And we stayed up to witness this tunover...
R8/40 & R9/54
yeah, aren't we all glad... :-P
and the bad word for the day only has 3 letters. so HA
a 7/28
now I have to stop typing and look for the bad word!
Morning dear gang!
it's a T & A board, harpjane
morning sprite!
2 bad words harpjane!
hee hee hee
TTTAAANNN - pathetic grid, this one! No creativity at all, lol.
Good morning/evening all
Hi c-nan!
ok.. here's the plan... I get the r8 & 9 and then go to bed........
Morning GreyWoulf! Well, evening to you. :) Morning Cybernan.
well, if I tried that plan I'd be up all nite.
hi cybernan & sprite!!!!! iceboy - too early for r8 clue? Please please please.. this bear needs to hibernate!
Sounds like a plan, MAMA! I'll help. With hunting or begging, whatever :)
hi Darleen!!!!!
OK, I have to go take care of the cats and clean the living room before I can come back to do some more. MAMA - good hunting and see you tomorrow (*hug*) To everyone else, I'll see you in a short bit or else later
r/8 40
r/9 54
Hi mamabear!
BTW, sprite - good morning is appropriate - it's 1 AM here so it fits :D
good nite GW... *hugs back* thanks for the good company
LOL GreyWoulf... you are right, it is all a matter of perspective. A very good morning to you then, and good luck with the domestic chores. Did you enjoy your daughter's visit to the park? And did she?
Morning Sprite - still evening here! (10:15 pm)
Isn't it great, the way we come together from all timezones to get our daily bread?
n/7 28
MAMA: to compensate for the 3-letter naughty word at least we have E4/4 :)
just in case someone wants it z6/33
LOL Sandbox. We all want it :) And I see the word for when your behind hurts is there again... and still not valid.
yeah. found the Z happy dance
Thanks, Sandbox74! Got the 'z' Haven't seen you on Main Street lately.
Glory B!!!!! I got the z and the r 8 & 9... I'm off to catch a few winks.... good nite fellow babblers!! Have fun... *bear hugs to all*....
Gwen: I have been swamped by RL. Been catching up on everything forum by forum but it seems that the Main street fora always gets put off for another day. Maybe during the Christmas vacation, I can finally get back to a semblance of normal.
It's not much, but I've got all the d's and o's (um 84 to go.) Oh well, tomorrow's another day.
is it too early to ask help for the r8 and r9, the latter obviously plural???
Well, not exactly plural, since they are verb forms. Get again.
helenary: the r8 & 9 maybe words you found yesterday that you find again today
great clues..eventually got it. thank you.
And I'm back...again I am such a masochist sprite - re: the park -- yes we both enjoyed ourselves although if she had her way, we would have brought have the park home in my pockets! :D
I have 84 words, which looks like a good place to stop and find my bed for the night -- til tomorrow, if any of you are still around. Must say I'm impressed by those of you who found the z word -- haven't a clue!
That's only because we're CRAZIER than you nan
we are maybe just a bit MORE CRAZY(*wink*) than you, c-nan
Mornin' Griff!
Clues in stereo brought to you by the Babble Canids
Mornin'? Sez you!
Thank you GW - as good as a night cap!
Sleep well, c-nan :)
Well, it's morning here! by 2 and a half hours :P
:) Here it's late, dark, cold. And that's just inside my brain.
You definitely have my full respect, Griff I don't think I would survive up there, though I would love to visit because it is so gorgeous!
Well, it's not like I'm writing from an igloo. This is the hard part though - the shock of real transition into winter. We go into that dark night crying like girly men. After awhile the tears freeze and we move into acceptance.
That's what I'm talking about -- the transition into the long night -- I am one of those people who visibly reacts to the seasons and length of the days. Every winter I become quieter until the winter solstice. As soon as the days start getting longer again, my personality shifts.
Oh. Well then yeah, you'd be toast.
lol
We play the mind game though - "only six more weeks until the days start getting longer" when actually it's going to be February before we see another day that's as long as today. Denial denial!
How's this for a tease? It's been so hot lately that the wife just had to turn on the AC in the bedroom so she can get to sleep :)
Urrrgh! My mom flies back (to Reading) this Friday night. Maybe I'll stow away!
Well if you do, I'm only about an hour away - you could come by and visit :D
:)))
Morning chaps....tea,toast and......Babble
hi tbear!
hello tbear the grid found a bogo sale today :)
It's our old pal Grover!
Hi aling
Errrr what's a bogo sale Greywoulf?
Howdee, all!
Buy One Get One (usually) free
Geez, that whole top right corner is useless!
Morning all, overslept aargh, what a way to start the week. Glad you asked that question tbear!
That's BOGOF Greywoulf......
i 6/18
Hows the grid today?
Hi FMitch It's tricky finding out the differences between here and there (lol) --- the internet connects us but doesn't give us a travel guide
morning Fmitch.....don't give urself grief over it... ;)
tbear - sometimes it's buy one, get one half price, or some other offer -- the only consistent part is the Buy One, Get One part
LOL Hi GreyWoulf, v true.
the grids another small one only 122 with lots of little ones
Yeah, unfortunately that bogof worked with my girls......!!!!
Staring at the grid for some reason is not making words magically appear, wonder why? Think I had better come back to this later. Have a good afternoon, evening, day where ever you are.
Bye mitch
Greywoulf yr icon reminds me of the novel by the Horse Whisperer author..
It's that kind of board, Fmitch Have good day and Good Hunting later!
Which book is that, tbear?
can't remember the title but it's about wolves...read too much...all becomes a thread....no fine detail,like titles
Love to how people come by their handles or nicknames....did you choose yrs?
I think you mean The Loop...had to think on it a while because the title had nothing to do with wolves
I hear you - I used to work for a book store an dhad to know all the books, but never had time to read for myself as a result Lately, I have been working to catch up, but I find myself rereading books I have read before because I don't remember the title, just the events within
Bleah. Gotta call it a night. 50 down, 72 to go! Good night!
'Night aling!
yes Griffums....wasn't great if i remember...but ok
Take care aling! Better luck later!!
I have his The Divide on my shelf but haven't read it yet.
Jus finished another Paul Theroux....Dark Star Safari
the Divide...latest from that author??
As for my handle, it was sort of a mutual choosing I have always had an interest/fascination with wolves - one of the first books I remember reading is "The Jungle Book" And when I started studying Wicca, Wolf chose to manifest as one of my totem beasties As a result, my friends have called me Woulf for the past 15+ years
The Divide - from Nicholas Evans, yes. I got it as a light weekend read and then I never got a light weekend. The Theroux book sounds marvelous from the promo copy.
Marvelous....but frustrating study...makes you wanna go there yourself and get all the do gooders out or turn back time 500 years...also Theroux(whom I've always admired) kinda irratated me (Might just be me at the moment and not him at all) Damn good book as all of his
Sounds like a teeth-sinker!
Thx for that Greywoulf....have to tell you mine...at the grand old age of 16,I was a bit twin set and pearls and fell in love with a boy at school who was a bit hippy..overnight I turned (dress wise) into a hippy and part of this attire was an afghan coat (which stank!!) As soon as he saw me he said,'You look like a bear!!' Forgot that nickname until 3 yrs ago when we met up again and the first thing he said was 'It's Bear'.....
Aaaawww! That's sweet!
Well have done the grand sum of one word so far and that's da4....so that what I'm gunna do da4 off a few more words.........
I am at 65 myself Gonna work for ten more minutes then turn into a pumpkin
It's so easy to forget the time difference... now at 2 words da4x2
I know, part of me wishes that I could sit in this chair all day, just chatting with all my new friends from around the world that this game has introduced me to
It is something quite unique to Babble,I'm sure,at least for me...people are friends and individuals...and when I log on can't wait to see whose playing....
Greywoulf....before yr glass slipper falls off....give me a little clue to the z......please
It's related to the whole pre-established common interest and mind set deal, I'm sure
If you are more crazy than me, you are za****
yay...found.....thx
np do you want a hint towards the re8/9 combo?
si'l vous plait
at6/18 - to achieve a goal becomes at7 by adding one letter put re in front for the re8 & 9 There you go, 4 clues for the price of 2 (a BOGO if you will ;D)
Oh oh - I found the fish in the grid!
you a very nice man....just got 4 from that....big bear hug
a double Bogof
And now I really must go to sleep am getting up with the little one and while she is well behaved, she is not lenient with her daddy when he has been up all night Babbleing... Hug back, tbear and then (*hugs for everyone*) Good Luck and Good Hunting! TTFN
'Night GW -
sleep well Greywoulf.....and special bear hug for little one....long may she stay little....
Griffums,it's just me and thee....at least if you look back on the log,it feels that way
Yes, and I'm fading... Thought I could sit down here and just finish it pretty quickly, but with 26 wds to go it feels like they must be 26 impossible words!
if yiou know which ones...I could lend you my eyes
I know which ones but am too tired to work clues, though that ae 7/28 is bugging me, seems like it must be related to 4/4 but I can't come up with the extension.
Put what you do on a chair,in the past tense
Well that was easy - thanks!! Stumbled onto 6 more in the meantime. That's it for me, going to bed and will try to finish tomorrow night before the witching hour.
sleep well Griffums....
Thanks - you have a good day!
OOoooooooOOOOOOooooooooOOOOOOO ooooooooOOOOOOOOO while there's no-one here...thought I'd see if there is an echo...OOOOoooooOOOOoooo
And a bit of tap dancing....tra la
That bored????????
Not going to attempt a cartwheel...it's been too long...
fandor....sneaking up on me...that's not fair
no sneaking, just quiet.
ok words
sorry...for making all that noise...just felt like being in a big ampty hall and my inner child was released
Its all goooood........
:)
OOOOOooooooOOOOOOO.....sorry
What are you sorry for?
OOOOoooooooing again
It is all right. I need to get back to work, my lunch break is over now.
fandor where are you?
California.
tbear - are those good OOOOoooooooooOooooooo's?
so you're about 4 hours ahead of us
thx Dianne,I try...what's ur flag?
Hong Kong. Actually I think it is around 1am in California right now.
fandor have a good afternoon and nice to meet you....
Yes, it is 1:00 am.
fandor....enjoy your 'LUNCH' and i thought i was mad.....lol
Thank you. Enjoy the rest of your night.
Now you're just trying to confuse me...
I work the night shift. I won't get off until the sun comes up. Some people call it the graveyard shift. So I eat my lunch at 12:30 am
fandor - where in CA?
pass me a sandwich then.....what's in it?
Hello everyone :) Haven't been here in ten days or so!
Tonight was chicken and stuffing.
and what do you do fandor?
Electrician in a industrial plant.
Hi Zubie...where have you been?
My brother's a sparky too
Gotta go. Enjoy.
Hi tbear. Was on vacation. I missed babble and that's just after having played for a week! :D
thx speak again
Zubie...I know...it really should come with a W.H.O. health warning
It should! :) How many words in total, today?
122...1x9 1x8 6x7 11x6 38x5 65x4
122
122 sounds good. :)
I'm off.....one before I go e4...god of love....adios
Bye, tbear. :)
Good morning, night, day, evening ect everyone
guess no one is here at this time
judierae - Hi - you're not completely alone :)
oh good, 'cause I was gonna go away and shed a few tears
No need for tears - fairly easy puzzle today.
looks like it....
this is ugly ain't it!!
good morning!
any clue on sa6/18 and sa7/28 please
just starting out, davetins....
need 5 more so any help needed/
Does anyone out there have a clue for Na 7/28? I wonder where they find these words!!!!
davetins - I cannot find any definition for the two Sa words you are looking for. The second one is the plural of the first. There is a 1959 famous movie from India and the title is of a man's name. The Sa is his last name. There is also a gallery of fine woodturning in Bethesda Maryland named Sa-----. I know this probably doesn't help but I cannot even think of a rhyming clue.
thanks dalmatian, I'm searching for your na7/28 too
davetins - na7/28 means dressed more smartly than someone else!
Hi everyone!
Thanks Hydra. Found the Na and that does it for me! Everyone have a great night - day - or whatever time zone you are in!
Good morning everyone. Almost 6am and dawn just starting to glint through the trees. The week of the time change is always a hard one. Wish they'd stop with this foolishness already. Speaking of wolves, has everyone read the wonderful old book by Farley Mowat - Never Cry Wolf? Beautiful, funny and sad. Was made into a movie, but the book is much better. 68 words and stuck - maybeif I stand on my head for a new perspective?
TY hrdra, it was driving me mad. Also got the sa6 and 7 ty dalmatian
Is the s7 related to the s6? Got the 6 but can't find the 7. Probably stariing me right in the face
plural eva
start with top s eva
Okay, I see the problem. I have sh6, not sa6. Will look for it now.
Thanks dalmatian. Googled the gallery and found the sa6 & 7
need last one sa5?10 , next to indian garment any help please
Do you have the shiny fabric?
Any clues please for the ae7/28 and there9/24 thanks
yes, it's before that eve
Caitlyn for the ae7 combine the prefix for flying with the past tense of what you do in a chair.
caitlyn it's your ae4/4 plus what you did in a chair
Must be missing it too. Haven't gone for the 2nd letter lists yet.
caitlyn add your at6/18
and your at7/28
The second letter list seems to be missing the ae4/4
It's on mine eva, think flying
Mea maxima culpa Brandyjack! Of course the error was mine. I chopped it off when copying.
Thanks all of you got them both now xxx
hey everyone!! just wondering.. how come "santa" doesn't count?! sighh.. it is enough to shatter a little kid's heart.
no raita?
I think arsole should be allowed for alternate spelling amusement value
hahaha. arsole. ;D
Morning. A small one. Phew ................
Morning all. Atalante - LOL. I saw that word, too, but as 'assole'! Renee.fuzz - Shame about 'Santa' but we did have 'Magi' and 'manger' yesterday. Almost got tinsel today, but not quite.
(Maybe we'll get 'presents' and 'turkey' and 'reindeer' on Christmas Day? Mind you, I have been told in no uncertain terms that I'm NOT to play on 25th December.:-/
I won't be given a chance to get anywhere near PC on Xmas day. Kids want new games!
Morning everyone....housework done....now for the seriously fun part of the day
How come I can never get the re words.
Just been reading back through the log and had to smile at Mamabear's comment when the grid first came up. 'Was there a sale on 'T's???' she asked. :-)))
Hi guys! How is everyone this fine morning? :)
Hi Lola. Long time no see! I've been mentally gardening. No, not gardening in a mad way - 'thinking' about gardening. Might get out and do some for real if the weather holds. How're you?
77 words and just beginning to struggle
Hi guys
Hi Yoink!
Hi jacs! I was away for the weekend :) lol, that's the only kind of gardening I do!
Hi yoink :)
Hi Jacula, Lola :) Lots of t's today I see.
Did you go anywhere exciting, Lola?
any clues for sh5/14 and sh6/21?
jacs, I just went to visit a friend, no exotic destination this time I'm afraid :)
A clue for the z word please?
za6/33- more crazy?
Zubie, za6 meaning more wacky
sh6/21- add your an4/4 meaning against.
Thanks lola. Great clue!
mica - sh6, plural. sh7 - think shack, sh....town, slum
any hints on the sh5/14? thanks!
For the sh5, think of a term for sunglasses and miss off the e
I mean, sh5 - plural and sh6. zeeesh!
thanks broll i got it :D
*lola slides cup of coffee over to broll* lol!
thx lola, I need that!
doh! thanks, yoink, was climbin' in the wrong direction . . .
Time to pick up small person, be back later :)
Bye Lola :)
TTFN, Lola.
I've gotta go too for now. Bye
Bye Yoink.
Can anyone please give a clue for sa6/18 thanks
gmornin all!
morning all
guess everybody left morning evandine
this usually is one of the slower times...heh
i'm here! heheh. ;D even though i should be doing my homework....
sa6/18 (plural is the sa7) can be found as the surname of a character in a 1959 film by Ray, part of the Apu Trilogy. If that doesn't help, try thinking Latin 'without' endless Indian garment.
Someone's setting off fireworks outside. Now, I ask you, what is the point in daylight??
Thanks Jacula
jacula, Latin 'without' endless Indian garment? is it the latin word or is it the indian garment?! *confuse*
I think the "without" is more French, and you don't need the whole Indian garment!
Sorry, I'm used to doing cryptic crosswords. Maybe my clue was a little too cryptic? Google the film instead.
I got it from your Latin clue, Jacula :)
Cheers, Atalante.:-)
45 words to go and starting to noodle... perhaps its time for a breakfast break. :)
Morning everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend!
Morning Jen. Hi Evanadine (don't think I said that yet). I've just finished. Off to get some lunch and then do a little gardening. Will be around on and off if anyone wants any clues.
77 words and my brain seems to be asleep.
any hints on my missing H? ive got both words for body parts and ive got the ghostly one...
ha5/12 - confederation or league - think of the Ha-eatic League in medieval Germany (if I've got my history right)
whats the ghostly HA?
thanks Vicuna!
mica -- its what ghosts/spirits do
My pleasure, Evanadine. Can anyone tell me whether the ae7 builds off the ae4?
there is no u so I cant understand what spirits do either apart from make you drunk that is
cant help ya -- i dont have any of the larger words yet...
there are alternate spellings. ;)
vicuna....yes it does
Thanks, tbear. Now I just have to find it!
Vicuna - The ae7 does build off the ae4. The word is an acronym and best described by saying ae4 plus past tense of what you do on/in a chair.
sorry...hi everyone... jacula luv the pic
Thanks, Jacula. I was starting with the wrong a, of course...
any clue for an 7/28 and na 7/28? im still lost with the sa 7/28 *sigh*
na7/28 - spiffier, especially relating to clothes
Thanks tbear - it's the look one of my cats gives me when she wants feeding.:-) an7 is plural of an6.
sa7 is plural of sa6 above it.
sa7/28 - pl of a word that starts like French for "without" and ends like what a pirate says
Oh! Don't mention pirates. Now I'm thinking of Johnny Depp. *Sigh* Time to cool off in the garden, methinks. TTFN.
any hint on the An6 for those of us who dont have it? hehe
Add the pirate word to the an4/4 above it.
thanks jacula!
(It's actually a Javan poison.)
Okay. I'm really going now... Byeee!
if anyone wants to toss in a clue for the 8 and 9, i wont object. ;)
RE8... to accomplish again
EvaN... just looked that one up myself. Put a re in front of your at6 and at7.
heh, didnt have the At6/7 yet, but i have all 4 now! thanks!
bah i give up on the sa word because i tried just about every combination zzz babble overload
mica -- kinda sounds like another word for when you really truly mean something...and many people also sign letters this way...
micamonkey...sa/6 thinks russian royalty but s instead of t
and sa7 plural
There is a sn5/12 which is completely silly...sounds like a kids word....s from the top
Good morning!
Smeltzdog you're a hotdog!
argh so much stress on one word lol im sorry im denser than a rock today think i better take a break but thanks all so much
i tried the french word + the greeting... but.. erm no
micamonkey did you see my message?
yeah i did *sigh* heheh but i thank u for trying to make this dense piece of rock see some light :P
FWAH! i got it! LOL!
tbear - what time is it on your side of the pond
14.21
Thanks inga8227 for the re8 clue, it took a while to follow the tiles in the right order but I got there in the end!
Congratulations, mica!
thanks tbear!!!!! *big kiss on your cutie grover lips*

hi joelgee! can i safely assume that ae7 contains ae4, or not?
(question not directed at sleepy joelgee but at all)
LOL! Be good now tbear :) How was your weekend then?
yes, you can hurshy
got down to 51 and think i'm gunna break the habit of a lifetime and look at the lists...dadada da daaaaaa
thanks pinecone! tbear, you never looked at lists? wow.
I need another clue for the na / 7 Spiffier? This one I'm missing in a biggier way.
*lola thinks about throwing bucket of cold water over joel to wake him up*
8 Ses and 1 R to go!
MY weekend was bloody awful but went out and cut down a tree today, which helped direct my frustrations (read...teenagers....shhhh) and HOW was YOUR weekend, sweetheart????
na7 - you ever see the kids' movie "the tale of ______ gann"? it's like that, only comparative.
Pinecone, for the na 7 think of an insect beginning gn. Take off the g then add the ti 4/4. It's a comparative adjective.
sorry it was the JOURNEY, not the tale
Hurshy if you looked at where I am in the rankings you wouldn't say WOW.....hahahahaha
*lola should really think A LOT about the cold water throwing thing*
:) :) tbear! it's just that you're on so much i assumed...
It was lovely thanks tbear :) Sorry I didn't get to meet you...next time?
hursh-- no ae words yet.
Lola that was sneaky.....hold you to that...keep threatening Joelgee with that iced water until he changes that icon of his.....
Hi tbear, were are good thanks. You Hi lola how are you? good weekend?
*lola refills joel's coffee cup and flashes him a friendly smile while emptying bucket of water*
i know, joelgee, i know. saphyre has coffee.
Bubbles,I'm ok but Lola's great
Thank you Haz1558...I got it!
tbear-- what's wrong with my icon?
Clue for the as please?
Good, pinecone, glad to be of help.
It's too serene
I like Joelgee's icon.
okay. HAve the ae4. Can't see connection to other ae yet--if there is one.
joelgee, pull up a chair and youll get it!
65 words and finished the an's. back later!
ae word think of what you do in a chair....that was the clue that did it for me
I had a great weekend thanks bubbles :)
any particular reason why?
joelgee what actual position are you in right now (I imagine) and past tense it
care to expand on that?
Bubbles put it this way....I might have to find a buddy to make up the numbers in January when you and Bobsta come down....!!!
Help!

well - mama - she's in there but she hasn't filled it yet!
Bye tbear. Thanks though.
evanadine - you are done already??? how impressive!!!
Zubie, the one as 5/10. Another name for a donkey, followed by two vowels - as in artificial insemination.
Thanks Haz! Got it! :)
Thanks Haz! :)
Good!
mama - it seems to be an easier board than yesterday!
morning, babbs..i only have 60 and ready to give up..ack, ACK..bedspreads and blankets in dryer..scooped all leaves out of pool (i lie, some)..have to go to library and to pharmacist..when will I find time?!!!!! (bitchin)
anyone have the z?
I have to depart temporarily as well. See you all later.
Robert - the z is a great word. Again a comparative adjective meaning that someone is more quirky than someone else.
got it, thaks haz
Hi liana :) lol, I ask that question every morning but I still seem to babble!
scary , isnt it Lola..i just do those i know, monkey a few..and look at the hints..what I dont do is FINISH.
liana, I think the main thing is to have fun. It's great to finish the puzzle but you can still have fun finding words and chatting :)
smeltzie - i was silly last nite and came back on at about 10 minutes before the puzzle closed and started on this one.... so tired today!!!!! how you?
I agree, Lola.. :)
ZZZZzzzzzz . . .
Hi Torgone! I'm stuck on 90! This is what comes of missing ten babble days! Brain goes into babble sleep!
torg!! Wake up~~~ (smacks with wet stonefish)
Hi torgone! :) Is it early in your part of the world or are we boring you??
shoot, ..i didnt even realize i had gotten the 8 and 9 letter words...what an incentive~
I was also up for the start of this one last night .. Kind of tired . . . .
*lola hands torgone a large mug of hot coffee*
Clue for the other le 6 please? I have the attains knowledge one.

Don't post words in the log . . . .jk
Sorry, torgone. Didn't see that. :/
torgone, is that Groucho in your icon?..Do you commune with the dead?..lol (i loved groucho)
It is indeed, my little shrinking violet ..
LOL! ..the only thing that is shrinking on me ..is my arse. *say the secret word*
I should have smacked you ..with a duck. (grin)

I hope i can find some words to day unlike most days lol
A clue please?
ahhh... just typed out what i have so far of my girls dance routines... now i have a legible copy for myself of what ive made up, plus i can print copies + give it to them to take home and practice so they have no excuses for forgetting! :D
eva..now you have time to finish my laundry for me..hahaha
zubie, sorry, don't have that one yet :/
how many words plse, stuck on 63 cant find anymore, must be that monday feeling!
WOOT 29 points i got like a 11 point word
clue then edith!
bejay- 122 words today :) Ed- woo! Pace yourself now, lol!
Jez how do u find 63 words omg i find like 4 a day lol
zubie - the other le6 is the old-fashioned past tense of the one you already have. btw, the reason tbear didn't know about the as5 being the only word earlier (and scaring you into thinking there might be more) is because tbear wasn't using the lists!
Not likely. I haven't finished a puzzle in well over a week. Baby has been rather high maintenance lately. She's cutting a tooth and just got over a cold. That and I'm not really all that good at this. I use A2Z way too much.
Thanks hurshy, I always forget that one! :)
yw lola - i only get those bc i read mostly old books!
122! have a job finding 2 today,
i keep wanting to look for arabic type words ..i guess cause of the dbl ss's and the H..i dunno. Freaking me out..
Um, I'm probably going to need the fish for this one but I cannot see my last er4. I have the god of love and the times, help please?
tbear is wonderful - to be able to not use the lists! :) Thanks for the clue, hurshy
er4 birds
I happen to have that one lola...to er.. a living ..with out the a..also a sound alike to a U word..
Now the na7. Any clues here? :)
you might keep ashes in the sound alike word.
Why am i not ranked yet last rank is like 18 points and right now i got more then that?
zubie - do you know the movie "the journey of ______ gann" make it a comparative
have you played 3 games this month?..
Thanks hurshy, monkeyed everything BUT that :)
I havent finished like a puzzle yet but i have played 3 i belive.
Haha! Absolutely great clue, hurshy! Thanks! :)
liana -- just did my own laundry yesterday...hehe
yw zubie - i was rather proud of that one. :)
Ed - Stats are updated after the puzzle closes. If this is only your third game, your rank will show up after this one closes.
eva..i did my reg laundry..am now doing FALL laundry..ack. curtains etc stuff from summer, and spring use. I HATE HOUSEWORK...
zubie - or anyone - have you got the other na's? i've got one of the fours - the plural of little ms. bobbsey.
It was great, hurshy! I think I'll log on for clues when you're around! ;D
oh, duh, nevermind and pass the fish!
wow..i dont know that movie..although, i am not a movie aficiando..so, cant compare..comparitivly..lol
got 3 na,s sounds like what we call my mothers mother
hey all any clues for the 9-letter word? thankx!
Morning Babalons, how many words today?
lianakate - there was an earlier clue for that one, if you know your slang better than you know your movies. if something is nice, you can say it is na***. make that into a comparative.
okay..am feeling muy guilty with so much to do around house..I hate cleaning so much..i do it all the time..BUT, i fell behind when in hospital..and a week after that!
i hate housework too...its why i usually just dont do it...haha
Hurshy- the other na's are what some call their grandmas! One is the plural of that :)
aha..hurshy..i had that one..ty so much..:)
Well i now have 67 points so till next time my friends.
i was zipping along so nicely until i got to these re's!
Happy B-day to meee!!!!! Good morning all... Hope you're all doing fine on this lovely day... let's get down to business. How many words today please.

The first ta4/4? At least I think it's the first. I have the one that rhymes with rein.
ta 4/4 if you're not early you're ____, rearrange.
okie dokey hursh
can anyone help me with sa 6/18?
don't answer all at once, now. :)
hurshy...would if I could
yeah, I could make something up, but I don't think it'd be helpful.
hurshy- french for without (four letters) and the stuff we breathe less the middle letter :)
yes, it has become clear that nobody here has it yet. :) oh well. i'll just keep monkeying.
sa6/18....1st part of stuff kids play in...2nd part is first part of a fish in a can
Hi scouts, how're you doing? :)
good morning everyone..... bummed that "santa" doesn't work..... hohoho
ooh, i motivated people to find it! :)
good morning all
Hi lola--and everyone. Doing well but still trying to get over my weekend.
Hi christa and e_gurl :)
good morning, all
hello lola
We need an "h." So close to my name for the ex.
sa6/18 is all in columns 2 and 3
sa6/18 - google: "Icy wind of deathâ€; a northwest wind of Iran
yup yup yup, i got it. now i just need one more sa 5/10 and i'll be done with the sa's.
za6? Really? Any hints?
scouts, lol! Mine too!
za6...crazier
Wow, thanks Ouwachita

Happy Birthday tban7898... what kind of cake do you like and how many candles should I put on it for you??????

lola - think slinky material
ALL done! a new record for speed! thanks for the clues, folkses.
Hi atalante! Got that thanks, just missed it at the bottom of the list! Thanks hurshy, you saved me some monkey typing there! :)
so - clue requests?
Woo! Well done hurshy! :)
(takes a bow)
Morning all! really ra4/4-y here. Congrats hurshy Happy Birthday tban! Been reading the log, good clues everybody!
hey smaller! how are you?
Hi smaller :)
hey - i just realized it's the first time in 3 days we got a puzzle with no bad words! (unless some of the words i don't recognize are bad, and i just don't know it)
Hi Lola, Hi Hurshy, I'm huddled by my space heater at my desk and cuddled to my coffee cup, how are you all?!
mmmm.... space heater.
down to my last three. any help?? as 5/10 in 6/18 re 5/10 (the first one) thanks!
clue for an 6/28 please
as 5/10 sounds like a paper you write for school
in 6/18 is part of your shoe
in 6/18 the part of your shoe that your foot actually is sitting on
re 5/10 take a sailing race and remove two consonants
hi Shorty! thanks sign thanks hurshy
hi smaller!
an 6/18 and 7/28 against arkansas, and plural
Have to go make dinner now, see you all later :)
bye lola
bye lola
hursh - i got the I & R... but i'm still stumped on the A... I have an AN that sounds like the paper... I think. I'm not sure what I'm missing.
ooohhh wait a sec...
against arkansas?
bye lola! Hurshy - against arkansas? lol, you are so creative! Weird how it worked
got it.
like, if it's not a multiple choice question, it's an ____ sounds like that.
shorty, think state abbreviation
congrats smeltz!!! and, smaller, well, i had to come up with something!
...refresh...
lol smeltz
cute!
AND DONE! this is definitely the fastest finishing time I've had. off to work - i'll come back later to help!
yeah, this was easier than the last couple
you get that an, shorty?
forget it im still asleep ill try it later
shorty, what time zone are you in?
est but i laid back down after i took small one to school just got up LOL
any clue on the ae7? plz
oh no, only 122 words, but 22 of them begin with A - I hate the vowels!! afternoon all...how is everyone? :)
:) well, this reminds me of a friends anecdote with which i can entertain everyone. (ae 7 is ae 4 plus past tense of sit)
hi sherb! so agree about the vowel aversion
so, monica and chandler are secretly dating, and they're making out in the middle of the night in joey and chandler's apartment. hi sherb!
thanks hurshy
and joey wakes up to go to the bathroom. so to explain monica's presence, they tell him it's 9 AM. and he says, but it's still dark out! (because it's actually like 3 or 4 am). and they tell him, "that's because you usually sleep til noon, silly! this is what 9 looks like!"
hi smaller :) hi hurshy :) oh good, I joined just in time for the jokes :)
lol
Hi everyone :)
Thanks for the AE clue hursy. I needed it too.
hi sherb hi miy
so then joey says, "oh. well, guess i'll brush my teeth then. maybe i'll catch that sunrise!"
hi miya!
Nice icon, Smaller
yw all. hi miya!
Hey Hurshy :) How are you?
good. you?
lol...hi Miyavi, shorty, Minski...and anyone else I missed :)
thanks miya, very cold here, but I think I'll change it for something more upbeat, seems rather dreary
Keep up, Sherb! :)
Hey all! Just checking in since they are only letting me work a half shift later today..
and THEN after a minute they see joey slouched on the toilet, asleep, snoring, with his toothbrush in his mouth.
hello GW!
ok, it's back to a2z for me today...I don't have time for all day noodling...
oh, you can do it sherb. it really isn't so hard today.
Congrats on finishing hurshy -- just read the log :)
Hi Woulf :) You want to try having GCSE music after school...*shudders*
thanks GW.
hi gw
oops, gotta go lunch. i'll probably pop back in at various times today for clue giving purposes.
Greetings Miy, GW, Sherb.
good luck all!
hi GW :) just looking for the z word, I came across the word 'zanana' - that would make a good joke, lol
Hi ruff! Miy - I am sorry to say I do not recognise the term
Hey Minski :) How are you today?
Hi Minski! sherb - if you are more crazy you are ZA****
Woulf, just sadistic teachers making "gifted" (hah) students stay behind after school to take a GCSE a year early
*REFRESH* gobble gobble how cute is he, huh?!
Hehehe...personally, Smaller, I find mine very cute too...*cheesy grin*
Really, miya? Golly, you're so quiet about your zealotness so I would have NEVER known. since you're so shy about that n all. lol
is zealotness a word?
it is now! :D
isn't the word zealocity?
*glares* Smaller, I am choosing to ignore that. *refreshes* But still...
thanks GW!!! no ScoutsMom, I doubt it's a word I like to think of words as a start and build on them, if it works as a noun on it's own, why not make it nounier, see, works like a charm
oops "its" not "it's" how unbabbley of me
i am just entertaining the daylights out of myself right now
Smaller, you're like my friends and I on msn. Any typo immediately becomes a new word. Thanks to this, noi, snadwiches and slepe are now words
The way I look at it, every word had to come from somewhere -- one of the best examples is "tintinabulation" in Poe's 'The Bells'
as they should be miya, i know exactly what they mean good job
You may be right, Woulf...Tolkien as well. Though personally I think "eleventy" is an invented word too far
Thank you, Smaller! The two of us campaigning against that ignorant belief that words must make sense
Miy - eleventy is the venue of children, having used it myself when I was young, adults just stole it
GW and Miya, ...and I really don't think it's that much of a stretch to put us in the same category as Poe and Tolkien, bet they would have played babble
*sighs* unoriginal adults stealing from children again... *suddenly remembers that everyone else is an adult* Uh...I didn't mean that the way it came out...
Especially Tolkien! (Hmmmm.... I wonder if someone will now try to create a Sindarin Babble board?)
You're right Smaller...though maybe they'd be a bit put off by how suggestive the chat gets at times. Particularly when Torgone and Lotti are in, I've noticed...
made the mistake of starting Babble on an empty stomach...nothing to eat since a croissant for breakfast 9 hours ago...off to make supper...
Miy - be careful there.... I have found out the hard way that some of the most restrained appearing personalities are actually quite rowdy behind the scenes ;)
oh please miya, cranky geezers are into that sort of thing, ....oh but wait, I like it too. crap, what does that make me
Hi Babblers! Just in for my daily fix.
smaller - it makes you human
welcome dbg, we're pontificatingly babbling
DBG -Welcome!
Hey DirtBikeGirl :)
thanks GW, they need to start chatting so I can be humanier
hmmm. quite curious. it appears that "nntttnt is not a word. ...:)
Hehehe...and what would "the hard way" entail, Woulf? Or is it one of those things one of my (ahem) tender years should not know? :D
Besides, if you are a cranky old geezer, then what would that make ME?!
good morning everyone -- Wish I'd studied Latin or Greek instead of French!
boreetos, it is a word. you're just ahead of your time, tolkien and poe would be proud
:). thanks smaller.
Hi Miy, and all, just passing through, nightmare day at work and will be burning the midnight oils for some time to come.
GW- darn near perfect! awwwwww
Miy - nothing so exciting there -- I have met a couple of SF authors who come across in their writing as very straitlaced and when you talk to them face-to-face they break the ice with a dirty joke! A disconcerting experience the first time or two that it happens :D
cybernan...if you studied french, you know latin well enough to babble, non? it's all relative.
Hey FMitch :) Nightmare day at work? At least adults appear to be civilised enough not to shove you into lockers and shout names at you. At least I hope so.
any easy clue on the as5/10...plz
thanks, smaller (*blush*)
miyavi--they do. it's just metaphorical bullying instead of literal.
Miy ~ Adults can be just as bullyish as kids they are just more subtle and mean about it. That said, I still wouldn't go back to highschool for any amount of money.
I'm stuck on the second na4/4. anybody have a clue?
Who said that adults behave any better - sorry to disillusion you.
as5/10Any of several feather-leaved South American palms, especially Euterpe edulis and E. oleracea, that are important sources of heart of palm. or sounds like another name for a test
Does anyone have the NA7/28? Help please
no n's yet, ruff
2nd na4/4 is the plural of a shortened woman's name
miski...na7.... think...more tangled
minski: it means "more dapper."
Woulf, these authors sound disconceringly like some of my friends at school :D Everyone else...great, my comforting illusions are now shattered.
SHATTERED I SAY!
thanks minski. that's my last word. I'm done. I'll be back later to offer hints.
Thanks Scoutsmom. Got it.
Sorry Miy - apoloiges, forget sometimes how young you are.
THanks O too.
Miyavi, I'm sure it's not the first time and it won't be the last. Yep! It's like junior high lasts your entire life.
Miy - don't worry, we are here with the glue so you can reassemble your illusions into better and more interesting configurations
Gotta go, won't be babbling for a while now unless v lucky. Good luck all.
Good luck, FMitch!
I could use a push with the an6/18 and an 7/28. Purty please.
FMitch, I'm not sure whether I should take that as a compliment or not :)
Miy - ALWAYS take such statements as compliments!
Woah...and goodbye as well, if I can get my priorities right. Woulf, don't worry, I have plenty of naive illusions to be getting on with... Scoutsmom, I wonder why your words don't inspire much confidence...
Hi All! I'm sneak babbling at work...shhhhh!!!!! How is everybody?
hi mamabear!
an/ + another name for a beauty queens crown (minus the vowel on the end)
Besides, if it isn't meant as a compliment and you respond as if it is -- it really annoys the person trying to take you down ;D
hi mama...bye mama. I'll be back later. It's a quick one today.
Woulf, you are the wise all-knowing one (another illusion I refuse to drop) so I'll take your word for it. Uh, by the way...junior high. What? Don't think we have that on the other side of the pond
hi boreetos!! You always make me want mexican food.....
HI MAMA (oops...i mean, hi mama)
me too, mamabear, me too...
bye ruff!
Hey Mama :) How are you today?
Take it as a compliment, it was not meant badly Miy. Just on a real downer today and should not be talking it out on others. On that note I will say adieu.
Hi Miyavi!!! A tad tired, and wish I wasn't at work but other than that.... ok I guess...
FMitch, you are not leaving until we cheer you up. Who has feathers?!
Farewell, FMitch Hopefully, things will brighten up soon In the meantime, if you can't vent with your friends, who can you vent with?
Thanks...got the an's. Miy, Junior high is a period of education between elementary and secondary. Typically populated by twelve and thirteen-year-olds who have no idea who they are or what they're about; they're all in the 'awkward' stage and most of them are miserable. It does get better, though...didn't mean to be so dismal.
anyone ave sa7?
Mama, I know the feeling...just when I thought school was over (maths last lesson, yum) I remembered it was Monday, so I had to stay back another one and a half hours. Urgh...
mama - at least you get to work-- my hours at Lenscrafters have been cut to a 4 hr shift today :(
plural of sa6
Hmm...so which years (grades?) are junior high? Here we just have primary and secondary
I need help with the 1st RE5/10 please.
Good clue on the na, scoutsmom!
for me, junior high was grades 6 - 8
Well, it varies by school system but it's basically thus: elementary is kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, junior high (or middle school, for some) is sixth (sometimes), seventh, and eighth grades, and high school (or secondary) is ninth through twelfth. usually.
as 5/10, anyone?
Miyavi, school is California goes like this: Kindergarten 1st-6th grade: Elementary 7th-8th grade: Junior High/Middle School 9th-12th grade: High School
So I'm in high school then...gotcha. Thanks!
it even varies within my state... in my county, elementary was K-6, but my friend teaches 6th in another county and its part of the middle school... too confusing! and then ive also heard of a few rare systems that include 9th as part of junior high! *uggles*
Miy ~ If you are 13 you are probably in 8th grade or maybe 9th
cybernan, Any of several feather-leaved South American palms, especially Euterpe edulis and E. oleracea, that are important sources of heart of palm. or sounds like another name for test
time to feed small one lunch. will be back in a couple of hours as will probably have to hose down the kitchen when she's through. TTFN.
Thanks Minski :) I have American friends but they just find it amusing that I don't understand. So I'll throw that in their faces tonight :D
Tah tah, Minski
See you Minski :)
aaah. Is there any bad day a reese's peanut butter cup can't brighten?
ScoutsMom -- the white chocolate ones work extra-well! ;)
*silently confused* Reece's peanut butter cup? Probably best to say nothing...
ScoutsMom - Thank Goodness for left over halloween candy - I "overbought" Reese's PB cups for a reason!
I had one once, ScoutsMom But then I had another cup and it was all better :)
miy, in exchange you'll have to enlighten me on being a teenager one of these days. My boyfriend has a 13 YO son whom I'm frightened to meet.
miyavi -- google it... its candy. a chocolate cup filled with creamy peanut butter!
Lupe--did you try those reese's peanut butter pumpkins? they're as good as the easter eggs. I don't know how they change the formula, but the peanut butter is even better then.
Morning y'all. got a clue for the other at7? what about the first re5?
Being a teenager these days...hm...got a spare ten days? The best advice is to probably smile and nod. And don't use words like "cool" and "wicked", that's his job :) Also you may need a text-speak dictionary. God knows I do
Hi all, trying to get my babble fix in before I leave for my trip!!!
ScoutsMom - Really??? I missed that - I will have to go check - I may even get them at a discount!! Thanks! I feel guilty already!
Hello Schroeder!
Hey Schroeder! Where ya goin?
Eva, thanks. *hangs head* Why does it never pay to be English? Right now I'm very jealous of anyone American, French or German.
miya - send me your address - I will ship you some. julianmom212@yahoo.com
Hi GW your looking good today- I have a dance job at Disneyland no babbling for 1 week. What will I do :(
I was going to say the same thing - I can send some too. jklutz1033@aol.com
OK - I'm jealous of Schroeder! I love Disneyland!
Don't worry, I'll get one of the ~American division~ friends to send some. Or at least eat some through webcam :)
Miy - no fair, I was gonna offer, but my daughter distracted me :D - anyway my email is in my bio woulf1@juno.com
It's no problem - keep my e-mail address if you change your mind.
Thanks everyone :D Sorry, is it just me or is it bad taste to close a memorial museum two years after the person died?
Schroeder -- Great gig!! - somehow I think you will manage to survive :) -- but we want pictures!
The rate I'm going, I won't get to a major theme park for another 15 years or so :(
What did I miss? We are all going to Disney World????
Lupe I do to!! This is when all my years of dance pays off, free trip!!! GW - I'll be sure someone takes pictures
No MAMA, Schroeder has a dance gig at Disneyland
They're advertising BIG CUP Reeses where I live! Same thing, just twice the size. Can't wait!
2 more then done! Pls help... sa5 - savior sa5 - things kids play in sa5 - things that Indian women wear sa5 - fabric sa5 ???!?!?!??!??!?! (help'd be great!) thanks!
How fun!!! I like to dance!!!! Can I go too????? GW - you done with the grid today?
hi everyone! good to see you all...
sa5/10 sa + flower - last vowel
Hi Temple Oh mamabear I love to dance with you, hop a plane and come on down
thanks smaller! finally got that one.. 1 more... the first re5?
DBG - I've had one already -- the chocolate overpowers the filling, in my opinion -- the shell had to be made thicker at the top to maintain structural integrity
I love to dance but my dancing, er, scares some people.
MAMA - not yet - 21 to go
walnutchen - thanks for asking - we seem to be missing the same ones!
Good day, all. A little babbling, a little work, a little computer nonsense, and oh, by the way, finito with a capital FIN. Let's hear it for me!!!
I am multi-tasking here. reading a few messages and stealing clues in between work!!! And NOW I want mexican food AND peanut butter pumpkins!!!!!!
YEAH JOELGEE.... Oh and btw, you made me laugh so hard yesterday - you were hilarious! Thankx *wink*
woohoo joelgee! so give us a clue about the first re5/10 cuz I don't have it either
yay JOELGEE!
Hello Temple Owl and joelgee!!
hey all, i'm back! finished this morning so all ready to give any clues you wish.
Have a great time Schroeder! I've not been there in about 5 years..... Need to save some $$ to take my son again.
You're right, GW. Too much chocolate. I like them when the ratio leans the other direction.
oh, joelgee's done! yay for joelgee!!!
hey, hurshy!
Hey Temple, hey Joel :)
welcome back, hurshy Congrats to joelgee!
the gang's all here - yay!
hey temple!
first re5 for me and walnutchen, please?
re5 saling race minus two consonants
a lariat or lasso. When you have a passel of boats in parade, it's a re*****. Take out the first consonant and one of the double consonants and voila!
temple owl - ok you just totally reminded me of the last scene in the movie Grease "the gang's all here!" LOL
It's shown up before as an ri5
uh oh - not into sailing...: ( may i have a lateral clue? need last re5/10, also
*wipes eyes* Does anyone else have one of those songs that just makes you cry every time you hear it?
Oh man! Was sooooo looking forward to the big Reeses. But I agree, the PB is the whole point of eating them. P.S. Way to go Joelgee!!
well, it starts with re + 1st letter of alphabet... how can this be so hard?!?
MANY - Miya
Way to go joelgee!!!!
re5 re plus "****boy!" (said for a good sports play) only one consonant
We got owls. We got woulves. We got Miyavi fans. Life is good.
still don't get it.. don't sail either. last time we went to Hawaii, I spend the snorkeling trip at the back of the boat regurgitating my breakfast...
last re 5/10 pl last re 4/4 (drive a horse with the...)
Good clue hursy...
ty! i tried SO many times to make that word...
finally, hurshy - thanks.
...And proud, Joel
(bows)
great clues, all! thanx!
AND we have Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Joel. Lest we forget.
Yes Miy, for me right now it is the song 'Skin' by the country group, Rascal Flatts
alright... logging off soon - anyone needs any last minute clues? I should get some work done today...
Lupe, why do they have to do that?! Listening to a dir en grey song right now, Ain't Afraid to Die, and it's just got me in tears
joelgee - why are you a time bomb?
we got lupes. we got bears. we got schroeders. I've lost track.
earlier, someone thought the candle was too serene.
ah, but we need "serenity now!"
if you need cheering up, i'm going to a concert tonight even i can't believe i'm actually going to...The Knack!!! MMMMMY SHARONA!
Woulf, I've reached the point where just the lyrics of this song set me off. "I will never again give out these memories that...keep love away from me forever, so I lie in deep red comforting my pain"...*sobs*
where are they at, Owl?
Temple, you are immediately the envy of my older sister :)
temple, that's awesome.
GW just reminded me of a joke!
Wow Temple, I didn't know they still played
hit it, hurshy. i need it.
sa5: An inlet of the northeast Aegean Sea indenting northwest European Turkey north of Gallipoli.
miyavi - i cry all the time if the right song sets me off..and you can never know which ...
who has the peanut butter cups?
any clues on the le5/12 plzzzzzzz....my last one
GW they are at world cafe live - have you been? actually got free tickets...
Just been back to the beginning of the log -- some good clues back there!
ok, a kid goes to Harvard. he's the first generation of his family to go to college at all. and his father comes up to visit on parents' weekend, and he's supposed to meet his son in the library.
Congrats! Joelgee. Do you have a clue for the lo's?
Ouwachita you put your dog on it
so he asks someone, "where's the library at?"
Temple, it's usually Dir en Grey or X Japan that set me off, their lyrics are either sad or angry. It's just the lyrics..."the road we walked back then is gone, but I still walk along it anyway" (er...sung in Japanese) is enough to get me going now
duh........lol
le5/12 - what you walk a dog with
lo 5/10 - lo6/18?
the last le5: more than one le4
and the person says, (snooty voice) "this is harvard. we don't end our sentences with prepositions."
Miy - 'Skin' does it for me because the subjest is a young girl who contracts cancer and has to attend her graduation prom dance after chemo has destroyed her hair. The title comes from the fact that her boyfriend shaves his head so she doesn't feel out of place, but doesn't tell until he picks her up to go (*sniff* wipes teary eyes)
so the father says, "alright, where's the library at, jacka3?"
the le4 that's a salacious grin
* snorts water up nose* LOL
hurshy - I've heard that one, and like it -- but I hate to say that there's just as much "bad" grammar at Ivy Leagues as anywhere else!
LOL, hurshy
okay. Hate to finish and run, but must eat and do work. Anybody need anything quickly? I'll stop back later.
i know - i went to williams (not in the ivy league, but one of the top colleges in the country). we had bad grammar and very little snootiness, really.
hurshy - tee hee hee!!
*passes tissues to Woulf* Ain't Afraid to Die is about...death ("no!" cries a shocked world) but the way the lyrics are written is just so beautiful, I'm crying before I realize it
bye joelgee...
joel - lo 5/10?
hurshy - my sister & bro-in-law went to Williams...what year?
lo 5/10 lo plus past tense of faster-than-walk
i was class of '99 (but was there two extra years after that working for the college)
TY Hurshy
lo5: long-range navigational system in which position is determined by an analysis involving the time intervals between pulsed radio signals from two or more pairs of ground stations of known position. OR almost a Dr. Seuss character with the last consonant changed
yw cybernan
hurshy - you are quite a bit younger than they...beautiful campus from what I remember...I was only 14 when my sister graduated!
i need 2nd an/10 plus the an4 above it....
Temple - I never get to go to concerts - 1st bec I usually don't have anyone to go with, and B. I usually don't have anyone to watch the baby and lastly - I refuse to pay over 20 dollars for tickets (I better things to spend my money that last longer)
can someone give me a clue on the n i am missing? na4/4 na5/10 na4/4
Hurshy, I was going to respond more quickly, but I was busy choking on some leftover pizza and rapidly emailing that joke to my boyfriend, Mr. Ivy League.
an 4/4 not the question, the "an**" (boston accent)
the an4 sounds like answer in Brooklyn or Boston. the an5 is making it plural with a vowel
hurshy - are you still in MA? I went to Holy Cross (not far from Williams!)
efor, do you mean you have those or need those?
efor - for starters, think of the word for grandma...they all play off of that...
i'm in CT now, actually. 2 hours straight south of williamstown.
i have those. sorry! :o)
I have them all...anyone want something before I leave?
Anywhere near Darien? I used to be a nanny there...
you need na7, then, comes after those. "the journey of _____ gann", made comparative
My boyfriend grew up in Darien.
efor - thinkthere's a clue a screen back for the long one...
efor-- we now call that, "pulling a mamabear"
let's see, darien's over near cheshire, isn't it? that's where my parents grew up. i'm further west.
I'd go to the concerts of my favourite bands, but they refuse to come to England...*sulks* Which is why I'm so jealous of German, French and American people. Dir en Grey will be hitting you soon, but I'll have to carry on waiting...
GW - I agree with you on the price of tickets these days, it is insane. Fleetwood Mac tickets a few years ago were $250 each for the nose bleed section!
got it. thanks hurshy!
actually, the na7 refers to being more stylish or more dapper.
Schroeder, that's what it's like here, too. I tried to get Rolling Stones tix and they were over $300 apiece. FOr that much, they should be playing in my living room.
well, i know that and you know that, joelgee, but some people were having trouble with the slang.
okay. I'm outta here for now. Last requests?
Cold pint of Stella? Thanks.
some people don't know the movie, though. so far we haven't had anyone who couldn't get it from one or the other of those clues, though.
going
not sure about Cheshire...I know it's near Stamford & New Canaan...
going
bye joelgee!
Bye, Joel.
hey I dont know if any one is interested but if you go to this site it will tell you if there are sex offenders by you type in your add. it it will show you http://www.familywatchdog.us/
gone
oh, stamford and new canaan are further south, near the coast.
thanks, shorty.
ScoutsMom I remember paying $25 to see the Stones!!!
Heh, Shorty...I'd rather not know, I think! Besides, I already know my maths teacher is...*shudders*
of course "near" is a relative term. if you're from a big state, everything is near everything else in CT!
ScoutsMom - have you ever been to Darien? it's nice...not far from the water : )
I just got the info from daughter in law and if your like me you want to know
no you can actually see how close they are to you
But is that only for America? Since the URL said us at the end. And last time I looked, I'm uk. (won't stop hoping to wake up in japan, though)
I haven't been yet...not looking forward to the whole "meet the family" scene yet. Especially from what he's told me about it...sounds a bit out of my league.
"pulling a mamabear"???????? *sobbing hysterically that her new friends are talking about her behind her grid* LOL
mamabear - just look at it as an honor to have something named after you. i'm jealous!
Back again for a sec to say OMIGOD!! I went to http://www.familywatchdog.us/ and found out that not only is there a registered person in my apt. complex, but it's a guy I say hi to every so often. What do I do with this info? It's going to be tough to keep saying hi to each other and looking him in the face.
Mama, that's a compliment! Or at least I'd take it as a compliment. Then again, I said thank you when someone called me...hm, something bad today
oh yeah its probablt just for america sorry non americans
ScoutsMom -just use a few Babble words & leave 'em speechless! : )
Joel, do not invite him back for a drink. You will regret it.
Joel, I'm sorry. That's got to be awkward.
Don't worry, Shorty, I think it's only me representing non-Americans at the moment :)
Help, Please! - last word & just can't see it.. sa4/4: following the scarf worn around one's waist. I have the one meaning to talk back.
joelgee - well, some people do reform...
oymy gosh joel im sorry id just make sure he doesnt go around kids
sa4 chop last letter off following sa5
Joel - as long as he isn't a close friend - I wouldn't change anything about how you interact - just be a little more aware of who else he interacts with
cyber - sa4 - means "without".... i think it's french
See, Woulf? I said you were the wise, all-knowing one!
brb - baby just handed me a bk to read
I have the fr. without - it's one of the ones following the 2nd sa 4/5 that I'm trying to find.
Eastern, not worried about being smart enough; just worried about my small-town upbrining, Big 12-school education, and the fact that I'm a single mom with a ten-year-old car and dull job--not to mention that I'm 22 years younger than their Incredibly Successful Son.
cybernan clue at 12:56
Not chicken, necessarily; just not looking forward to it.
i cannot find the first two sa words....help please?
first sa5 - a holy person first sa4 chop last letter off sa5
Thanks again hurshy -- C'est tout!!!
Hello fellow Babblers... Hope everyone had a good weekend :)
ScoutsMom - small towns are a wonderful thing (I'm from one too)...and the fact that you are raising a son on your own is incredible...if they love him - and he loves you...the rest will sort out...(let us know before you go - we'll give you more of a pep talk!)
Hey Bugzy, how are you?
Yeah, but hurshy - you have whole BARS named after you!!!!! LOL (and I am jk - I DO consider it a compliment......*blush*)
congrats cybernan!!!!! hi bugzy!!
cybernan...remove the last letter from the final sa5/10
Going for a cuppa -- will provide any assistance I can on my return!
oh, mama, the bars aren't named after me, nor the kisses.
cybernan--i didn't get my pint of stella from Joelgee; could you bring me back a little something, please?
but my goal is to have it be "pulling a hurshy" to post a clue request and then immediately find the word.
Tired, as per usual on a Monday, Miyavi... but hoping the caffiene kicks in soon ... I like the pink hair today, BTW...
ScoutsMom -misread that last one...about the car...but being a single mom is still amazing...I don't have kids yet...but I'm amazed at how people do it on their own!
scoutsmom - if they don't like you, challenge them to a babble-off! then when you whomp them, they'll respect you more.
thanks, eastern. you're very kind.
Thanks :) It's a memorial picture, the guy in my icon has been dead for several years and they closed down his memorial museum in september...grrr...
* taps hurshy on shoulder* do you have clues for first two sa words?
ScoutsMom - we small-town "kids" have to stick together : )
yes, temple - posted 'em for you at 12:59
while it's true some people do reform, I think of that sort of a behaviour as an illness. It was just a shock to see the guy's mug. I just hied him the other day when I was walking the rent check over.
Joel, that's scary...but just be thankful you aren't a girl :)
Seems awfully soon to shut down a memorial museum if he died just recently... :(
yeah, i know that's true in a lot of cases, joelgee. but you have to hope he's an exception. and also, i hate to say this, but at least if the offense is against a girlfriend or a wife - well, you don't have to worry as much about them attacking strangers or kids.
scoutsmom- did you see my suggestion at 1:03?
mf-- not concerned for myself, but not all child sex offenders prefer the complementary gender.
hurshy--yes, I saw it! I just had to fax something to my boss really quickly. darn job. gets in the way of my babbling.
Well, it was several years ago now, but his death made a massive impact. Some more serious fans actually committed suicide when they heard, and over 500,000 people attented the funeral
Alrighty, time to start begging.... sn5/12? Anyone? Please?
I know. It was just a shock to see the guy's face pop up. That's all.
Sorry, Joel, I'm stereotyping
jobs are a pain that way, aren't they, scoutsmom? sn 5/12 sound two cars make when colliding, change 2nd letter
Thanks hurshy.. what the heck kind of a word is that?!
ty hurshy - have to go - notice the site is going a little weird...anyone else? double postings - and my laptop is making an ominous noise...
how many words today?
oops, gotta go teach my class!
mf-- we all take our universes for granted--until we see otherwise.
dunno bugzy!
okay. really going now.
Wow...profound :)
nice chatting today, hurshy. enjoy the class.
take care, hurshy! No problems here, Owl -- maybe your laptop is possessed See you later, maybe
temple - probably just your computer. try refresh. 122 words today.
bye!
If I knew, Bugzy, I'd try to help...but I, er, don't.
Bye Hurshy bye joelgee
Later Hurshy :)
AND Joelgee!
bye , joel
baby just climbed into lap with another book... Mommy is jealous
See you all later, I'm off to mourn Mr Hideto with friends :'( ...good luck
can anyone give me a hint on the z?
efor - wild, wacky, crazy...
Thanks, I give up on Heinz beans
Aw, GW. Miss my girl. Now I'm jealous of you, too!
hey joel i just seen ther is one on my st i missed it earlier i guess but it just right down the rd GREAT:(
efor, it means "crazier."
duh... ty easternblue!
bye, miyavi_fan. have a grand old day.
bye hurshy, another day another babble
sa6 and sa7 help please, please got all the other sa
scoutsmom how you doun babble today
bye Miyavi :)
egurl, i can't stare at that danged mckesson screen all day long, or i will go crazy and take you all with me.
Any clues for the an6 and an7? I've monkeyed all kinds of things beginning with the an4/4 and I'm not getting it...
GW I'm jealous also, my daughter is turning 14 in a couple of weeks.
Back again *as I plunk a pint in front of Scoutsmom*
LUNCHTIME!!! So for a half an hour I don't have to sneak-babble!!!!! This work stuff is such an annoyance... but I guess I should be happy I have a job. So I am......
bugzy, take the an4/4, then add a 2-letter suffix that sounds like what a pirate says. then plural.
thanks, cybernan!
an6 - an7: an + beauty queen's crown minus the final vowel, an 7 is the plural
GW - read the "jealous about your little girl" messages. I have to say I do sometimes miss those days, however, they are replaced by others - last weekend I helped my daughter write an Ethics paper!!!!
anyone at all know the sa6 and sa7?
Know the feeling mamabear, I'm trying to do payroll at the same time, can't remember if there is 122 words of if someone worked 122 hours....
smaller, do the same for the sa4/4 that's french for "without." add the same pirate-speak suffix.
smaller - all I have is sa 4's..... I'm way behind you people.
*smeltz is upset with mama for her exit last night*
Excuse me?
Thanks ScoutsMom and Cybernan... coulda sworn I tried that!! :)
sa 6: french without + vowel + consonant
I'm back again Thanks for all the feedback, folks Kristianna does love her books :D esp. Franklin and Clifford
Anytime anyone is feeling nostagic for those toddler days, just ask me to tell you about our 2 hours (!) at the Sears Portrait Studio this weekend with my 2 year old and 5 year old....
*still sniffling* well, I looked like a bafoon singing songs as I left and you mozied on out
The one thing I don't miss about the Christmases of yesteryear are the Santa photos!
ok - i'm better now.
good evening all...how is everyone. Is this a small but sensible grid or another sticky one..
You said I should go right, and I did!!!!! I am not bringing up the fact that I was talking to you this morning only to find it was the Mrs.!!!!!
Scout's never had her picture taken with santa. Not sure why, but it never seemed like a priority. but we're getting a "family" pic this year, just the two of us.
thanks cybernan and scouts mom!
Cath - a lot of small sticky words
umm...about that...I...umm...have no excuse *sniffle*
just the two of us.... we can make it if we Try-eye... just the two of us..... you and I....... (sorry - just felt a song was in order)
thanks cybernan- only got an hour or so - may not get far
the song was wonderful!
How's it going GW?
This wasn't Santa photos (my kids are both deathly afraid of the Santas and won't go near them) Just trying to get family photos... It was a nightmare!!
GW is reading a book to his daughter.... what a good Dad!!!!
well...I have to leave but I'll be back later. Who's keeping the jacuzzi warm tonight?1
So far we haven't had to deal with Santa photos Honestly, I never had a photo with Santa, so I will not pay for one, though I will let her sit in Santa's knee and ask for gifts when she is old enough to ask to do so
See ya later smeltdog
Doing well, Smeltz -- 4 to go!
bye smeltzie!!!!! It's Monday.... Monday's your nite, no?
Bye Smeltz!
I haven't really talked to her about santa yet, but i'm uncomfortable telling her that gifts appear from nowhere. I'd much rather she learn about generosity and thanks. Not sure how i'm going to do that just yet, but still...
Bye Smeltz
can someone give me a clue on the ae 7/28? And I double checked - I really DON"T have it yet!!!! LOL
It will be ready at 9:30. Bring 'em if you got 'em until then...
Being pagan, I have no problem using the magical elves explanation
9:30...... it's a date
MAMA - ae4 + past tense of what you do in a chair
Scoutsmom - The time will come all too quickly when she finds out on her own that Santa is just representative of the concept --- in the meantime, please let her enjoy her childhood illusions!
I used to work for the mall Santas, GW, and the pictures they try to sell you are a total ripoff!! And I'm with you Scouts... I feel pretty weird about lying to the boys about Santa... seems kind of bad to teach them to tell the truth, but then tell them that some guy sneaks into the house with presents...
Thanks GW. It never ceases to amaze me how people can find these monkey words!!!!
15 to go...
I had a GF once with a 3 yo who heard all about Santa at school and was upset bec her mom was Jewish We had a Yule tree anyway, and the look of wonder and amazement on her face when she got a gift from Santa is one I will NEVER forget!!
Scoutsmum - many years ago when our girls were small, we had one present from Santa, but the rest were clearly labelled from Mummy and Daddy. They didn't seem to get too confused.
MAMA - I cannot tell a lie, I got it from
HELP
OOps, wrong button I got the clue from reading tbears posts this morning from after I signed off Go back and look ---she got a bit silly in the wee hours :D
from??? Tell me GW... the suspense is killing me!!! LOL
Our parents always told us that Santa knows that Jewish kids get their big presents on Chanukah so he only gives us stocking stuffers. Made things easy for them. We never decorated for Christmas. We just helped our friends. I've never taken down Christmas decorations in my entire life and from the reports I am not missing anything.
its interesting that holidays kinda involve lies... easter bunny laying eggs... santa... doesn't the word originate from 'holy day'?? not much seems holy about lying! :)
Can't go wrong taking lights off the gutters in 3 feet of snow at 10 below zero.
Minski, I keep the decorations subtle myself. Less to have to store :)
Doesn't sound like there are many Christians in the group!
I choose to view the various iconic representation of the holidays, not as lies, but ideals given a physical form that youngsters can aspire to and take inspiration from -- It also makes it easier to explain why ther are so many of them everywhere ;D
Does that concern you, MAMA?
lol Tbug and dangus :) My neighbor was putting up his Xmas lights on Sat. 'cause it was warm out! I told him he can't turn them on til after Thanksgiving!!
Hear, hear! GW
Was making an observation. Everyone seems to be focusing on the materialistic aspects of Christmas.
got to step in on that one mammabear. I'm Southern Baptist through and through
I start decorating Dec. 1 --a little each day, with the tree going up the weekend before Christmas.
anything on the an 7/28 purty please?
I am a Christian, Mamabear, but I think that further illustrates my point that I'm not really willing to lie to my daughter and tell her that gifts appear from nowhere, by magic. I'd rather she learn, again, about generosity and being thoughtful. Seems a more Christian lesson for her to learn than "magic makes toys happen, but only if you're good."
I'm missing the 1st RE 5/10. Can someone please point me in the correct direction? Thanks.
I try to celebrate the Birth of Christ, nothing aganist the gift giving and decorating but I try to do it all in the name of Jesus Christ. and that doesn't make me any better or worse than anyone else. It is just how I was brought up we did not have gifts when I was a child
AN7/28 against and the british slang for butt minus the last letter
How old is your child, ScoutsMom?
agreed... not thinking Christ would go along with the lies surrounding it nowadays or the commercialism
She'll be 2 and a half by the time Christmas rolls around.
As I've grown older, MAMA, it has saddened me to see the materialistic side of the holiday (esp Xmas) become so overhyped. I remember when Santa didn't arrive in stores until after the Thanksgiving day parade.
minski - the re5/10 is a lasso, or an old Buick model
Mama, for the an7/28, look at my post at 1:20pm
gotta go for now...hope to be back later to finish? the grid!!
Enough of this serious stuff. Is Lola here? I think we need to open the bar.
Take care, Eastern
I personally think there is nothing wrong with some "commercialism" if it is kept to people sharing of themselves, their time and gifts to show love. However, the main focus is the birth of Christ. It doesn't have to be all of one and none of the other though.
THanks now 19 words left. Just Ss and Ts.
I agree - commercialism has latched on to that jolly we elf and blown gift giving all out of proportion. There are, however, lots of great stories for kids about Father Christmas and St. Nicholas out there on the net. One idea I like for stressing the 'giving of oneself' part, is the kids to make cupon books, as gifts, with cupons for small tasks they could complete on their own.
I heard that, Minski! I already had a Stella that Cybernan brought me, but so be it! I b'lieve I'll have another.
Well, I just got that pesky last word, so I'm raising a tall one here... *Cheers*
anyone have the ae7?
I agree with Minski.. who's pouring?
A little Christmas "Cheer" never hurt anyone.
HOW DO I GET A LIST?
Just read my last post -- good thing we're not being graded for typing skills or spelling here!

Dachef, don't worry, I only just got here too. Oooh, sorry, forgot I was in a huff with you for laughing when I tripped over the bin. *ignores*
Don't worry Dachef, we will tell you if we're out to get you :)
Hey Cath, how are you?
Hi Dachef... we were just opening up the bar, you're just in time!
Hi miy - how's is your head after its encounter with the glass door?
Hey, Anj! Haven't seen you on here for a while
Fine thanks Miyavi and you
bar? someone mention a bar? where?
I'm in mourning :( The guy in my icon, Hideto
So long for real now people.. Had to answer the phone -- apparently I am now late for work bec they added hours to the schedule w/o telling me (*hugs to all who want one*) TTFN
Dachef, I prefer to hold my head high and ignore that particular comment. *stalks off* Hahaha, no bin this time! *walks into tree*
Hey Miy, how are you? I've been pretty busy since last Wednesday so I had to give the Babbleverse a wide orbit until today.
are there 2 at7/28s? I have the one that adds s to at6/18...any help?
I think beer seems to be the drink of choice today... Scoutsmom has a Stella, I've got an Anchor Steam... What'll it be for you?
In mourning but still pretty good...brain is hurting after one and a half hours of GCSE music...sadistic teachers
redshoe - dunno bout two of them, but your post gave me one of them! Cheers! (hic!)
Yes, there are two. It's an alternative ending - one letter further in the alphabet.
90 mins of music hmm? What did they do to you??
haz-got it! ty!
ANJ....you're probably very tired after your busy long weekend,if you need any help honey, just shout......
You're welcome.
dachef-welcome and enjoy your brew
Ah, trying to teach us how to connect the MIDI leads for Sonar 2 to the keyboards. (does that make any sense?)
thanks, haz.
Hey Bear :) Still coming down ;) Miy, makes sense - interface cables. Didn't think that formed part of any syllabus tho' :/
so what does ae4 + what you do in a chair mean?
Found a word not even in their dictionnairy sn 5/18
I'm afraid I couldn't resist a little teasing earlier..... Might have even let Bob and Bub in on it....
sorry 5/12
Neither did I, until today...anyway, how are you?
And...I'm...DONE! Yippee!
Dangus - have you got the ae 4/4? If so, add the past tense of 'to sit'.
Hi guys! Is the bar open then?? :) Hey babe (((xxx)))
Haz - I got the word, just looking for a definition
Haz - thanks Ive been looking for that for ages. Lnew it was there somewhere from earlier grids, but couldnt quite put my finger on it. Congrats DBG!!!!!!! ;D
Hey Lola :)
Dangus - press the question mark beside the word in the list and it may give you a definition.
Yay DBG!! and Hi Lola :)
Bear, I would have been up to check your pulse if you hadn't. Be gentle though. :) Miy, i'm just great thanks. Have my folks with me at the moment so i'm playing the host. How about you, apart from Hideto and glass doors...and bins/trees etc? :)
What's that song again ' something in the air '?
Ooh, and congratulations, DBG :)
Congrats DBG :) Hey babe - how you doing?? (((xx)))
Hi Lola! And hi to Anj's mum and dad. You poor s*ds.....
Apart from that, I've got jealousy of all Japanese, French, German and American people at the moment. Yay.
Thanks everyone! I can usually only finish these small ones. Work precludes me from finishing the big ones...
Dachef, behave lol! They've taken over the place. Mum's even hijacked the Monday night's live game so she can watch Deadenders... :/
I'm good :) Have your folks sampled the amarula yet?
anj - then you'll be pleased to hear that so far the game's crap.
How many words today?
122 words today.
Not yet Lo, but they will ;) They have polished off the Angel Delight tho... Cheers Dachef, sounds like the lassic 0-0 draw then...
LOL! Thought they might :)
Miy ~ I wouldn't be so quick to envy the French these days. It's like the French Revolution all over again there. The poor are revolting and rioting and burning out cars and warehouses, etc. It's an ugly scene. There has been a travel bulletin posted by our government that Americans shouldn't travel to France until the unrest quiets down.
Minski, I blame it on Dir en Grey doing a tour there. France will never be the same...
Minski, they are being headlined as race riots over here. They firebombed somthing like 1300 cars in a car park last night :/
The chances are that whole swathes of France are completely unaffected. To see news coverage of Northern Ireland over the past thirty years would make you think it was a war zone. It was in some places but not everywhere by any means.
You are probably right about it being racially motivated. I was only paying 1/2 attention to the news last night. Reading a good Clive Cussler book and watching the news doesn't allow for much retention.
media sensationalism! dontcha just love it! two weeks ago we were all going to die of bird flu!!!!
Minski - Clive Cussler? which one?? I used to read them all but i've lost touch these last few years. I think Valhalla was the last one I read.
**laughing** I just heard a funny sound and went over to see what the baby was into. When she saw me coming she took off like a bat out of hell dragging a roll of scotch tape about 2 feet behind her. She had been playing with it and tried to hide the evidence but it stuck to her hand. She thought she got away scotch free, but was caught sticky handed instead. **still laughing**
minski, that's beautiful.
Black Wind. It's a Dirk Pitt novel that came out in 2004. Pretty new.
darn class! made me miss a whole discussion on christmas.
LOL Minski!
minski - sounds like something my cats would do.
hurshy: first of all, that was either a really short class or i've completely lost all concept of time. second of all, the discussion of christmas ended up with everyone drinking. so you didn't miss much.
OK. Back to Babble. I am missing 2 S words. SN 5/10 SN 5/12 Could someone please point me int he right direction?
Minski....lovely image.... Always remember mine sitting in the middle of the bedroom carpet, plastered head to foot in really expensive (treat yourself) face cream. I just couldn't be cross...
it was a 45 minute class, and you probably have lost your conception of time. :)
Could I have a Guiness please?
The two sn words are very similar. One is a type of growl, the other a type of trap.
minski, there are two sn5/10s. One is a tooth-baring thing a wolf or dog does; the other is a trap.
sn 5/10 catching something in a net the other I have it but is it a word...
sn 5/12 two cars colliding, change second letter
Cheers Minksi...i'm losing track with all this mix of Kurt Austen/Dirk Pitt malarky now. It's like CCs trying to get others to write for him lol
One guinness, coming up. It's pint night at Elizabeth's House of Babbling Beers.
Minske...sn5/12 think pulverised potatoes sn5/10 what you might do with your lip if you're not happy
well, it looks like mamabear is gone, but i just wanted to tell her that 1) i'm a Christian too! and 2) there may be a place for Santa in our thought universe even so - CS Lewis used him in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. perhaps when she comes back she'll read this in the log.
hurshy - when who comes back? Mamabear, Santa or CS Lewis? ;)
only one of those is a girl!
tbear, thanks. I'd been trying to decipher hurshy's clue since the last time it was posted.
Ni I agree. I don't think the SN5/12 is a word. Thanks for hte help all. On to the Ts. Only 6 words left to find. I'm going to finish before hubby gets home!!
yeah, the potato clue is better - i wasn't too happy with the car collision one.
anj - you just missed a cracking goal from Nolan!! hurshy - how do you know Santa is a man? Could just be a follically challenged woman!
Reminds me of a joke: rich accoutant, poor accoutant and Santa Claus walking down the road - see a £50 note. Who picks it up and why?
I'd say Santa.
well, in "Twas the Night Before Christmas" (the definitive source of all things Santa), he is referred to as a he the whole way through.
The rich accountant :)
hurshy - fair enough, I'll give you that one! anj - and?
to add one more thought to the santa/christmas discussion: there's a difference between a lie and a fairy tale. and kids are pretty good at understanding that.
yeah, what's the answer, anj?
Lo got it. It's the rich accountant. The other two are figments of our imagination :)
the santa story is fabulous because it encourages kids to use their imagination - theres not much in this world of constant tv that does that.
c'mon, anj.
Dachef, that Spurs goal was never offside...
r u there jlw
Hi all ! how's the babbling going? just got home
...You mean...Santa isn't real? *bursts into tears*
now you've done it anj!
Another thought - if we were all told about Santa and weren't traumatised by discovering the 'truth' why should we think our children are any less able to cope? To me, it's just a benevolent conspiracy.
Okay, I'm sending that joke on to the Boy, but hope no one minds if I change it to a joke about lawyers.
Hey Groovy :) Groovy, santa is real, right? RIGHT?!
I missed this afternoon's Santa discussion. What's the crack??
of course !!
hi, groovygranny - nice icon!
anj - "the crack"? what do you mean by "the crack"?
thanks Hurshy ! im just soo glad to be home .. what a day !!
Of course santa is real! And I'm sure he'll bring you lots of pressies miyavi! Er...you have been a good girl haven't you?
He really means 'craic'
Miyavi - Of course Santa is real. How else would Rudolph have gotten so famous if he didn't have a sleigh to guide?!
Lola, of course. I am the very definition of good. Look up 'good' in the dictionary and there's a picture of me (ew) *hides gun*
darn, craic isn't in the puzzle so i can't click to look it up.
hursh - I just hopped back on...I thought I would say that I work for a parachurch youth organization. Specifically, I work with 1500 middle school students.
hurshy, it just means 'what happened/is happening?'
hurshy - this side of the pond "whats the crack" means whats happening? Comes from the Irish "craic", meaning party.
well, anj, if you mean why did i say "now you've done it!" i just meant you made miyavi cry. if you want the whole background, you'll have to read the log - it's too long.
ok someone just throw me all the words and i'll go ... or i'll have to have santa put it on my list for what i want LOL
smeltz - which one?
Dachef, does it?! This side of England, "what's the crack" means..."oooh...drugs..."
so...I'm told that "parachurch" sounds bad so I will change that to say that I work to provide a bridge from unchurched students to the local churches in my community. I should have just said I work for Youth for Christ.
Mi that makes sense to me
i like this new slang. i will proceed to use it vigorously.
Need help finding my last 2 words. THanks. ti 5/ 10 (the 2nd one - have plural of ti4/4) ti 6/ 18
Smeltz, do you? I was at the CRF last night :)
Smeltz thats a good thing you do Bravo!
minski - denzel movie remember the ti**** is the pl also mythical characters.
Cheers Hurshy - I will go back and have a nose once i've finished. Hey Miy, Santa's been ignoring my xmas lists for years now. It's a conspiracy. Just as any tape you leave in a car turns into Queen, any xmas list you make turns into socks on the 25th :/
Hurshy - guide to usage - craic is an Irish word, pronounced 'crack'. If someone says 'What's the crack?' they mean 'What's gonig on?' Or, 'the crack was great' - means 'We had a great time'
CRF?
Ah, Groovy, someone can see sense :)

Mi come here girl and bring yer nose !!!
*waves nose in Groovy's face* TA DAA...
That totally sucks GG. I have to go in for an oil change and I'm sure I'll end up spending well over $100 before I get out of there. That reminds me. I need to call and make an appointment.
Elmbrook is a pretty good size church. Well...since I work for a non-profit I have to raise money...Our main banquet is tonight so I have to go. I'll have the jacuzzi ready at 9:30 if anyone wants to join!
Woah, I've got to go

yes dachef, agree with hurshy ask for a clue so we can feel useful
Sorry, was someone looking for me earlier? I was taking a phone call.
somebody poke dachef.
yeah, it was me haz. i wanted to know if you could say, "have a good crack!" to someone who's leaving.
by the way hurshy, you are a gifted clue giver!
ha 5/12 and ha 4/5?
No - it would be something like 'Hope you have good crack'
Im watching the Peoples court ........ man is this guy a jerk !!!
ow! Who did that? Im ok at the mo, cheers Hurshy, 15 to go and monkey-typing through the stats! Will be sure to let you know when I get really stumped!!!
brb
(blush) any you liked in particular, smaller?
ha5/12 kinda like the virus but the second to last letter is different i'm working on my hurshy-inspired creative clues
ha 4/5 - let's see if this is right - cockney pronunciation of word for ghost (brits?)
hurshy- against arkansas, of course!
Please any clues for the re/8 & re/9
oh, yeah, i almost forgot about that one.
Yay! I'm done :)
re8&9 do your at6&7 again!
re 8 and 9 - to achieve again or reach a goal.
sandy do you have at 6/18 well add re infront of it and for the re9 add an s to the end
yay lola!
Many thanks
re8, 9 is the at6, again Woohoo LOLA!
Yay Lola!!
alt clue for ha 5/12 ____ brinker and the silver skates plus vowel
i thought of the virus, too, smaller, when i was doing the puzzle myself this morning. i was sad it didn't take it!
*lola cracks bottle of champers* Anyone want a drink while I wait for my fella to slowdance me?
Woo-hoo! Well done babe :) Fancy a snuggle then?? ;)
haz - care to comment on the accuracy of my 3:11 ha4 clue?
wtg lola!!!!!!! save some of the champers, I'm nearly there! (as the bishop said to the actress)
Of course babe :) lol, okay dachef! :)
Hurshy - I'm not sure... my cockney isn't great. I'm the other side of the Irish sea!
well, anyway, i know it's SOME kind of british accent.
Oh, but there are hundreds of them!
to clarify, ha4 is what a ghost does minus middle letter
yeah, i know. but i can't remember which character in which book i read said it that way!
RE 8/40?
ok we JUST gave clues for re8. scroll down.
re8/40 - reach your goal again.
not to be mean or nothin. (sheepish look)
LOL hurshy accents are always fun when "arse" is a babble word makes me feel very european when I say it, all day, like i do
you're fine, hurshy. let it go.
HAZ - thanks
me too smaller!! we have a lot in common.
Not every European says the ar word! Some of us are really sophisticated.....
(letting her guilt float away like a balloon)
as 5/10?
as 5/10 sounds like a paper you write for school
haz- darn it! so it's really that bad of word that you won't type it out. Is that like "sod"? is that a bad word too?
As - donkey plus two vowels
and, haz? what do you sophisticated types say?
It's just not a word that I would use or write myself.
Haz, good as5clue! very hurshyesque
Much nicer to say posterior - I'm kidding!
:) smaller - it's funny that you think it's hurshyesque when it's nothing like the clue i gave! :)
at the risk of sounding superior, doesnt "arse" sound so much better than "butt"?
well time to go get dinner started butt I'll be back later lol
i think so, dachef - but then, isn't "arse" a lower class accent pronunciation of the word in the first place?
Or in Scout World, bootybootybootybootybooty!
hugs xoxoxo
bye granny, get cher arse back soon now ya hear
i guess we'll have to stick with posterior. or bottom.
bye gg!
i guess "bottom" is a very polite reference
oh DEAR i have to go shopping or i won't be back in time to make dinner.
bye hurshy, have a booty-ful night thanks for your help and fun
Bottom is very acceptable - even Shakespeare used it...
keep the babblefaith, folks!
can't resist - but shakespeare was often crude!
take care hurshy! LOL!
hello everyone, how many words today?
I know - but I thought it was quite funny...
122 words and I have 120 of them....
good luck, got 38, just starting
121....
I'm outta here too - Bye everyone :) And remember the wise words of Sir MixALot - "My anaconda don't want none unless you've got buns, hon."
DONE!
bye Bugzy! anyone got a half decent clue for the sa6/18? Im presuming the sa7 is the plural.....
dachef- sa6, "without" "butt" - e
dachef- french for nothing (4 letters) and what we breathe without the middle letter. Pluralise for the 7 :)
what is a clue for the Za

Thank you!
...wax on, wax off :)
Hi cathb! How are you tonight?
mr miyagi!!!!!!!!
smaller, still trying on that z word
i'm fine lola..did you have a good weekend
pbr - do you remember the actor Billy Z who was in Titanic? Part of his name will give you the start of the word and knowing that it is a comparative adjective should give you the rest.
Yes thank you, it was lovely :)
pbr- hmm, try auther Za____ Grey but make it a comparative
Hi east! :)
Anj! How've you been? Lola...ditto to you...it's been awhile!

Good job, pbr!
Anj - good - bit of a sore neck - I must of slept funny b/c it hurt like a son of a gun yesterday...but better today...
okay, need some help here - am desperate to avoid the a2z tonight! Last 4 words: as5/10 er4/4 (not the time one or the greek god one. I have a funny feeling Im gonna need the fish after this one) in6/18 re5/10 (the first one). any help much appreciated (as always)! I am, as ever, willing to do swopsies....
as5/10- donkey (three letters) plus artificial intelligence.
Hi everybody - nice to see you're back Anj. Dachef - there's been a report of a ghostly ship off Mumbles head wtih curious Y front style sails -Yours by any chance!

Hi snowy :)
Lola, Haz, Smaller - nice one! Finished! Snowy, Cath - you mean the sprit of my underpants lives on?????
Easten, no, I was just well short on available time on Thurs & Fri and I was curled up with a good bok over the weekend :) I'm fine thanks Snowy. Entertaining the folks this week. They've already raided the wine although it means I have a full glass beside me :)
Congratulations Dachef. I'm heading off now, so goodnight everyone.
Woo! Well done dachef! :) *hands dachef large glass of champers*
Hi Lola! It's good the gangs All here. Well Dachef - they are reported to have a wooden spoon motif so could be!
anj - you were curled up with a good bok?!?! How many times do you have to be told to leave those South African mammals lone??? <winks at Lola>
Anj - enough wine to share? (*holding glass out hopefully*) : )
Sorry Anj was that a South African bok called 'Angel Delight on Table Top Mountain' by any chance?
woohoo for dachef, are you sure you should be confiding that you sprit in your underpants? how old are you? scoutsmom should be able to help you with that
night Haz, thx again for your help!! :)
bye haz!
Night Haz smaller LOL!!!!!!
smaller - its a long story - it involves a drunken night out in Mumbles, the involuntary loss of underwear and naked people.
oooo pretty icon, Snowy!
a list of the a's please
*Anj pours out generous measures of Maison Sichel Renaissance to whoever waves a glass* Dachef, I couldn't resist this one lol Bear, you should see the laundry pile lol :)
Don't Dachef I'm too old to be thinking about naked chefs at this time of night!!
A A A A A A A A A
Dachef - would that result in stumbles in Mumbles? : )
Dachef, blah blah blah til "naked people" ....so go on..... unless Anj and Lola get going and then it's "Dachef, shhhh"
Thankyou smaller I am still looking for one in flight, but I can wait
Anj - you about to sneeze???
eastern blue- lol
a list of the d's please
EasternBlue - we have " The Bumbles of Mumbles"....
CathB - in the US, we have a "Rudolph" Christmas special with a snow monster named Bumble...any correlation? : )
da 4/ 6 da 4/ 6
Smaller -every once in a while I can jump in with something...since I'm not 'seeing' most of the words I need (or am still missing), the log is getting more attention!
EasternBlue - could be a distant relative but these are seaside characters
have to go now peeps - have to be in Milton Keynes tomorrow to see a man about a job! Might be moving there soon, so want to have a god luck around. See you guys all soon!!
all the best Dachef..
good luck, dachef...
Bye Dachef...
bye Dachef! Eastern Blue - LOL-i do that too!!!
btw, smaller: thanks for volunteering me to help with various messes--cuz I didn't have enough to deal with as it is!
Bye Dachef & good luck for tomorrow
'bye dachef...and good luck! :)
'nite Dachef. Milton Keynes ain't exactly Mecca tho'...
Scoutsmom, Better you than me, girl! I have a 2 year old, yours is older so I'm sure you miss the messes. Right? Right? Only thinking of you and your happiness. I promise. hehehehe
anyone have a clue for le 5/12?
tbug, it's what you use to walk your dog.
oops.. just got it
No such luck, smaller. Scout is 2 as well.
ty tho scouts! :)
Scoutsmom, well crap!
you said it, smaller.
Anj and Lola..... will you please stop emailing each other and thereby depriving the rest of us of our episodes of "Days of our Babble"
Waxing your legs, Anj?!! (teasing) I've used the term 'sit-upon.' As in 'a bee flew up my skirt and stung my sit-upon. A bit quaint. I've also said such things as 'the damn thing bit my arse!' It really depends on the mood, don't you all think?
Scoutsmom, the stench factor is truly amazing. someone so cute and angelic can produce such a take-a-knee, pass-me-a-tissue-b/c-my-eyes-a re-watering, and OMG-i'm-gonna-hurl type of bowel movement
Wow. I'm done. But what does that mean in the ranking???? zero, zip, zilch, nada, and nothing.
Babble has swallowed my previous message. I wonder why? It had the word 'damn' in it....
woohoo for fit1!
I know, smaller. She had one yesterday that was pure evil. And did it in the presence of my Gentleman Friend. Thank Heaven he's got a child also.
Smaller, what's this 'Days of our Babble' thing?? Have I missed something?? Must admit my mind has been wandering of late. I usually send it off with a map and a pack lunch tho'... :) Cheers Mab, I think my pegs are way beyong waxing tho' lol :)
mab--it was there. reminded me of the commercial with the "roaming gnome" who sat in the whirlpool at a hotel and said, "one's in danger of getting bubbles up one's whoops-a-daisy!"
oooo wow, there's a relationship builder! my husband and I took pictures of Eion's first poops and we would (sorry all) kiss his cute little sit-upon (liked that one man). Now, no way in hecque!
Babble has eaten two of my messages. I'm wondering if this will be posted. Hello, hello? Can you hear me?
Fit1, want a laugh. I didn't Babble for 4 days running and went UP 14 places in the rankings. How's that for a result :)
congrats fit1 - it's the taking part that counts - if we took any notice of the rankings we'd all be in the funny farm. I think its really insulting that I lost 5 days babble last week and jumped about 15 places up the list - I've dropped about 25 since I've been back!!! - But i don't care!!! - well not really
There's a lesson to be learned there, Anj. How many "p" words today?
i went down 300!!!!!
mab & ScoutsMom - I love those gnome commercials!
none torgone
Anj - I think smaller's reference is to a soap opera called Days of Our Lives...it's on here in the states (tho' I confess I've never seen it!)
Cath!!!! - Lay off the paracetemol!!
Evening Torgone :) I know, it's a bit scary but I miss all the banter and get Babble-withdrawal if i'm away for too long :/
torgone, don't believe her. there are 42 P words, and if you don't get them you'll go to the very bottom of the rankings.
Anj- yes, Eastern Blue is right. Only soap I could think of. Must just be a US thing.
Oh dear, just refreshed and all is intact. Sorry to be repetitive. T'is Torgone's birthday tomorrow. Hope you had a lovely evening out yesterday, Torgone. Happy Birthday, once again.
I think "ptttt" is a valid word....
Cheers Eastern. I was thinking 'All My Circuits' off Futurama for some reason...
Scoutsmom, Play nice!!!
Thanks, mab! It was quite nice.
In the immortal words of my girl, NO! NO! NO!
Anj - that might be a play on "all my children" (another US soap)...
Happy Birthday for tomorrow Torgone :)
any excuse for a new icon...
Happy birthday, Torgone. Everyone else have a good evening as well. holla.
Happy Birthday Torgone - My son will be honoured that he shares a birthday with Groucho - Come to think of it his wife calls him Groucho - or would that be Grouchy?
Nos da scoutsmom
Scoutsmom, Hey, you'll be gettin' the better part of my hand on your backside if you don't simmer down, Missy! how's that?
Yeah Anj..bet you really missed us!! Nothing quite like a good bok to completely distract one!!
bye ScoutsMom Torgone - Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you...happy birthday dear Torgone...happy birthday to you!
Well Bear, I always get lost between the covers... ;)
smaller- we used to get DOOL in sa! Do you want me to come back from the dead and tempt Anj away from his new wife who was once my best friend then??
snowy a rendition of penblwydd hapus i think
Happy birthday torgone :)
CathB, that sounds painful...
I cannot possibly type that much Welsh Cath!!!
Thank you all! When you get to be ***My Age*** birthday's aren't as much of a whoop-de-doo as they used to be.
Torgone when you get to mine you're just amazed you are still here!
Torgone, we're still too young to be old farts!
sure lola! but back up a bit and have somebody off you first, preferably over/because of Anj, places everyone. and ACTION!
How about a "Middle-Aged Trouser Cough" heading towards Old Fartdom?
OOPs torgone just checked your bio - only 3 years difference!
I am beginning to identify with that feeling SnowyOwl. It is so very nice to have you back Anj and Lola and everyone. I can't tell you how much you've been missed. Despite Anj's hairy pegs.
....i'm not sure I like this script... *Anj bounds over scenery, sweeps Lola up in his arms, and pegs it off the studio set towards the nearest exit*
and before you say it snowy..."i'm 8 days younger than you"
and the closest pub
Torgone, you will know that you are olderish the first time someone unrelated to you calls you 'pops.' (Just ignore them)
Thanks mab, but I was only gone 3 days! And his legs are lovely :)
How nice Lola!
Anj- NO EXIT!!! Sheesh, you people!
smaller- how about I just get him drunk and take advantage of him in the jacuzzi?
Why thank you Mab. I shall try not skip the Babbleverse too often in future :)
mab - LOL... I've had my fill of being called ma'am!
What is age anyway? Just a number. You're only as old as your feet.
Torg, I still go with 'you're only as old as the woman you feel' :)
Ok, can't argue with that one Torgone
Lola...your first two champagne flutes on me...refresh
That makes me 0 then anj!
Lola, that's good, but I think you two have already done that storyline, but who cares! go with that, yes think of it as a b-day present for Torgone
stuck on the 2 In's -- i have the 6 one
Hello, I am kink of ne to this, but could I please have a clue for re 8/ 40 re 9/ 54
Smaller, it might give Torgone a coronary...trust me on this ;)
Oh my... I meant I am kind of new to this
Aw, thanks tbear :)
TLE, put an re in fron your at6/18 and at7/28 :) The at words mean 'to get' as in status or grade
TLE (kinky) hahhahahahahaha re8 and re9 to achieve again and plural
TLE: I liked your original message. Do you have the at 5 and 6? Re them.
Bear, does Chris serve champagne??
hey kids. how's it going?
Welcome TLe - I could hear strains of Waterloo Sunset for a moment
Sweetheart we'll take our own...he'll only have cheap cr/4
Anj, He knows his limits, he'll cover his eyes. It was only self-serving gesture on my part anyway.
I have 5/re
Greeetings Boreetos :)
Evenin' boreetos....
Yeah. Watching some other bloke having a good time. Happy birthday to me...
welcome back boreetos
you know, I feel like the only one that doesn't change their icon... maybe I should update the plate.
Hey boreetos! :) torgone- lol, but I did think the same thing!
My original message must have been a freudiant slip..joking
torgone...a lil birthday pressie for you...refresh
well saying goodnight all...early start in the morning so time for bed....see you tomorrow
LOL, TLE
well all...I'm heading for home...may be back on after dinner! In case I'm not - have a good night! : )

I thought his birthday was tomorrow????? I hope the singing telegram doesn't arrive on the wrong day!! *shhhhh!!!! don't tell him*
the ta5 starts the way the at6 ends. def."To affect with a tinge of something reprehensible"
I need help with the 2nd D word, I have the one that means to sprint. Clues please. I hope it is not an obvious one :)
It is tomorrow, Mammabear.
periwinkle, swap the last two letters.
periwinkle, same letters, different order
in that case, I am running off the wrong at, which I don't have yet..... oh well. thanks anyway.. thought I would try and slip in a couple words before I leave work....
mammabear.... gives us time for the spanking ritual line-up, hey we could make it a babble convention at the same time!!!
Mammabear, torgone and smaller, thanks, found the 2nd D word. Still have lots to look for. Having trouble with the A's.
hmmm, stuck on the na7. The hippo of inspiration is not stirring in the mudbath of my mind...
To be a better Rasta, your dreds must be na7.
OR Neat, trim, and smart; dapper
periwinkle, so sorry about the a's. quite mean today, and about 1/5 of all the words. not nice. fire at will with questions
well...it is MY birthday today...

Happy Birthday too yoooooo!
A very happy birthday, Mark! *sings* Put another candle on my birthday cake, and when you do, a wish I'll make, put another candle on my birthday cake, I'm another year older today. Happy birthday to you, I'm another year older today!
it has been a happy birthday - went hiking with some buddies on Saturday (absolutely gorgeous), ate pizza, had italian pastries for dessert...fun time
I like your icon Anj - it makes my eyes twirl around in their sockets
the other er4/4 rhymes with urns
Happy birthday mark :)
thanks Mark - but I have that one and the one(s) on the side of my head
Thanx Mamabear. I think it's an abstract...
No, Mama, you need to remove the A from "that one." :)
there's the er4/4 = multiple epochs
i need to go have dinner....bye all!
bye mark!
bye mark, have a great birthday!
thanks for the er! leaving work now - see y'all later.
Safe trip home, Mama!
Bye guys! Also leaving for home. Thanks for all the nice words. See me later.

peri - in 6 what you stand on in your shoes
joey, thanks, found the 2nd i word.
hi all sum1 help me with ra5/10 sn5/10 thx

in4/4- opposite of out and first two letters of another word for street.
Thanx babe :) Well, gotta split or I will: a) be disinherited b) risk losing my wine stash c) risk losing my whisky d) rosk getting an ASBO from the neighbours as my folks are howling with laughter at Family Guy e) all four of the above

Cheers babe, say hi to the folks for me :) xxx
Night anj & welcome home again - sweet dreams
joey yep
'nite babe, I will :) xxx 'nite Snowy 'nite All - back in Babbleland tomorrow...
ra 5/10 is plural of prev ra4 (is that really the one you need, happy?)
Happy, Ra5/10 Plural of Ra4/4 or more than one downpour. Sn5/10 to trap or a trap OR a type of drum Sn5/10 to growl, bare teeth. OR tangle, as in hair.
sn 5/10, use the sn plus I am, you... he is, she is........
happy, where do you live?
and, howdy all. i'm back again.
Hi. Thought I'd pop in for a moment. Anj, Hi. How's everybody doing?
hurshy, glad to see you...... happy monday........ or not.........
Howdy, Hurshy!
i just popped in too joelgee. great minds think alike.
you too, joey. it's always a happy day in babbleland.
hurshy-- Hi.
hi QRJ!
Good evening Joel. You are a handsome devil.
sorry folks am a bit slow 2 nite thnx 4 help. think ive missed 1 sumwhere
Am I the gorilla your dreams?
You're right, Hurshy. Always a happy day in Babbleland. Even when I'm beating my head against an imaginary wall in frustration! :)
hurshy in the bonnie land
Can anyone help with clues for the last na4/4 and na7/28?
whatcha need, QRJ (hi anj, lola, snowy)
Oh, Joelgee! Groan! Love the pun. I have a stuffed gorilla named Gorilla My Dreams. :)
ooh, kristin's here too! na 4/4 plural of ms. bobbsey na 7 "the journey of _____ gann", comparative OR more stylish, more dapper
Doing okay today, Hurshy. No imaginary walls. :) Just saying it's good even then.
qrj - good to hear happy - forgive me, is that...scotland, then?
na4 A variation on the spelling of an Indian bread (pl) na7 to be more stylish
that is correct
any tips on the ae7?
ae7 is ae4 plus past tense of sit
Where have all the Brits gone, long time passing?
OK everyone...this is off topic, but I need someone who knows German to tell me how to pronounce the last name of Koch. I immediately thought of the vast language base here and hope someone can help. I narrate books onto tape for free distribution to the blind and I have to narrate this tomorrow and want to have the correct pronunciation. Also, if anyone knows French, the correct pronunciation for Villemin (also a last name). THANK YOU!
Right fellow babblers, my midnight (self-imposed) curfew has arrived so I must say goodnight. Good luck and see you all tomorrow :)
ae7 take your ae4 + past tense of sit
what's lola and anj's flag?
hello all!!!
that is so neat, DBG. I used to read for the blind over a radio station, very rewarding.
good evening, DBG
bye lola! hi nordina!
Thanks Joelgee and Hurshy, got them now :)
hurshy- my flag??
tx
Hey Joelgee!
i mean, what country is it?
'nite, lola
hurshy- do-oh, sorry, late here! It's the english flag :)
former mayor ed koch was just ... forget my linguistics...well, it rhymed with botch. but i don't know if that's an american corruption.
could have sworn i had tried that one
DirtBikeGirl: Villemin: vee-ya-meen Koch: coke
OH! cannot believe i didn't know that. just so used to seeing the GB flag.
'Night lola, Anj. Welcome all. DBG: Mayor Koch pronounced his name with a ch as in 'catch.' I know others who pronouse it 'cook.'
How is it going? I've been out all evening, it's choir practice on a Monday evening, then I have to watch the recording of Coronation Street, so now I'm back to finish off, I only have about 23 to find.
hello, ex wren. may i go for a ride on your icon?
That sounds very do-able, ExWren, even with this sticky grid.
Oh yes, I meant to comment on your icon -- it''s very nice.
(can't wait for permission) WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEE!
I rode on it two weeks ago and it's amazing. I'm not keen on heights, but the wheel moves so slowly, you are not aware of it
callin it a nite now c ya -x-
Thanks everyone for your pronunciation help! The book I'm narrating is by a College Professor. He loves to pull in examples from history and uses many words I've never heard of. This week we have scrofula, salubrious, dynamism, palimpsest, and phthisic. At least these I can look up in the dictionary. I'm really enjoying learning all the new words. Maybe one day I can use them on Babble!
I hope not!
SA 5/10? not the heavenly one or the material.
LOL ExWren!
hj -- sa 5/10 think indian style dress (strange spelling)
thank you ak, now I just need the other asa 5/10? Not the Indian style dress, the heavenly one, or the material!
or sa 5/10 add a pretty flower minus last letter
qviet group.
za 6/33 any one? my knowledge of the z vocabulary seems limited!
za6 - more crazy
TY, should have known that z one, everyone keeps telling me i am crazy
:)
was it thoreau who said, "a lunatic is just a minority of one"?
Joey, Yeah, I'm having a blast narrating. I had to audition, but if I didn't make it I was going to try and read for the blind over the radio as well. Luckily I passed the audition. Last week I got to read with a Scottish brogue!!! Usually I get in trouble when I try my accents...
she rides dirt bikes, she reads for the blind, she can do a scottish brogue...she's superdirtbikegirl!!!!
Whew! all done - Goodnight, Good Luck and Happy Babbling to you all. Sweet dreams if it's your time to sleep. Til tomorow x
'night snowy!
Hurshy, how about the sa6/18 and 7/28, not seeing them.
prev sa4 plus abbr for arkansas
Thank you!!!!!
yw!
LOL Hurshy! I started trying accents as a kid (drove my parents nuts), and my Grandma was blind and received books on tape, hence my desire to narrate.
you can change your handle to superdirtbikegirl now. if you want. no charge.
TI 5/18?
ti 6/18 denzel movie "remember the ti****" OR group of mythical strong men
Hmmmm, SuperDirtBikeGirl... I like it!!!
me too! it has a nice ring to it.
Then I could get someone to take a picture of me doing the Superman trick for my buddy icon!
there's a superman trick? what is it?
Gee whiz, discovering that there is not a ti 5/18 has opened up a whole new world for me! thank you for enlightening me. I have to learn to read my own writing, I guess.
harpjane - i find it works nicely to copy and paste the word list into my word processing program, avoiding handwriting issues.
Hurshy I am done and I owe you many thanks (as usual) for your help! Since I still have 2 hours to go at work, I'll pop in and out to help with clues.
Think of Superman flying with both arms outstretched. You just hold on to the handlebars, kick your feet out behind you and that's it! Of course I've never done one... I need a quicker bike... Getting one this Spring though as I LOVE jumping.
hurshy, actually I did copy & paste it. Technically, it was my own typing that I couldn't read! Go figure. It had to do with how my columns were set. Live and learn. Anyway I'm done now!
I cut & paste my list into Notepad. Used to erase as I got words. Got too confusing. Now I type the words in as I go.
harpjane - congrats!! SDBG - sounds cool!!
i just toggle back and forth between the list window and the babble window. come to think of it, i should just print out the list in future.
oh, congrats kristin!!!!! missed your post there.
hello babble folk
kataroo, hello!
Yeah Harpjane!!!!
yeah, there is no way there could be a 5/18 - that would be nine points, and there aren't enough in reach of the t.
Well everyone, I'm off. It's been fun, and thanks again to everyone for your pronunciation help!
how many words is there?
oh, i'm wrong. sort of. there could be a 5/20 if tinaz were a word. but not a 5/18
there are 122 words. bye SDBG!!!
raise your hand if you think i have too much free time
*raises hand...how do you do it?!
Believe me, I tried tinaz! Sound like it could be a type of wine?
do what? oh, have so much free time? well, i only work part time, and i don't have kids harpjane - like shiraz?
living in the south is not good for babbling... or should i say 'aint' good for babbling?
why, how does living in the south affect it?
kataroo i agree, that is a word, but so is tasso (spicey sausage) but it won't accept that either!
oooooooooh, because you have different words?
my vocabulary is chock full of words not in the dictionary that are used on a daily basis by even the most educated folk down yonder
in 6/18?
wow, i knew there were some things, like y'all, but i didn't know there were that many.
in 6/18 part of shoe that foot actually sits on
one problem is that i live in the lowcountry of south carolina, so gullah (a slave language) words are used instead of regular words at times, and gullah isn't in the dictionary
thx hurshy
how much i don't know!
where are you from hurshy?
new england. but, i do have one word most people don't have. in rhode island, where i grew up, we call a drinking fountain a bubbler.
apparently they use that word in milwaukee too. go figure.
they call them bubblers in canada too! confused the mess out of me the first couple of times i was told a bubbler was down the hall and around the corner
when i asked for them in college (just in massachusetts!), they thought i wanted champagne!
good ole water fountain here in the south
Hello All
hi, faeriekae! good to see you again!
of course, i make up my own words, too, so i have others that people don't generally use.
hurshy!! not much time for babble tonight just stopped in to see how everyone else is doing. Sounds like a lively crowd this evening
not really, faeriekae - at the moment, the chat is fairly slow! comparatively.
apparently babble makes up a few words too hurshy LOL
made up words are the best kind, especially when the people with you understand what you're saying. i love verbifying nouns (as i just demonstrated)
look - there's over half an hour of chat in this one page. kristin - agree! LOL
yes, i asked my eye doctor, whose husband is also an eye doctor, whether he optometrizes there with her. :)
heehee...oh words. gotta love 'em.
Creating new words is good for the brain (squeeze)
yup. most of mine have to do with my cats, though, i guess.
Kitties? How many hurshy?
i have 3.
Details....
my roomies and i had a cat, but Kerri's boyfriend took him back home
all short haired. one male orange striped with a crook in his tail - the most domesticated animal on earth. one female grey striped - very playful. one female solid grey - shy but very affectionate.
I'm sorry kat
mean old kerri's boyfriend!
i miss madison, he was a crazy cat
*sympathy*
i'm sure he's happier though in a big house in the country than in our small little apartment in the city
i've had 2 littermates (boy and girl - 2 years old) but my little boy kitty died earlier this spring - heartbroken. Girl kitty (Tess) was heart broken so I went to the pound and got a kitten. Adult, Tess, white and black, and baby, Sace, black and white.
(looks on the bright side with kat)
oh, kristin, so sorry! hope tess feeling better with new playmate...
hey you've got to like a guy who likes cats
i didn't realize how cute cats really are until i cohabited with one
which guy who likes cats? kerri's boyfriend, you mean?
any clue for the re9 Please :)
They are great buddies now and I got lucky and found another lap cat
yeah, people don't realize that cats are not all they are stereotyped to be until they live with them. really, they are a lot like kids - of course they act differently around the people they know.
Kerris boyfriend, not many guys would offer to take a cat, at least not that I know!
re 9 is pl of re 8, which is to do at6 over again!
need help on two of the three an's between the copper coins and saturns rings...
madison and i had a little bit of a rivalry...he wasn't allowed in my room, and so he would always run in as soon as the door was open, even though he knew he wasn't supposed to be there
hmmm...guess that's true kristin, never thought about it. my husband loves our cats.
I guess the grid got stuck for a whil so .... hello all again is everybody happy today? SA 7/28 is not yet mentionned in the log as far as I could see . Any babble superstars would share a clue perhaps?????
raseboys - i have all the words but haven't looked at the definitions! i'll check and get back to you.
sa 7/28 is pl of sa 6/18, which is sa4 plus what a pirate says
raseboys - nothing between those. maybe you need the ones after saturn's rings. change your consonant in the rings to the consonant immediately following.
i think the girls above me are doing step aerobics or something. i had no idea people could be so incredibly loud!
(laughs at kat) you obviously haven't lived at a boys' boarding school!
lol, that would be anatomically correct for me not to have...
ok, that means I am missing the one between the rings and the pilaster, plus another that I need to figure out.
well, me too, but my husband and i live and teach at one now.
got it - thanks
oh goodness, props to you! i can't even imagine what that's like. we have the citadel here and those boys are crazy enough, and that's when they're just around town!
there aren't any between the rings and the pilaster either! oh, do you mean the fives? just plural, but not anglo type plural. antenna type plural.
was there a clue for the as 5 /10 in the log? I saw it mentioned a couple of times but can't find an answer
it's interesting, to say the least, kat. i'll say this much for them, though - they're not screechy, unlike teenage girls.
OK, getting closer... I got one, now just need the an 5 between the pilaster and the opposer.
well the pilaster has two with same first four letters
as 5/10: another word for rear plus 2 vowels
alt clue as 5 sounds like a paper you write for school
thank you kataroo!
good clue Kat, i was trying to come up with something
true...i live with girls which i never thought would be possible for me, but when i lived in traditional dorms i spent all my time hanging out with the boys because they weren't as ridiculous as the girls!
as 5/10 - backside, plus first two letters of "don't say **nt, or your mother will ***nt..."
hmm. the rear/donkey plus vowels clue seems to be much more popular than my school paper one.
i have an unhealthy appreciation for words that start with those first 3 letters...i blame it on shakespeare's wordplay in a midsummer night's dream
got all the an's, thx hurshy
you get your an5, raseboys? (laughs at kat)
oh, posts crossed in cyberspace
gee, thought mamabear would pop back on when she got home from work. either it's a REALLY long drive or she is doing something other than babbling (gasp)
i must say, i only discovered babble like 4 or 5 days ago and i'm incredibly addicted already. i'm absolutely terrible at it, but i love it!
kat - i've only been doing it for... a week and a half? two weeks? and i'm addicted too, as you can see.
I am desperate- I've been working on two an's for the past half hour. I think it is the 2ns 4/4 and the 5/10 next to it but I could be wrong. Please help, my time is running out
i guess the really old hands must get annoyed with all the chatter, since i don't see many of the names at the top of the rankings in the chat.
how are you so good after a week and a half?!
always been good at boggle
i'm ranked in the mid 6oos....
2nd an 4/4 is woman's name
3rd an4/4 is opposite of question, in a boston accent
woohoo! my man's calling me
No, I've got that one
4th an 4/4 change consonant in 3rd to consonant immediately following
hi
2nd Le 5/10 and le 5/12?
No. 50 on th rankings (was 49 yesterday!) here for a short while to help out with clues. Hiya!
mamabear!!!!!
how was your day hurshy???
le 5/10 old fasioned past tense of le 4 preceding
Hello Mamabear. Your comment when this grid first came up about a sale on 'T's' made me laugh.:-)
that's even funny secondhand. hi jacula! (hugs mamabear)
May I please have clues for two so5's? I have the reddish brown word, but have been monkey typing for at least an hour for the other two. I'd be grateful.
le 5/12 walk your dog on a ....
There was also a 'bogof' sale on 'A's' too - 4 of them. But we don't mind those, do we?
My first thought was "I stayed up til midnite for THIS?"
my day was good, mamabear. i wrote some responses to your santa discussion while you weren't here this afternoon, hoping you'd go back and see them.
oh my gosh -- has anyone else experienced this? I typed in a word and it says I've used it and I haven't!!
so 5 like a plant or a type of mare, but reduce double consonant to single
I'll go back and see if I can find them, hurshy...
scootermom, try refresh
last so 5/10 pl of prev so4
thank you -- that worked!!
That is the so that I have. I'm beginning to think the other two do not exist.
first so5 pl of prev so4
did ex wren get the an's? did raseboys get the le's?
with no icon, my clues can be easy to overlook
jacula - what's "bogof"?
FISH! realized as soon as i hit post.
Thanks, hurshy; how silly of me not to check for a plural. Now. The other? I'm sorry, I don't usually beg to brazenly.
No hurshey, I'm still missing the an5/10, but I'm going to give up - it's 1.50am here and well past my bedtime!
mab - the first one's def had "grayish-brown" in it, so i foolishly assumed that was the one you had.
mab - also plural
(distressed for ex wren and at own clue inefficacy)
ExWren are you still there? I believe your missing an5's may be plurals or fours.
no worries hurshy, your clues help me all the time :D
Hi Hurshy. 'Bogof' is 'Buy One Get One Free'.
yeah, i know, but thanks jacula (see post immediately following query)
(relieved by kataroo's encouragement)
I found the further chat on Santa, et al...... now back to our regularly scheduled program..
it was a ways back, huh?
got the le's, thanks.
Oh yea! Sorry, Hurshy. My man came down looking for me nd now he's nicked my pillow to cuddle up to. Got distracted. LOL.
Oh, I hate this game, just got the an's, and found I still need at10 to finish
Anyway, is Ex-Wren still here? I'd like to help with the an5, if I knew which one it was.
at10? at 5/10 you mean? at plus road paving substance
My, how I got tangled in those so's. Apparently we have two so words in color. I have them all now. Thank you, hurshy. I know how you feel re ExWren, however, she is very decisive. When she's done, she's done. A quality I would like to develop.
or a "t" worth 10?
Yes it was wwaaaaayyyy back. I only have 68 words and I think that might be it for tonite. ....
mab - you're welcome, and looks like you were wrong about ex wren! LOL
at5 - think roses. Clue given you before is easiest though. Also, Persian poet and mystic whose masterpiece, Conference of the Birds, is an allegorical survey of Sufism.
Hi.
Evening, Torgone.:-)
hello torgone. (pause for awe directed at jacula)
Heya Jacula. How's it going?
Heye torgone
i'm missing an n, though i don't know which...i have 2 na 4/4s and the na 5/10...i need one more n though
She is awesome, isn't she hurshy?
Sorry folks, I am sleep deprived, it is an at7/28 that I need now
Well! Babble wins again, hurshy. Hello Torgone. Are you feeling better about your birthday? I sensed some regret yesterday and earlier. Is that too personal?
most t 5/10s are plurals. others are to mar something and mythical strong man
I was done hours ago, Torgone, if you'll pardon the expression. LOL. Was off on Eastofthe Web, playing wordgames. But it's lonely there, so I came back here.
plural of the at 6/18 before it
at 7/28 change last letter of other at7/28!
got that one, there is another
Ex-Wren - were you asking for an 'at5/10' or a 't5/10'?
ex wren! ex wren! i did it!!! got the clue you need, i mean.
Not really, mab. Just the usual "Blah blah pity me I'm getting old blah blah blah." I think I'm over that now.
na 7 comparative form of "the journey of ______ gann" alt clue: more stylish, more dapper
ExWren, use one of your ta5's for an ending. The one that means spoiled or tampered with.
ex wren!!! clue at 8:01!!!!!!! (desperate to redeem self)
sweet! thanks...that was super. reminds me of babes in toyland with drew barrymore when they sing the song about cincinatti
That ta5/10 - might be how a Cockney would say, 'It isn't!'
or an 80s song, ta***ed love...
i don't think anyone actually asked for any t5's, just we couldn't figure out ex wren's request at first.
Jacula goes from one side of log to the other, dressed in old music hall gear, singing 'Fings ain't wot they used to be...'
wow...i only have...hmm- 41 words to find. i think this is the closest i've got to finishing! :D
Thanks kataroo. Now I've got that rattling around my head . .
Bless you Bless You Bless you all, I CAN sleep now Goodnight all, see you tomorrow
sometimes i feel i've got to * * run away...
ex wreeeeeeeeeeen! don't fall asleep now! (is entertained by jacula's performance)
whew. relief.
Ex-Wren. Have you got the word yet? It rhymes with the stuff you take from a tin, put on a brush or roller, and decorate your house with. You might also get artistic with it.
bye ex wren! sleep the sleep of the just.
I think the ta5 clue was in reference to the at7, which ends like the aforementioned ta5 . . Or something . .
shameless plug in 3...2...1 torgone, for something really catchy to get stuck in your head you should check out www.danceforbaumer.com
yeah i think everyone is set now.
zzzzz well, Ex-Wren. xx
Oh, good, Torgone. Birthdays can prompt a bit of life review and melancholy. It has been my observation that most people so afflicted are quite accomplished. I think that raising a family, for example, is an enormous thing to have done.
Look, I said sorry, I was confused, I'll try better in the morning
Everyone but the bear.....
nobody blaming you, ex wren!
You are wonderful ExWren. No worries. Sticky, dreadful puzzle today. Sleep well.
mamabear, i only meant as far as clues that had been requested - not people being done. :)
very short of a/4 words....any clues?
JK!
It's stuck in my head now, too... 'Sometimes I feel I've got to Run away I've got to Get away From the pain that you drive into the heart of me The love we share Seems to go nowhere And I've lost my light For I toss and turn I can't sleep at night (chorus) Once I ran to you (I ran) Now I'll run from you This*Babble* love you've given I give you all a girl could give you Take my tears and that's not nearly all Oh...*Babble* love *Babble* love...' LOL.
hey mab, i dread my birthdays, but that's just because bad things tend to happen on that day.
i repeat my shameless plug... www.danceforbaumer.com get a new song in your head! :D
i need my last 6 letter word...
(laughs at jacula) ae 4 ____plane ai 4 a plus opposite of outs an 4 add donkey minus letter an 4 also's an 4 woman's name an 4 opposite of question, boston accent an 4 change vowel of next word an 4 against ar 4 length times width
*looking for Flock of Seagulls songs to drive away the dreaded Soft Cell . .*
which, kat?
i have: an 2 at's in 2 le's sa sh ti za
i dont have this fun list that has everything broken down by first 2 letters, # of letters in a word and the score
I think a bit of Motorhead would drive it all away.... Playing 'Ace of Spades' NOW! ROFLOL.
Hi everyone.
za - wackier, crazier others, need lengths, points
good evening ohro!!!
OH, kat! go to babblers anonymous link on right side of page, under general, first post.
i have the za
hi!
Hi Mamma. You are looking fabulous as ever.
hi ohro, koasterking. don't b'lieve we've met. (shakes hands)
Kataroo - if you look on the right of your screen you will see a box with green lettering in it. It's called 'Friends of Babble'. The last on that list is 'Babblers Anonymous' forgive Jamies for not including the possessive apostrophe at the end of Babblers. The stats for each day's puzzle are to be found in there.
Actually, mab, I kind of like where I am now. My kids are maturing, I can look back on a lot of lessons learned, I live in a nice place, i'm fairly healthy.....be nice to have more money though...
thanks!
lizmac - my list help you?
Torgone. Happy birthday for yesterday! Which milestone was it? I'd like the body I had at 18 or even at 30, but I prefer the peace of mind and confidence I have now I'm 48!
ok, i'm missing the lo 6/18
Hi Hurshy, Kosterking. How are you all tonight? I just got home from bowling and am now ready to spend the rest of the night on my other passion (babble). : )
kat - pl of lo5
lo 6/18 plural of lo 5/10
And you also, ohro!
lo6/18 is the plural of the lo5/10 above it.
oooh, bowling! lucky.
plural of lo 5 / 10
i like rollercoasters. ever been to magic mountain in Valencia, CA (Near LA)?
thanks!
we are a helpful bunch
i am not very good at babble
Clue please on the 3 at's that aren't the 2 that mean to get....
That's good to hear. But what would you do with more money? I suppose that you want to travel -- isn't that what most say? Or maybe to send your son to a good military school somewhere in the Balkans?
It's actually tomorrow, Jac. We celebrated yesterday. And I'm just ahead of you at 49. Er, will be in about six hours ..
at plus road paving substance and plural (amused at koasterking's humility)
Yeah, I just go bowling so that I have an excuse to drink beer for 3 hours. : ) There, there, Kosterking. It will come with time. This is definitely something that you get better at with each puzzle.
(likes mild coasters, has never been to CA) (likes bowling, not beer)
thanks! and what would be the second at 7/28???
MB: the at's fall into two categories, I think; the one that has to do with achievment and the one that is related to things rose-scented. Which do you need?
mama - change last letter of other at 7/28
thanks dahling!
the two na's that aren't grannies?
can someone give me a word? or a good, long and detailed clue?
oh, welcome of course. (never been a dahling. trying it on for size. liking it.)
na 4 pl of ms. bobbsey na 7 more dapper, more jaunty or "the journey of ____ gann" made comparative
koasterking - we NEVER post words themselves. (as phoebe once said on friends, you NEVER run on a barge) for clues, scroll back through the log, or ask for specific ones you want, and we'll happily oblige.
There's only one 'na' that doesn't have something to do with grannies or a childish way of saying bananas.
and we ALWAYS cross at the light
Thanks,still a few to go + r's & l's !!!!! Keep 'em coming PLEASE.
only two lights in my town, mama!
Lizmac - you'll have to be a little more specific than that if you want clues.
a small town girl!
lizmac - as alex trebek would say, "be more specific."
Hurshy - SNAP! LOL.
yup.
jacula - did you just turn out my lights?!!!!!
this stuff helps me improve my college english scores, i got an A this quarter ;-)
ah, a youngun. all watch language.
hurshy comes through again!
(bows)

can i bother someone for the sa 7/28 please?
This game will definitely improve your recognition of arcane, obscure, and obsolete words.
In truth, saying we *never* post words in the log isn't quite true. Even up to the last two minutes, we'll give the words more cryptically, but in the last 30 secs., we have been known to scream , 'It's SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOC IOUS!' Or words to that effect.
sa 7/28 pl prev sa6 (jumps in jacuzzi)
oh.... never been here then! :) interesting.
Can I join you smeltz?
that was supposed to be a jacuzzi...it looked better when I made it
Sorry Hurshy. Just put lights out in utility. Was working reverse way Sat and Sun night, whilst trying to watch fireworks. Every time we put the lights out we switched the fireworks outside off!:-/
Well done KoasterKing. When I saw your name the only image that sprang to mind was the things one places one's drink on so as not to make a ring. Funny. (peculiar funny, not ha ha)
jacuzzi?
I've been waiting.... *SPLASH*..... hey, what you got in here?
Why isn't Mr. Claus a valid word?
kat - we pretend to sit in a jacuzzi, drink champagne, and hit ourselves with fish - don't tell me you didn't notice?
we're all sad about that, raseboys.
the fish? yes jacuzzi? i'm noticing now! can i be scandalous and skinnydip?
raseboys - see thread of messages this afternoon on the whole "Santa" issue!!!! LOL
eggs...sunny side up!
Is that some kind of yolk?
ewww, slimy
oh no, kat! smeltz is a boy!
Kat - it gets a little weird in here sometimes, but no weirder than any other internet place where folks with imagination(s) congregate. Just be thankful you weren't here for the Graet Food Fight of 2005. LOL.
tater tots?
tee hee at mama.
*Or even the 'Great* Food Fight.
It shirr is, Mama.
i want jacuzzi full of strawberry mousse.
I was impressed, Mr. dog, by your attempt to make a drawing. Punctuation at its finest.
can I have a clue for the first re 5 / 10?
oh phooey...gender is no issue. *strips down and hops in!*
what was the consensus on santa?
first time i've heard smeltz called mr. dog! LOL!!!
re 5/10 sailing race minus two consonants
hurshy - strawberry mousse is on Fridays.
The strawberry mousse bath is only allowable if it also has chocolate sauce on top.
santa consensus: babble no takey. sad sad babblers.
Three times in a row... the log gets stuck or I am getting too slow ... anyway HELLO ALL .. Hurshy - na 7/28 dapper? what do you mean?
re5 = lasso, lariat
Torgone - Eggsactly my point!
mmm, well call it friday and pile on the chocolate sauce, then!!!!
1st re5/10 - another word for lariat or lasso.
Well, omelet that one go..
lucky - well, how about this: cinci____, ohio. made comparative
thank you hershy and torgone and Jacula...I got it.
*Mr Dog puts on his "I can't see nude people glasses"...trips over the hose and runs away*
Was that supoached to be funny?
I have never taken to Mr. Claus. He seems fickle and judgmental to me. As to his name in the puzzle, I say definitely proper noun. If we don't get Moses, does anyone actually believe we would get Santa?
torgone - don't let it go so over easily
hursh and mama...funny
mab very funny (assuming joking)
Who's in the nude, apart from Hurshy?
It dozen matter.
(shocked) KAT is nude I am in a burka.
i'm a moron and missing the last os 4/4
Ms. kataroo

os 4/4 r****io, on will and grace
the other os, por favor! rofl on the baseball camp...'there's no crying in baseball!"
mab - assuming you are in a thoughtful mood, yes Santa (anagram of Satan) is as fickle nd judgemental as that chap whose name rhymes with a popular pet that's not a cat. But, hey, we only get one life, or one life as the people we are now, so ... enjoy.
*the dog is making a telephone out of cans and string to talk to his friends in the jacuzzi.*
Hi shorty!!!!!!
an 6/18, against arkansas.
thank yoU!
hi mama
how are you ?
yw shorty! (juxtaposition of internet chat and can phones funny!!!)
Hurhy pleeeez I'm living in Holland remember.. Next to Arkansas is....???
Hello shorty! Now I've got the Rod Stewart & The Fces track, 'Cut Across Shorty' in my head. No bad thing though!
Lucky - LOL!!!!!
no, no, against as in opposed to (as in an4). and arkansas - take first two letters.
LOL
opposed to the gas argon
LOL
Torgone - it's your turn.... *wink*
go torgone! torgone, argon
Jacula: I certainly take no issue with those who admire the morbidly obese old fellow. I simply offer as perfectly useless information that I do not like him. Now the elves, they are another matter entirely. And the reindeer, I'm crazy about the reindeer.
Oh sorry . . . . .Uh, . .what the shell?
see - i was right! mab is joking!
i <3 santa...but not before thanksgiving! damn corporate america...
I thought either you forgot or were scrambling for one.
Well, albumen when I can think of another egg pun.
MAMABEAR HI LOL HELLP Hurshy is giving clues that are more difficult than the grid .... or I am babbbbbleblind. Hursh no harml lets jump in the jaccuzi and drown our sorrows!
*bubbles in jacuzzi*
i think this pun thing should be ova.
Mab - my kids, having been told to 'yell like hell' should ANY stranger appear in their bedrooms at night, got worried about Santa, when they got old enough to rationise it... 'Some old bloke with a beard, who laughs like a 'perv', is going to come into our rooms???'
I eggree
What are you, chicken?
ok lucky, i'll try again an plus kind of crown minus last letter
Hurshy - eggsactly! So it should!
A yolk's a yolk, but it's all gone to cock now!
well, i wasn't hatched yesterday, if that's what you mean?
here's my leg - don't pullet anymore.
an6/18 = "A Virulent poison prepared in Java from the gum resin of one species of the upas tree"
We won't, if you keep your capon!
i'm sure lucky'll get it right away now....
i'm getting a henache
Hush not your fault at all but I'm just too thick today to catch on ;) I need a stiff drink... that 'll do it
these puns are so cheep.
LUCKY - you see the new clue at 8:54, though?
i'm missing ha 5/12
an6/18 - good clue I saw for this earlier was 'against' plus a word pirates say. Set me off thinking about Johnny Depp. *Sigh.* Should have thought more Long John Silver though, 'A* Jim Lad!'
or maybe i'm just feeling peckish.
thanks 4 the clue torgone
Now you're just sounding cornfed! Your cluck might run out soon!
That's a jo-I say that's a joke, son! I made a funny boy. Why ain't ya laughin? I keep pitchin' em, and you keep missin'
hello...ello...ello...ello

torgone, i laughed at exactly 8:56.
Well, torgone of the dubious clues, are you finished with today's puzzle? Did you get all your M's? Hmmmm?
ack! laguna beach is on, then ms. 17 i love my mtv...be back in an hour!
there is only one ha 5/12. there's ha 5/14, plural of ha4

Hursh - Get out the bottle, invite the media, live it up........ I've got it!!!! a crown for you!
122 words
*sigh, i'll figure it out after i finish corrupting my mind with bad reality tv about spoiled teenagers. peace!
But hurshy, I didn't post at 8:56 . . . . Oh, I get it.
Good evening everyone. This puzzle has me crying "fowl". Does anyone have a clue for ae7 please? Its my last one and I don't see it. "
na words...think small
hooray, lucky!
122 words (1147 points) today.
ae 7 add past tense of sit to ae4
Hey Foghorn!!!!! My computer fried up on me. Had to rebird. And I think these yolks are getting too cornish.
are the nudies gone? *jumps back into jacuzzi*
thanks smeltz
yes, kat went to watch mtv. that must be where she gets her shocking jacuzzi habits.
ae7 - your ae4/4 word plus past tense of what you did in your chair.
you sayin we're supposed to wear clothes in the jacuzzi??? oh.......
gratuitous: the sky is falling, the sky is falling!
A big ty Hursh I am now done and I can chill out too
mama, hursh and torghorn - only one more pun a piece.

Smeltzie - who made you pun police?
Bears never wear clothes...any way you're still orange.

What do you call a bear's toupee?
(chorus) "i don't know, what do you call a bear's toupee?"
hola all!
A honeycomb over? Dunno!
I've lost track of the chat. Do I understand correctly that Mr. Dog has been in the Jacuzzi all this time with his bun on? How inconsiderate to future bathers who will be picking soggy crumbs out of the water for hours. Really, some weiners.
More stats, for those who need them... A - 22 D - 2 E - 7 H - 4 I - 3 L - 17 N - 4 O - 4 R - 13 S - 27 T - 18
A Bear Skin Rug!!!!!!! *OMG - who's throwing all those fish at me? as mamabear dodges flying creatures of the deep*
I have new and improved buns thank you!
LOL MAMA
LOL at mama, jacula. hi evanadine. mab - it's a MAGIC jacuzzi. no crumbs.
good for you Smeltz. We all would like to have new and improved buns
hi evanadine!!!!!! We are all telling yolks. Are you sunny side up for it???
Mamabear definitely deserves a cooked kipper, a floppy haddock and a few frozen fish fingers around the bonce for that joke!
(throws soggy bit of bun at MB) Oh, my! Very amusing, MB. Really.
mmmmm... yummy....
it's no use throwing food at mamabear.
back to babbleonia.... I only have 2 so's - how sod!!!! I have the fish and the owie..... clues please?
Hurshy - yea. I've guessed that. Just like me, she loves fish.
you're right hursh *throws mab at mama*
*trying to come up with appropriate egg-related joke*
mama 2 other so 4's. both change last letter of owie.
Mama - soddish is NOT in this grid! LOL.
Hursh ....... *yogi scratches head and looses toupee in the magic jaccuzi, the orange fur then gets STUCK again in the drain... the sun is HOT... poor cooked bearbrain*
mama - think mushroom for one think about the cartoon explorer
so 5's. two are plurals. one is like a plant or a kind of mare but with double consonant reduced to single
mama change the last letter of your boo-boo
lucky, if my dad were telling that story, it would end with "gangrene sets in, off comes the leg"
Evanadine - you might not get this, cos it's prob. a very football related UK joke... The think it's all OVA? It is now! (Best posted at moment of grid changeover.)
Lucky - the jacuzzi is always on Indiana time...it's magic! (10:17)
Ok Now you''ve gone too far, mystery meat! Just because your clothing is made of dough is no reason to get violent with me (stabs dog with fork to check for done-ness)
Hursh -- am I ever lucky to have FOUR legs ...
mushroom? cartoon character? mare? plant? nada
'cause...you're a mouse?
ok guys, omelette you all continue with your yolks...
s plus sounds like exam taken out loud
there's an "s" that rhymes with the spanish speaking explorer cartoon
you get all the others mama?
Smeltzdog bears cannot tell the time.... nor can mice for that matter 4:19 .... Need my winter nap soon.
yes I got all the others. but I'm a quart low on the spanish speaking cartoon explorers...
maimed mr dog goes back inside to the cans to talk. *tap, tap, tap* hello?
Hursh Mice and bears have four legs and so do I ... for real .... try to figure that one out ...... no clues attached!
tv on downstairs. commercial on. snippet overheard "bayer helped save his life" babblehead heard "bear helped save his life"
change the last letter of owie
man, my egg joke musta been rotten....yall didnt crack up... im just a shell of my former self now!
Sorry, eva, 'omelette' and 'yolks' have already been used; I'm afraid you will not be going home with a new washer/dryer. Actually, the egg theme was fairly exhausted and they'd begun to peck at chicken puns. it all just escalates.
mama see 9:20 clue
I am planning to hibernate until Dec 25th. Will come out of sleepy state for about three days and then not emerge until my daughter's 19th birthday (March 26th). Will then sleep again, unless the snowdrops and crocuses are out, until my own birthday (April 22nd).
puzzling. lucky on crutches?
well, cluck you all then! i laid a good one!
HOORAY HURSH.... YOUR ARE FAR FROM HIBERNATING!
Jac, your birthday is the same as my son's (Earth day)
(pleased grin)
Evanadine! We'll not have that kind of 'language' here! LOL.
and really, doesnt my icon win all in that case? hehe :D
no grin Hursh this calls for LOL!
mamaaaaaa! did you get it? agree evanadine icon fitting. lucky, haven't stopped LOL for hours.
Torgone - I'm now playing Donovan's 'I'm An Earth Sign, Mama' track from 'Cosmic Wheels'. *Grins* Failing that, listen to 'Venus' by Shocking Blue.
Oh! That 'c' word! Really eva! Torgone -- six degrees of seperation....Or is it eight?
ooh, are we gonna play the kevin bacon game?
Seems like 180 sometimes.
sorry all, guess im just a bad egg tonight... i should be scrambled and fried!
any more help mama?
180? Now I'm hearing that darts commentator from the 70s yelling the darts score.
mamabear has disappeared. probably that phone contraption i keep hearing about.
clue for in 4/4 have the rooms one please and ty
Evanadine - you could be coddled, you know.x
in 4/4 if you're making progress, you're making in*****. cut off last 3 letters.
*mamabear enters room very sheepishly* it is a so 5/10 I am missing ... I guess that would be what you all call "pulling a mamabear" right????? *face is redder than Rudolph's nose*
hmm, maybe too hard. STAR TREK CLUE! in 4/4 plus ensign laren
Shorty - it's a regular grid word is the 'in' one... definition is: A small, usually ornamented box that is hung from the waist sash of a Japanese kimono and has compartments for holding small objects such as cosmetics, perfumes, or medicines.
not a star trek fan? in 4/4 you press your clothes with an _____, unscramble no egg pun intended
mama see 9:20 clue
thank you got it
*And meanwhile, while the bears -- but one -- were in a deep unconsious sleep, the mouse was speechless and clueless as how to tell a *tail* .... oh deer oh deer ... got all the aminals mixed up... glad the cat is not in!
shorty, just curious, which clue?
mama don't fret we all have our days. Did you get the plurals and the reddish horse
I was gone because my computer does not like me
mama - one is a pl. the other rhymes with the hard white stuff people collect from the ocean.
your unscramble clue
so5/10 - a spelling of a plant that is thought of as a weed, but has a consonant missing. It's cropped up in grids before. Comes in mostly red or white.
9:20 clue so perfect. know mama will get it.
thank u *humbly lowers head in paws - that took WAY too long* Maybe I need to go hibernate.
18 ... and counting
where did everybody go
I think I've discerned your problem, Mamabear: you have a cub draped over your head covering one eye. Just give your head a good shake and things should become clearer.
mab - that's not a cub, that's my paw!!!!
mab so funny
nevermind i was really quiet 4 a while
it*
Oh well that's even easier to correct!
I was thinking real hard and everyone was holding their breath!!!! Who's still in the jacuzzi with me?
me in my burka, smeltz i think...ajs?
I'm not even going to mention that I need 7 le's and 6 ta's....... not on your life!
Mr. mystery meat should be done to a turn by now.. Watch out for floating bread crumbs mamabear. Did you get the so5's? I had a hard time with them too.
I need AN dip ... maybe 7 of them??? ... Hursh I'm working on your clues
Mab - that reminds me of a cartoon I taped for my kids back in the 80s. It was entitled something like 'Mama and the 3 Bearcubs'. She was trying to hibernate, but they, being typical kids, wanted to be awake for Christmas. The tale of them waking her up etc., has never lost its charm for my 2 kids, now aged 18 and 21... they stlil insist on viewing that damned video in the run up to Christmas.
I'm here Mama. But I should get out because I am starting to wrinkle. Dang hate when that happens!!
mr dog *still talking through can from inside* would like to be but is fragile and maimed because of mab's anger issues.
ajschuring - it's really not the best idea to sit in the bath and try to be on the net, even with a wireless pc.
hurshy would like to see all finish puzzle, but is eggzausted and pruny and needs to dry off and go to bed. must say goodnight and see everyone tomorrow.
sniff...sniff...smell of sulfur fills the air
me too...how much left mama?
ahhhh nite hurshy
big bear hug Hursh -- G'nite!
Night Hurshy.
I think that's sweet, Jacula. You gave them a wonderful memory and a family tradition. My anger issues! Recall smelly dog, that you were the one who threw me to the bears. I'm willing to let the whole thing go if in future you keep your greasy hands off!
Good night Hursh Sleep Well Jac I thought this Jacuzzi was safe? Oops

Smell of sulphur? Is that eggs, a fart, or a volcanic state?
G'nite hurshy!!!! Thanks for the help & laughs!!!!! Sleep well and sweet dreeeemmmmmmmmmzzzzzzzz

jac - it was my rotten egg pun from prev post
za means crazier
za word means - 'madder', more nutty. Think 70s.
i have no anger issues and am not too heavy.
not meaning to say mab is heavy - don't want to be on receiving end of anger issues
zank you
THanks for the offer Lucky but I think I'm gonna just let this one be soft boiled..... too tired.....
MAMA do u have 29 to go?
better leave now hursh...the heat from mab is toasting my bun!
:) good advice, smeltz. 'night.
Mama - remember Eden Kane? Your 'z' word at the tart, rhymes with his surname.
yes I do. pathetic I know.... didn't have much time during the day to babble (they insist I work at work) and didn't get home until 7 ish.... then there was the eggpisode of yolks.... you get the picture
*or even at the start!
(drying off) Well if nobody needs anything I think I am off to bed. Good night everyone . Have a good evening.
thank you for the clue jacula, but itwasn't me who needed the z!!!!!

Mama - a6/33 - more Edenlike (think of his surname!)
and the trend begins...I am off in 5 minutes.
Good night ajschuring.

Me three. I believe we've lost Torgone altogether. night all.
Smeltzie - you need help cleaning up before I go?????
too tired to clean tonight...must sleepy 'night y'all
"Looks like it's just you and me, lamp post." *mock punches lamppost in the chin - globe falls off lamppost - smashes on torgone's head*

mama - don't start again...you'll never leave!
I can take a hint....*sniff*
*leaves and takes mama with him*
I'm here; I care; I just didn't feel funny for a while there.
za means Ludicrously comical; clownish
