling for a bit -- so anything positive is a good thing right now! (Yet they're so cute, even at their most evil...)
I think that is because you see how incredibly brave they are. Can you imagine, making the person you depend on for life mad as hell? They do it all the time, they are heroes ;) And 3 is a tough age, I know. Hang in there and know that all the repeating you do will pay off in the end. ;)

I wondered about the language thing as well Cathy. I worked with a woman from England years and years ago. I've forgotten alot of what she taught me
Paddy - you can get very basic xstitch kits which have plastic to sew on instead of aida or evenweave. Apparently that makes it easier to get stuff right all the time! There are loads of designs with that plastic stuff - including Disney, christmas cards etc

When I'm down to trying to fill in missing words, I usually open a second window with the second letter list from BabAnon ..
re: stats, I've gone low tech. I print out the 2nd letter list. For me, easier to check and cross off.

That's the gameplan with my daughter. So far it's working. She's only two right now, but she has her favorite books memorised and when I need quiet time (such as for Babbling) she would rather pretend to be reading her books than watch TV.

Eq8: last half is your se4, the one that ends with a vowel. First half means 'the same' as in one object is the same distance from another two objects, for ex.
Aknitter: eq8 is hard. I only got it after typing a billion words from a2z. Try this: The first two letters are equ, as you know. The next two letters are the 3rd person of the "to be" verb in the english language. The last three letters are the 7th letter of the greek alphabet.
