Nice clue, and I got the S word, but I thought I would point out that it is not a respectful term for "Indian Maiden." I wouldn't use that word in Montana! I'm not sure of the whole story, but I believe it was a perjorative term in one of the native languages. The white settlers decided to apply the term to every woman. It's the equivalent of calling Mother Theresa a whore. Just so you know!

I don't understand why people think teachers only work nine months of the year-- everyone else get's holidays, what's more they get to choose when they take them -- teachers don't! Teachers are also at work for at least one week after school ends and two weeks before school begins each year and the good ones are probably putting in 10 hour days when class is in.

at private schools, like where my husband and i work, we have saturday classes. i only teach part time, but my husband has four classes, coaches, has dorm duty, plus grading and prep. he works extra hard in the nine months, so i think it sort of balances out to the same amount of work as a normal year-round job.

cybernan - i realize they don't work only the time in the classroom teaching. however, in this area, they do get more time off and more pay..many corporate entities do not get off holidays like vet's day etc...and in many jobs the times you get vacation is dictated by shutdowns, etc. anyway this began as good natured ragging on our friend hurshy... : )

Siku.... the "ha" designates the first 2 letters of the word in the Babble puzzle. The first number is the number of letters in the word. The second number is the number of points you score.
